The Germans have a saying... “Ubung macht dem Meißter „ The poetic translation to English would be something like "practice makes perfect„ .

For me I like the literal translation here better “ Practice Makes the Master”.

The Master knows that perfection does not really exist as an artist. But we chase it anyway in hopes that we may all become masters of our craft.

A throwback video, thiS was one of those tracks when you realize your onto something but do not know what ….

The Artwork and Guitar were done by my boy Kentucky Dixon aka Two First Names aka Bobby Jorje.

Posting this throwback video is bittersweet for me. There were so many more collaborations I wish I could have completed with my homie. Maybe we will someday who knows. Creative differences and friendship divides often cause great music to never be made or heard.

All I can do is keep pushing, keep creating, keep this God Momentum Flow.

Gamers! Can you hear this playing in the background of a game you play? To me it sounds like music for a video game screen where something is loading or your selecting character traits… except for the end where i had way to much fun with the bongos hahaha! I was #feelingmyself

Just A Lil Finger Drumming Practice On My Mpc Live 2

I’ve been using the arpeggiator function recently on my mpc. It’s pretty dope once you set your chord progression because it opens up all melodic instruments and synths to way more possibilities!

SIMPLEXITY [yes i made this word up]: Simplexity for me is when art 🖼️ is executed in an individualistically complex manner but its final product is simple enough for any person to understand.

Sometimes I want my music to just hit you with a feeling no words. Other times I’m just talking my shiid cuz I know we all want to in our own ways.

But recently I’ve been trying to take a step back and reflect on what I have completed and released so far so I can decide ok where do I go from here. What do I want to achieve with each new track I make?

I am constantly asking myself questions…

Are these levels too high? Should I cut this part or that part? Can a beat have melodies and counter melodies and still go hard af? Is this too much compression? Are the dynamics building up to something? Etc.

At the end of it all though I find myself saying. Have I achieved Simplexity? Is this simple enough to digest while still expressing the little orchestrative lines I wish to include.

Its a process. It takes as long as it takes. I'm enjoying the grind tho. 💯

how 2 toby fox:

>make song with 90s videogame soundfonts

>add duplicates of the songs tracks but this time with "high quality" soundfonts (often SGM or Touhou soundfont) >especially for the drums

>add some chiptuney sounding synth

>dip the whole thing in some basic ass compression + reverb

>fiddle with volume/panning knobs till it sounds good

there, its as shrimple as that

(the catch is you have to actually be good at writing good sounding songs and remember to somehow stretch 4 leitmotifs into an entire soundtrack with high-level music theory fuckery, but dont worry you're allowed to take inspiration toby did a fuckton of that, "great artists steal" and all that)

to prove that soundfonts + cheapass reverb/compression aren't the only trick up my music production sleeve heres a transcription/cover of Kid Cudis "Unfukwittable" with every track being a VST I already had downloaded

and yes, the main riff is Delay Lama automated to match kid cudis autotuned vocals

Cry About It

cry about it

adding reverb to your songs in post is as harmful and misleading as adding filters to your photos. if you want reverb play in a cave
