The Sea Creature of the Day is the Blue Sea Dragon!!! (Glaucus Atlanticus)

i've been thinking a lotttttt about nudibranches for the past couple days so apologies for the 700 more posts im gonna make about them :3 i thought it'd be nice to talk about one of the coolest/ most popular of nudibranches for today though 🥰🥰🥰
honestly these lil guys live the life. floating upside down on the currents, eating horrifying siphonophores and stealing their stinging cells, and also looking so incredibly cute while doing it? mmmmmwah 💜💜💜💜
the only downside is that because of their sting, ill never be able to hold one 😔

I made a fursona (shut up) and she’s a sea slug (SHUT UP) based off my username.

I don’t have any name ideas, so if I ever refer to her, I’ll prolly just call her Slugg :)

Here uhhh... have a little.. a little guy, that I drew a while back, sorry that I haven't posted some images in a bit.

I also forgot to introduce you to Willani! this vessel is based on a cool sea slug I found on google! the blue things are not their arms btw, it's just a part of the cloak.

Sea slug opossum fella I modeled for a class!
Costasiella kuroshimae
Is also known as “leaf sheep” is a kind of sea slug who feeds on algae.

What makes it so interesting is that it is the only organism in the entire world that is not a plant yet is able to photosynthesize.
Costasiella Kuroshimae are shell-less and range in size from 5mm to 1cm (1/4 to 3/8 inch) in length.

They were first discovered in 1993 off the coast of the Japanese island Kuroshima.
The interesting fact about these slugs is that they are capable of a physiological process called kleptoplasty, in which they retain the chloroplasts from the algae they feed on.

If you think that’s interesting follow for more
Clione limacina
Sea Angel
Did you know that 2 Pokémon’s were based on the clione? (Manaphy and Phione)

They’re found from the surface to greater than 500m (1.600 feet) depth.
It was first described by Friderich Martens in 1676. It was the first gymnosomatous (without a shell) to be described.
They feed on the sea butterflies of the genus Limacina. They live around 2 or more years.
They breed during spring and summer and the eggs are about 0.12mm (4.7 thou)

Clione are usually found in the Arctic Ocean or cold regions of the North Atlantic Ocean.
Cyerce elegans
Mostly lives in with Halimeda kanaloana and Halimeda idea algae covered habitats
She is found in depths of 10-18 meters

GIRLY JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT CYERCE ELEGANS

If Cyerce nigricans is a butterfly, then this is a fairy... Cyerce nigricans for comparison:

Naked Sea Angels (Clione limacina) are small, free swimming snails. The shell has been lost and the foot has been modified into wing-like paddles for swimming.

Loch’s chromodoris (Chromodoris lochi) is a commonly known nudibranch. Its gills are retractable, useful for keeping them safe from predators. It lives in the balmy waters of the Indo-Pacific, and grows to be 4cm.

The Nembrotha aurea is a wonderfully pigmented dorid nudibranch that lives in the western Indo-Pacific ocean. Like other Nembrothas (which happen to be my favourite nudibranch genus), this species feeds solely on ascidians (sea squirts). This nudibranch typically grows to be 3cm long.

would you just fucking look at him.
