wangxian deserve modern aus because it means they can go to an aquarium. they are both easily entertained by small animals and small moving objects. although lwj would want to stand in front of one tank and just watch it for like an hour meanwhile wwx has darted around and seen everything. they’d humour each other though. which means occasionally lwj allows himself to be dragged along to see this one fish that is so pretty lan zhan come see! and occasionally wwx stands next to lwj and gets super invested in this one tank and starts making up intense histories of drama between the fish and doing voice-overs for their interactions. lwj just nods along and the casual onlooker would think he’s bored but he’s paying attention and occasionally adds character notes
Speaking of saving JL, I love how almost the entire adult cast keeps trying to keep this kid safe and he just keeps managing to slip through their collective fingers and get in deadly trouble anyway. JL thinks he’s starring in a middle-grade adventure novel while everyone around him desperately tries to convince him this is a rather violent mystery novel for adults actually and he’s gonna be the next victim if he doesn’t overcome his bad case of protagonist syndrome

i mentioned in the fic that they wear white gusu lan robes for the lectures. so i kinda have this idea that during the free weekends they just go around wearing only the outer robes over their usual clothes.

my fanart of The Untamed.
Not exactly angsty but you know that scene where WWX takes a drink for LWJ when Jin Zixun tries to force it? Well, it turns out that Jin Zixun slipped some form of Rohypnol (or the xianxia equivalent) in that drink and while it was only supposed to affect cultivators at a slow rate, since WWX didn’t have a core, he faints almost immediately.
Wei Wuxian throws back the wine in one go. He gives the angry Jin Zixun a smug smile and is in the middle of a snappy comeback when his voice turns slow and slurry. His smile drops and Wei Wuxian stumbles back a step before righting himself. Lan Wangji can only watch while Wei Wuxian's eyes roll back before he goes boneless. He catches Wei Wuxian just before his head hits the floor.
The party quickly descends into madness. People are yelling and throwing accusations of attempted murder at the Jin who are trying to deflect. Jiang Cheng summons Zidian and looks ready to kill. Lan Wangji ignores all of it.
His hand is on Wei Wuxian's wrist checking his pulse and searching for even a wisp of spiritual energy. There is none.
The three MXTX Shou’s (Shen Yuan/SQQ, Xie Lian, and Wei Wuxian) but reversed 🤭 should I also do the Gongs? Hehe 😉
