I’ve re-discovered Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the realm. Cheesy? Yes, undoubtedly. Lovable? Oh absolutely. In terms of character chemistry, it’s got that hint of found-family that pretty much drives me and severely untapped comedy potential. (And weirdly, that carries over into the main game narrative, which I’m absolutely delighted to find out?? Ya know, considering what Mortal Kombat is most renowned for??)

Anyway, Nightwolf has always been my absolute favourite out of the roster, but more so in the cartoon. He’s just got “team’s tech-head little brother” vibes that I can’t NOT build on here! …And I just love the idea of Kiba getting into mischief on Nightwolf’s behalf.

…Not sure if I just wanna go full throttle and create a whole little series of doodles in the same vein as what X-Men: Evolution was to the X-Men series. Really tempted.

I’ve been thinking of Kung Lao, not just MK1 but generally as a whole, and how he’s always pushed aside—number two. In some ways nothing is ever really his. Liu Kang, his best friend, becomes a god and goes onto to make a different timeline and stay there, and before that he got to be Earthrealm’s champion(in mk11 Liu Kang seemed like everything anyone EVER talked about with him). And of course it’s beyond that too: his name isn’t even his(“descendant of the great Kung Lao”), and his destiny and goals seemed to be based a lot on something predetermined for him, it’s a bit tragic.

Who was going to tell me that one of the voice actors for Taka was the same guy who voices fucking NOOB SAIBOT IN MK11?!?!?!!?

When you alone tho, he'll trait you like his queen and he'll spoil you a lot. You'll even cuddle sometimes 👀 and you will hear him giggling too sometimes 'cause he thinks your cute.
