It's kinda funny that Near, who was not interested in playing games with Light-Kira, acknowledges A-Kira as "extremely smart" because he's not interested in playing games with anyone and just wants the cash.

It's like a game of who could care less, and I think Near still wins 🤣

If Ohba is trying to draw parallels between L in the manga and Near in the present day, then I think it's interesting that Near's main motive for tracking down A-Kira is that he thinks they must be very smart and finds the prospect intriguing. Seemingly L's thinking went along these lines when he was tracking down the original Kira as well.

It seems like everyone is focusing on Minoru making other people rich alongside himself as the reason he is a good dude, but to me that was just his way of hiding his payout amongst a large group rather than being generous? The thing about Minoru that is more intriguing to me is how he tried to find a way to both keep Ryuk entertained with the Death Note and also not kill anybody with it. He knew that Ryuk would just give it to somebody else and that it could very likely be super destructive if he refused it, so he was put into a very tricky moral situation when being chosen specifically by Ryuk like that. To me it seemed like Minoru was treating Ryuk almost like a dangerous man with a gun that he had to calm down and distract so he could disarm him. I think Ryuk realized this at the end when they were parting ways and he said "man, I didn't realize you hated me so much."
