There they are! The first apprentices. I've wanted to draw them for a long time.
Firestar and Spottedleaf did not seem like they had that much of a connection??? They only talked on page a few times and he obviously had feelings for her, but she never really seemed that interested in them?
like what is this special connection the books insist on mentioning, especailly now that Firestar and Sandstorm are mates
like, it feels a little more like its just there to add conflict to their relationship?
Nothing really gave me the impression that they had that deep a connection, am I missing something? Literally the only thing is that she appeared in his dreams to help him, but I was assuming honestly that she was the form StarClan messages took because she would be familiar and trustworthy, bc you know, this was the medicine cat he'd known? Idk, it's been bothering me and I cannot tell if I legit missed something or if its just... added??
To be more weird about Warriors (the cats), I don't know if this is a hot take but I did not like Firestar's Quest.
There's gonna be spoilers, so under the cut.
I never got the impression that Spottedleaf was interested in Firestar/Fireheart/Firepaw romantically, and took her appearing in his dreams to warn him as both her realizing she knew what the prophecy she got in book 1 was about, and two, that StarClan and Spottedleaf knew Firestar would listen to her.
The problem for me with the book was the weird fighting between Firestar and Sandstorm. Bickering over a dead cat that Firestar had like... A schoolboy crush on.
Im also sure Spottedleaf was never a problem in their relationship prior to this.
And- again, Spottedleaf, as far as I could tell, NEVER showed a romantic interest in Firestar before. And the fact they added in that "she wishes she knew what could have been" kinda thing towards the end felt like it retconned an entire relationship (if you can call an unrequited childhood crush that) for the sake of drama.
I think it was also unfair to Sandstorm as a character to suddenly make her feel like she was competing with a dead cat for her mate's attention.
I felt like so much of the book was taken up by an extremely contrived lovers' quarrel that wasn't as interesting to read as it was frustrating.
Another Pokémon Fusion for today again!
Dusknoir and Hippowdon really go great together. Ground is one of my favorite types and Sandstorm teams are so much fun to play, so here is this abomination to aid your chunky needs.

Redesign of warrior cat minis
okay so i don't like the warriors minis. I don't really hate them either, but they always felt really messy, cluttered, and inaccurate to me. But i also understand the cats need to be mass producible, since the franchise is so big, so i redesigned them using a base i made.
I might upload a video explaining every change in debth when im done with every set, but for now, the basics:
i traced the mini-maker stencil roughly and changed a few proportions, using the symmetry tool to keep patterns simple, unless the character patterns need to be different (like tawny). There are a few eyes and mouth differences for a variation of expressions, and i switched the second Jayfeather for Brokenstar. I also switched around the pairings for something more, logical.
For now i only have the first two sets done.
SET 1
Pair one: Firestar and Tigerstar.
The two famous leaders changed the clans around them for seasons and seasons to come. Firestar led the clans into a new age of tolerance and acceptance, while Tigerstar's rein still leaves scars in the clan's memory.
Pair two: Tawnypelt and Graystripe.
These two cats both struggled to find where their loyalties lie, leaving their original clan in search for a better life. While Tawnypelt found her home among the shadows, Graystripe decided he couldnt turn against his former friends.
Pair three: Jayfeather and Leafstar
These two cats may seem radically different on first glance, but they both share a calling for a greater destiny. When Leaf, a former rouge, was called apon to lead a brand new clan, she didnt let her anxiety come between her and her destiny! Jayfeather, simularly, set his sights on a warrior's glory, before his powers dragged him into a spiritual role he eventually saved the clans with.
SET 2
Pair one: Blackstar and Brokenstar
These two cats set their paws on the path of darkness when the clans still walked the forest. But while Brokenstar tormented the clans until his bitter end, Blackfoot was able to turn away at the last moment, leading shadowclan in peace for moons.
Pair two: Ravenpaw and Sandstorm
These two apprentices trained together in thunderclan, growing to be great hunters and growing close to their clanmates. While Ravenpaw had to leave due to a certain shadowy tormentor, Sandstorm would grow to be invaluable to her clan in leaf-bare, as the best hunter in the clan.
Pair three: Cinderpelt and Brightheart.
These two sisters were injured while serving their clan, and both fought with fears that they wouldnt be able to serve their clan. Despite this, they rose above their clanmates in terms of sheer determination and strength, becoming foundational cats to their clan!
