UNTITLED WIP
This is just something that randomly popped in my head. I'm thinking I might continue this & make it a full story. Idk yet though. I'm posting it on a few platforms to see if there's any interest before I spend the time writing the rest.
Sweat ran down her face mixing with blood and tears. For once, the blood wasn't Kagomes. But that didn't make things any better. Naraku had finally made his move and she only managed to get through the toughest battle of her life by the skin of her teeth.
Her riki mixed with both Inuyasha and Sesshoumarus combined strength had managed to bring down the vile hanyu once and for all.
It should have been perfect. They should have been safe at last! But even though the world hadn't ended...the victorious group wasn't so lucky. Looking around the battlefield Kagome became distraught. The mangled and broken bodies of her friends littered the ground.
Sango and Miroku were huddled next to each other with a sword skewering them together. Kirara was torn in two while Jaken was a mere green smear on the ground. Ah-Un had been beheaded, and his body was torn to pieces. Kikyo was nowhere to be found and Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru lay with gaping holes in their chests, a final 'fuck you' from Naraku she supposed. Even the children weren't spared as Shippo, Rin, and Kohaku lay piled together in the bushes.
Unconsciously she wished with all her heart and soul for everyone to get another chance because none of them.deserved this. They fought too hard for too long to just end in their demise.
She watched as the jewels light slowly faded to nothingness leaving behind an empty shell, like the hollow eyes of her group staring back at her accusingly. There was no way that its magic could return to the land of the living after it left the physical realm.
But it just didn't feel right. Everything about this situation felt wrong. The smell of burnt flesh filled her nose. It reminded her too much of how she lost control over her powers.
'I did this' a voice in the back of her mind whispered. Her breathing became shallow and uneven. This couldn't be real! Tears began streaming down her face mixing with the blood trickling out from underneath her ear and down her neck. Kagome wanted to scream but found that she couldn't produce enough air to let loose.
They were dead, the jewel wasn't showing signs of magic, and she didn't know what to do.
All Kagome knew is the feeling of helplessness. She felt hopeless, like she was going to break down if she tried to speak and everything went black. A sharp pain ripped through her head making her fall to her knees as her vision blurred and then turned completely white.

She woke up hours later near the bone eaters well disoriented and confused. "What's going on? How did I get here?"
"I brought you here." The cold voice of kikyo broke through Kagomes daze and she stared in wonder at what she was seeing. Kikyo was now alive. Truly alive. She could sense her living spirit and aura, unfortunately they were both tainted with jealousy and bitterness.
"You don't belong here copy. It's time you returned to your era once and for all."
She said her voice filled with hatred.
"How are you still alive? I watched Naraku kill you!" Kagome replied. The question felt more desperate than anything else she'd said in quite some time.
She needed answers. The truth.
If she was alive, that meant something must have happened. Something that changed everything.
"You can't continue living in my time if i am.to live my life beside Inuyasha." Kikyo spat. "But, he's dead. Everyone is!"
"Foolish copy! The power of the shikon has brought them back, stronger than before. The battle has been won and your quest is done. You are no longer needed. Go home."
"No! I'm not going anywhere until I know what happened!" Kagome shouted, standing up abruptly. Despite her injuries she remained defiant and stood tall, despite shrinking under her previous incarnations narrow gaze.
"Don't be so foolish! If you remain here, I'll have no choice but to kill you. You'll just die alone and unwanted! Leave!"
"No! Why should I leave jist because you dont want me here?!"
But instead if replying Kikyo physically retaliated instead. With a shove and a scream, Kagome felt herself falling backwards into darkness. Once again, she was plunged into oblivion.

When she opened her eyes once more it was bright and noisy. She groaned as a wave of dizziness overwhelmed her. Slowly, she lifted her hand to shield her face. As she moved her hand away, however, a gasp left her lips when she saw someone standing over her. She was surprised when she recognized who it was but before she could say anything, the figure leaned closer towards her. Her breath caught in her throat. "Kagome? When did you get home?"
Future
They'd all cracked into the fortune cookie Kagome had in her bag. She'd thrown a fistful into her bag a couple of days ago and passed them out to the growing group.
Her eyes watched everyone, waiting for their questions.
"Hmm," she heard Shippo thinking, "Forgive those that speak before thinking." He turned to a munching Inuyasha, "Sorry you're dumb."
"EH," Inuyasha seethed, "Come here ya runt!"
Kagome sighed, "Your family will grow by leaps and bounds."
Sango blushed madly as Miroku's eyebrows wiggled, "Sango, my love-"
She smacked him and walked away, red as a tomato.
She read her own to herself, 'A future full of love awaits you.' She scoffed a bit, "Right..." She looked at her side, he'd yet to say anything, "What does your's say?"
He turned the small slip of paper away, "Hn, you will know regarding in time." She pouted as he slipped the scrap into his haori and folded his arms, watching the kit run from his idiot of a brother.
She smiled to herself, "I guess I'll have to wait for what the future holds."
Who knows indeed.

Nightmare
It was late. The sound of the burning embers filled the darkness gently and the quiet sounds of soft breathing.
Kagome had woken up with that all too familiar, foreboding feeling. Accompanied by that weird kind of feeling that made you feel like you'd fallen out the sky.
That's when she noticed it, something was off. Sesshomaru had fallen asleep, but that wasn't the off part she'd felt. No. It was the quick movement of his eyes fluttering under magenta lids. His quickened breathing.
Something was wrong.
When his eyes snapped open, she slowly crept towards him, "Miko."
At his side, her worry was heavy on her sleeve, "Are you okay?"
He took a moment to rub his forehead, "This one does not need your pity -"
Her fingers gently touched his arm, "You know I'm not."
He sighed, his palm still hiding his face, finally speaking after a heavy silence. "This one's sire haunts me." She nodded gently, waiting for more, "I often dream of if this one had not been so naive as I had -"
"It's okay," she knew he was having a difficult time conveying his emotions. "I sometimes have dreams like that, too." Her arm wrapped around him softly, her messy bed head butting his gently, "Maybe if I had convinced my dad not to go out that day. Maybe, maybe he'd be here today, too."
His amber colored eyes watched her a moment, finally quietly speaking, "My sire." Her azure eyes met his briefly, "my sire would have been fond of you."
When her head nodded against his, he finally felt himself ever so softly nuzzle against her crown. A mess of dark curled hair, tickling his cheek. This silence spoke, and they both relished in its depth that softly carried them back to sleep.
Fond as I, too, have become, he thought finally to himself. Softly falling back to sleep within the arms of this tiny dream catcher. Not again plagued by the nightmares of maybes.

Secrets
It'd be the same routine for at least a week now. She'd do her routine. Bathe, moisturize, and spritz a light mist. Of course, Inuyasha was not fond of it. He'd fuss at her that she didn't need the extra 'stink.'
But she saw his eyes. How, after her routine, his eyes would linger.
Ever curious, she'd attempt to narrow down his fascination. She knew she couldn't just waltz up to the stoic man and straight out ask.
No, she knew she'd have to be smart about this.
She changed up her routine. New soap? Nope. Shampoo, maybe? Nah. Maybe a new lotion? Maybe unscented options? New body spray? Nothing.
The only constant that drew his attention was the oil she used. She didn't use much, but it had become her favorite.
But it was only when on her. She'd put some on Sango's hand, but again he didn't seem to notice.
However, she began to indulge in the attention.
He'd stand nearer or even at times engage in conversation with her.
It was nice to have a man's attention. His eyes on her made her feel all kinds of nice.
She blushed at the thought. Jeez, she sounded so creepy right now. He'd stepped away, but Rin and Jaken were still in camp. So he couldn't have been far.
She'd excused herself, telling Sango she needed to refresh herself.
It was warm, and she was a little sweaty. So, some distance, she finally set down her bag and reapplied deodorant. However, in her sanitary bag, she saw the oil.
"Just a little bit," she murmured, "With all this heat, I don't want to stink.
Putting some in her palm, she balanced the small bottle, finally sealing it. She sighed as she rubbed the oil across her collar bone and neck. The oil made it easy to work on the sore muscles of her shoulders.
Startled, she jumped back into a strong torso, seeing a clawed hand round her. "Do not shout," his deep rumble had her freeze. The hand that had startled her, softly layed at the top of jeans on her hip. The other slowly creeping down her arm, to take hold of her hand.
This set her insides into a weird twist. Her eyes peeked behind her, seeing his bare chest. Her face snapped away, embarrassed. He must have left the group for a moment to try and cool down.
The warmth of his breath caressed up her neck, "You continue to hide-"
She sighed, "I'm just trying to freshen up Sesshomaru-"
A growl cut her sentence short as he snatched her against him, "Woman, I know your secrets."
He'd startled a stillness over her. "Secrets," she asked, almost afraid but also extremely riled from the coarseness of his tone. His nose and lips continued to breathe her in, not at all bothered by making contact. Her thighs squeezed together, feeling all her hormones flood her, "I'm not hiding anything -"
His lips opened as he spoke against her throat, "Liar."
His lean muscles wound around her tightly, "Sesshomaru."
"You've been tempting this one for days," he growled against her skin. "You purposefully lure me to you."
She took in a sharp breath, he'd known?! He knew she had been putting on the oil he favored? Her face reddened further. He knew she'd become fond of him. He knew she had feelings for him.
His fingers left her hip, crawling up her breast to gently caress her neck. With deadly claws ever so softly scraping against her heated skin, he breathed out against her ear, "I know your secrets, Kagome."
Okay, yes. I'm late... again. But in my defense, my body hates me.
Fight
She'd been worrying her lip since he'd arrived. Her hands now fidgeted nervously, "Miko."
Her nervous laugh had his stomach turn, "Hello Sesshomaru. My favorite Sesshomaru -"
He leaned into her space, causing her to freeze. His nosebrushed her cheek, "Greet me properly."
A shiver ran through her when his tongue lapped across her neck.
Still quite shy, she leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
However, before she could utter a word, a hiccup interrupted her. "S'up big bro" Inuyasha slurred. "You kissin' up on my bess frand, ya know?"
A pregnant pause echoed through the woods until he spotted it. An empty bottle. Specifically, HIS bottle of wine that Kagome had gifted him.
Immediately, he saw red, THAT -WAS -A -GIFT. He snatched him by the collar, seething.
"Sesshomaru- no," she grabbed him, trying to pull him off of the drunkard.
When his heated glare met her pleading face, "Kagome, yes!"
She still struggled to pull him away, "No! We both know he's a giant idiot! HEEL DAMN IT!" He was just too damn strong, "I'll buy you another!" Still, he would not budge, "Damn it, Sesshomaru! You can't kill our village's idiot!"

Rain
There was an eerie silence that settled in the small hut that the group had settled in for the night.
The monk was unconscious, but the ever diligent slayer was at his side. Inuyasha grumbled but said little as he sat by the monk. He'd been slightly man handled but was for the most part in one piece.
The children and even Jaken were even quiet. The heavy patter of rain and crackling fire were the only sounds that filled this heavy silence.
Sesshomaru had removed his heavy cauldron armor, intent on finally relaxing after the stressful fight. But his nerves were still alive, and her absence made the air feel heavy.
Finally, a soft sigh escaped him, causing Inuyasha to look up. When he saw him approach the old door, he called out, "Just let her be -"
His hot eyes cut to his, "This one has never listened to you." As the door opened, he again murmured, "Why would I start now."
For the most part, the trees provided some coverage from the rain but not nearly enough to keep him dry. Stopping in his tracks, he could hear her soft footsteps. Her saddened eyes met his, "Sesshomaru."
She was absolutely soaked, her clothing even had become transparent. His boots softly trekked across the now muddy path, "You did not return." Her eyes stayed low, but a soft nod was all he was given. "It is raining,"
"I'm sorry," she murmured.
He watched the rain streak down her face, "The rain does not hide you." But again, when he was met by her heavy silence, he felt even further unsettled. His hands rose, gently pulling her forward without much thought. Dipping his grand height, he very gently dragged his tongue across her cheek. Her hands raised to his haori, feeling she might tilt backwards. "Kagome," his voice seemed a bit softer than she'd expected, "you tried."
His soft words had tears again flood forward, her lips twisting, "I- I couldn't save her."
"Couldn't," he murmured, "Doesn't mean you did not try."
She nodded sadly, trying not to outright sob into his clothing.
After a pregnant pause, he finally spoke, "This one is wet now."
Her teary smile put him at ease, "Well, I guess we should get you inside. Oh great, soggy one."
He set his now heavy haori over her shoulders, "says the woman whom is scantily clad." She pulled the haori closer, feeling a blush rise to her face, "Perhaps should this happen again." He pulled her along, back to camp, "Retrieve this one, so you do not become lost."
A soft laugh escaped her, "Yeah, sure. Whatever you say, Lord Fluffy."
