coterie: the black leather bracelet (1/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

pairing: lee hangyul and y/n

a/n: sexual themes, cursing, mentions of alcohol and drugs, so proceed with caution.

the thin black leather weaved around your hand like it’s known the accessory for years now. as you showed the group, your cheeks reddened and your eyes widened, as the guy who flirtatiously introduced himself to you stepped up. ugh, you should have known. “oh, yeah!” he yelps, stepping forward, and hope over to give you a high five, which you timidly reciprocate. “you’re freaking her out, hangyul,” seungwoo scolds the boy, who pouts in response. “thanks for being a party pooper, hyung. anyways, y/n, meet me at the terrace tonight at 7. sharp. I’ll be waiting.” and with one more wink and a smirk, hangyul slips off down another hallway. pretty soon, you leave the group of boys, heading back into your own room. hangyul, you think. the name’s quite nice if it weren’t for the fact that his glare felt like a predator watching its prey. you only know what that look can lead to because as surprised as people usually get when you talk about it, you’re not a virgin. when you tell people that, the first thing they say is, “really?”, as if you admitted to something crazy. you’re in college, and your parents aren’t on your ass 24/7, and you’re also a functioning teen with raging hormones; it was going to happen eventually. but, just because you’ve lost your virginity, you definitely weren’t a sex-crazed person. you knew your limits, and in short, didn’t get much sex because, well, school and your future’s also been a more important priority (“as it should be,” you recall telling soobin when she tried to drag you to the club one Friday night... of course, you won that night and were binge-watching shows whilst she was out and about.) but even so, you’re very aware of what that look can lead to, and you don’t want to smash someone you will be working with, especially since you’ve just met. yeah, he was a good-looking guy, and you’re damn sure he knows it. his piercing gaze is what you see when you bounce onto your bed and shut your eyes and you let out a frustrated groan before you check the time. it was almost 7; the dark hours of the night came much faster than you liked. you took the leather bracelet with you, which you had tightly clenched in your palm when you returned to your room, as you left to the terrace. you wanted to return the piece of jewelry in case he’d wanted it back or something- you certainly didn’t want to keep it. you reached the terrace a few minutes after 7 and found hangyul standing with his back facing you, and his hands in his pocket. at the sound of your footsteps, he turned around. the wind blew threw his grey-dyed locks, and the moonlight reflected upon them, creating a halo-like effect. “ah, y/n, you’re late. but I guess better late than never, am I right?” he chuckles and shuffles closer to you until his face is inches away from yours. your eyes flutter at his sudden proximity and he scoffs, “why’re you nervous, princess? never been this close to a guy before?” who does he think he is, you think and you step back, squinting at him, irked. “no, I just like to keep my distance, that’s all,” you start. your outburst catches hangyul off guard but you continue anyway. “here’s your bracelet, pal,” you give it to him and he slips it back on right away, before saying, “it’s a shame you picked me, then.”

your eyebrows scrunch up at his remark. “what do you mean?” hangyul gives you one final smile before turning back towards the sky and replacing his hands back into his pockets. “you don’t know what I do, do you?” you shook your head, and responded, “no, I don’t, but the way you said that... makes me curious.” “I’m sure you are familiar with a... femme fatale, right?” he says. “a female who seduces people and fucks them up, for lack of better words,” you explain and his eyebrows go up. “wow, you know your stuff,” he praised, and you relaxed a bit. “yeah, I’ve seen a few characters like that in movies and stuff, so I am familiar with it.” hangyul’s smile is small as he says, “well, my job on this team is similar, to say the least. I’m the homme fatale of this team; the goal of this job is to get as close I can get to my targets, just so I can get enough information out of them, to hand over to our clients to use against them. how I get close to them, well, I’ll leave that to your imagination,” the wind picks up in temperature and speed, and you shiver. seeing this, hangyul, who was clad in a leather jacket, slid said article of clothing off his shoulders and draped it over you instinctively. “thanks,” you mumble, and you’re so glad it’s dark out because you feel your face getting a bit hot. “no problem. listen, if you don’t want to do this job, I get it. I won’t force you into doing anything you don’t want to do. I can talk to seungwoo and maybe he can find something else for you to do if you’re not comfortable with the idea. so before you make any sort of decision, I wanna give you some time. I understand that working with me, especially with the job I have, you may get uncomfortable easily. I mean, it’s not hard to notice how you’ve kind of tensed up since I mentioned the details. forget that, you look uncomfortable around me, and we haven’t even seen each other for a day.” you bite the inside of your cheek and keep your gaze on the ground. you sigh, before looking back at him, “it’s nothing, honestly. I just... it takes me time to warm up to someone. I guess you can say I never really act like myself around someone until I’ve had a better understanding of who they are, and I think they have a better understanding of who I am. so, if I made it seem like I don’t like you, that’s not the case at all. yeah, I’m slightly uncomfortable, but I’m genuinely like that with most people I meet for the first time.” hearing you speak up, the corner of hangyul’s mouth lifts up slightly. “that’s good. at least now I know you don’t hate me. but, regardless of what you say I’ll give you a few days. sleep on it, come to a decision and then let me know. and until then, stay warm, sugar.” his tongue runs along his lower lip before he leaves you in the terrace, his jacket still resting warmly against your body.

you go back to your room and shut the door. god, you think, you must’ve made a wrong first impression on him. well, to be fair, you did find his actions, uhh, violating. maybe it showed on your face. you feel your heart drop slightly and you feel the anxiety rise in you. great, now you feel bad. “why do things have to be so complicated?” your voice becomes muffled in your pillow, as you press it against your face and exaggerate a whine. it takes you a few moments to think about it. seungwoo told you that who you used to be won’t matter in this job. nor will whatever you do in this job affect your future life. confusion fogged your head, and you didn’t know what to do. the only thing you could hear was hangyul telling you to think about it before coming to a decision. then, your vision started to blur before everything went completely black.

you saw a nightclub; neon lights and the smell of booze quite fresh in the air, and sounds of people around you mixed terribly with the bass of the music. through the dancing drunken youth, against the bar counter sat two familiar figures. one of them was hangyul, who had taken down a shot of tequila, with a pretty girl securely wrapped in his free arm, his hand how caressing her waist and next to him, was you. you looked almost unrecognizable, but you knew it was you, it had to be. your hair was done all nice, and you were in a shimmery, gold mini dress, and heels. you seemed to be drunk, by the way your head was moving, struggling to stay steady. then you turned around and saw your gaze fixated in your direction, and a small smirk painted your red lips. you got out of your seat and walked through the sweaty crowds of people, only to balance yourself on the shoulders of some guy, and before anything could be done, you kissed him square on the lips. one thing led to another, and you managed to drag the boy into a corner, where you climbed on top of him, your lips now on his neck. things were getting hot and heavy, and before anyone could take it a step further, the boy froze. why? because the girl who was giving him a good time stopped to press a gun against his abdomen. “give me the syringes you have in your pockets, like a good boy,” you whispered against his ear. his shaky hands reached into his pockets and pulled out the drug-filled instruments then placed them in your free hand. “very good, baby. now that I have evidence against you, and there is a video recording of this being made, I’m going to make this very clear,” you start off, your thumb running across his quivering bottom lip. “you don’t want to ruin daddy’s reputation when he finds out this is what you’ve been using the tuition money for, right? he thinks he’s sent his son to a fine, foreign university, when really, he’s here blowing that money on prostitutes and drugs.” the boy shakes his head no, and the smirk appears once again on your smeared red mouth. “then take this pretty little face of yours, and move away to a different city. or country, I don’t give a fuck. but step away from mr. park’s daughter. he’s caught on to your little act, and if he finds you around his daughter again, remember the gun is only here, but I won’t hesitate to shoot next time. got it?” the boy stutters out a response before you give him a sickeningly sweet smile and then whisper, “now, shoo.”

you sit up, breathing heavily in the room. you blink rapidly and realize it was all a dream, but man, were you a badass or what? you feel this adrenaline rush through your veins, and it feels so fucking good. this is all it took? a dream to convince you that you wanted to take this job? apparently, it was more than enough because when the next day rolls around, and you’re looking for hangyul, you find him once again on the terrace the next night. you clear your throat, and hangyul turns around, a quizzical look in his eyes. taking a deep breath before  releasing it, your gaze meets his before you say, “I’ve come to a decision, and yes, I’ll take the job.” hangyul’s eyebrows go up in surprise, and before he has a chance to express anything, you say, “I made this decision on my own, and yeah, I’m aware of any danger it could put me in, but I’m willing to try it out. for the fun of it.” hangyul laughs at this, before nodding, “alright, princess. welcome aboard.”

coterie: the black leather bracelet (2/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

pairing: lee hangyul and y/n

a/n: mentions of sex (I couldn’t write actual smut to save my life), cursing, and mentions of alcohol and drugs, so proceed with caution. this is also LONG.

In the first few weeks, you spend observing hangyul’s work. he insisted that you should observe him so that when it comes to your assignment you don’t ask him questions. you thought it was a dick move on his part, but in hindsight, you’re positive that he knows what he’s doing. during the time you’ve observed his actions, you’ve also warmed up more to hangyul. after you made it clear that you were uncomfortable with all the flirting, he stopped. he’s got a sarcastic sense of humor, which is always active, and you’ve started to notice this growing sympathy towards hangyul; given the job he has, he’s a completely different person in actuality, and, unfortunately, not many people get to see it. finally, once the week is over, hangyul brings you the information for your first client the very next morning. it’s a manila folder with your name neatly written on one of the corners, and he hands it to you after breakfast. “here’s your first target, y/n. name’s jang juhyeok. his dad is the head of the national intelligence service, and they have some evidence that we’d like to have back. I’ve asked wooseok to compile all his information and have put it in this folder, for you. this is the first and last time I’ll be doing this for you, though. now you know who to go to if you need any information on him.” you stop him before he can leave, and ask, “so, what now, do I just find him and try to become friends with him?” hangyul understands your confusion as to where to begin, so he thinks a bit before answering, “ultimately the goal is to lure him in, somehow. you decide what you wanna do and how you wanna do it. I’d suggest going to places that he commonly visits and just trying to paint a picture and create a story. I don’t know what else to tell you other than good luck. now, I’ve got to get to my target, so I’ll see you around.” and with that, he waved and left you at the door to your room. the corner of your room had a desk space, where you set up things like your laptop and such. taking a seat there, you decided to open up the file and familiarize yourself with its contents. this guy, juhyeok, is a senior at another university in the city and is a business major. in the profile are details about his social life, academics, and something like a day-to-day schedule that he follows. you look over the schedule and this dude’s a party-goer, a gym fanatic and is still managing to get by with good grades in school. a perfect guy? impossible. there must be something you can use against him, you start to think, and then, you see it. under ‘hobbies’, there is the name of a club, where he DJs. “perfect, I’ll start from here. maybe then I’ll get some starting point figured out.” you mumble to yourself as you read through the notes provided by wooseok. you find out juhyeok DJs on friday nights. that only gives you...wait, that’s in a couple of hours. you get up out of your chair and rush over to your closet, rummaging through the clothes to see if you can find something just right for the occasion. just when you think you can’t find anything, you see it; haseul bought a short black dress to take you clubbing for your birthday months back. you went, though you stayed away from the drinks for the most part because ultimately you would be the designated driver. you didn’t get rid of the dress, because it was a nice dress, just not something you’d buy for yourself. you never thought you’d ever need it desperately but a night like tonight required the attire. you quickly changed into it and got ready to go out. you called soonja, “is there a mode of transportation available at this time?” she told you the driver should be outside, and she’ll call for him to be ready. and you grabbed a coat and your purse before heading down. on your way out, you collided with a body, who was none other than hangyul. his eyes went wide. “where are you going?” you tried to ignore his gaze scanning you from head to toe, and answered him, “going after my target. wish me luck.” and when the driver came around, you walked away from hangyul, unaware of his lingering gaze on you.

as soon as you told the driver where you wanted to go, you began to come up with your story. you couldn’t give away your true identity and you certainly didn’t want the guy to ever be able to find you again. you conjured a tale with the help of wooseok, and by the time you reached the club, you’d gone over it a few times. you thanked him before letting him know to be back in around two hours. that should give you more than enough time to introduce yourself to the guy. the atmosphere of the club resembled the one you saw in your dream heavily. the fumes of the various alcohols were suffocating, and the sticky floors covered in god knows what clung slightly as you walked around amongst the crowds of people, until you managed to get to the center of the dance floor. there, at the dj booth stood juhyeok, bopping his head along to the music, messing with the records in front of him. you start to dance, eyes trained on him, waiting for him to look up. bodies are hitting yours, but you still somehow manage to move your body as if you’re the only one there. and luck’s on your side because as juhyeok’s gaze flickers up for a second, it comes back and is trained on you and your body. you take this moment and direct a smile and a wink towards him, which he reciprocated with a smile of his own. he calls someone over, and when they get to him, he hands them the dj headphones and is on his way down. you feel yourself getting nervous but you make your way over to the bar and down a shot of tequila to calm your tense nerves when you feel a tap on the shoulder. you turn around and there is juhyeok. “hi, I’ve never seen you around here. are you new to town?” you get into character and smirk, “you could say that. I never have time to come down to party, so I thought since I had nothing to do tonight, why not?” he sits you down, a beer in his hand and a martini in your own, and you tell him your “story”, about how you used to live in a nearby city, and when your job transferred you, you’d been so flooded with work that you rarely had time to sit and relax. you tell him about your job as an accountant, which you’re positive that he’ll check on. silently thanking wooseok, you almost missed it when juhyeok asked you for coffee the next morning. “you know, I’m gonna need your name and number for that.” for a short second, you’re about to say your own name but then remember, “I just got a new phone, so give me your number, and I’ll text you my name. but for now, I need to go.” he narrates his number to you, and he grabs your wrist, only to kiss the back of your hand. “tomorrow?” you smile at him, “tomorrow.” and you do eventually text him, and one thing leads to another, you start to gain juhyeok’s trust. of course, as your relationship gets stronger, you begin to spend more time around him. he is convinced you guys are a couple, and you’ve got him exactly where you want him. one night, when you returned from the club, you entered the house and found hangyul sitting on the couch. in his hand was a glass, filled halfway with some liquid you assumed was alcohol. said assumption came true because when you approached him, he looked up at you, with a wave of anger looming in his red eyes. “do you know how late it is, y/n? I get it, you’re doing fucking amazing, but please, make it back home at an earlier time than two in the fucking morning. I don’t care if that’s ruining the fun, or whatever, just-” you scoff, rolling your eyes. “and who are you to tell me when to get home? relax, hangyul, I know what I’m doing. just let me do my job. and for pete’s sake, stop babying me.” your speech is a little slurred, but you continue, “I’ve almost got him. now I just need to get him alone, in a secluded area. I plan on taking him to the sunflower fields tomorrow, and there’s a small shed on the way there. that’s where I’ll put him.” “stop babying you? stop acting as if you’ve been doing this job forever! you’re still new, don’t forget that. I know that it’s unsafe for anyone to be out at this time, but if you don’t care, it’s not my fucking problem!” hangyul huffed and moved closer to you. you can smell the faint alcohol radiating from him. at this point, your face is inches away from hangyul’s and you slip on a sleepy smile and shut your eyes.

“alright, alright, I got it. but could you keep it down? my head hurts and I’m so tired,” your balance is slipping away from you, and you trip over nothing, falling forward. luckily, hangyul catches you before anything can happen, and your upper body is awkwardly leaning against hangyul’s chest, with his arms wrapped around your waist uncomfortably. he shifts a bit and adjusts one of his arms under your knees so that now he’s carrying you bridal style. you’re knocked out, and fall asleep with your head buried in the junction between hangyul’s shoulder and neck. he feels your breaths against his skin as he takes you up the stairs and into your room. he gently places you down on your bed, and unhooks your arms from around him, before reaching down and putting your blanket over you. your hand catches his just before he leaves, and you tug him down, catching him off-guard. the moonlight that once reflected a halo on him now illuminated the brilliant features of your face, and your tired gaze managed to look saccharine at the same time. “c’ mere,” you whisper and hangyul obliges, moving his face closer to your own. your eyes move down from his small widow’s peak to his deep umber eyes, down his nose bridge and stop at his pink mouth. he seemed to read your mind because he finds himself coming closer to you. your actions resemble his own, and you tilt your head up just enough so that soon, your lips collide with his own. at first, there is no movement. but hangyul gathers his strength and kisses you, slowly as if he’s taking you in second by second. your hands move out of your blanket to cradle his face, and his move to hold your covered waist. the passion gets stronger as does the fire growing in the pit of your stomach. you need more contact, you think but your train of thought quickly fades away, as hangyul’s mouth starts to wander down your neck, wanting to touch every inch of you. a strangled gasp leaves your mouth and hangyul loves the sound of it. the night brings many similar sounds coming from the both of you and the thought of sleep came around much later than it was originally intended to.

the next morning arrived fast. the sun shone down on you from the window, and you woke up to a pounding head and a sore body, and it only took you a few seconds to realize that you were completely naked also. you tried to get up, but something, or rather, someone was holding you back. a bare arm was holding you tight around the waist, and you turned to see sprawled next to you was hangyul, exposed from the shoulder up. you didn’t need to check to see if he was naked or not, and the events from the night before were hazy, but still managed to bring a blush to your face. “uh, hangyul. get up.” you tapped his arm, holding the blanket around your upper body to guard yourself. “hangyul,” you were a bit louder this time, and see him reaching to rub his face. once his eyes adjust to the light, he sits up before looking over at you. his eyes shoot open. “wha- oh. uh... hmm.” his hand goes back to scratch the back of his head, but hangyul’s eyes were fixed on his lap. “we had sex last night.” he said after some moments of being silent. “yeah, we did.” hangyul peers up at you through his lashes, almost contemplating about saying something. he sits up straight, alerting you, and reaches over to his side to slip on his briefs. “we won’t talk about this anymore. pretend it never happened. what happened last night was... unprofessional. it was my fault, I should’ve been more aware of myself.” you don’t know why you felt a dull pain in your chest when he said that, but you agree. “yeah, don’t worry. forgiven and forgotten. it was a drunk mistake,” you said and hangyul, who was turned away from you, winced a bit when you said that. one by one, he and you pick up the articles of clothing you’d thrown on the ground mere hours ago, and hangyul dresses himself and turns away as you do the same, out of respect. you walk him to the door, and he turns and says, “today, you’re meeting juhyeok in that sunflower field? I’ll get there a bit earlier, and I’ll be near the shed, ready and waiting for your signal, okay? I’ll have a mic in there, so find a way to say the word, “the bird is in the nest”. it sounds weird, but it’s a specific enough phrase. work it into a conversation or something, that’s when I’ll come in. until then, bye.” you shut the door and calm yourself from the whirlwind of emotions going through you. fuck it. it’s about time you admit to yourself that you've found him attractive for a long time. and you felt like shit when he treated your...union as a mistake. you don’t hold any other position in his head other than a co-worker and it shouldn’t matter what he thinks but it does. and you wish nothing more than to stay here, in your bed all day, but you need to get ready because you’ve gotta get to juhyeok’s house. you get dressed, grab your purse and your phone and leave your room. as you walk down the set of stairs you see hangyul in the foyer and make brief eye contact with him. he mouths, “are you leaving now?” you nod and he gives you a thumbs up. you’re down the stairs completely and are walking towards the entrance, where the car is ready. hangyul, who’s walking to a separate vehicle, looks at you and says, “I’ll leave now. see you soon.” and steps inside the car, before driving off.

the drive to juhyeok’s house seemed too fast, but that’s probably because you are shaking in nervousness. you can only hope things will go your way, and that you’ve had a successful mission. the only thing you feel bad about, if anything, is that you’ve messed with juhyeok this entire time. sure, the guy’s not perfect, but you still did share some connection with him; it’s just not mutual. you get to his house, where he’s waiting for you and waving. “I thought you were gonna ditch me,” he tells you as he reaches out to give you a hug that you lightly return. “I wouldn’t ditch you. come, let’s go! I wanna get some good pictures!” you feel his stare linger on you a little longer, but you move around him to sit in the car. it’s a silent drive on your way there; the field isn’t too far, but it was no five-minute drive. you were quiet, staring out of the window or messing around with your phone. the only sound was the mixture of the music and static on the car radio. juhyeok decided to break the silence at some point, with “what’s on your mind?” his hand went over the console and rested on your thigh, his thumb running across it and giving you shudders. “it’s nothing. I just...have a feeling.” you weren’t lying: you had a sinking feeling in your stomach, but it usually felt like this when you were nervous, so you didn’t pay much attention. you started to see the yellow of the sunflowers as the car approached it closely. after some time, juhyeok parked the car, and turned to you. “well cheer up, y/n! we’re here! and I have a picnic basket full of goodies for us.” you smiled at his attempt to distract you, and teased “didn’t know you were capable of building a picnic basket for us, you dork. that’s too cute,” and he blushed a bit. you stepped outside the car and took in the beautiful scenery. it’s a shame you won’t have too much time to spend out here because the purpose of your visit is most certainly not recreational. it takes you two about an hour to settle down, enjoy the contents of the picnic basket, and take a few pictures. then you two lie next to each other on the red checkered sheet, and you look up at juhyeok, to find his gaze already on you. you lean in, according to your plan, and kiss him. he kisses you back and you quickly decide that he doesn’t kiss anything like hangyul. you both sit up, and you place yourself in his lap, then continue. things get intense, but your heart isn’t racing like it was when you were with hangyul. no adrenaline running through you, your senses aren’t going hazy, and you’re not craving more; all of which you felt with hangyul was absent with juhyeok. but you need to execute your plan, so you break away and whisper in his ear, “there’s a shed nearby, why don’t we go there?” it’s apparent that juhyeok approves of your idea, because he groans and nods feverishly, at a loss of words. you get up and walk him over to the shed. you walk in first, and before you can say anything, you feel it: a gun pressed against the back of your head.

“surprised?” juhyeok’s tone is completely different. the once dulcet-laced voice now rings with venom, and you can only nod, the rest of you shaking. juhyeok laughs darkly. “what did you think? I wouldn’t know why I’m here? something was off when I saw someone at the club who had never been there and managed to get close to me. my dad trained me from a very young age to take note of people like you. just be glad I haven’t killed you yet.” he keeps the gun on you but moves so that now the gun is pointing on your forehead, and he stands in front of you to see your trembling mouth and teary eyes, fearing for your life. you clench your hands and juhyeok grunts, pushing the gun against you even harder. you cry out in pain and he says, “ keep your hands at a visible place, otherwise, I’ll shoot. what did you take me for, an idiot? your game was easy to catch onto, and at first, I was only suspicious. but when you decided to bring me to a secluded area like the sunflower field, where the only other thing here is this bloody shed, my suspicions were confirmed. now, do you have anything to say before I kill you here and now? perhaps, who you’re working for and what you want from me?” it takes all the courage in you to look him in the eye, and clear your throat before saying, “all I have to say is: the bird is in the nest.” you say loud enough and juhyeok’s face morphs into one of confusion, but before he realizes anything, it’s too late. hangyul and a few other men have burst into the shed, from multiple locations, and they beat down juhyeok and start tying him up. the gun that was against your head now lies on the ground, and one of the men confiscates it. you run to a corner and watch as juhyeok still struggles with the men, kicking and jolting, but he is unsuccessful. hangyul walks over and puts a cloth over his mouth and juhyeok’s movements begin to seize, then stop completely. “he’s good, boys. you can take him. I’ll tell seungwoo hyung everything’s under control.” you lean against a wall in the shed, slowly moving down and for the love of god, you can’t stop shaking and your head hurts like hell. but a hand reaches out in front of you and you look to see hangyul, worry glazed in his eyes. you take it, and he helps you up. “hey, it’s okay. you’re safe now.” he rests his hands on your shoulders, but that only tips you over the edge, because then your arms wrap around his torso, and you pull him towards you, burying your face in his chest. hangyul hesitantly wraps his arms around you and places a peck on your forehead. you two are in this position for some time, until you hear the sound of someone clearing their throat. “sir, I just wanted to let you know that the man is in our car, we have successfully captured him.” hangyul steps away from you, who is now a nervous mess. “oh! okay, just keep me posted, and let me know when he gets there. I’ll send our interrogation team there.” the man, with a small smile on his face, nods affirmatively and walks away leaving the two of you in the shed.

“let’s go, you must be tired. we’re done here, anyway.” hangyul rambles and you nod, following him back to the car. he says he’s parked a few miles away, but that’s the only thing you hear because the sound of your heartbeat is starting to overpower his voice. suddenly he stops talking and you look up to find him looking back at you. “huh? I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you,” you bashfully tell him, looking at anything but him. “ I asked if you were okay.” you bit your lip and nodded, but hangyul wasn’t convinced. “it’s my fault, I should’ve trained you more, instead of throwing you in the situation unprepared.” you shook your head and voiced your opposition. “no, I don’t think it was your fault at all. I think I overestimated this job, and I wasn’t being mindful when it came to doing certain things. I should have paid more attention, but it’s most certainly not your fault.” you’ve reached the car, and hangyul opens the door for you, before going around the driver’s side and starting the car. the ride back home was quiet at first, but out of everything going through your head, there was one thought you felt obligated to voice. “he kissed me today, but it didn’t feel like you.” and if hangyul wasn’t already approaching a red light, he was sure he was going to brake in the middle of the road. “I didn’t enjoy it; yeah, I kissed him before, but after I kissed you, it didn’t feel right kissing him again. I know that I also shouldn’t get attached to the client, but I couldn’t. he was the perfect guy, but that was before I got to know you. and now, hangyul,” you turn and look at him, “I don’t want anyone else. my mr.perfect was with me all along.” he doesn’t say anything in response, and you feel your heart dropping slowly. you reach the house, and before he even turns the car off, you’ve opened the door and are trying to leave. “y/n!” you hear, and hangyul comes running over to you. you stop, but you feel embarrassed. maybe you shouldn’t have screwed it up. maybe now you’ve fucked up the only friendship this team had to of- your thoughts get cut off when hangyul lifts your face with his hands and kisses you. your hands drop your things and fly into his hair, kissing him back. you pull away after a bit and look at each other in the eyes. “you didn’t hear what I had to say,” he starts, thumb brushing against your cheek. you lean into his touch and he says, “you were breathtaking from the day I laid my eyes on you. I hadn’t felt that way before with anyone. you were perfect and still are. but at the time, I thought I didn’t stand the chance because, well, this job painted me a certain way. I thought you hated my guts, and I didn’t feel worthy enough to be yours. last night, you gave me an experience that I’ll never forget.” you blush and look away for a second, and he continues, “I felt even worse about it, and didn’t want it to get in the way of anything, that’s why I said what I said about it this morning. but I didn’t mean it. when I saw you today trembling in fear, I wanted to kill that bastard. trust me, I did, but luckily the other guys got their hands on him before I did. the point is, I feel the same way. and I’m so glad that I can finally call you mine. that is, if you’ll let me?” you laughed and pecked his lips again before saying, “of course. anything for you, hangyul.”

a/n: aaaand that’s over! sorry it took so long, I’ve been busy with packing! I’ll be going out of town for a few days so the next coterie will take some time. that’s why I made this one a little longer than usual. how did y’all like it? did you expect it to be hangyul? if not, who’d you think it was? let me know in the comments and as always, thank you guys for all the love and support you have given this series!!

coterie: the poker chip (1/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

pairing: cha junho and y/n

a/n: mentions of violence and cursing, so proceed with caution.

you held the poker chip out in front of everyone, making sure each of them could see it. before anyone says anything, you’re determined to figure out whose this is; there’s a guy who shows a defeated reaction, muttering something to the guy next to him. that guy’s face remains unchanged. you rule him out too, there’s no way this is his. there are a few of the guys who show relieved looks on their faces, and you rule them out too. who is it? seungwoo clears his throat, “it seems like you’ve picked junho, y/n. junho, go ahead and brief her. the rest of you, come with me, I’ve your assignments. junho, I’ll contact you later for yours.” and all but one of the boys follow seungwoo out of the room. the one you ruled out early on turned out to be the owner of the poker chip. he approached you, with the same blank look on his face and reached out his hand to introduce himself. you shook his hand with a confused look in your eyes. he seemed to notice, and he started, “you must be thinking why I didn’t react when you chose my object. come with me, I’ll explain it to you.” and he turned on his heel, before heading towards one of the many corners of the mansion. you followed him step after step, and he began to speak. his voice was low so in order to hear him clearer, you caught up to him, now walking side by side with junho. “first and foremost, I’m cha junho. I’m twenty years old, I have been a part of x1 for roughly three years now, but I’ve been in the business since I could walk.” you go down a hallway that gradually gets darker; are the lights dimming, or is there an overall absence of light from this area? it sure as shit can’t be that they can’t afford electricity. junho continues walking, and your pace starts to slow until finally, he comes to a stop. “what business, you’re probably thinking, right?” he says, and digs in his pocket, fishing out a key and sticks it in what you can assume is a keyhole (not that you could see much). “was it hand-reading, or were you a psychic?” you sarcastically answer him, and he stays silent before answering, “I’m not sure what you meant.” inhaling sharply, you tell him that it was a joke, and you explained that the joke was that he was saying all the things you were thinking aloud like he knew what was going on in your head. now that you had to explain yourself, the joke lost some of its humor which made you furrow your eyebrows. “ah, I understand now. please know that I don’t really get sarcasm, so if you use it with me, I’ll probably have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m very straightforward.” wow, this is the guy you were stuck with? a breathing machine? your luck is fantastic. “I should be a bit clear about what I do,” he started and opened a door, before getting to the side. “after you.” you step into the dark room before a light flicks on. this reveals a myriad of different weapons along a huge wall, and in front of it is a table that holds multiple weapons as well. “holy shit. what- what is all this?” you breathe out, your eyes wide with surprise. “this is the business.”

you turn back around, and leaning against the doorframe is junho, with a revolver spinning on his finger. once he notices your gaze, it comes to a halt perfectly, and he lifts the gun in front of his face, before finally flitting his gaze over to you. “I chose the poker chip because like the card game poker if you bluff enough, you can win. in other words, if you keep your face blank enough, you can win.” you carefully lean against the table, making sure none of the numbers of blades are near you before you shift your focus back on junho. “I don’t understand.” junho puts the revolver back on its place, then he starts, “my job in this team is to kill. I’ve killed many people, and almost every time, I’ve gone unnoticed. I’ll do the job and disappear. that’s how I’ll get away with it and the reason why I get away with it is because I keep a poker face. even if I miss one little thing, I’m off the hook because they say, ‘he doesn’t look like he did it.’” your gaze freezes in fear because you wouldn’t put two and two together; even if he didn’t tell you any of this, you would have never guessed he was a killer. “do you remember the death of that one big business guy a few months back? the one who owned that building in the city? well, he asked us to borrow some of our weapons, and he ended up trying to sell them to a third party who just so happened to contact us.” junho starts, and the image is blurry in your head but you remember it. it was huge and all over the news that they never found the killer, and then your eyebrows rise in realization. “was that you?” and he nods. you let out a noise of astonishment. that just means one thing: he is great at his job. so you tell him that. “wow, you’re really good at it, then. I wouldn’t have even dreamed that you, uh... do what you do, let alone being the face of the nation’s most memorable assassinations.” and you see the first instant of emotion on junho’s face when he gives you a weak smile at that. “thank you for the compliment. it seems very bad, but I promise, I only kill the bad guys. and that too, after I get the background check and face details from dongpyo and wooseok.” your attention goes to the weapons neatly lined up on the wall, and you’ve watched movies and tv, but you’ve never seen weapons like these before. retractable blades and god knows what, your eyes wandered in wonder and you breathed out, “wow, how do you get access to these weapons?” junho shrugged, moving to stand next to you and mumbles, “well, we have our...source, who’s in charge of making the weapons for us, and by ‘us’, I mean eunsang and me, since we deal more with the violent stuff. of course, you could easily read emotions across his face, which is why seungwoo hyung assigned this position to me.” and as your eyes scan the intricate details on said weapons, and the small x1 emblem twinkles under the lights on the ceiling.

“y/n, I have an important question for you,” and you turn towards junho and urge him to continue. “well, you’ve chosen me to work with. and now you’re also aware of what I do. what do you think you’ll be able to assist me with?” you completely forgot about it for a minute. you couldn’t possibly come up with what exactly you’d do if you worked for junho, besides... helping him with the killings. “I’m not entirely sure what there is for me to do, besides, uh, killing. but I don’t think I’m comfortable with that yet.” junho sighed understandingly, then started, “I won’t do that to you yet. hmm, let me think.” just then, junho received a notification from his phone, diverting his attention from you momentarily. “it’s from seungwoo hyung, he’s calling me to his office. you stay here, it shouldn’t take longer than ten minutes. feel free to look around, just don’t touch anything, as you may injure yourself. I will leave you to it, then.” and he stepped out, leaving you in this...chamber of weapons. what would you do, exactly? you’re sure there is more to this job than killing. the research, the disguise, but that stuff’s taken care of by wooseok and dongpyo, but maybe you could help them with that. or maybe you could be like a... secretary. no, that doesn’t fit with his job. “what the fuck am I gonna do here...” you mumble aloud, and you huff and sit on the ground, which seems to be the only safe space where you could trust yourself to sit. just then, junho opened the door and found you on the floor, your eyes focused on a corner, in thought. then it hits you; who is there to make sure things are going well, and junho goes unnoticed? junho makes sure of it to some extent, you’re sure, but what if you helped him out with that. “junho, I think I have an idea. what if I’m like your guide, or something? like I’ll tell you about your surroundings and I’ll help you run through things smoothly, overall. I don’t trust myself with a weapon yet, as you may have noticed.” and junho stands still, eyes blinking at a constant speed. the air in the room remains quiet and awkward, before he breaths out, “that sounds like a good idea. I guess it makes things a bit easier for me, too. I’ll be able to focus on the job at hand instead of having to worry about what’s going on around me.” you stand up, and your eyebrows go up and junho blinks back at you robotically. “so, does that sound good?” junho nods and says, “we start prepping for our next mission tomorrow, so please be awake by 7 in the morning. I will see you soon, y/n.” and you leave the weapon room and head to yours, excited for what awaits you the next morning.

a/n: ahhhhh there we have it! sorry it took so long, everyone! a LOT has happened over the past few weeks; I was out of town, then x1 disbanded, then I had some personal problems going on and then classes started back up so there was really no way for me to send this out sooner, so thanks for being patient with me! nevertheless, I hope everyone enjoys it, and it’s good to be back on the writing scene!

coterie: the poker chip (2/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

pairing: cha junho and y/n

a/n: mentions of violence, and cursing, so proceed with caution. LONG AF.

the next morning, you found a file that junho must’ve slid underneath your door, which contains all the info for his next kill. you don’t see it until you’re out of bed. once you look through it, you decide to draft some plans, with logistics as to how you think you wanna set it up. at this point, you’ve drafted several ideas when your stomach lets out a groan. finally deciding to give into your bodily needs, you quickly call soonja for a cup of coffee and some food, which comes up within five to ten minutes. you have your breakfast and once you think you’ve narrowed down your list enough, you make your way to junho’s room. rapping on the door, you wait as you decipher some activity from the other side of the door, and then it opens to reveal junho. “good morning, y/n. it’s 7:30, you were supposed to be here half an hour ago?” you squinted at him, “don’t worry, I was up and about by 7, I just didn’t know I had to report to you,” and you explained to him that you were definitely awake and you were working on some ideas early in the morning so that you had something to take to him. “I didn’t wanna be here empty handed, that’s why I took so long to be here.” junho nods his head understandingly, and says, “no problem, just let me know beforehand so I can take care of other things. for now, come sit, and show me what you have so far.” and so you do. one hour goes by, and you’re giving him details to one of the many ideas you jotted down, and junho’s attention starts to waver; so he fixes his gaze on you. you’re looking down at a notebook, but that doesn’t change the way you animatedly move your hands around, or you don’t notice the smidge of pen you managed to get on the side of your nose, or how there are strands of hair falling at just the angle to frame your face. his gaze carries a fascination and there’s something there that he hasn’t felt before, but is quickly whisked away from these thoughts as he now sees you calling his name a few times. “hmm? I apologize, I zoned out.” he tells you, a strange heat starting to settle on the back of his neck. “you don’t have to be so formal with me, you know? if we’re gonna work together, you should relax a bit.” you sigh out, before going over the gist of the plan again. this time, junho pays attention, but he’s feeling as embarrassed as ever.

you settled on a plan, and went over it a few times to make it as flawless as you possibly could. one thing leads to another, and the next thing you know, here comes the day to execute the plan. junho needed to target a man who had been buying drugs from x1, but had been paying them with counterfeit money. x1 suffered some losses before they learned it was fake money so they waited for the perfect time to pay back the man. this man worked at a small kiosk, just inside the mall. this was a perfect place for junho to commence the plan, so you two decided to go at a time where the mall would be fairly busy. it had worked in your favor since the season was changing which meant that the mall would have dozens of people buying clothes that were now off-season. dongpyo helped you disguise yourself, with a small hearing device and mic in your ear, and junho (although he doesn’t need much, dongpyo insists that junho should put on a wig or glasses or something, so he goes for the glasses.) your job was to somehow bring the spotlight on you, and make it easier for junho to go in for the kill. you two hurriedly leave for the mall and junho finds a place for you to be, which isn’t far from where he needs to go. the mall is crowded as fuck, and you quickly remembered why you don’t do in-person shopping anymore. then you see junho. he’s set you up to sit in a place where you would be able to keep an eye on things going on around him. his gloved hand is in his pocket concealing his pocket blade, and the crowd is really helping him blend in. this is where you create a scene, and so you breathe in, before pushing yourself off of the stairs, falling down and letting out cries. people gasp and rush towards you, making sure you’re okay. you feel some aches and pains that will eventually go away, so you reassure them and they help you sit up, but once you see junho get close enough, you quickly look around him, making sure everyone else is distracted with other things, and the moment he hears your light “go”, he goes in for it. the man gasps and junho leaves the blade, quickly leaving the scene. once the man falls to the floor, and the pool of blood seems to grow, only then do people start causing a commotion. the crowd of people that helped you now rush over to the fallen man, and you see junho approach you, discarding his glove in a trash can before coming up to you. he reaches out a hand, and you take it, but you feel a sharp pain in your foot. you let out a strained gasp, and your eyes shut closed. junho’s eyebrows furrow at this and he bends down, asking, “are you okay? where does it hurt?” tears have formed in the corners of your eye and you can barely make out his features. you point to your leg and junho notices that your ankle is swollen. you must’ve broken it, as a result of your fall. you try to hold in any sounds, biting down on your lip so hard it may start bleeding. junho maneuvers you so that he is now carrying you, and he takes you back to the house. after some time, you’re in your bed, with a cast around your foot. you did break your ankle, and because of that, you can’t help junho, at least not for a few weeks. you have pain medicine and are told to stay in bed. that night you feel worthless, like you’re no good here, you screwed up on the first day.

junho leaves your room later that night, being by your side and getting you anything you needed, and he waited until you fell asleep before he got up and went to his own room. when he reached his room, he saw yohan waiting outside, arms crossed and an eyebrow raised as he set his gaze on junho. “well? care to explain why you waited in that girl’s room for hours? as far as I know whenever one of us has injured themselves, you’ve never stayed to help us out.” junho clears his throat before responding, “I don’t know what you’re insinuating, but the reason I waited in y/n’s room for so long was because I feel bad for her. I was the one who got her into all this and the fact that it hasn’t even been a few days ever since she started working with me just makes me feel worse.” junho invites the older boy into his room and they talk for a bit, until yohan gets a phone call. he steps out to take it, and when he gets back, he tells junho, “anyways, I came here to tell you that we went to the police to get the guy and he’s dead, for sure. there was too much blood loss by the time they got to the scene, and so they pronounced him dead. seungwoo says that you can lay low for a bit, because it doesn’t seem like you’ve got any new assignments coming in for a while. I’ve gotta go, but I’ll see you soon,” and yohan departs, leaving junho to the silence of his room. as yohan heads out, he can’t help but feel like something is different. he doesn’t know what it is, but there’s something... not junho. he shakes off the feeling and then sighs, continuing to make his way to seungwoo. for the next few days, you experience the same cycle: you wake up, and you call soonja up to help you freshen up, and she brings you breakfast. you catch up on some reading, you watch your drama, you overall are doing whatever else there is to do besides being mobile. then junho comes in your room, and helps you out with stuff, whether it be cleaning, or getting you food, or bringing you books from the library, you name it. during this time is when you also learn a little more about junho. the robotic image you initially painted him in fades to this smart, unknowingly sarcastic young man, who’s been nothing but a big help towards you. still, you can’t help but feel like you’re the reason things are where they are. when you ask him about his assignments, he brushes it off by telling you he has none. but you refuse to believe it, because with a gang this big, they have to always be busy. he insists that seungwoo told him that he didn’t have to worry about anything at the moment, and you hesitantly give in. then he’ll have dinner with you and wait until you’re asleep before he leaves. and yohan’s been watching the whole thing go down over the course of the last few days, keeping an especially close eye on junho. he’s been acting differently and is talking much more and wow, is junho fucking smiling? out of nowhere, too? yohan decided that enough is enough and he goes to look for you.

you hear a knock on your door, and when you ask for them to come in, you are shocked to see yohan standing there, nervously playing with his hands. “can I talk to you?” you are taken aback; the boys have been friendly, including yohan but you haven’t had a proper conversation with any one of them. “sure,” you reply, curious for what’s about to happen. he approaches closer to you, and sits at the edge of your bed. the gears seem to be shifting in his head, and when he looks like he’s gathered all his thoughts. he asks you, “what magic have you done?” you don’t quite know what he’s talking about and he is hesitant, but breathes out, “it’s just so shocking to me to see what you have done in a few days that we’ve been trying to get junho to do over the last couple of years.” “I still don’t really get where this is going,” you tell him, and yohan nods, before starting, “ junho was raised in an orphanage. he saw how people came, with hope in their eyes, ready to take someone home with them and more than once, he thought he would be the lucky one to leave. ever since he fathomed the idea, it seemed, it always ended the same way; someone else was being adopted, and he was left there. it wasn’t until he was eighteen when he left. this life and society had thrown many curve balls his way, and it was early that he decided he wasn’t going to conform. he started to break the rules: he stole, he created havoc,” yohan paused, sighed out and then continued, “ one day, junho had noticed that there was someone following him for the past few days and unbeknownst to him, was also watching him commit whatever crimes he did from afar. that someone was seungwoo. he told me that he went up to junho and asked him,“why are you behaving this way?” and junho shrugged, emotionless. he was used to being at the sideline, and not having to answer properly wasn’t new. seungwoo sighed and dropped his head, almost in thought, before he looked up at junho again. “come with me. you seem like you could use a job. and a home.” that was how junho met seungwoo. and since then junho’s been an integral member of the gang. I had very quickly become his best friend on the team, and we still are. yet, if there was one thing about him that hadn’t changed, it was that he never shared his feelings about anything with anyone. he always bottled everything up; no one knew how he released it. sure, he eventually started to break out of his shell when he was with me and the rest of the boys, but it wasn’t ever consistent. but you,” he looks up at you, “you haven’t even been here a week, and he’s warming up to you. and don’t get me wrong, I’m not upset at all. in fact, I want to thank you. thank you for being so kind to him and being a person that he feels that he can trust.” you can’t help but feel your eyes water a bit, so you quickly blink your tears away and smile at him. “thank you for trusting me with this information. things have started to add up now, I understand so much more about why he is the way he is.” yohan gives you a small smile, and before he can say anything else, you hear a knock on your door. “come in,” you call out and it’s junho. he’s surprised to see yohan sitting there with you, and asks, “what are you doing here?” yohan stands up and wipes his hands on his pants. “I just came to tell y/n that I hope she feels better soon. I should be heading out now.” and he nods at you and junho, before leaving your room. “that’s strange,” junho mumbles, but quickly shakes it off and asks you if you need anything. “if you don’t mind, can you grab some water for me, please?” junho nods affirmatively and leaves your room. the things that yohan has resonated with your perspective of junho’s personality, and you can’t help but start feeling something towards him... you just can’t put a finger on it quite yet.

a few weeks later, you begin to heal. you can move your foot and although it’s not ideal, it gets the job done for now. you are still restricted to movements, but you have the freedom to walk around the house and when you do, you make your way to junho’s room and ask him what it is that he wants you to do next. “I can still do stuff around the house, I just can’t physically go somewhere with you yet.” but he refuses to give you stuff. “ I don’t want you getting hurt again. until you’re absolutely better, you will not be given anything by me.” “but why not? I’m fine, I promise!” you insist that you can do it, but he refuses again. you feel defeated, and maybe it’s just you but your heart feels like there’s a rock on it, and you don’t know what gets into you, because the next thing you know, you storm out of the room, and slam his door shut. you try to make it to your room as fast as you physically can, you make it to your bed and immediately you break down in tears. you’ve never felt so useless. soon, you hear a knock on your door, but you don’t need to see who it is. you hear footsteps and soon the bed dips next to you. the hands that were covering your tear-stained face are moved by a gentler pair of hands, and with blurry vision, you see junho looking at you, sadness in his eyes. “I feel useless. this is all my fault, if it wasn’t for me and my stupid ideas, maybe we could’ve done something different. but please, give me one more chance, I need to get out. please, this time I won’t mess up.” there’s red on the edges of junho’s mocha eyes and you know he has something to say, so you urge him, “there’s something you’re thinking. say it.”

and just like that, he breaks. “the moment I saw you on the mall floor, clutching your leg in pain, I felt like it all could’ve been avoided if I had chosen something else. this was all my fault. the nights you fell asleep here, I’d walk back to my room, and beat myself up because it was my fault you were in pain and believe me, it was definitely not your fault. you’re a smart person, y/n. you’ve come up with ideas that neither me or the boys could’ve come up with. I’m sorry for putting you in that position in thinking that it was your fault. throughout these past few weeks, you’ve taught me a lot: how to joke sarcastically, how to get annoyed (you interrupt him with a ‘hey!’), how to take risks but most of all, how to take care of someone. and when you mentioned doing stuff again, I just.. didn’t want to think about putting you in danger again. so I was selfish, and don’t want to expose you to any more danger. you mean something to me, y/n, and it’s the scariest fucking feeling in the world to think you’ll be in danger again. and I don’t know the logistics or anything, but all I know is that I want to keep you safe.” he finished with tears on his face. at that moment, you could only think of doing one thing, and so you did. you grabbed his face between your hands and you kissed him. at first, he didn’t move, but as your lips moved, his did too, and soon, he held your waist carefully. after some time, you pull away and junho moves a strand of hair away from your face. “I want you to trust me, junho. let me work with you again. I promise I’ll stay out of danger. for you. for us.” and with that you wrapped your arms around his shoulders, finding solace in his body heat. truly there are so many things you’ve taught junho. you’ve done the impossible: breaking the once reserved boy out of his shell, and you taught him how to love life, no matter what. because when it comes to moments like these, it’s always going to be worth it.

a/n: aaand that’s a wrap on junho! did you expect him to be the poker chip? if not, who’d you think it was? lmk in the comments and as always, thanks for being patient!! also,,, might be working on some new series shhhhhhh xoxo sweetdejun <3

coterie: the pen (1/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

pairing: cho seungyoun and y/n

a/n: a hint of cursing, so proceed with caution. i’ve been drafting this for a long time now, and that’s because I really love seungyoun and I was so stoked to write this. also ahhhh this update was quite delayed, but there’s a lot going on right now, as you all are aware of, but hopefully I can find time to update more consistently. stay safe!

there was one familiar object you saw, so you instinctively picked it up. you twirled the blue gel pen between your fingers, scanning the crowd of men to find the one that identified his object. your eyes landed on a pair of prominent, onyx colored eyes. “that’s mine”, the owner of the pen said, who was already boring his gaze into your own. it felt cold, with a sense of judgement lingering in them. it felt like he was trying to analyze what was going on inside your head and you didn’t like it. not one bit. “seungyoun, she’s your responsibility now, everyone else, follow me.” seungwoo says, and motions to the other boys with his hand. seungyoun, who’s standing sorta slouched, his hands shoved into the pockets of his slacks, and the only instances of brightness you see are the yellow and orange painted on the center of his button down and the shimmering reflection of his long earring against the floor of the ground. “alright, well, follow me. could you bring a notepad and pen with you, or, just the notepad since you’ve got the pen in your hand.” he walks briskly across the room, and you have to scan the room, to see if you can find said notepad. luckily, you see one sitting on a table not too far from where you stand, so you quickly snatch it, and scurry behind seungyoun. he starts talking almost immediately after you catch up, as if he was waiting for you before he introduced himself. “I’m seungyoun. I’m the official legal consultant for the gang. anyone who needs to get anything done from us, they come to me to discuss the legal details.” you scoffed as he said that, which caused him to pause. “so does that include the time you guys shoved me into a van and dragged me here? pretty sure that’s not legal.” you roughly retorted, and seungyoun turned around, a small smirk dancing around on his lips. “fair, but let me rephrase, I only deal with people who needs to get anything done from us, not anything we do to other people. and even that just includes the big people, that have some sort of reputation. just so that they can avoid the public eye. I’ll explain it all, just follow me.” and he walks past the hallway that goes to your room, and heads in front of a room that has two doors. “this is where I work. y/n, here’s the library of the house.”

and he opens the door to reveal a personal library like you’ve never seen before. you stood in awe. you felt like a kid in a candy store, and honestly you probably should’ve expected a house this huge to have a library like this. “this is where I spend most of my time. I have a nice little desk area set up near the end of the room, would you like to see it?” he turns to look at you, still trying to grasp the essence of the gorgeous library. “are you kidding? show me every nook and cranny of this place.” and you walk through the large spaces between the towers of bookcases, and seungyoun casually points out, “you seem to be quite interested in all this. I take that you’re an avid reader?” without hesitation, you answer back, “oh, yes, I love to read. it’s one of the reasons I chose my major in college. political science.” seungyoun nods his head, seeming interested in your conversation. “I was a literature major in college, then I went to law school. after I graduated, I realized it wasn’t easy finding a job, until seungwoo told me he wanted someone who knew the law like the back of their hand. so I took it.” at the end of his sentence, seungyoun came to a stop, and you almost bumped into him, had you not shifted your gaze towards the back of his head for a split second. he moved to the side, showing you his work area. a dark, wood desk sits, with an antique lamp resting on a corner of it, and loads of paperwork, all stacked neatly on top of each other is in the other corner of the desk. he has a file cabinet behind him and a pair of glasses are resting on top of a notebook, closed and sitting just in front of his black swivel chair. “you picked me, and well, I’m glad you’ve got a background in political science. you’re going to be my personal assistant. because we will be doing a lot of case studying, i’m gonna need you to have the essentials, like a laptop and some paper and pens and shit. you can let me know what you need and i’ll send someone right away.” you had your laptop, but all your supplies were still at your dorm. you suppose jinhyuk didn’t think you’d need them, but then again, you didn’t either until a few moments ago. “I’ve got a laptop, I will need some stationary and perhaps a place to sit.” seungyoun nods and goes around to sit on his desk. “I’ll work on getting that stuff in right away. until then, you are free to go.”

and with that, you move from in front of his desk and wander about the library. you look for books that interest you, books that you’ve been dying to read and are filled with joy when you also discover some gems that you had no idea existed. somehow, you also lost track of time because soon, seungyoun is heading back towards the door and almost has a heart attack when he sees you round the corner, with a stack of books in your hands. “y/n, I thought you were gone already. I’m calling it a night. how long have you been here for?” you furrow your eyebrows, unsure of how to answer the question. “uh, I guess ever since you said I was free to go.” seungyoun, in turn, raises his eyebrows, checking his watch. “so, for four hours? it’s almost 11:00.” it didn’t feel like it, you thought, but when you double checked on your phone, he stood correct. you bashfully moved your gaze away from seungyoun’s, saying, “I guess I lost track of time. sorry about that.” seungyoun shook his head, “don’t apologize. you find anything interesting?” he motioned towards the tower of books you carried. “hm, I found some stuff, but I’m not really sure. I would have to read up for me to give you my opinion.” seungyoun smiled, and nodded, opening the door for you to exit the library. “well, do let me know. seungwoo said that he’ll have your desk and everything ready by tomorrow morning, so rest up, and I will see you then.” you blink back, and you tell him you’ll see him later, and you scurry off to your room, excited to start reading and you left behind an amused seungyoun, a small smile growing on his face as he watches your silhouette become smaller, and smaller.

a/n: did you expect the pen to be associated with seungyoun? if not, who’d you think it was? let me know in the comments and as always, thank you guys for supporting the series! love you guys loads!!

coterie: the pen (2/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

pairing: cho seungyoun and y/n

a/n: mild cursing, so proceed with caution. stay safe and healthy, everyone~

the next morning comes bright and early, and you must admit, you had trouble waking up due to the fact that you almost finished one of the books you picked up the day before. you started reading it and somehow it was 3 in the morning, and you had to force yourself to close the book. miraculously you managed to make it out of bed on time, and you sauntered over to the library, your laptop tucked safely into one arm as you swung open the door. you made your way to your desk, and set down your things. I could go for some coffee right about now, you thought and rang soonja for your coffee. “mr. cho asked for your coffee a few minutes ago, he wanted both to be dropped off at the library. would you still like for me to send one in for you?” you raised your eyebrows and truth be told, felt your heart beat a little faster. “oh? then in that case, please just bring both of them up, don’t worry about the second one. thank you.” it seemed minutes later, seungyoun walked in, followed by soonja with your coffees, the smell now permeating throughout the room. “good morning, y/n! I hope you don’t mind, but I asked soonja to bring in both of our coffees together,” seungyoun sheepishly grinned, to which you shook your head, smiling. “it’s no big deal, sir. thank you, soonja, for the coffee!” she set down the respective beverages before giving you a small bow and retreating from the library. “you don’t have to be so formal with me, y/n. you can call me seungyoun,” he said, before taking a swig from his mug. “okay, si-seungyoun. thank you for the coffee, I really needed it.” and he chuckled a little as you proceeded to start your work-filled day with a cup of coffee, face turning a light shade of pink.

generally, your day-to-day routine remained the same. you would go to work, where seungyoun had your and his coffee, and you would begin looking through cases and making case briefs which you would later file so that they’d be easy for him to find, in case he needed to reference them. sometimes, seungyoun would have you stop what you’re doing and review something for him while he’d step out momentarily. you’d work through the day, then get back to your room in the evening, before repeating the cycle the next day. every once in a while as the both of you work away, seungyoun will start conversation, and it’s just about random topics. one minute, you guys will talk about what flavors of ice cream are superior, to why you think you’re a slytherin and he’s a ravenclaw. one day while you were having one of said conversations, and the topic of music comes up. “I listen to a range of music,” you tell him as you staple papers. “I guess it really just depends on my mood... I could be listening to classical music one minute, then rock music that goes hard the next, so it’s unconventional, but I enjoy it.” seungyoun nods, and proceeds to ask you who your favorite artist is. “actually, this one guy appeared on my grid a few weeks ago, and I’ve started to listen to his music a little more. his name is woodz, and wow, I’ve never heard a voice like his before in my entire life. and his lyrics are so heartfelt, you can tell he’s genuinely modeled his lyrics from his own experiences and stories. strange thing is now one has ever seen him or anything like that, and as far as I know people are dying to get a glimpse of him .” you look up from your busy hands, to find seungyoun studying the open air, eyes narrowed in focus. as you fell quiet, seungyoun was snapped out of his trance, blinking rapidly, before turning towards you. “I’m sorry, I zoned out there for a second.” and part of you wanted to ignore it, but your curiosity got the best of you. “is something the matter, seungyoun?” you noticed the hesitation looming in his eyes, as if he was contemplating something and finally, with a sigh he looked towards you, “actually, there’s something I wanna show you.” he stood up from his seat, and motioned for you to follow him. he leads you out of the library, and you follow him, going down a set of stairs, before eventually making your way to an eerily dark corner of the mansion. he reaches a room, placing his hand on the doorknob, and turns to look at you, who still has no clue about what’s going on. “what I am about to show you is private, and only the other members of the gang know about this.” you nod, his serious gaze making shivers run down your spine. he opens the door.

inside the room looks like a recording studio. and you’ve only ever seen them in movies and tv shows, never in real life, but it’s how you would think it looks. a dim room separated by a door and a glass window, displaying a stool and a microphone, lit only by the singular bulb sitting right above the apparatus. on your side is the computer, keyboard and a bunch of other sound machines more recognizable to anyone more familiar with these instruments than you. “it’s a recording studio,” seungyoun tells you. “whenever I have time, or when I’m feeling inspired is when I come down here. I write lyrics, or I make a beat. sometimes, I’ll even get to record it.” he looks over to you, who is still admiring the room, taking in all the details, your mouth slightly ajar. he chuckles softly, which catches your attention. your eyes move to his smiling figure and you feel embarrassed. “I’m sorry, I’m just a little taken aback. It’s my first time seeing anything like this in person.” seungyoun’s got a look in his eye you can’t quite understand, but that thought fades away fast, as he moves forward to sit on the chair, pulling you along with him. seungyoun’s hand is slightly calloused, albeit warm and his hold feels secure. that notion leaves you as quick as it came, leaving the back of your neck feeling warm. he sits, before pulling a stool over, for you. “of course, the others know about the studio, but I’ve never let any of them listen to anything before,” he tells you. “why not?” you ask and his gaze suddenly falls to the floor in utter bashfulness. “well, I have uploaded a lot of my music, and it has gotten attention, but I don’t know, I guess I’m just shy...” he lets out a small sigh and smiles at you, sadness looming in his grin. your heart ached at his immediate change in demeanor. “sorry, I didn’t mean to throw that weight onto you,” but you interrupt, shaking your head. “don’t be. sometimes you need to let things out, so don’t apologize. and I appreciate that you want to share your music with me, but if you still feel uncomfortable, you don’t have to-” and he cut you off, “but I want to. I don’t know why, y/n, but I feel like I can trust you with this. I’m not doing this out of obligation, I genuinely want your opinions.” and with that he exhaled and muttered, “here it goes.”

within the first millisecond of the song, a pang of familiarity hit you. one second, two seconds, three. you’re amazed because you’ve heard this song before. realization dawns over you, and you turn to look at seungyoun, who’s got a small smile on his face. “you.. you’re... woodz?” there was definitely a lot going through your head, but the first thing that managed to escape your mouth as he slowly nodded was, “holy shit, you rock, dude.” seungyoun, shocked by your reaction, laughed loudly, covering his mouth as the corners of his eyes crinkled up, shaping them into crescents. you, who were still starstruck, leaned back, your hands in your hair, until you forgot that you were sitting on a stool, which didn’t have anything to support you. “whoa,” slipped from your mouth, and before you hit the ground, that same warm hand protected you from the hit, strongly gripping your waist, before gracefully seating you back up. “you okay?” seungyoun’s voice rang, but all you could hear was how loud your heart was beating. “you have caused quite the commotion in the music industry, and I’ve read the comments everywhere. they all love your music, and you’ve got tons of supporters, including me. I instantly felt like I could relate to your lyrics, and you’ve made some sick beats, and just everything, wow.” you started to ramble, and seungyoun felt embarrassed but strangely, hearing your feedback was all that mattered in that moment. and you guys sat in there for god knows how long, just talking about his music, to his musical journey. you learned that since college, seungyoun’s had a knack for mixing tracks and creating music, to the point where professionals had reached out to him, to ask if he wanted to make a career out of it. but, he ended up choosing law over music which is a decision he’s glad he made, but sometimes, when a piece of him regrets turning down those offers, he comes down here, and creates masterpieces (which is what you would call them) instead. from that day forward, the friendship between the both of you grew a lot stronger. you and seungyoun were almost constantly hanging out, even out of the library. you guys ate together, worked together, and he’d often take you to the recording room, where he’d have you listen to demos and ask for your advice about what needed some tweaking and what you liked. slowly, you started breaking out of your shell more with him, and although he wasn’t aware of it, seungyoun was too and he was glad to have you in his life.

you continued to your daily routine, as always, and one day, you walked into the library and were surprised to see seungyoun sitting at his desk with someone sitting across from him; an older man, with a head of gray and blonde hair, and they were speaking in a language you couldn’t quite understand. you greeted the two men and as soon as he noticed you, a grin formed on his face, contorting in a way that made you tense up. you turned around to sit on your desk, not failing to notice the gaze of the man, which seemed to ravish at the sight of you. you felt extremely uncomfortable, tucking your legs under your desk; you thought you dressed appropriately for this job, nothing too short or too tight, but the way the man’s eyes traced down your body and the way his tongue poked out to wet his bottom lip caused you to nearly fall grabbing a nearby sweater to wrap around you. seungyoun noticed your actions almost immediately. why were you wearing a sweater in the middle of summer? he followed your fearful eyes to the man in front of him and his jaw clenched at the sight. he cleared his throat, which caught both yours and the man’s attention. “I’ll have you know, mr. santos, that if you are here to work with me, then you will keep your fucking perverted gaze off of my assistant. she should feel safe in her workplace and if you can’t let that happen, then I’m not afraid to take the matter into my own hands. got it?” seungyoun’s voice dropped a few octaves as he spoke, the man grunting and muttering under his breath. seungyoun looked at you, and said, “sorry for not telling you about this, y/n, he was supposed to come in next week. you can leave if you’re not feeling comfortable, and I’ll call you back once he’s gone.” your shaky gaze went to seungyoun and you nodded, letting a breathy, “thank you” escape your mouth before you briskly exited the room, and headed back. your heart was thumping, and the image of seungyoun speaking to the man in such a harsh manner wasn’t leaving your head. the scene was replaying over and over and before you knew it, you were startled as your phone rang. “the guy left, I made sure of it. you can come back now, if you’d like.” and so you did. the atmosphere in the library was an odd one; you and seungyoun both typed away, tension heavy in the air. “sorry about that,” seungyoun broke the silence. “mr. santos wanted us to hold some money for him here, and I wanted to deal with any legal matters, should he rat us out. he said he was coming in next week, but he happened to be in the city yesterday, and decided to extend his visit. he’s a jackass on his own, but he shouldn’t have made you feel that way. I’m sorry again.” you bit your lip, exhaling before turning to look at seungyoun, and you said, “thank you. I don’t know what you told him, but I had a feeling it was reprimanding him for how he made me feel, so I just wanna thank you for that.” seungyoun looked up at you, and studied your features for what felt like an eternity. finally, as if he came to some conclusion, before getting up from his desk. he approached you and offered you a hand, which you timidly took. he gently pulled you out of your seat and held a strong grip on your hand, leading the way. “where are we going?” you passed your room, and his, and were far from the recording studio. seungyoun reached a door, and when he went past it and turned the lights on, you realized you were in a garage. cars were lined up neatly in two uniform lines. keys hang on a holder by the door, and seungyoun picks one and unlocks a car: it’s a black Maserati, and turns to you and says, “please get into the car. I’ll explain everything to you.” and so you do. you don’t question it because in the weeks you’ve grown to know seungyoun, you’ve also grown to trust him.

you sit in the passenger seat, watching as seungyoun drives you from the house down a road, for a while. you don’t ask him where you are going, rather you take in the grey, bright sky. “looks like it’s gonna rain,” you hear seungyoun say. you turn to him briefly, your eyes skimming over his features and you reply, “they say that rain is a sign of good luck.” and before he can further the conversation, one drop of water hits the windshield. before another. following another. and then it starts raining, but it’s not the thunderstorm kind of rain, rather it’s the kind that makes you want to turn off the lights, and get into your most comfortable clothes, and take a nap. the urge to fall asleep takes over you faster than you thought, and it seems as though it’s only been a few minutes, but you feel a gentle shake and you hear your name being called. you groggily open your eyes and rub them, adjusting yourself in the seat. “we’re here.” the rain has stopped, although the sky looks about the same as before. you turn your attention to seungyoun, who opens his door. just as your hand reaches out to copy his action, he says, “let me,” then steps out of the car, and walks around to open the door for you. you swing your legs out of the car, and he offers a hand that you take. you walk when seungyoun walks and stop when seungyoun stops. you find that you are standing on a deck, that overlooks a body of water. it’s the kind of deck that the older people will walk on in the early hours of the day, or where grieving people may come, with bags of a couple green bottles. “I come here to clear my head sometimes. I’ve actually been coming here for a few years now; whenever there’s something bothering me, or if there’s any ounce of regret in me, or even just when I need to be alone, I come here,” seungyoun’s voice interrupts your thoughts. he turns just enough to point out the warm grey, wooden bench. “I sit here, and close my eyes, taking it the sounds of the water and feel the breeze against my skin.” and with that, he rotates completely to sit on said bench. he pats a spot next to him for you. you situated yourself next to him, and looked at him, only to find his gaze on you.

“so, what’s on your mind?” you ask, perching your elbow against the bench and leaning your head against your palm. seungyoun hunched his shoulders a little, his head falling in thought before he took a deep breath. “first, promise that you won’t react till the end.” this is the first time you’ve heard seungyoun speak with any nervousness. you nodded, “okay, you’re making me nervous. is everything okay?” a seriousness grows in seungyoun’s gaze, and he breathes out, “I didn’t like the way santos made you feel today. I saw it all. after you left, I taught him a lesson. what I did to him doesn’t matter, but I told him we wouldn’t hold his money and he would need to find someone else. and there’s no way he’ll try to sabotage the gang, because he’s in a very tight place right now. the point is I won’t do business with anyone that I don’t respect, and he lost all my respect the minute he looked at you like a piece of fucking meat.” you tentatively placed your hand on his knee. “I told you earlier, it’s okay,” but seungyoun huffed angrily. “it’s not okay! I would’ve killed him, really. I know you’re strong because you handled the situation well, but me? when it comes to you, y/n, you’re...” and he looked into your eyes, searching for something. “I’m what, seungyoun?” you softly said, moving closer to his face subconsciously. his eyes flickered between holding your gaze and running over your mouth, before he said, “you’re my weakness.” and that’s all it took for him to close the distance between the two of you, pulling you close as he kissed you. you let out a quiet gasp, before your hands went to cup his face. seungyoun pulled you closer by the waist, the bench only making the both of you contort in a weird way, and yeah it was uncomfortable but you both wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else. when the burn started to grow in your lungs, only then did you pull away, breathing hard. your eyes found seungyoun’s and you wrapped your arms around him, pulling him in for a hug, which he gladly reciprocated. “I like you, y/n,” he says into your hair. “you are one of the few people I can truly be myself around, and we had this connection, you know? I know you felt it too, and I have been proven right,” he chuckled as you nudged his hip. “what I’m trying to say is along the line, you’ve made me a happier person, and all I know is that I want you to be around for a long time.” you pulled back to peck his cheek, “I know, seungyoun, because you’ve made me feel the same way. I found myself slowly being more and more gravitated towards you, and I couldn’t have had it another way.” seungyoun smiled genuinely, and brushed the hair away from your forehead, before smirking, “what do you say I take you out tonight, as an official first date?” you grinned widely, “I’d like that a lot.”

a/n: aaand that’s a wrap on seungyoun’s storyline! I have to say, it took me a while to figure out where to go, so I really hope you all like it! since there are only four more left, I will just go in the order that I had originally. unfortunately, i’ve started losing motivation to continue the series quite rapidly, so I don’t know how often updates will be for coterie. and as always, thank you guys for all the love and support you have given this series, and thanks so much for waiting patiently! stay safe!

coterie: the king card (1/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

pairing: han seungwoo and y/n

a/n: a touch of violent behavior and cursing, so proceed with caution.

the king card seemed like the most obvious choice to you, because you knew who you were choosing. as you flashed the image of the two red kings to the crowd of men across you, your eyes only landed on the leader. seungwoo’s gaze meets your own through his navy blue locks. with a small nod, he instructs the rest of the boys, “you all may carry on with your assignments. y/n, follow me.” everyone scattered in different directions, but as you walked through the crowd, you heard two of them whisper, “wow, she’s got guts to pick seungwoo. unless she didn’t know it was him.” “of course she knew, didn’t you see the way she looked directly at him? i just hope he doesn’t make her do something crazy.” you shuddered at the last few words you heard. what did they mean by crazy? you know you’re not going to die or anything, but after hearing that, a small part of you believes you’re wrong. seungwoo’s long strides make it hard for you to keep up, the velocity of your steps beginning to increase. finally, it seems you’re almost at your stop, because seungwoo stops, and in front of him are two grand doors, white and gold decorations littering the front of them, much like the rest of this house. he opens one, and scoots to the side, “come on in,” and is that a smile on his face? from the minute you’ve arrived, you haven’t seen the man show you a single expression, so to see him grinning takes you aback. still, out of sheer courtesy, you give him a curt smile back and enter the room. it’s huge and looks more like a grandiose lounge than an office, but the way weapons are scattered around the room tells you to remember the reality of your situation: you’ve knowingly decided to work with the boss of one of korea’s most notorious gangs. to put it in simple terms, you fucked yourself over.

the door shuts, and you keep your eyes glued to your feet, the red carpet under them spanning the perimeter of the room. yet even with the carpeted floor, you can pick up the sound of footsteps approaching you. then two shoe-clad feet stop across your own. you refuse to look up, even when seungwoo calls your name once, twice, three times before grabbing your face with his hand, squishing your cheeks between his fingers. you flinched at the action. “when I call your name, you respond. it’s not that hard.” you gulped, eyes widening in horror. he let go of your face, the pressure of his fingers leaving its after-effects in surges of sensations. folding his hands behind his back, he starts, “as I’ve told you already, I won’t kill you unless you follow my orders. I will need you to be my personal assistant, as I’ve got a very important project coming up, and I cannot afford a slip-up. you will assist me in contacting people, you will collect the weekly reports from the others, and you’ll do normal things like getting my coffee, running down to whoever if I need something. got it?” you met his dark, indifferent eyes and nodded somberly. “good. I may end up calling you from wherever I am from time to time but for the most part, you’ll stay in your room or here.” seungwoo turned to his desk, where he picked up a few files, a notebook, and a pen before sauntering back over to you and sliding these objects into your hands. “it would be best if you reviewed these files by tomorrow morning. if you don’t understand something, then ask me tomorrow. don’t wait, because I’ll assume you know what you’re doing, and if you mess something up because you waited to ask me something, things can go wrong. do you understand me?” you nodded quietly, afraid to use your voice. seungwoo nodded, before taking a seat at his desk. “you may leave now.” you walked out of his office, and made your way back to your room, and all you felt was anger. pure, red anger at seungwoo for already treating you like shit and moreover, yourself for not fighting against him. you understood that your life was on the line, but that gives no one the excuse to talk to you that way. you dropped the files onto your bed and shut the door to your room. you breathed in, and slowly breathed out in an attempt to calm yourself. the gears were turning in your head, you had to do something about this. you still had to get this stuff done, but you’re not going to be satisfied if you leave this matter as it is and let it continue on. “if that’s how it’s going to be, then so be it,” you muttered, “you watch what I do with you, han seungwoo. just wait, and fucking watch.”

a/n: WOWWW it’s been a WHILE. I just felt incomplete. I HAD to come back and finish it, I’d spent so long writing the series, so much time went into it, I couldn’t just leave it in the middle. perhaps I just needed a push or something, and luckily it came to me. I really hope you guys enjoy it, and as always, thank you for all the support and love! it truly means so much!!

coterie: the king card (2/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

a/n: cursing and mentions of violence, so proceed with caution. THIS IS A LONG ONE.

you did the work seungwoo asked you to do; he gave you the files to learn, and you learned the shit out of them. when the next day, he asked you about the clients, you spat out information like a robot, leaving him impressed. of course, in the grand scheme of things, seungwoo’s attitude towards you didn’t change much. he hasn’t grabbed you as harshly as he did with your face a few days ago, but he certainly isn’t being any nicer to you. he just orders you around left and right, and you just follow his orders. but there is a difference in the way you are, and seungwoo picks up on it right away. you no longer have any fear in your eyes, you don’t cower at his words, either. rather you look him in the eye and he sees something; determination, maybe, or something along those lines because there’s a fire of sorts burning behind your eyes. you know what it is, you just wanna get back at him for treating you badly; but you’d also decided that you won’t do anything extreme. the last thing you need is for your life to be on the line. you still needed to figure out exactly what it was that you were going to do. and you had trouble figuring it out, until the plan fell into your hands.

seungwoo called you into his office, so you left the comfort of your room and made your way to the grand doors and pushed one open, and you saw seungwoo turn towards you. he’s dressed differently today, over the other times you’ve seen him in his usual all-black suit. he’s wearing a floral, Hawaiian shirt over top a plain white tee, and white shorts and sneakers. if you didn’t know him and his dick personality, you’d say he looked pretty cute. “finally, you’re here. I thought you lost your way,” seungwoo tells you with a glint in his eye, and he’s smirking. is he making fun of you? what a jerk. “I have to go to a meeting with our client. I need you to go down to wooseok’s room for some files, then seungyoun should have a contract ready for you as well. bring both things and leave them here. I suppose afterward, you can do anything, but don’t leave the house. is everything clear?” blinking back at him, you nod, “yeah.” seungwoo nodded, then let you go before he left the house. geez, you really had to get him back.

once seungwoo left, you made your way to wooseok’s room first. knocked twice on the door before hearing a ‘come in’, and upon your entry, wooseok reached for some black files from across his desk, and placed them in your hand. “thank you, would you mind telling me where I would find seungyoun, please?” wooseok adjusted the glasses perched on his nose before pointing out, “you could check the library. his desk is there, so that’s most likely where he is.” nodding, you bid him thanks, and head out of his room, making your way to the library. soon you’ve reached the library, which is the room in the house that never fails to amaze you. it reminds you of the one from beauty and the beast, but you scoff at the thought of seungwoo modeling something based on a children’s film. “looking for me?” you hear a voice from behind you that almost makes you drop the files in your grip. seungyoun stood behind you, with a mug of coffee in his hand, the steam indicating its freshness. “didn’t mean to startle you. seungwoo must’ve sent you for the contract. follow me.” you scoot to the side, and let him pass you so you could follow him. seungyoun may be one of the only other people in this house you’ve grown fully comfortable with, the others being wooseok, dongpyo, and hyungjun. you met seungyoun shortly after you started working with seungwoo, as he often sent you to his room to get something from him and more than once, you’ve learned that while seungyoun’s room is usually the place you need to be, but he was almost always never there, which was why you asked wooseok of his whereabouts. of course, thanks to seungyoun, you managed to learn about all the rooms in this huge mansion-like house. “so, how have things been with seungwoo? he causing you any trouble?” you rolled your eyes at the mention of the man. “he’s still the way he is, an ass. I wonder why you all are friends sometimes, he doesn’t seem like a guy who goes for friends.” seungyoun snickers at your attitude, passing the contract over to you. “just give him some time, y/n. he doesn’t open up easily. considering his job, he’s not someone to trust people so easily.” you sighed and pursed your lips, muttering a ‘thanks for the file’ before you left the room.

part of you wants to peek through these files. why not, right? it’s not like you have anything to lose. so once you reach seungwoo’s office, you set the files down on the table, and reluctantly are about to flip open the cover to the files wooseok gave you, when you hear a voice calling your name. your heart’s about to jump out of your chest, and you gasp sharply. eyes shut, you hear snickers and immediately a scowl’s formed on your face. hyungjun’s standing there, laughing at your frazzled state. “hyungjun, you scared the shit out of me. what is it?” his laughter dies down before asking, “are you busy?” and you tell him you’re not, and push the file to the side, following him out of the room. you two search for something to do, because hyungjun was “bored”. you didn’t really have anything going on either, you did the work seungwoo asked you to do, so you just went along with him. after considering all your ideas of what you called killing time, hyungjun fake-snored, before thinking for a few minutes, before coming to a conclusion. “let’s play beer pong.”

you don’t know how he managed to convince you to play, probably because you were just as vacant as he was, but here the two of you were, two games in, and you were drunk. wavering as you stood to throw the next ball, you halted in your movements as you heard the sound of tires just outside the house. you whined, and threw the ball on the ground, plopping yourself onto the couch just directly behind you. hyungjun snorted at your reaction, “why? is it because seungwoo’s here now?” you nodded dramatically, the alcohol solely responsible for your behavior. your eyes squeezed shut as you started, “I don’t know why he hates me so much, he’s always so mean to meee,” hyungjun chuckled at your state. “stop laughing at me! seungwoo always laughs at me too, he just thinks he does it secretly. I see everything, asshole.” you stopped as you heard the front door open and footsteps. “ooh, sounds like they’re here!” you wobbled over to the living room, a few rooms away from where you were, and you could hear seungwoo’s voice. seungwoo came into your sight and you hiccuped “back so soon?” seungwoo turned at the sound of your voice, and his eyebrows shot up in shock. “did you drink, y/n?” you giggled, and held up your hand, your thumb and index finger coming close together. “a little bit, I got bored and played beer pong with hyungjun. he’s really good,” you moved closer to seungwoo; in fact, you were so close to him, you could smell his cologne and part of you thinks that shit, if you weren’t intoxicated on the alcohol, you would be intoxicated by the smell coming off him. you blinked slowly, and seungwoo huffed, eyes darting to your mouth for a split second before his cold eyes bored into your own. “you reek of beer, step back.” you started walking backwards, and you saw seungwoo’s gaze switch to something behind you, then his expression changed.

before registering anything, you hit a hard surface. it was warm, you felt a heartbeat, and you turned to see what you hit. you didn’t realize you bumped into a guy, but you vaguely noticed his surprised eyes blinking back at you, and you gave him a hazy smile, and you whispered, “what a handsome face,” then you started to see black. once you were knocked out, you fell into said man’s arms, and seungwoo watched the whole thing. the man looked back between your unconscious figure and seungwoo, unsure of what to do next. seungwoo pinches his index finger and thumb on the bridge of his nose, and says, “sorry about this, minsik. she’s usually never like this, I apologize for her behavior. Here, let me take her up to her room.” seungwoo reached out to take you out of minsik’s arms, but the man insisted that he’d take you up. “It’s not a problem, seungwoo. just tell me where I have to put her.” seungwoo felt a twinge in his chest, but chose to ignore it and told soonja to take minsik up to your room. he’s never been this embarrassed in front of a client, let alone someone who’d worked with the gang before. minsik was an ex-gang member, who still worked with them from time to time, but now also had a job in the corporate world; but he was also someone seungwoo knew for a long time. they practically grew up together, and so seungwoo trusts him but still, a part of him felt uncomfortable watching as minsik had picked you up, your head now resting in the crook between the man’s shoulder and his neck. seungwoo didn’t know why he felt this way, he just did.

meanwhile, minsik followed soonja as she lead the way to your room, and he felt you twitch for a second, startling him. soonja opened the door, and stepped to the side to let minsik in. once he placed you on your bed, he gently put a blanket over you, and started to scoot back. then he had an idea. by your bedside, there was a pitcher of water and a glass. he filled the glass with water, and placed a card under it. he left the room, and went back down to seungwoo. “who’s she, seungwoo?” minsik asked his friend, who was sitting on the couch with his legs crossed, scrolling through his phone. seungwoo’s ears perked up at minsik’s voice, and nonchalantly responded, “she’s y/n. she caught some of the boys a few weeks ago beating someone up so instead of finishing her off, I decided to keep her as my personal secretary.” minsik shook his head, and seungwoo continued, “but enough about that. let’s get to business, shall we?” and so seungwoo took minsik to his office and debriefed him on all the files you’d left for him. minsik’s job was to help seungwoo with some plans regarding their opposing gang, and because they were to do something really soon, it was necessary for minsik to continue stopping by in the next couple of weeks. naturally, the next morning when you woke up and found a business card with the name ‘kwon minsik’ on it, you vaguely remembered the guy from last night, who you bumped into. cheeks burning, you mustered up the courage to give him a call. you learned that his name was minsik, and you apologized for the way you acted. you guys started talking more until eventually, minsik texted you one day that he thought you were cute. flustered, you thanked him, and he asked if you were free later that night. and you told him you were because seungwoo was having you take care of some things. minsik proceeded to stop by in the evening with bags filled with takeout. of course, he had taken the liberty of buying food for 13 people, but he had managed to seclude the two of you in a corner, to have dinner together as the other boys seemed to stuff their faces as if they were starved for days on end. however, none of that mattered because you and minsik were in your own little bubble, and you were happy.

while your frequent interactions with minsik were going unnoticed by everyone else, there was one person who had his eye on you the entire time: seungwoo. he’d noticed that you were not as focused as you used to be. when he asked you to do something one time and you were using your phone, and it seemed like you were texting someone, he started to get irritated. but it was irking him even more when he learned that it was minsik you’d been texting. why were you wasting your time texting? didn’t you know how important of an assignment seungwoo was working on? and why was minsik texting you over and over again? what could the two of you possibly be talking about? all these thoughts circled in his head, distracting him from getting his work done. he watched you that night that minsik came over with the food, and how you and minsik managed to escape from sitting with the rest of them, and he saw as you talked with him, a sparkle in your eyes and then, you laughed. seungwoo had never seen you laugh. at least, not when he was around. he looked away as soon as he saw your gaze flicker to the other side of the room, where he stood. seungwoo coughed and picked up his plate. “I’m done for the night, you guys carry on, I have things to take care of.” out of the corner of your eye, you saw seungwoo get up from the table, and leave, but not before he turned to look at you and minsik one last time.

later that night, minsik gave you a kiss on the cheek as he got up to leave, and told you, “tonight was fun. although, I wish we were alone.” you tilted your head to one side, walking him to the door. “next time, minsik.” minsik smiled at you one last time, and waved as he walked out the door. “call me when you’re free, we can do something.” you nodded, waving back at him, his figure fading into the dark. you shut the door and turned, only to be startled by seungwoo. he had crossed his arms, and as always, looked indifferent and irritated as he stood across from you. “hey, is everything okay? you left before everyone,” you asked him, and he scoffed. “don’t worry about me. worry about yourself, and your new ‘boyfriend’,” he said with air quotes. your eyebrows furrowed at this. “what, we’re friends. and even if there’s something else going on between us, it’s none of your business.” this made seungwoo mad, and he got up really close to your face, and gritted his teeth, “it is my business, because if it wasn’t for you throwing yourself on him, we can actually get shit done around here!” hurt flashed in your eyes, followed by a surge of anger. “what the actual fuck is your problem, seungwoo? ever since you’ve kept me here, you’ve treated me like shit! you’re never nice to me, always making fun of me, I was miserable, until I met minsik. he’s been like a ray of sunshine, while you, you’ve just been a dick.” tears welled up in your eyes, and you scoffed, mumbling, “I wanted to get back at you for treating me bad. but I just… didn’t find it in me. I’m not an asshole. I wouldn’t do something petty like that but if it bothers you so much that I like minsik then fine. I’ll continue dating him.” and you moved in really close to seungwoo, his eyes following your every move. you pushed your finger repeatedly into his chest, as you told him, “and you, will not, do anything about it.” you huffed and went to your room, wiping your eyes as you walked away from a silent seungwoo, who followed your movement back to your room.

once you shut the door, you sat back on your bed, and hid your face in your knees. it was so frustrating, and everything kind of boiled over because you let it simmer for so long. you breathed out and got ready to go to bed. the next few days went by painfully slowly; you were not talking to seungwoo, and you didn’t plan on it either. whenever he needed you to do things, you either received the message from other members or soonja would give you files with instructions scribbled down on a notepad. you’d kept talking to minsik, and you told him that you were upset with seungwoo, but you didn’t tell him why. minsik told you seungwoo’s always been sort of rigid, but he insisted it was for good reason. “listen, seungwoo’s not always like this. he’s grown to not trust everyone so easily. I mean, you know what he does, right? he’s literally a mafia boss, that job doesn’t let you trust anyone and everyone. give him some time.” minsik’s voice blared through your speakerphone as you continued to work on some things. you shrugged, and sighed, “whatever.” “anyhow, let’s get your mind off of that. let’s go out, tomorrow night. you need to get your mind off of all this.” you bit your lip, and checked your schedule. as of now, you don’t really have anything important that’ll keep you from going out with minsik. you’re not going to tell seungwoo where you’re going, you’re still mad at him. You tell minsik, “yeah, I’m free. pick me up?”

and when the next day came along, you had just gotten dressed to leave and minsik texted he was outside. you grabbed your purse and headed out the door. on your way out, you bumped into seungwoo. this was the first time you’d seen him in days, and honestly? he looked like absolute shit. there were bags under his eyes, and his cheeks were hollowing in, as if he hadn’t been eating properly. “excuse me,” you told him, and attempted to move past him because you were stubborn, too. you didn’t want him to see the concern in your eyes at his appearance. “where are you going?” seungwoo asked you, and you narrowed your eyes. “out, with minsik.” seungwoo nodded, then turned back. “have fun.” his voice sounded different, too and while you didn’t want to pay too much attention to it, a part of you started to feel bad. maybe you were too harsh on him? no, he was being a dick to you, it’s his fault. you somehow convinced yourself that as you opened the door to leave.

minsik had taken you to his favorite bar. “I come here all the time, they’re basically my friends,” he told you as he led you to the bar stool. “what do you wanna drink?” he asked you and you shouted your order over the loud music. he nodded and stepped away. you waited for him to get back, and an uneasy feeling started to settle in your stomach. the people around you were giving you weird looks and you just didn’t feel comfortable. it was like they all knew who you were. Soon, minsik came back with your drink in one hand and his own in the other. “you don’t look so good. are you okay?” you nodded and asked, “I think I’ll be fine. do you know where the bathroom is?” minsik nodded, his eyebrows knit together, and he pointed to a corner of the room. you thanked him and made your way through the crowds of sweaty people, and managed to make it to the cramped bathroom. You locked the door and paced back and forth. why were you feeling like this? you had to tell someone. You pulled out your phone. The only person you could think of was seungwoo. so you texted him: ‘something’s not right.’ and almost immediately he said ‘what do you mean?? is everything okay??” before you could text him back, you heard a harsh knock on the door. coming to think of it, you stopped hearing the music and chatter as soon as you went to the bathroom. shakily, you reached to open the door and found none other than minsik himself standing there, his hands in his pockets and a wicked smile on his face. “well, well. I have to say, it was very easy to get you alone tonight, but now that you’ve really secluded yourself, this is perfect.” there were two men standing on either side of him, and by the looks of it, you think you’d gotten yourself into a mess. before you could react, the two men reached in and grabbed your arms.

much struggling later, you didn’t manage to escape their hold, and they’d tied you down. much like you were when you’d encountered seungwoo for the first time. “look, minsik, I have no idea what the hell is going on. who are you, really?” minsik, who stood in front of you, started laughing. “it’s still me, baby, I promise. just one thing, I’m not on your side. I left seungwoo’s gang and joined another one, the one that happens to be the one seungwoo is plotting against.” you scoffed, and glared at him. “he trusts you, you told me that yourself. and you’re the one playing with him? how sick.” and he pulled out a pocket knife. your eyes widened as the knife was twirling between his fingers. He brought it so close to your face, you swear you feel the tip gliding across your jaw. “I don’t care about what anyone says. it’s too bad, though,” he started, suddenly moving the knife away from your face and replacing its touch with his fingers. “I would get rid of you, but I wouldn’t wanna ruin this pretty little face of yours.” his hand grabbed your hair harshly and before anything else could happen, you heard gunshots. then the door slammed open, revealing the boys and seungwoo.

dongpyo worked on untying the ropes around you, while hyungjun and eunsang got into fighting the men from earlier. seungwoo ran up to where minsik stood, and punched him across the face. both men were at each other’s throats, and things got messy really quick. dongpyo got the last rope untied, before helping you out and taking you back to their car. seungyoun was in the driver’s seat, and as soon as the two of you sat in the car, he drove off. “don’t worry about the rest of them, y/n, I’ll come back for them. you go home, relax. you’ve had a crazy night.” tears filled your eyes, and you couldn’t even give seungyoun a proper answer, so you nodded, and looked out the window instead. things were overwhelming. you had no idea what was going on; shouldn’t you be happy that you escaped the hands of death yet again? or perhaps, you were scared that something was going to happen to seungwoo. you were finally admitting something to yourself that you had been nervous to admit: you cared for seungwoo. no matter how bad he had treated you in the past, one thing is for sure; the more you got to know him, the more you saw who he really was. a caring leader to his team, a smart mafia boss and most importantly, he was just as human and real as everyone else. you were so lost in your thoughts, you didn’t realize when you’d reached the house. soonja was waiting for you outside, and opened the door, startling you. you managed to make it inside the house, where you showered and changed. pretty soon, you heard the door open and the chatter of the boys. you rushed over to see seungwoo, who’d been beaten up pretty badly, but his eyes were only searching for you. once he met your gaze, you rushed down the stairs. you didn’t care about anything or anyone else at that moment, because as soon as you were face-to-face with seungwoo, you wrapped your arms around him, tight. and he reciprocated, his arms coiling around your waist. that hug enough had been the equivalent of many unsaid things between you two; it was an apology, it was a gesture of gratitude, and most importantly, it was full of love. the others were gone, and you don’t really know how long it had been, because you had just held onto each other. finally, when seungwoo pulled away, you were about to say something, when he put a finger to your lips. “you’ve said enough, now let me speak.

“I’ve never really been the type to express myself, I haven’t felt the need to. but now, I’m going to tell you what’s been going through my mind these past few days. I didn’t understand why it bothered me so much when you spent time with minsik. But when you were leaving today, looking absolutely stunning, then when I got your text, I knew something was wrong. I found your location through your phone because I had to see if you were okay. I’m so sorry for how I treated you in the beginning, but I’ve never really experienced genuine friendships, until I met the boys. as far as minsik’s concerned, well, I wouldn’t have imagined him to act like this, but now, no matter what he does, I’ll never forgive him. he tried to hurt the one thing that matters to me; he tried to hurt you. so what I’m trying to say is-” and you cut him off with a small kiss on his lips. you’d been imagining what his lips would feel like and now that you’re actually kissing him, you can confirm that it’s better than you thought. you cut it short, because when you rested your hand on his face, seungwoo winced. “we’ll continue this later, but just so you know, I like you too. now, let’s get you cleaned up.” and you took his hand in yours, interlocking your fingers, and went up the stairs.

a/n: AAAHH finally! sorry it’s a little late :// I hope you guys like it, it’s a different-ish story line that my usual ones, but ofc I had to throw in my usual cheesy ass endings haha.. let me know if you have any feedback, and as always, thanks so much for the support! next one’s gonna be the x1 necklace!!

coterie: the x1 necklace (1/2)

gang!x1 x fem!reader

synopsis: you’re an ordinary girl, with an ordinary life. but what happens when you catch the gang that is famous for keeping their deeds under the table, in action?

coterie’s masterlist can be found here

a/n: mentions of drugs, so proceed with caution.

it’s weird, but something gravitated you towards the x1 necklace. you couldn’t explain what it was. maybe in the situation, you were in, you know, being kidnapped and all, that was the only thing you could think of. but it was only after your impulsive decision made you pick it up, that you looked up to the necks of the men that stood there. all but one adorned the same necklace that was in your grasp, and when you met the eyes of the owner, your heart dropped. piercing you with his gaze was yohan. “it’s mine,” he said, “follow me.” and before the others could disperse, yohan began to move away from the hall. his hands were shoved in his pockets and he started to briskly walk down a narrow hallway. you hurriedly followed, but you made sure you were two steps behind him. anything could happen, and frankly, you didn’t want to push any buttons. “my role in the group is the harvester.” you raised an eyebrow, “what does that mean?” yohan continued onward, till he reached a door. he opened it and walked in, leaving it wide open for you to follow. upon entering the room, your breath was caught in your throat.

the room is strangely warm and humid, but you understand why once yohan turns the light on. across the perimeter of the room are multiple long, wooden planters, growing marijuana. you scrunch your nose at the lingering scent of skunk in the room, but that doesn’t seem to faze yohan. “I see,” you tell him, shock holding you in place, while yohan slips the necklace back over his head, and sits on the ledge of a window on the other side of the room. he’s looking back at you, but he’s got a dazed look on his face. when you squint, you can see a red tint in the whites of his eyes, and you put two and two together: he’s stoned. “I grow the weed this gang sells, and I control who the weed goes to, and whatever. I also smoke the weed, but you already knew that right?” you gulped, suddenly hyper-aware of the situation. “I-I’ve never met a stoner before.” yohan stands to pull a lighter out of his back pocket, before reaching over on a nearby table to grab a joint. he places it between his teeth and lights the open end, till you see small fumes escaping his nostrils.

he’s approaching you, now, and you subconsciously move back once for every step he takes towards you until you feel the wall behind you. he’s close enough to where you can clearly see the red rim of his eyelids, and the dilation of his pupils. “stoner? I prefer the word... cannabis enthusiast. or I guess, that’s two words. anyhow, you chose to work with me.” he takes another hit on the joint, and offers it to you. you decline, putting your hand up and scrunching your nose in distaste. he shrugs before blowing the smoke out, white fumes moving at their own leisure. “your job is to help me harvest. it’s as simple as that. I deal with other substances besides weed, so I'll take care of that once you get the hang of harvesting these.” you comb a hand through your hair and nod. you chose this fate, and now you must deal with it. “I’ll teach you everything, don’t worry about it. for now, just relax. I’m high as shit right now so I can’t teach you properly. let’s start tomorrow.” he stuck the joint back in the mouth and patted your shoulder, only to walk out of the room. you stood, a shiver made its way down your spine despite the air in the room being thick from the humidity. you clenched your fists and muttered curses, heading out of the room.

I... I think I am the Quantum Leap fan base. Though I've replaced Bellisario s many flaws and problems with my own head canon and alternate timeline... and piled on the gay. So, maybe I'm not?

This guy went back in time, but was stuck in the bodies of random people throughout history, fixing the mistakes.

Why does nobody know about this.

Just,

Most of us had to give up or adjust our passions/dreams in order to earn a living. This is the reverse pathway, often known as the karmic life.

¤

🔆 The soul led life invites us to find our unique soul blueprint and follow our own design - instead of walking in the footsteps of others.

¤

🤗 As we find our purpose - we manifest all the good things in all other areas of our life including money, happiness, community, peace, romance, health and whatever else we need to feel fulfilled.

(There is a difference between having a career vs. one you enjoy + pays well as well as being in any relationship vs. one that truly touches your heart and so on...)

¤

And none of this requires us to abandon, betray or reject any part of us to secure any of our wishes.

Our blessings flow easily + endlessly when we remain true to ourselves and follow our soul's calling.
