Ollie and Lucky update! I made a series name, "Ollie and Lucky Against the World"

Brief description of what to expect: It's about these two 19 year olds who are best friends on this journey of figuring out what comes next. Lucky seems to have it all figured out, while Ollie is struggling and falling behind. Ollie is working on making a cartoon and has since high school, and together, the friends go to this 6 try to get the show idea more popular and find themselves trapped.

I don't know if it will be written or in little comics. My plan is to start it next year because next year is the actual start of the story, in that universe.

The feel of it is supposed to be unsettling horror, transitions, and family. The relationship between Ollie and Lucky is brothers. Both of their families grew up next to each other, and they were raised as siblings.

I thiiiink that's all I'm going to say about them for now, I hope to draw them after I finish Christmas gifts (which im procrastinating on..).

How am I supposed to advertise stuff without giving spoilers?? I'm thinking I need to draw bits of the story and just be incredibly vague about the story, but I have no idea if that's right or how any of this works.

So, I have a little server thing to organize all of my thoughts for Against the World, and the casual chatting channel has turned into me putting inspo links for different scenarios. I only use like, 3 of the 30+ channels and definitely need to properly sort things.

Anyway, I'm gonna try to finish drawing refs for the main duo, and then a little scene.

I have a very very very rough draft of the prologue and chapter one which I need to smooth out. I plan to get at least the prologue and all the drawings that go with it, finished and posted in April. That's when the actual story starts! So ideally, I'd line it up so I post it on the actual first day of the story.

So I'm making online names for the characters, and "JasperTheFriendlyGhost" was the first thing I thought of at 4 am last night, and I've been giggling at it ever since.

(Jasper has a special interest in paranormal beings and anomalous occurances. So things like ghosts, demons, the backrooms, things like that.)

Hi hi!! I should give the new and improved plot of Ollie and Lucky Against the World, I frequently that this blog exists and y'all are completely unaware of what's happening.

So, without too many spoilers, AtW is a horror-comedy-mystery story that leans heavily into unreal and paranormal themes!

The Wilkintower family (combination of Wilkinson and Hightower) go on their annual camping trip to celebrate Ollie's birthday. During the trip, Ollie and Lucky go missing. It's up to their siblings, Skye, Bonnie, Jasper, Marsh, and Holly, to find and guide them back home.

Hopefully, I'll be posting more regular updates on the development of the story, but I make no promises, as someone who forgets easily. I do also hope and plan to commission someone to make refs of the main characters. Sooo, stay tuned!! <3

Some art I drew recently that I forgot to post!!

This one (^^^) is Frankie! And also my clownsona! And also Frankie's clownsona!!

Frankie is Ollie's best friend and together the two of them (and their friends Gabriel and Allison) go on clown outings regularly!!

I sketched them out at work and lined and colored today!!

I also colored regular Frankie, and made eyelids (in the event I turn them into a fursuit(which would be sick as hell)) and I'm designing their clown outfit!!

This is my persona and my pfp!! I drew them yesterday at my mom's office, while I was waiting to go to the bus stop!!

And this is a little teeny tiny sloppy doodle of Ollie!! Because I love him!! Also drew them at work.

I ALSO drew a headshot for a.. friend(??) yesterday, because they were upset about not having art of their character, but then they unfriended me this morning sooo..

I'm too cool for them anyway (...)

Oh look!! It's Lucky!!

Lucky is a 19 year old cat from my little story Ollie and Lucky Against the World!! They use they/them pronouns and is particularly interested in cameras!!

I'll finish drawing them in a moment, but I wanted to share some little fun facts!!

- Elliott is their real name! Lucky was a nickname from their mom! The two families call them Lucky most of the time anyway.

- They will only allow variations to the nickname from Ollie. Things like "Luckster" or "Sir Lucksalot". Silly things like that!!

- They are very "snazzy" (their words) and will wear fancy formal clothes no matter the occasion!

- Lucky is big into plants!! Their bedroom is absolutely filled with them!! Some of the siblings have caught Lucky singing and talking to the plants while they work!

- Lucky was born January 16th!!

- Lucky works at the town's library and two different cafes!! It's a bit tricky to balance all that, but they manage!

I do love them a lot!! I made them right after I made Ollie, a couple years ago, I didn't want Ollie to be lonely! I think I made the two of them back in 2018?? I dunno, it was a couple years before I started developing the two as characters.

HAPPY AROMANTIC VISIBILITY DAY!!!!!!

On this first aro visibility day, I will be making yet another main character in my story Aromantic. What are you gonna do? Stop me? An aro person?? On this day of visibility!?!? nu uh I don't think so. I'll scream. I'll cry. Are you making an aro person cry on this VISIBILITY DAY!?!?!?

Anyway, congratulations Bonnie Hightower of Ollie and Lucky Against the World, you're aro now!!

But seriously, happy aromantic visibility day!! I hope you all have a good day!!

It's Bonnie!! Decided I wanted to draw her, after my horrible attempt to draw Holly.

There's some stuff I wanna change, but this was just my first attempt. All in all, I think I've done pretty good!!

I see something that needs fixing already, but I am tired, and will deal with it later.

Some fun Bonnie facts:

- She plays hockey!!

- She's my favorite character (I think I said Lucky was my favorite in the last Against the World post, but Bonnie is my favorite favorite)

- They use She/They pronouns

- I will be infodumping about the world building through her

- I kind of relate to her the most, aside from their interests and hobbies, I poured a lot of myself into Bonnie.

- Their middle name is Paige

This is their hoodie. It was made from using various transparent images found on Google.

This font took forever to find.

It was supposed to say a funny paleontology pun, but I could not think of any, so this is what we got.

Oh!! And I made a playlist for her!! It's filled with love songs and I'm still adding to it. I have been singing it nonstop. I'm a very romantic aromantic so I made Bonnie like that too. It's been very fun!

Sorry (not sorry) about Can't Take My Eyes Off You being in there 3 times. I like the song a lot.

For Ollie himself, he is my oldest character in this show. I made him back in middle school/early high school as this happy excitable dog who likes camping and adventures. He's gone through many changes throughout the years but that has stayed the same.

Ollie is big into clowns and will go on little clown outings with his friends, where they dress up and do a little photoshoot.

He doesn't know how to sew but really wants to learn how.

At the beginning of the story we are actually celebrating his 19th birthday!

He has quite a piercings, but I forgot to draw them.

I don't know how to shadow or highlight, but I will figure it out through the wonderful world of ignoring YouTube tutorials and doing my own thing.

I think my favorite character changes depending on whose playlist I'm currently making. Cause I've been making Ollie's for a bit and it's so fun to listen to. It has made me develop him more as a character. Especially things like what he watched growing up and his style and other things I cannot think about right now.

Ollie, you are my favorite now and I really wanna draw you more. But unfortunately, I am sleepy. And this sleepy guy does not want to reach over less than a foot away and open my sketchbook. I want to take a nap. And sing. I really wanna sing.

This is about Ollie and Lucky Against the World btw. I was fully prepared to post this without clarifying. I don't actually know very many characters named Ollie.. Anyway, I wanna ramble about him, but I do not know what stuff future me wants to keep secret, sooo... Thems the breaks I guess

I wanna ramble about my little stories and characters but that means I have to work on them and I don't have the spoons for that.. sob sob.. (/silly)

If anyone is curious about any of them, I can give a little blurb!! Most are newer ideas and haven't been smoothed out, so I'll probably be making stuff up as I go. But making stuff up is writing!!

I talked a bit about Ollie and Lucky Against the World and No Flash Photography Please here. Those are my oldest stories I think. Against the World (oalatw for short because that's a lot of typing(no I don't know how to pronounce that, haha!!)) is definitely the one I poured most of my heart in. I haven't done anything for it in a bit, and I still need to fix up my characters, but I think about them a lot. A new development is that Jasper really likes collecting bolts and screws and others of that sort. Like, whenever Lucky goes to the hardware store to buy stuff for Marsh's robotics club or the sudden passion projects of Bonnie, Skye, and Ollie or even for their camera repair shop, Jasper will come with. Jasper got them special store time walkie talkies just for when Lucky is running to the hardware store. Cause Lucky and Jasper are the only ones who like going! Ollie disappears down the paint isle never to be seen again. Bonnie stares at the lamps like she's a moth in heaven. Skye just doesn't like going. Marsh sits in the cart the whole time. And Holly is banned from the hardware store. Wren and Wilbur (the parents) stopped going after Lucky took over the trips and just leaves them a little list of the things that they need and some money.

Lucky actually does most of the shopping in the house. The parents are busy with work, Ollie and Bonnie and Skye are all doing in person college, Lucky is "doing college from home" (*cough* dropped out and hasn't told anyone *cough*), and Marsh and Jasper and Holly are all going to their own schools.

Occasionally Colin stops by with some goodies and treats, but he doesn't really do the shopping. Colin is Wren's ex. He's the dad of Bonnie, Ollie, Jasper, and Holly. I could go on about their wacky family past and whatever Colin is going. But I won't because I want to talk more about Lucky's job(s).

So in this world, it's customary for kids to live at home through college or stay with family in a different town, rather than move out or get dorms and stuff. The dorms are only for people who do not have family where the college is, or who NEED to leave. The kids who are doing school from home usually get at least two part time jobs because the only course load is notably lighter than the brick and mortar course load. (Disclaimer, I have not gone to college, I am pulling this out of my ass.) So Lucky used to be in college for mechanics/engineering. That is usually a brick and mortar course, but Lucky started college while they were still in high school, so they were allowed to be online, and just never moved over.

Lucky works for the Snowthorne library, and Cat's Eye Cafe(a silly joke because they are cats and when Wilbur met his wife Elena, she gave him a Tiger's Eye stone), which is their dad's little coffee shop. In addition to this, Lucky runs a little at home repair shop to make a bit more money. So they'll fix things like toasters and game consoles. They specialize in cameras, and they have worked on things like cars and fridges. .. For some reason. For the bigger jobs, Lucky will go to the client's house and do their little repair stuff. So Lucky needs to run to the hardware store quite often.

Oh! And another reason Jasper likes going to the hardware store is because he is trying to learn how to make his own ghost buster equipment. .. it's not going so well, but they're trying!! Marsh and Lucky help him a bit. Marsh doesn't really specialize in that kinda stuff though. He does a lot of bot fighting type stuff. Cause it's cool.

Can you tell I like Lucky? I like Lucky a lot. I have also rambled for FAR too long, very sorry about that. I gotta work on spreading it to smaller thought dumps more frequently. Rather than one massive blurb once every blue moon. Haha!!

Mackerel is back with another question. So I have this story called "Ollie and Lucky Against the World", "Against the World" for short, and I've been thinking of changing the name. So I am leaving that decision to the good people of Tumblr!!
