Title game: The Shadow Prince
Virgil sat on his throne, lounging back and messing with his phone. He kicked his feet, before he heard footsteps entering the room. He looked up, to see a knight wearing silver armor and a red sash across his chest.
“I have come to vanquish you, Shadow Prince! You’re reign of terror has come to an- hey! What did I say about phones?!” Roman cried out, huffing.
Virgil rolled his eyes and waved his phone away, pretending it didn’t exist. “Oh knight, you’re bravery amuses me, but today you shall perish,” he deadpanned, standing up and waving his hand.
“Haha! I will vanquish you de-ah!” He cried out when he was flung into the wall. “Virgil! I wasn’t do-hey!” He rolled away from the massive boulder that was heading for him. “Let me fin- ISH!” He ducked when the throne itself was thrown, almost landing on top of him.
“Sorry Princey, I can’t hear you~” He purred, throwing a ball of dark magic at him, watching Roman rolling and dodging everything he threw at the prince. He continued, walking closer to him. “You’re so funny, you know? It’s adorable when you-” He cut off with a squeak when the prince charged at him, knocking him back so he fell onto the floor, Roman hovering over him.
“Finally!” Roman gasped, his face flushed. “God damn will you let me finish my speech now?” He was stopped when Virgil pulled him down and pressed their lips together. He sighed, leaning in and brushing back the emo’s hair.
When Virgil pulled away, he was smirking up at Roman. “No, I don’t think so. I’d rather you be quiet and kiss me or go back to being a trick monkey for me.”
Roman paused, before shrugging. “Kisses it is, I suppose.” He pressed their lips together once more, this kiss being sweeter than the first. One of these days he was going to get Virgil to play properly, but until then he would continue to kiss his boyfriend and give him every bit of affection he could.

Roman approached the meadow, a bouquet of roses in his hold along with a single cupcake decorated in purple in one hand. “Happy Valentine’s day Love. I came back as promised. I’m sorry I’m late, the bakery was packed today.”
It’s okay Roman, I’m so glad to see you again. It feels like it’s been forever.
“It was only the other day when I last saw you, but I missed you so much.”
I missed you too Roman. How are Logan and Patton doing? They don’t come by anymore.
“Logan and Patton are alright. They adopted a son you know, his name is Emile and he is a little sweetheart. I think you two would get along well, he is so friendly, just like Patton. And he has a brain that could rival Logan’s, even if Logan refuses to admit it.” Roman leaned against the grey stone sticking up, brushing his hand over the words that were inscribed onto it. In loving memory of Virgil Prince. Beloved Son, brother and Husband. 20xx-2019.
Roman sniffled, leaning against the stone. “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry I wasn’t home that day. I know I say it a lot and you’re probably sick of hearing it, but I’m so sorry. If only I stayed home with you that day, I should of listened when you said you had a bad feeling. I’m so sorry,” he choked out, tears filling his eyes and running down his cheeks.
Roman please, it isn’t your fault. I don’t blame you for any of it.
“It’s all my fault, no matter what you’re saying right now. I just.....fuck, I promised myself I wouldn’t cry,” he mumbled, looking down. “Fuck I just....I just want to see you again. To come home to see you in the kitchen, baking your famous lasagna again. I......wish I could of changed everything. I just fucking wish.....why? Why does the world hate me?” Roman sniffled, curling up against the tombstone.
I wish I could be there too....I wish I could still be by your side. I love you so much Roman, so much. Don’t worry, I’ll be here, only for you. I’ll be waiting for you, my sweet prince.

Hi, this’ll be my first post so bare with me. I’ve never been one to actually post on different social medias and I’m newer to Tumblr too, so if I sound too serious or off that’s probably why. Anyway, to my point;
I am probably going to post a lot of theories or deep dives into different characters from different fandoms and this will be my first! So, here’s a deep dive into Virgil from Sanders Sides; (Spoiler warnings ahead for like EVERY episode)
Let me know if you agree, disagree, or just your thoughts on this if you can, I would like to hear them! I think it would be interesting.
Janus was talking in todays (05/25/24) video, it made me realize that Virgil could’ve left because he wanted someone to be honest with him and show him sincerity, both things Janus hated, and every secret Virgil had would be used against him, his own name was, and that’s why he was afraid to say his name to everyone and now he’s probably realizing Pattons going down the same path he walked, and he’s trying to help his friend but there’s no use. He became closer with Roman because he showed him honesty, he was mean but apologized for his actions and showed him who he is, good and bad, and showed him sincerity when he pushed Thomas to talk to Nico. Virgil showed Roman he was because he was less scared, Roman had shown him who he is and so he will do so too, the purple eyeshadow. In the cheering up episode he was showing things to Roman that he liked, something he didn’t do with everyone because he was afraid of it being used against him, and in the gifting episode he heard Janus against Roman and got angry at Janus because Roman is his friend, someone he can finally trust, someone who won’t use it against him (Janus) or tease him (Remus, DWIT) and he and Roman have a bond where they can tease eachother or make jokes but know they’re jokes because they have trust. Virgil probably realizes that the dollar bill with Roman was special because Romans afraid of Failure and hes feeling like he fails with all his friends who are turning on him, so to give him something personal, or as Janus put it, ploy to his ego, it helps with his insecurity that he’s not significant, Virgil gets that because he had to loose everything he knew to gain what he has now, which is scary and puts you at the bottom of a pit you have to climb out of.
If someone said to you, “I’m not angry” but looked super angry wouldn’t that make you upset? Or if you showed something to them and they said “I really like it” when they have a look of disgust on their face. This is something I feel Janus would do from his mannerisms in the newer videos with Remus.
I think that Janus is someone who can be easily trusted at first, the one you feel finally understands you or is finally nice to you but as you go on with being friends you realize it was all a lie, the relationship’s foundation was built on lies. Remus doesn’t care, nor has he left Janus so their friends. Virgil cared, and left, so Janus is angry at him and uses everything against him- maybe he did it before too. Maybe Virgil saw how the others acted towards him and changed his original motive, sometimes when you see something doesn’t have to be a certain way, you don’t want it to be a certain way. Example being, you can cut the grass with scissors but if you find that tedious or don’t like it, change what you’re doing, make it easier, make it nicer for yourself. Same goes with being around people, you don’t have to be around people who make you upset, or you realize make you upset, because that’s all you know. It’s scary, so scary from experience but when you’re on the other side it’s clearer, nicer, happier— and the fact that Virgil can trust someone so much now that he can finally show them something he likes or the purple eyeshadow is just showing how much better he is, even if it might seem like he’s walking backwards, he’s not, he’s in the clear for the most part.
Virgil is only “going backwards” with saying he’s like the cousin, I don’t think that means he wishes he was back there, I think he means that’s where he’s from, that’s what he knows more, he doesn’t exactly feel like a light side probably, so he’ll assume he just still feels like a dark side. He’s probably afraid that his relationship with Patton is deteriorating over Janus, he’s afraid Patton’s mad at him because of the “I’m not mad at you” but looks upset thing that probably happened with Janus.( I’ve had people do this and it does affect me like that so that’s why I’m saying this) But Virgil would rather protect Patton from him and have Patton dislike him than to stand back and let it happen I’m guessing- I could be wrong though. And, in the video where Janus and Patton are in the woods it’s noted that Janus doesn’t share much about himself to Patton, he might not want people to do what he does in turn.
Maybe that’s why Janus doesn’t like Roman, because he is mean to those he doesn’t trust and then once they know each-other is nice, and trusting and sincere. He doesn’t like him because he didn’t trust him without batting an eye, he realized what road he was on at the start and it crumbled a lot faster than anyone around hims did- immediate, or almost immediate distrust made Janus not like him since there isn’t much to use, just ploys to an ego and that is all. Roman is sincere towards Virgil and Virgil likes that, Janus could be angry that his friend is with someone new and angry at that friend. Janus can make all these remarks and they don’t matter until Roman speaks up and it’s Romans fault. Janus did what he did with Virgil to Roman, found what was important to him, an insecurity, and used it against him. Roman was quick to know the game, but he doesn’t know how to win the game.
All of this, or even some of it could be stuff that people have already realized and known, but I find it intriguing and interesting to think about dynamics and what goes on in peoples heads.

Some of these are like four years old, some are three years old and some are newer. Some are VERY random, like a Hamilton type one (my defense, it was four years ago lol) a fantasy one, and a mystery/secret type one
OKAY, FINALLY DOING THE AU THING BUT AS BULLET POINTS;
The Hamilton AU:
- Janus found Virgil randomly and adopted him
- Logan was kinda a lawyer
- Remus worked overseas/wasn’t pictured much but it was mentioned he might’ve been serving in the military or somethin’
- Patton and Roman were friends
- Roman was married to someone else, a woman, who would help hide him and she had a daughter from a pervious relationship so he stepped into the dad role for her
- Logan was more of the “you did WHAT?” kind of guy and I forget who did what but they needed a lawyer and Patton found him and he was just like ..*sigh* why… (could’ve sworn it was Roman or Virgil)
- Janus took care of Virgil and was his dad and was protective
- I listed to Satisfied a lot and it became Roman’s song (basically)
- -100/10 I’m afraid of judgement although it was interesting
(This one was created in like late 2020 so judge my past self, not my current self please, I know it’s awful already)
Fantasy;
- ALL TIME FAVORITE AU
- Basically, everything that has happened in Sanders Sides did actually happen here
- There was this door at the very edge of the imagination (imagination is like this cool garden)
- When you go through it there’s this new world with like Dragons and waterfalls and mountains
-In the AU, there’s a person who is part dragon and has wings but is human and she hides from everyone cuz she’s scared
- Then it turns out that her own brother who’s not part dragon is totally against her and betrays her and the entire world there so she has to finally talk to someone
-She gets Roman and he relays it and everyone’s like “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL US SOONER????” towards her (there’s a lot of what the hell moments in my AUs)
- 8/10 love this one because of how pretty the other world was
This one was created summer of 2021 and 90% created while I was swinging and spacing out
Mystery/Secret/Split AU;
- This one I still sometimes incorporate into current ones!
-Basically, at one point, the light sides and dark sides were friends and all lived in the same area- no need for travel they were all there
- Janus and Patton were both the leaders of them
- Then they started arguing and it all broke into two- Janus being the leader of the Darksides and Patton the light sides
- They were all young when it happened but Remus and Roman remembered playing together and sharing a room as kids
- That area was abandoned
- Then, Roman and Virgil are messing around (present) and find this secret door and open it by stealing Patton’s keys
- Annnnnddd it shuts behind them and they’re stuck but they’re intrigued by what’s there so they look around
- There was a bookshelf, Logan’s, and it was all dusty and cobwebbed
- They keep looking and find Roman and Remus’s old room and remember EVERYTHING
- They get VERY angry
- Meanwhile, everyone’s like “uhh where’d they go??” And Patton realizes that his keys aren’t in his nightstand anymore and Janus scolds him
- Everyone’s trying to lie to Thomas as to why Roman and Virgil aren’t there (a lot of the lies coming from Remus) and he starts to get suspicious
- Roman eventually realizes that the imaginations connect and Patton comes out and realizes what happened
- 10/10 still use it and still like it
Was created also in 2021 but more like fall of 2021 after I had a dream and went HUH THATS COOL I CAN CHANGE SOME PARTS (dream was weird, Roman and Virgil were getting hit by these two kids with like water balloons and then they chased the kids and then Roman threw one back at the kids and they went inside and NOBODY was there and they were freaked out)
I really hope that these don’t like upset anybody- I’ve been timid to share them for that reason, especially the Hamilton one, so I already know there’s some “…” parts but I don’t make AUs like those anymore anyway- but I think I’ll start posting more recent fanfics that I hope to make in order to get better at writing
I have a random head-cannon (kinda a human au but also not) where Roman and Patton met in High-school and had been best friends since, Janus was also there but lied about his name to them so when Roman realizes he’s like “DAVID?!” (I randomly came up with that name, zero ideas behind it, it just came to me) Roman hated Janus in high-school, even when he dated Patton (it’s a moceit au too) and it was mutual, kinda where they both gave eachother the side eye whenever they crossed paths and argued lightly
Okay, so, I’m writing a Sanders Sides fanfic and I was wondering,

OKAY! SO!
The ships are still to be determined, but Moceit is a kind of definite as the series goes on, it’ll make more sense after I post Chapter one tonight, but the others would probably be like Intrulogical and Prinxiety. Ships will not be the main point of the series though, what I mean is that they won’t be the entire plot of it- you aren’t just reading it for the ship, it’s more of another aspect of it. Like in Percy Jackson how in the original series, the main point is to defeat Kronos rather than center around Percabeth. I hope you get what I’m meaning, and the prologue and chapter one will explain it a little more. Those two are mostly explaining things so it’s a little less confusing.

Chapter One
Sing-songs and The Smiths
Word Count: 1358
TW: Not really any other than minor Roman angst
“I thought you guys didn’t go to college or have families or anything like that?” Thomas asked, realizing he didn’t know as much about the sides as he thought.
“Let me explain this time since I wasn’t there last time it was explained to you” Roman said, glaring at Logan as he turned back to Thomas, “You created backstories for us, our families, our personalities, what we did at school, etcetera. It’s kind of like we’re each our own human with our own backstories. For example, I went to high school with Patton and some kid named David-“
“DAVID! I wonder what he’s up to..” Patton interrupted excitedly.
“So, it was me, not you Roman?” Thomas questioned, his eyes slightly squinting.
“Yeah- it wasn’t him. I mean why would he create such a backstory for himself or anyone here when it could’ve been so different- if he could choose, it’d be dystopian or almost medieval.” Virgil explained, crossing his legs as he sat on the steps, looking towards the ceiling as he threw a purple bean bag into the air.
“Coool… So wait, if you guys have families, who are they? Are they sides?” Thomas asked.
“They can step in if we can’t for some reason, or if they just want to. My sister does and then she likes to try to argue with Janus when she comes to visit.” Virgil dropped the bean bag next to him and sat up, “She likes to visit, she’s friends- or semi-friends with Remus and likes to hang out in my room.”
“Well, I think that’s enough information for today, I think I should be heading to bed, it’s getting late.” Thomas huffed.
“Yes, we wouldn’t want you getting off schedule.” Logan moved his glasses up closer to his eyes, crossing his arms before giving him a look of “go on”.
^~ Flashback ~^
Roman laid on his bed, staring blankly at his ceiling. It’s tough to deal with everyone but you being a favorite of your dad. He started to try to imagine a different world, a different place where it was calmer and he didn’t have to worry about that anymore. It made him feel safer and relaxed. A serene room where he could create anything. Completely white, and as he imagined his ideas would spark onto the walls, an automatic visual. His thoughts were starting to get louder though, so he pulled on his green sweatshirt with a college logo on it, and went outside. It was cool outside, he could hear how his blue converse’s hit the pavement or how his dark blue jeans were a bit too long and would scrape against the ground.
He knew once he got to Patton’s house, he’d feel a lot better but his house was two miles away and past a busy street. He pressed the crossing button and stuffed his hands back into the sweatshirt.
Once he started to reach Patton’s house, he noticed that Patton’s siblings were home too, playing out in the yard. His younger brother and sister were playing with a soccer ball and arguing over it. Emile, the middle child, looked very similar to younger Patton, although he had light brownish hair with his blue eyes. He liked to read in the tree outside normally, but he was playing with his seven year old sister, Beatrice, everybody called her Betty though. She was very different from her older brothers, she did have light blonde hair with pretty tight curls and always liked to debate. They only had a four year age gap, versus between Patton and Emile it was almost six. Roman wished he had a better relationship with his siblings like those three did, they were very close knit.
Roman did however notice a familiar car in the driveway, “Hey Emile, Betty, is Patton home?” He asked, knowing he most likely was, but wanted to see if who he thought was there, was there too.
“Yeah, David’s there too, they’re in his room.” Emile answered, he stepped on the soccer ball to stop his sister from getting it, although she tried.
After he answered, she stopped for a moment to go, “Oooooh David” in a very sing-song tone, her smile was noticeably different as she had lost one of her front teeth.
Roman started to chuckle from the teasing, he knew there was likely nothing going on between the two other than friendship, but it was still funny to hear her say that. Although, if she were mentioning it like that, had there been something she had known that Roman didn’t know, he wondered.
David was someone Roman didn’t particularly like because of how snarky he had been towards Roman. He wasn’t exactly sure when that had started, or even why it started, but it was happening and they got on eachothers nerves a lot because of how defensive the two were. Patton and David probably saw it as playful banter, but Roman saw it as someone who didn't like him or was getting at him.
Patton met David in middle school, but Roman wasn’t properly introduced to him until his freshman year of high school. David had dark brown hair with bright green eyes and tended to wear band t-shirts. Roman was pretty sure that David hadn’t listened to some of those bands, nor got them at the concerts like he had swore he did. In fact, a lot of their arguments started because he would lie about things that you normally didn’t need to lie about, like about the time he swore he was an only child until his sister had come to ask him a question. Roman wasn’t sure what his reasoning for lying about those things were, but he didn’t care very much to get to the point of it.
Roman had been to Patton’s house quite a bit as he got older. He didn’t like to be at home where his parents would fuss and favor his older sister and twin brother. He hated how clear the favoritism was from his father especially. Truly, his father had more favoritism for his siblings than his mother ever would. He had enough pride for his two eldest for it to go around he and his wife.
Patton’s room was on the second floor and down a small hallway, it was a very naturally lit house, and it mimicked his personality. Normally, Patton’s door was shut, but when he had friends over he liked to keep it open so he had more of a warning when Emile and Betty would run in arguing. His room was open, and he saw David in ANOTHER band shirt, this time for The Smiths. He and Patton were on the bed talking, David and him would both talk and make hand motions at the same time so they sometimes would accidentally hit each other's hands in the process.
“OH I’M SORRY!” Patton exclaimed, his hands grabbing David’s in a sign of comfort.
“Pat, it’s completely fine. It didn’t hurt and it’s not like you were deliberately meaning to do that- were you?” David raised an eyebrow, clearly knowing that he didn’t mean to but trying to get him to say it. A slight blush was forming on his face the longer they held hands, Roman was starting to question if Betty was actually correct.
“OF COURSE NOT! I don’t like violence!” He grabbed his hands back from him and held them up as if to defend himself.
“Hey guys” Roman said knocking on the open door, Patton seemed happy the conversation was changing.
“Roman! How are you, everything alright at home?” Patton got up to hug him, it was a little awkward since it was difficult for Roman to hug him back. David slightly smiled at him, a simple gesture he normally did to say hello to him.
Maybe it would all work out in the end. Maybe, he would just need to get through this difficult time to get to the part that he’d enjoy so much more. Five years down the road, married and would be able to look back and smile knowing he’s done it.
For some reason, whenever I think about the darksides Mind Palace and rooms, I ALWAYS think of it as like a dimly lit one floor house.
Head-cannons I have;
-Virgil and Roman play semi-horror games together and sometimes, if a game has lore, Logan will join them and they’ll all try to band together to get to the bottom of it.
-Virgil and Roman would watch those cheesy romance movies and absolutely judge the entirety of it, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? YOU HAVE A FIANCÉ IN CALIFORNIA WHY ARE YOU KISSING YOUR CHILDHOOD CRUSH??” (Roman) “THE MOM IS GOING TO INVITE THE FIANCÉ TO THE DINNER SECRETLY AND SHES GONNA BRING THE CRUSH AS A SURPRISE AND HER RELATIONSHIPS WILL BE DONE” (Virgil)
- Patton most of the time likes to spend his time alone, in his own room or hanging out in quiet places. He’d find a place and just sit down and read.
- Logan, with any TV show, judges it similarly to how Roman does.
