You Need My Help? I Questioned With A Forced Smile, You Need My Help? I Repeated As I Took A Step Closer

“ You need my help?” I questioned with a forced smile, “ You need my help?” I repeated as I took a step closer to the wall. I narrowed my eyes as I clenched and unclenched my hand. My tail thrashed as I narrowed my eyes.

“ After everything you’ve done to me? Isolation, hyperthermia, exhaustion… everything!” I threw my arms into the air, “ You want MY HELP?!” I yelled as I stared at him.

-Tango's POV

-----------------------------------

Week 4 to Shep's art event! The time I went with drawing a hermit as a villain.

I may've brought an AU back from the dead. This AU (now with an offical name: Zedvancement: Collect them All AU/CollectorZed AU for short) was created at the beginning of Season 9.

However, due to lack of ideas and burnout, I sort of just... abandoned it? But now, with the season being more developed and also the burnout for AU crafting has gone away a bit, I'm gonna start doing it again (amongst my many, many other AUs).

AU synopsis under cut:

Zedaph was obsessed. He wanted to collect everything on the server: From the smallest craftable item to the largest mob, Zedaph wanted it all.

But, a problem arose with Zedaph's obsession. He wanted everything in the server. This 'everything' included the very denizens that lived in the world alongside him:

The hermits.

RIFT AU: The Rescuers.

RIFT AU: The Rescuers.

A semi-proper sketch of the main cast together for RIFT AU. While Scar, Jimmy, and Cub are the main focus, Pearl and Zedaph do still have their own adventure back in Hermitland (like dealing with a giant robot) or explaining to their friends that they shouldn't follow the compasses they received).

I will keep updating everyone's designs every now and again. But these designs will probably be the most used.

---------------

Left to right (with some little descriptions):

Scar:

The first to figure out that Grian was missing. He's still his usual cheery self, and he's determined to rescue his friend.

However, the longer that he traverses the rift, the more drained he becomes.

-

Jimmy:

Upon hearing about the Rift from Lizzie (and Fwhip in a group message), a feeling of dread washes through the bird hybrid. And by using his Listener powers (which are rusty), he's able to pinpoint where his concerns are coming from.

Jimmy leads and protects the trio as they traverse the rift. His body is somehow use to the shifting realms (despite never being there before).

-

Cub:

Cub is the support for the group. He uses his vex magic to help boost Jimmy's Listener magic. On top of this, he also has some normal healing magic (and potions) He also has normal magic, but the vex magic is more affective and can adapt to other dimensions easier).

(Him being a bear hybrid also helps) Good ears and other senses)

---------

Pearl:

Pearl monitors the rift alongside Zedaph. She makes sure that the Rift is stable (they can't let it shrink) or even grow).

She also uses her Watcher-based magic in order to monitor and extract the rescue team (and whoever they rescue).

-

Zedaph:

Zedaph, meanwhile, provides both his redstone knowledge (and other skills).

He makes sure that all the redstone used to study the rift is still functioning. Also, he distracts the other hermits and makes sure that they don't go through the rift.

Both of them also decorate the base and craft potions for those rescued.

LOG 002:

LOG 002:

Something came out of the rift. Something came out of the rift!

A giant, man-made machine crawled its way out of the Rift and merged itself with the wall in Grian's base. It was terrifying! The thing's giant arms and body melded into the rock and fused itself with all the technology that was already in the base.

And once the thing's screen turned on, it didn't really settle my nerves about it.

The AI claimed to be a Grumbot from another reality. This Grumbot also claimed that it wanted to help Pearl and me in our mission of finding Mumbo.

(We didn't say what our goal was. And on top of that, Grumbot didn't mention Grian nor the others at all. Not even when I brought it up) They were, and still are, focused solely on Mumbo)

For now, Pearl and I have decided to trust the AI. It's already proven to be able to reach out to Scar and the others. Grumbot's screen also gives an even clear picture than Pearl's crystals.

Besides, I don't want to see what happens if we refuse him...

So, I've been working on some concept doodles for the Hermits in Frozen Over AU. This post is just little bits about their designs.

For starters, some of the main hermits in this AU:

So, I've Been Working On Some Concept Doodles For The Hermits In Frozen Over AU. This Post Is Just Little

From left to right:

Scar, Etho, Cub, Pearl, Gem, Impulse.

Scar, Pearl, and Gem have the simplest designs out of this bunch. Their designs are all pretty similar to their base skins besides some extra padding.

Impulse and Etho are essentially unchanged. Well, Impulse is slightly more disheveled than usual.

Out of this group, Cub probably has my favorite design. I just like the fluffy scarf type thing he's got. Due to being a bear hybrid, Cub also has some neck fluff.

-

These hermits are also important to the story, but I didn't have enough room to draw them on the first canvas.

So, I've Been Working On Some Concept Doodles For The Hermits In Frozen Over AU. This Post Is Just Little

From left to right:

Grian, Bdubs, Zedaph, Xb, Hypno, Cleo.

Out of these hermits, the colors for Zedaph's winter wear are actually already confirmed drawing wise. Zedaph's main coat is pink and his hood is yellow.

Xb, Bdubs, and Hypno are all relatively dressed how they usually are. Bdubs and Hypno have some extra padding/layers underneath. But, Xb does have some extra fluff added to his hood.

Cleo and Grian are the most changed outfit wise in this group.

Out of this group, Hypno and Zedaph are probably my favorite designs

-

There's still a couple more hermits that I want to do designs of. Meanwhile, there's some hermits that I'm leaving out on purpose.

I also want to do designs of the hermits with actual color to their clothes.

I've been working on references for Frozen Over AU. Everyone's refs are in no particular order.

Heck, the order that I post them in won't even reflect the order that I drew them in.

I've Been Working On References For Frozen Over AU. Everyone's Refs Are In No Particular Order.

Scar:

Scar in this AU is a half elf; A half forest elf to be more specific. Forests can very in their climate, flora, and fauna. Forest elves are no different. On top of this, Forest elves can share appearances with species native to the forest or are present in their lives.

The forest elf that Scar gets his halfness from is from a moderate climate. It does see snow on occasion. Scar also gets more beastial, cat-like traits (fangs, nose, a tail).

2. Cubfan:

Cub is, like a lot of interpretations of his character, a bear hybrid. I had the idea of a black bear going on in my head for awhile. But, ultimately, he's probably just a bear.

Cub is also very sleepy during the events of this AU. Poor guy. Not too much to say about his design and hybridness besides what I've already said.

Neither Scar nor Cub are vexes in this AU. They were cured of that during a prior season.

Also, Cub is actually slightly taller than Scar (both around 6'0). Scar is just slouching a bit. Scar also will have his wheelchair in the AU. I just need some time to figure out a design (maybe snow treads? or snow wheels? Haven't decided)

----------------------------------------

I've Been Working On References For Frozen Over AU. Everyone's Refs Are In No Particular Order.

3. Impulse:

Impulse is a dwarf. A cave dwarf to be more specific. Cave dwarves are use to cold temperatures of the deeper, wetter caves that they could inhabit.

Impulse is a cave dwarf that lives within more hotter cave climates. Lava and such. Hence why Impulse where's shorter sleeves. His body temperature runs warmer.

Impulse's design is basically a more fleshed out version of the concept I've drawn for him. I've also changed Impulse's horn shape a bit and give him a tail. His tail is made of thin hairs with a large tuft on the end.

4. Zedaph:

Zedaph is still a sheep hybrid. He's extra wooly now that this freeze has set in on the server. He still wears the big, poofy coat though (visibility and also fashionable).

Zedaph's design was the first design that I actually had finalized. I just couldn't get the idea of Zedaph in a big pink coat out of my head. Zedaph is also the first person to be in his Frozen Over get up in the AU.

Separated versions of Cub and Scar under the cut (I couldn't fit Scar's tail in). Impulse and Zedaph don't have separated versions due to their designs being more compact on the canvas:

HERMIT A DAY MAY - DAY 3

Zedaph x Professor Layton

An image of Minecraft youtuber Zedaph on a pale yellow-brown background. He's drawn in the style of the Professor Layton games. He's smiling excitedly and waving to someone off screen. In his left hand is a rope that extends up above his head and off the image, so we can't see what's on the other end. Knowing Zed, it is likely something hilarious and confusing. He also has pointy ears and tiny sheep horns because I can't help myself, I love fusing these funny block people with creatures. You can probably blame Doc for that, I think he started it.

I drew Zedaph in the style of the fabulous puzzle adventure game series Professor Layton! I think this is perfect for Zedaph because, like Professor Layton himself, Zed loves to make everything much more complicated and mind-bending than it needs to be simply for the whimsy of it. And we wouldn't have it any other way! If you want to learn more about the Professor Layton games and look at my reference images, continue below the cut.

Professor Layton is a series of adventure puzzle games that follows the titular gentleman professor and his child protégé, Luke, as they solve mysteries. The games are packed full of creative challenges ranging from logic problems to visual riddles, which the characters encounter through the events of the story. While difficult (if you're like me and refuse to use hints or walkthroughs), the game is very rewarding and set a cozy pseudo-steampunk world that's a delight to explore. These were some of my favourite games to play on my DS as a kid. Style references:

Professor Layton and Luke standing are standing in the center of a ring of people. Layton and Luke are holding a piece of paper and look alarmed and defensive. The people around them have various expressions, most of which are conspiratorial or gossipy. Everyone is overlaid in a sepia tone except for Layton and Luke.

A collection of characters from Professor Layton and the Curious Village, the first game in the series.

A cleaned-up screencap from one of the older DS games. It shows Luke standing in a kitchen of some kind, speaking to a sad looking cartoon hamster. Luke is smiling and saying ''OK, little chap, from now on, anywhere I go, you'll go too''. Did I mention anywhere that nearly everyone in the game is super British?

A de-pixelated remaster of a screencap from Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, the second game.

An image of the Professor Layton game logo, which consists of the words ''Professor Layton'' written in maroon. The font used looks sophisticated. The entire logo sits in an oval, the outline of which is the same color as the text. To the left side of the logo is the silhouette of a top hat with a fancy, stylized ''L'' in the center.

The Professor Layton title logo
