Finally, after going through what's considered development hell at this point, the first Mediaverse bonus is here at long last! This little story takes place right after Act I of "The Objective of the Mission" left off, and I think it's a good one. Also here's a fun challenge; count how many times the word 'cool' or a word relating to it is said! Trust me, it's a lot.

Shortly after Act I took place, Shiver and Frye formally introduced themselves to Paper and Scissors, but while Frye and Paper were doing who knows what, Shiver and Scissors were getting into a pretty heated argument.
“You really wanna be this way towards me?”, Shiver said while glaring daggers at Scissors.
“Uh, why wouldn’t I be, lamewad?”, Scissors said, glaring right back.
Shiver gave Scissors a look of disgust. “‘Lamewad?’ Did you even listen to what I told you? I clearly do much greater things than you ever will.”
Scissors rolled his eyes. “Oh, yeah. EVERYONE here is a master at taming sharks and got super famous while only in HIGH SCHOOL. Even someone like ME would know you’re lying.”
…Shiver smirked. “....But not everyone wears shades just so nobody can see them cry. Come on, people could STILL see the tears running down your cheeks.”
With that, Scissors stood up on the couch, having enough of Shiver and how cool she makes herself to be. "That's it...you've pulled my last nerve, woman! I challenge you...to a 'Cool-Off'!"
Shiver then looked puzzled on what a 'Cool-Off' even was. She just laughed at the supposed made up challenge. "A 'Cool-Off'? Please, don't be ridiculous. I haven't heard of such a thing."
Scissors then explained to Shiver about what a Cool-Off was; "Hmph...For centuries, when two super cool people needed to decide who the coolest one of them was, they participated in various competitive and cool activities to determine that factor, also known as a 'Cool-Off'. The winner of the Cool-Off is known as one of the coolest people ever, and the loser has to admit that they're not worthy of coolness."
...Shiver smirked, thinking that this competition would be an easy win for them. "So let's say the obvious outcome of this is me winning. You shut up about me saying cool stuff about myself and say you're eternally uncool?"
"...I guess. But the REAL obvious outcome of this is ME winning, and YOU losing!" Scissors went closer to where Shiver was, causing the two to be face to face. "So, do you accept?"
Shiver had a mischievous smile. "Well, I'm certainly not one to turn down a good challenge. Bring it on!"

The two were outside in the park, preparing for the first round of the Cool-Off.
“Okay, what’s the first part of this little contest?”, Shiver said, completely confident of their soon-to-be victory.
“The first challenge is to see if other people think of you as a cool individual like I am. Like so…” Scissors leaned on a nearby tree looking as cool as he could…but nobody even glanced at him.
“Hmph. Oh well. Everybody must be too intimidated by my coolness. I usually do stuff like this, so try not to feel too discouraged if you never got-” Scissors turned to Shiver and stopped mid-sentence in shock.
An entire crowd of people surrounds Shiver, admiring how cool she looked, and she didn’t have to stage herself in a pose. She just stood there and waved her fan.
Scissors watched it all in disbelief. “How? WHAT!?”
Shiver turned to Scissors with a smug look on their face. “There you have it. Have I won yet~?”

Next, the two were on a sidewalk in the street.
“Okay…you may have won the first round, but I bet this round’ll be tougher for you!”, Scissors said, confident that he’ll win this time.
Shiver laughed. “I know that this round revolves around who can come up with a cool and quick way to get money. But I'm a bandit! I can just rob a bank right now. Why are we in the middle of the street?”
Scissors walks near a moving car and lets the vehicle lightly graze across his arm then falling on the ground faking an injury. “Ow! My arm or something!”
Cut to a jury where Scissors attempts to sue the car driver who had ‘injured’ him.
“In the case of Scissors vs Car Guy, the court rules in favor of..Scissors.” The judge bangs her gavel.
“Yeah!!” Scissors victoriously jumps up, despite literally being in a full body cast.
“Now comes the time of destroying the harming object” The judge says while the man’s car gets crushed right in front of him.
“Ah! My car!”
Shiver watched it all in disbelief. “WHAT!? You’re not even hurt! I..That’s against the rules, isn't it!?”
Scissors smirked. “Well, the rules don’t say anything about faking lawsuits!”
“You literally just said-...GRRR! This isn’t over!” Shiver hits Scissors on the head with her fan and he falls on the ground, faking yet another injury.
“Ow! My head or something!”
“UGH!”

(As the day went by, Shiver and Scissors competed in various cool activities such as cool posing, cool baton twirling, cool jumping through rings of fire, cool feeding flesh-eating lions, you know, normal cool stuff. The score is tied, and the final trial is doing a cool talent of their own.)
“Okay, Shiver. Our scores are tied, and you’re currently looking at the ultimate winner of all of this. How does it feel?”, Scissors said, eager and confident that he’ll win the whole thing.
Meanwhile, Shiver just stared at him with the smug smirk they usually wore. “Oh, you poor, pathetic, ignorant pair of shears. You thought that your victory would be ensured~?” …Shiver broke out in a fit of dramatic and evil laughter.
Scissors watched her, feeling totally freaked out at this point. “Hey...I know showing fear isn’t cool but...you’re…kinda scaring me to be honest…”
Shiver glared at him menacingly. “First of all, you do notice that you’re right in front of the portal me and my crew came from, right?”
Scissors turned around. “Oh. I actually didn’t notice that.”
Shiver smiled and posed dramatically yet again. I suggest you move out the way…” Shiver then calls out; “Join me, Master Mega!”
Scissors promptly moves out the way of the portal, and not too long after, a giant great white shark with a saddle and rocket boosters dramatically jumps out of it.
Shiver immediately jumps on the shark’s saddle. “Pedal to the Megalodon!”
Scissors nervously stares at the sight. “O-oh…a shark.. W-whatever…sharks can’t move without any water-”
Shiver and Master Mega immediately do extremely cool stunts like zooming around town and doing sick mid-air flips while sliding on items resembling ramps. At one point, Mater Mega shot out blue laser beams out of his mouth! …which caused a lot of destruction throughout the city. After all of that, the octoling and her shark stopped right in front of Scissors.
“And, there it is. That’s my cool talent.” Shiver said while climbing off of Master Mega. “Well…what’s your cool talent? I’m waiting.”
Scissors stood there in shock. “I…I ...don't have one…”, he said, opting to feeling complete disappointment.
Shiver looked surprised, but more confident. “Oh? The ‘cool guy’ doesn’t have a cool talent?”
…Scissors sighed. “If anything, I have ZERO talents! I was just trying to make myself look cool because I thought it would just matter if people think that you're cool! ..But seeing you…and your awesome huge shark…I’ll never be as cool as you… I’ll never be as cool as anyone…” Scissors sadly walks back to his apartment. “You win.. I’ll go home now or whatever..”
Shiver saw Scissors and how discouraged he felt. They couldn’t help but feel a little…no…a lot of sympathy towards him seeing how he basically built a fake personality for himself to seem presentable to other people. They look at him, and couldn’t help but think about how they were like that in a sense in the past. “Scissors…wait.”
Scissors turned around and glared at Shiver. “Ugh. What is it now!?”
Shiver sighed and walked to Scissors. “...I know how you must feel. How you want to make yourself look good to other people…and how you just want to be accepted…I know what that’s like.” The two sit down beside each other. “Right now, you can just look at people… and think that you won’t reach up to anyone’s expectations…but, it won't be like that forever. I mean, if anything, you have a better life than me! You get to chill out all day with two of your best friends and not worry about anything. Me on the other hand, I have to wake up SUPER early to do newscasts for Splatsville, AND I have to go on high-stakes bandit missions to give to the rest of the Splatlands. It’s all rewarding in its own way, but it can be really stressful.”
…The two laugh at Shiver’s words.
“Are you kidding? Your life is AWESOME! You’re super famous and generous, and everyone loves you…Meanwhile, I’ll just be a nobody wasting my time with no job like a bum.” Scissors said, still feeling a little discouraged.
…Shiver places a comforting hand on Scissors’ shoulder. “Well, maybe you won’t be a nobody if you make enough efforts in life. You probably did try once and failed countless times just by hearing your story, no offense.”
Scissors looked at Shiver with a hint of sarcasm. “None taken.”
Shiver went back to being encouraging; “But you always have to fail before you even succeed. And one of these days, everything will work out for you.”
…Scissors smiled. “...Thanks, Shiver.” The two get up from the ground. “I mean…thanks for the talk, but it sucks that you gotta leave..”
Shiver laughed. “Who said I gotta leave so soon? I mean, Master Mage has to, no doubt.”
Master Mega whimpered at Shiver’s words while they glared at the shark. “You heard me. Go back home! Go… “ Master Mega reluctantly flops back in the portal.
Shiver turns her attention back to Scissors. “Besides, I wanna see what else a place like this has to offer. And having a new friend by my side while doing it.”
Scissors smiled happily when Shiver said that he’s considered a friend to her. A single tear of happiness falls from his eye. “Great…say, when we get back inside, you wanna order a pizza and watch stupid TV shows together?”
Shiver smiles at her enemy turned friend. “Hm. Deal.”
The duo walk back to the apartment, honoring the bond that they established through each other.
“Also, side note; that catchphrase ‘Pedal to the Megalodon’...it could use a little work.”
“Oh, shut up."
