There is something about Falin’s brother that makes Toshiro burn.

The man is like a constant pressure, pressing on all the sores and soft spots that Toshiro didn’t even know he had. His bigger frame fumbles in, forcing himself into Toshiro’s space. Always poking, prodding him like a molten stoker, hooking into his guts and unsettling him, setting the dry kindling there aflame.

There are times when he thinks he will burn up, bursting into a million splinters. But where Laios is a burn, Falin is a much-needed balm. She soothes him, subdues his errant thoughts with gentle hands and gentler words. She cools the burn of embarrassment he feels, has always felt when he could not live up to the man he was raised to be. A proper man, a nobleman.

When he is with her, Toshiro feels like himself.

It’s what makes her brothers presence all the worse.

rating these laios hugs out of 10 cause they are quite possibly the funniest things i have ever seen

(please note this is not based on laios’s efforts it’s just rating the overall hug)

senshi hug: 10/10. that’s a solid hug right there. bit awkward with the height difference but they made it work

chilchuck hug: 5/10. i’ve been laughing at this for 10 minutes. an effort was made. points have been awarded for an obvious attempt at making chilchuck more comfortable but still is still the awkwardest hug i’ve ever seen. it is painfully obvious that laios once attempted to crouch down to hug chilchuck and received a kick to the nuts and was cursed out for 20 minutes, and has adapted to this so that chilchuck doesn’t kill laios or himself

marcille hug: 8/10. this is the way i hug my relatives that i don’t see very often at family events but it’s still a solid hug

shuro hug: 2/10. this is a great hug but points have been deducted because shuro is a bastard man

falin hug: 1000/10. THAT is a hug and it’s a damn good one. very obvious sibling love right there we love to see it

kabru hug: ???/10. what the fuck is this. what’s with the christian side hug. why are you gently holding his tit what’s wrong with you

Ever wanted to find out what your favorite Dungeon Meshi character says about you? Here you go!:

Laios: He is not your favorite, he is your comfort character. This man is autism with a dad bod, and you’ve never related harder to a fictional character than you have to Laios and his monster cooking hyperfixation

Marcille: You have a very particular set of skills. Do they come in handy? Are they useful in your day to day life? Not really. Ok, they are, but only under very specific circumstances

Chilchuck: You always get mistaken for way younger than you are, and you hate it. You will get asked for your ID whenever you buy alcohol well into your thirties

Senshi: You don’t want a daddy, you want a father. You want a man who will make you a home cooked dinner every night, take you fishing or camping in the summer, and tell you to wear a sweater when it gets cold outside. You want a man who will do all of the things that your dad never did for you

Falin: You’re a girl who doesn’t know how hot she is. You think that you’re average when there are lesbians who would commit heinous crimes for you, and straight men who would throw themselves in front of a dragon for you

They need to get off my mans back cuz he’s done nothing wrong (in regard to liking falin and how he treated her and how they treat each other)

Like he’s never forced her into loving him or moving with him or enforced his ideals onto her

All he did was ask her to marry him and although it was out of the blue, it’s not a crime or something that is wrong

Yall just hating cuz u don’t ship them or sum, u can dislike ships that aren’t of your preference but u can’t blatantly hate on characters (or just make shit up about them) for having their own feelings and thoughts that don’t fit in with what you like

And outside of shipping they are two characters that are entwined with one another through their relationship as teammates and respect for one another for their capabilities

Who even pushed this narrative onto him, saying he’s gonna treat her like a 50s wife like (I smell a tinge of rasicm but I ain’t gonna get into all that)

remember when Shuro proposed to Falin and, though it was strangely sudden, gave her time to respond without pressuring her and spoilers but remember when he did not broach the topic until literally after the series ended and remember when Falin gently rejected his proposal because she respects him and remember when he gracefully accepted her rejection because he respects her and remember how Falin still promised to visit him in his homeland because. she respects him. and they're friends. and remember how the Dungeon Meshi fandom's overwhelming reaction was to treat Shuro like he was a drooling Neanderthal who was attempting to kidnap Falin and bring her back to his cave to force her to be a 50s housewife

blown away by the twin revelations that

2. when charged with bringing back the most interesting thing he can find from a foreign land, with his inheritance at stake, the first thing shuro does is go to the dungeon meshi equivalent of a Cracker Barrel

his brothers are going to come home with exotic spices or a literal white elephant, meanwhile shuro's standing there with a big mouth billy bass and a t-shirt of stewie griffin giving you the finger

Literally almost cried during this scene. Like, just reading the lines as a sub watcher, it hurt.

Interrupting Falin talk to bring you the scene that shows why Laios really great autistic representation and why Shuro is the worst. he's a well written character but I hate him
