The fact that so many J*yT*m shippers go their way to write a full bible about Ra's being obsessed with Tim (plus writing extremely racist elements) and Tim hating Ra's and having Jason (and/or Kon) be all stereotypical BL top with the whole "I'm gonna kill that old pervert man" is...

You cannot convince me this has nothing to do with Ra's being Ra's, you know, a non white villain who has a complex background and subjective elements. It's always that side of fandom having Ra's being an awful character to prop up Jason, having extremely racist scenarios where Jason rescues a kidnapped Tim forced in harem clothing, insisting Ra's is an abuser... It's tiring. Everytime I go into the Ra's tag, I see one of these people being awful to Ra's for the sake of it. Why can't you just write your JT stuff and leave Ra's alone, for God's sake!?

I'm. So. Tired. *Those* jokes aren't funny. Portraying Ra's in the most racist way possible isn't funny. This whole speech about why JT is okay but Ra'sTim isn't it's not funny either. You all just show how racist you are and how you don't care to show so if that way you can prop up a white character.

And honestly? A lot of people who are posting stuff in the Ra's tag these days should shut up. You don't know Ra's' character at all, we can all tell. But have fun with your awful treatment of poc characters, I guess! I bet you *love* posting it.

Once again got all intense about how annoying Ra'sTim haters are. I'm remembering that time on Twitter not long ago when they were calling Ra'sTim i*cest... Yeah I know, Twitter is hell, but come on! 😭

I think it's particularly funny because Ra's is a man who reduces his family to his blood ties and even then he is picky. He *will* disown his children (not hurt them! Do not confuse it!) if he considers he has been betrayed so the proposition that he would see Tim as family... And that Tim would see Ra's as family! It's just so funny to me. Tell me you don't read comics without telling me you don't read comics.

I believe Tim and Ra's (before properly interacting) used to see each other as villain and hero. Period. Tim studies Batman's villains and cases so for him Ra's is synonym of bad guy, extremely dangerous, probably best if avoided. Ra's keeps an eye in all the bats, so Tim (still Robin) is a threat too: awfully loyal to the Batman, highly trained, more likely will provoke lots of damage and won't die. And that's mostly it, until Ra's is forced to meet the bats more frequently due to Damian going to live with Bruce. Ra's is more aware of Tim's abilities, and Tim is more aware of the danger Ra's represents, which I think explains why their meetings go as they do.

I don't think Ra's labels Tim as Damian's brother, but he might label Tim as Bruce's son. Which doesn't mean that makes Ra's *feel* like he's related to Tim, and similarly, Tim labels Ra's as Damian's grandfather, but nothing to him. There's no familiar tie between them, nor is their dynamic close to that, so I do wonder why people look at Ra's saying he wants a heir with Tim's blood and think that's familiar and not low-key homoerotic.

I get it if people dislike Ra'sTim due to the "dark" elements (tho I consider them very tame if compared to ships as Hannigram for example) but there's nothing on them that makes it "i*cest" so I do get mad when people accuse them of so. Particularly when it's the fans of certain Ra's' child and her ship who do so, as if Ra'sTim fandom doesn't actually treat her better than gen fans. Hell, Ra'sTim fics always lean in portraying her nicely, erasing the awkward comic canon and allowing her to have her classical bond with Damian. I have even seen certain tendency to ship her with Bruce (tho yes I admit most fandom goes with BatCat, myself included). So the fact that they have this need of hating Ra'sTim is annoying, because Ra'sTim is NOT the fandom treating their fav poorly nor doing anything wrong.

It's awful that we aren't allowed to like Ra's as his own character, that we aren't allowed to speak freely of the interesting elements of shipping him with MEN. Exploring a queer, individual Ra's al Ghul has taught me a lot about storytelling. Exploring an scenario where he falls in love with someone who contrasts with him the way Tim does has made me realize that fanfiction can be more than "I disliked the ending" and that you can write your own opinions on characters that sometimes other people share. It has been amazing and I adore it.

So what I'm trying to say is... People should stop being these loud, violent haters. There's no need for this. Why can't people let others enjoy themselves?

Catlad!Tim makes Ra'sTim better

First of all, we go from a mere "Ra's is in love with the adoptive son of the ex boyfriend of his daughter" to "this son also dresses as the new wife of Talia's ex boyfriend" passing by "Tim is Damian's adoptive siblings and he dresses like their stepmom."

It's wonderful.

And like, in my mind this scenario in particular is a post Red Robin scenario, where Tim has an intense fight with the bats and decides to take a different path, becoming Selina's teammate and expressing his queerness openly with someone who understands him (plus Selina admits she has maternal feelings for Tim). Eventually Tim sort of fixed his relationship with the bats but stayed as Catlad/Stray anyway, living in his own penthouse surrounded by the cats Selina had to leave when marrying Bruce.

And this is when things with Ra's get spicy; sure, Ra's knew that Timothy had left the Red Robin mantle behind and taken a new one, following the steps of Catwoman. However, Ra's had never faced Tim in the field again, and the first time they see each other after these 2~3 years... Man, is Ra's discovering things about himself and his sexuality.

It's not news that Ra's likes Timothy, but now? Now Ra's is whipped, mind taken over by the image of Tim in that tight leather suit with high heels and makeup and cat ears and - Wait, what does this tell about Ra's? Is he weird for liking the cat ears?

Meanwhile Tim, is thrilled! He goes all annoying kitten towards Ra's, being sneaky, mean, playful, seductive, spoiled... He adores the palpable frustration that Ra's is going through seeing him like this, and Tim loves making it worse.

Poor Ra's can barely endure Tim replicating what Selina once did to Bruce: Turns out immortality doesn't give you any more patience regarding people in leather kissing you over rooftops and then pushing you away. Tim thinks it's hilarious, specially when Ra's realizes that Tim always manages to steal something from him.

And ofc this idea is longer, involves a lot of awkward talks between both the bats and al Ghuls, and has mamma cat Selina being the one who understands Tim being attracted to certain awful man (trust her, she knows about liking and marrying not so very good men who need therapy. Hers dresses up as a bat at night). But in general the whole core of this idea I have is just Ra's freezing at the unforgettable and enticing view of Tim as Catlad/Stray.

Tim is the only one who can manage to steal the heart of the demon's head and live to tell it.

After the events of Red Robin, Babs and Luke inform Jean-Paul of the issues and problems going on among the bats. During a mission, Bruce got hurt again and has been benched, meaning the situation of "Dick covering for Batman" is once again back in town. This creates a lot of tension among Dick, Damian, Tim, Jason and Bruce, making it almost impossible for them to work together.

Having their hands full with actual city saving, Luke and Babs called JP to ask him to go back and help for a while. Luke does apologize for it, since he knows JP is way happier in Europe and working on his own. It's not that JP doesn't like Gotham, but he grew tired of Bruce and Dick treating him like trash, so he left months after Jason had that - violent encounter with Tim on Titans Tower.

Jean-Paul admits that was part of the problem too; he didn't like it that Bruce seemed so at peace with Tim getting hurt. And Tim... Tim allowed Bruce to ignore his pain. That was maddening, btw, and Jean-Paul had snapped a few times against Tim, screaming that he shouldn't let Bruce walk over him.

Whatever. Jean-Paul had left. He went to Europe and traveled, getting rid of the order of st. Dumas by himself alone, and then getting rid of other groups equally awful and cruel. It was a tiring, slow job. He traveled a lot, and from time to time visited Brian in Spain to chat, but mostly he focused on ending the cycle of violence that he had been raised into. Eventually he did, and just months later, Luke and Babs call.

Being back in Gotham is - weird. It has been years, and Jean-Paul feels uncomfortable around Jason and Damian. His dislike towards Dick hasn't lowered, and it has stayed as a mutual feeling, although JP can't help to feel a bit of pity for Dick when he sees how tired and old Dick looks once he takes off the Batman cowl. But hey, didn't Dick argue that JP wasn't worthy? Then perhaps he should carry the weight of the mantle he insisted JP tainted.

Mostly, JP doesn't like being back at Gotham. Until he sees Tim.

Tim, who has - grown into such a smart, beautiful and sassy young man. Tim, who wears eyeliner, mascara and red lipstick. Tim, with acrilic nails as sharp as Catwoman's. Tim, with a perfume even more hypnotizing than Poison Ivy. Tim, lethal and beautiful. Tim, that makes JP's knees tremble as if he's a teenage virgin boy.

And it gets worse when they start working together. Huge news! Ofc JP had been called back because Tim refused to work with the bats anymore, and it's JP's duty to work with him and push him back to Babs (she does understand that Tim doesn't want to be close to the others, but she worries about Tim being alone, and doesn't want him going out without any support). And doing that is hell, because JP falls hard and deep for Tim.

JP is sure that he was completely whipped by the end of the third week working together. Maybe even sooner.

That's how Luke learns about it, since JP is awful at hiding his crushes. And Luke has the nerve to laugh, telling JP to ask Tim out as if Tim wasn't way out of JP's league! Does Luke enjoy seeing him suffering? JP thinks he will go crazy if he has to hear one more phrase about taking risks...

And yet JP follows Luke's advice: He asks Tim out.

He asks Tim out in a chat. A grupal chat. With Luke on it. And maybe he's hugging his cat George all the time while waiting for Tim to reply.

Against all logic, Tim says yes, and then texts JP on their private chat (the one that's supposed to be used for cases only), saying just one sentence:

"You're adorable, Jean-Paul."

For the record, the first date goes great. JP manages to get to third base, and Tim smirks smugly while murmuring "Puppy" on JP's ear, nails holding his long blonde hair to keep him in place: At Tim's mercy.

1. What made you ship it?

Okay this is such an easy yet complex question. I have looked back and realized I was writing past/implied Ra'sTim on my fic notebook back on 2014 (give or take) when I was newly done reading Red Robin. I'm unsure exactly *how* is started because before 2020 I had been on an extreme Transformers fixation, and my memories are fuzzy. I believe I was shipping Ra'sTim as a background ship without fully realizing I was doing it (it should also be noted I started as a KonTim religious fan, and grew into a JayTim girlie). I actually read two of my fav Ra'sTim fics back in those years (around 2014-2015), which were in Spanish, but they had a Ra'sTim portrayal that would mark my views, as the characters make the dynamic very different to the most popular ships in fanfom.

It was at the beginning of 2020 when I went back to DC, and funnily enough climbed quickly from JayTim to BruTim and started writing an ongoing fic. While doing so, I re read past fics I remembered I used to love, and went back to read comics as well. Suddenly, after reading Red Robin again, I was looking at Ra'sTim through different glasses. And it was something happening to me in many levels, as I was also getting a bit away from Kon & Jason and more into characters as Babs & Jean-Paul. I wondered what *more* there could be to Ra'sTim, and started reading more of Ra's. As I read and explored Tim in my writing, I realized I wanted them together.

I'm unsure about how to call it. The feeling was almost of enlightenment, like suddenly seeing something that has always been there yet for some reason you couldn't distinguish its shape. Perhaps being a Megatron/Starscream shipper helped, because I saw the potential of Ra'sTim and decided to explore the possibilities and their tones of gray.

At first Ra'sTim wasn't my main ship (although I was already writing it), but as I explored them, the more I felt it was a dynamic that came naturally to me, and scenarios I found more enjoyable.

The more I read their comics and explored them in my writing, the more they felt *right*. Perhaps it was meant to happen, as I can admit they fall a lot more into my tastes in fiction. Ra's as a character drives me insane with his potential and lore, and Tim stays as my favorite bat boy and who I believe changed the Batman mythos.

And yet, everything was born from a simple panel. "You are a very dangerous young man."

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

Oh, this is a tricky one!

I like their dynamic a lot, as I'm an open immortal/mortal sucker. And that does play a huge thing in my view of them and why I come back to Ra'sTim again and again despite having other fixations. The fact that Ra's has such a complex background and is not your usual western interpretation of an immortal (let's say a vampire) is also a fav thing of mine, as I think it allows stories with him to leave usual storytelling and challenge beliefs about good & evil. The fact that he believes he's *good* and a hero is particularly tasty as well, and mixed with Tim's need for helping others and guilt when he's not useful to the world (and Batman), gives a wonderful meal.

Their size difference is extremely hot too.

Aaaaand having a canon mutual interest where they are connected in a mysterious, unavoidable way, it's a cherry on top.

Lastly, I adore their contrast as characters and how they will allow the other to win a little battle in order to win another. It's a game of cat and mouse.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I have unpopular opinions on most characters and ships. Some of them I feel comfortable expressing and others... Not much.

With Ra'sTim I have many of them, but mostly, it's that I loathe how other ship fandoms use Ra's as a random villain to hurt Tim and prop up another ship. For me, that's almost insulting, as Ra's is already a hurt character broken by many writers at DC. For me Ra'sTim it's never about "evil, mean Ra's hurting Tim because villains do that" and even less would I do it for another ship. I enjoy dark Ra'sTim, but never to hurt the characters.

My unpopular opinion then would be about the characters, perhaps. I don't see Ra's being cruel to Tim without reason, because in my mind, Ra's feels *love* and he cares for Tim. And Tim loves him back. They are just messy and won't communicate well, but that doesn't mean Ra's will go full evil and that Tim is a damsel in distress needing saving.

I don't see Ra's as an abuser. Neither do I see Tim as a helpless victim. And I believe this narrative hurts all characters involved without real motive besides wanting to prop up someone else and being too lazy as to read a less known villain or writing an original one.

Everyone voting against Ra'sTim have no taste. NOTHING slaps as hard as the most dangerous man of earth being the one who believes you. Tim accepting Ra's' help because he's alone, he has nothing to lose, and yet in Ra's he finds someone who *believes* him, someone willing to help.

It's a game, sure, but both of them like to play. It's a dance, where the first one to show weakness won't fall to death, but rather, fall in love.

It's an exquisite flirting. Swords, fire and promises.

Plus, it's kinda poetic. The man who wants to live forever in love with the boy who wants to die.

An antagonistic relationship with mutual manipulation, grudging respect and occasional murder attempts. Hot older man trying to seduce a young sidekick to the dark side. The hilarity of Tim becoming Damian's step grandfather. I just think it's neat.

hi, i have for the longest time been confused about the whole proshipping stuff snd you seem to know a lot so i figured I'd ask you. what exactly counts as proshipping? Ive seen people say different things, and i have wondered if one of my ships is included since some people believe its abusive(it is at the end of the franchise) but i dont really know if people count that as proshipping or not

Proshipping means: "ship and let ship", so here's not only problematic or abusive ships in that term. I'm not sure enough which ship it is, but probably it's count as proship as well.

Ever since discovering the gods gift that is toast, I like to have toast for breakfast every morning. There are dozens of great ways to have toast (butter, cream cheese, bruschetta, avocado, etc.) but it wouldn’t be my favorite if it wasn’t toast. I can eat it by itself and still enjoy it.

If I have time, I’ll cook a fresh batch or warm up some sausage or bacon to go with. Share little pieces of it with my pets. A nice treat for myself and others that I can’t always indulge in, but am not disheartened if I don’t get to.

Now, i’ve recently discovered how well toast pairs up with fruit. Keep in mind, I am very much a fruit lover, but until recently I hadn’t thought to have some with breakfast. Having toast and some fruit (like a banana or orange or apple or peach or mango or-) feels is my ultimate breakfast. You can have so many combinations of toast and fruit depending on how you prepare them, and when it’s thoughtfully done my day feels so much brighter and healthier for it. A multiplier for the day’s good will.

Now, if i forget to restock fruit, i feel its absence. Almost mourn it. But I know i can always get it later, and I haven’t forgotten what makes me like fruit with toast so much just because it’s not right in front of me this very second.

Figuring out my ideal breakfast was unplanned, but I’m happy I did. My life feels richer for it, even if it’s just this one little thing. And that’s enough. :)
