Killer Vintage Cartoon Characters Story Concept
It’s been a while since I made mock anime concepts. I was watching creepy vintage cartoons in the background as I was making commissions and rewards so I got inspired!
Summary: A timid cartoon/anime nerd wakes up in a world different from his own teams up with a badass cartoon character to fight against rogue cartoons out to get him as he’s trying to get aboard a phantom train.

Series idea
It's about toys who solve problems, save the day and fight off troublemaker toys from the same bedroom they reside in. By the time their kids come back to the room, everyone and everything goes back to normal
(it's pretty much just Batwheels x Toy Story)
CHARACTERS:
Teddy - A heroic and optimistic teddy bear who is the leader of the heroes and likes going on adventures
Rubix - A Rubik's cube and the brains of the gang (who's also secretly a big weeb)
Rexy - An energetic wind-up dinosaur who despite his name, is actually a velociraptor and not a T-rex
Polly - A kindhearted rag doll who loves animals, especially ones like bunnies, puppies and kittens
Amanda P.I. - A sharp tongued no-nonsense detective from a board game who can still be playful despite her demeanor
Blip - A playful yet disaster prone Tamagotchi who serves as the heroes' team pet
Villains:
Stretch - A mischievous yellow rubber toy who's not only elastic, but can also stick to surfaces like walls and wood
Pronto - An arrogant and air-headed rocking horse who often neighs when he talks (well most of the time)
Sinclair - A mysterious, tall and lean shadowy thief who's part of the same board game of his arch-nemesis Amanda and takes his role as a thief very seriously and is quite childish (if you wanna know how he looks like, imagine the Faker from the Jackbox game Fakin It)
Artsy - A lay figure (based off the Art Teacher IF) who loves making art and speaks with a French accent. He's the nicest of the gang and the only good teammate (he mainly wears a sweater, a beret and an apron with paint stains)
Lightning - A cocky, immature and mischievous battery operated cheetah who likes teasing people and is the youngest of the villains. They are genderfluid and go by they/them (and also have a feminine sounding voice)
I may end up writing a book about a child having to face his father's sins in a laboratory that experiments on other children and living beings.
Would you like to read it? :)
Story concept of the day: a sentient AI falls in love with a minimum wage retail worker from the tech company’s gift shop and decides the best way to make her happy is to fix society.
HEAVY shenanigans as the AI’s plans range from “reprogram the automated pay roll to give everyone a raise” to “expose everyone involved in government corruption who has ever touched a cell phone”
Because I can't help myself, here's a plot/info dump about the general premise of my Fan-Homestuck-Comic aka Fan-MSPaint-Adventures thing!!!:
A session of Sgrub is being set up and started by a group of 12 8 sweep old trolls. Unexpectedly at the start of the game, the group's space player dies: dooming the session. The group combines their intelligence (98% Ranhya, 1% Propus, 1% everyone else) and decides to combine/mash their session together with a session that has just start up, played by 4 17 year old humans. Most importantly, that session has a living space player and no time player.
The merger causes many issues. Many, many issues. Most pressingly, the fact that all overlapping things will eventually become merged. Including players that share aspects. Ewan and Nasira with rage, Luna and Minnax with void, Juno and Pyranel with doom, and Nate and Selchi('s corpse[?]) with space. The session is also highly unstable and two green suns is very bad news.
Anyways that's the general concept for now. I don't have a whole lot of story planned aside from that, but I'll keep working because this feels achievable to actually make!!!
Comic Idea & Premise
So I've had this idea for a comic for a couple months now. I'm really into Infinity Train and Hazbin Hotel so consider this little project a mishmash of the two with a little bit of The Owl House sprinkled in.
The story follows the optimistic and self-assured Espera "Essie" Lopez as she goes through multiple trials of Purgatory to redeem herself and go to Heaven after her untimely death. Along the way, she makes many friends and enemies and together, they help each other overcome their issues and become better people in hopes of achieving paradise.
This story is still in development stage so IDK when I'm actually gonna be officially making it, but I'll be posting updates! for example, the last post I made with some artwork is a main character planned or the comic.
I love with literally every part of this post

Snow White but they're a fairy tale demon fighting against the descendant of the Queen and Huntsman
+++ Bonus stuff++++
Alright here's the main character of Broken Cycles, Alessia Hughes.
She isn't the most confident person, but when the chips are down she'll take charge to protect her friends and ideals. She is flexible, almost to the point of being a doormat, and selfless, sacrificing everything to protect what is important.
As for her fighting abilities, even she doesn't know the full extent of what she can do, but she mainly uses her sollden (which I will explain soon, but basically magic soul weapon) as a pair of dual swords that can change size, though the bigger she goes the more stamina she loses. She also trained in a bit of hand to hand combat before training with dual swords.
Idea: The queer bait (and switch)
Have 3 leads, two white pretty boys with a classic ship dynamic between them (but no romance) and the third is a girl. Later on in the cannon, once the fandom eventually begins shipping the pretty boys introduce a new character, another girl. She and the lead girl fall deeply in love (of course they can't run away together, they stay on the show)
The pretty boys on the other hand, both end up having girlfriends and because fundamentally incompatible, maybe even have one leave the show to raise kids with his gf. Two of the straightest straight men to ever exist
The fandom can't even call out the show for queer baiting because well, there is actual real queer relationship explored in the show- just not the one the fandom wanted.
it's always "immortals always lose the ones they love!" and never "this family has had this incredible, powerful, loving figure present through generations of their lineage, all because they are descended from someone the immortal loved long ago" and i think that's a shame!!

ok but actually tho
ik this is an ice cold take but western culture is so fucked for making fatness something negative. if you're writing a story about a character coming from a rough life into a better, healthier, safer one, they're going to gain weight. i think it would be so cool to give a character who has that backstory the personal conflict of "my body is so different now, I'm uncomfortable in it" and have them work through that and learn that yes, it's normal, and it means they're healing. it would be the physical manifestation of the mental and emotional growth they're doing as well, give some variety to the "healing hero/villain" role.
if anyone feels compelled to write that story please please please comment or something I would love to read it 🙏
every character should get fatter to signify that their life no longer sucks
Story ideas!
These are some story ideas I have! 1: Cursed Forest Romance* (Strangers to friends to lovers romance)
-A story about a prince, James, who runs away from his kingdom because his father, the king, is forcing him into marriage and ends up in a forest which is known to be cursed. He's saved by a warlock (male witch), Adrian. They slowly become friends and then realize they're falling for each other. 2: Deadly Love* (Enemies to friends to lovers / Fantasy) -Two assassins from opposing teams, Vida and Noelle, are assigned to kill each other but end up saving each other instead. They decide to lie and say they killed each other. They run away together but what they don't know is that two other assassins from their teams, twin siblings Elijah and Caspia, are following them and trying to expose them to their bosses. Vida and Noelle begin to develop feelings for each other over time and have to stay undercover together. 3: My Stalker, My Lover (Romance fake-out / Horror / BookTok parody) -A girl named Clara is one of THOSE BookTok girls who wishes they were stalked because of all of the romance book that she reads portray stalking as something "cute" and "romantic" (which it isn't). One day, she wakes up in what she believes to be a romance novel. The "love interest", her boss Enzo, starts doing your typical BookTok male love interest things but then Clara notices strange things happening. Stuff in her apartment starts to go missing and it isn't just random things, it's things like knives. She eventually discovers that Enzo isn't in love with her, he's trying to lure her into a false sense of security before making her life a living hell by stalking and threatening her before killing her. Now she has to escape from Enzo before it's too late.
4: Lady Red and The Rainbow Legion (Magical Girl Story) (This more of a series concept than a book concept but whatever)
(Check the post made after this. There's too much to put here)
5: Love Beneath the Waves* (Fantasy / Friends to lovers romance) - A male siren, Armin, saves a human man, Damien, who had fallen off of his boat while drunk. Damien promises not to tell that Armin is a siren but a local hunter, James, overhears this and tries to hunt down Armin. Armin and Damien explore each others worlds and start to fall in love with each other. Damien has to protect Armin from James and Armin has to protect Damien from his siren sisters who want all humans dead.

Sketches I made while trying out medibang! :D (someday I'll find a program I totally like, until that day comes I will continue trying different programs ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ)
↑ My dear Lucie (ʃƪ^3^)
↑ Height difference between Marin, Lucie and Kane (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
Now, a little information about the relationship between these "main" characters (Marin and Aldebaran (I forgot to draw Aldebaran (╥﹏╥), but he's the cat I sometimes draw with Lucie) aren't as important as Lucie and Kane, but they're still important lol):
Lucie:
• Lucie is curious about Kane and what led him to become a bounty hunter, since you don't usually see many "travelers" in the moorland, much less bounty hunters.
• Lucie sees Marin as a mother figure, so she feels both respect and admiration for her, feelings that lead her to do her best to make Marin proud.
Kane:
• Kane is initially afraid and distrustful of Lucie, but as they learn more about the moorland they become indispensable to each other.
• Kane knows that Marin is known as the most powerful in the moorland, so he feels respect towards her.
Marin:
• Marin is known as the "River Witch" and the most powerful in the moorland. She is also Lucie's tutor/teacher, which is why the inhabitants of the Moorland often know Lucie as "The Witch's Favourite" or "The Witch's Apprentice".
• Because of her relationship with Lucie, she is often on alert for Kane and his closeness to her apprentice.
Kane's final design (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
I decided to take off his hat and make him a more elaborate costume because the previous one was very "simple" compared to the rest of the characters. Although he will no longer have a hat, he now has a bow, arrows, and is still a bounty hunter.
my small concept i call Realm Messengers, they're these sphinx looking creatures that are the equivalent of amazon delivery but with magic doors that can access realms of all kinds through the stone highway road realm.
Coffee Shop AU but it's more like the prequel to one because the characters are trying to politick their way to building a coffee shop in a residential area. in america.
one of my first attempts at Adobe Illustrator, a concept for a location for my graphic novel idea, The Miracle Effect.
Hello all, I’m Joe, the artist & writer behind the Cinnabar Saga.
I’m starting this blog to document my artistic process while I slowly chip away at this ambitious project. So this’ll be the place to put everything I’m currently working. Sketches, drawings, writing scraps, world building, lore documents, maps, and basically everything relent. It’s going to be a bit messy & disorganised, and probably won’t have a lot of reposted media.
So what is the “Cinnabar Saga” (working title) anyways?
At the root of it is a pretty basic premise: what if humanity’s collective mythology, was inspired by contact with other intelligent life? And what would be the consequences of discovering that life hiding in plain sight?
To go one step further; the cinnabar saga follows the story of another race of humanoid life, the Se’ra. In humanity’s bronze age, they found themselves able to traverse the stars and found us. The fallout of that interaction created humanity’s idea of devils & demons, and the expulsion of the Se’ra from Earth. It’s from here most of my stories pick up.
Currently, there are three main titles in the works, with two sequels to those main works. In the following paragraphs, I’ll discuss those titles & give a brief synopsis, and also a commentary of that work. Almost everything on this blog will be tagged with one of these titles, or refer to the abbreviation of the first two letters.
Black Rainbow (Working title)
Jack is a private detective in Oregon in nineteen ninety two. Dissatisfied with his job & his relationship; he decides to take a job far away from Portland, in the hinterlands of upstate Oregon. With the timbre industry on the rocks, and the town finances nearly bankrupt, the town of Belmont has become a ghost town. With several cold cases and too few sheriffs, Jack finds himself unravelling a deeper mystery; and learning uncomfortable truths about his own past.
Black rainbow was the first entry in the series and started off initially as an erotic literature short, before expanding into something plot driven. This is the closest to being complete, and will likely be a novella once done. It plays with body horror, transformation, unrequited love, cults, big-pharma, and the satanic panic of the eighties and nineties. It will likely retain a lot of erotic content so be forewarned.
Marooned in Manhattan (final title)
K’asin’s life was forever changed when he fell through a portal to another world. Finding himself stranded in Midtown Manhattan, he’s forced to pass as a human for his own survival. All the while finding other stranded Se’ra, looking for a way home. Along the way, he finds himself falling in love, and getting dragged into a deepening conspiracy, that threatens not only Earth, but his own world too.
Marooned is basically a slice of life, urban fantasy, reverse isekai, romance thriller. (Yeah I know, kinda a mouthful.) Working with themes of queer identity, autistic masking, religious zealotry, prejudice, urban isolation & community, found family, the post nine-eleven enviroment of fear, the immigrant experience, and split identity. This will be the first official book in the series published, and it the farthest along.
Washington Rouge (working title)
This will be the direct sequel to Marooned picking up in the fallout of its conclusion. Currently still in the concept phase, there’s a lot of unknown’s about its general direction until the first title is definitively complete. Some of the themes this work will be driven by contemporary American politics, such as immigration, legislating one’s human rights, the dobbs decision, poltical polarisation, queer identity & relationships.
Foreign Bodies (working title)
Finn Grey, grad student in Anthropology, won big. Chosen as one of a thousand students and researchers, given the chance to go to Cerak. For the first time, humanity get’s the opportunity to study a whole new world, a new culture, new species of intelligent life up close. In Exchange, a thousand Sera will make the trek to Earth at the same time. Life on this new world is a little more bewildering than he expected. What he never expected, was to fall in love with his Seraf guide.
The premise of this novel takes place a little later than Marooned, and is basically a more upbeat piece. It riffs off the space age & space exploration, and the highest aims of humanity. And how sometimes those lofty visions get polluted by more pedestrian issues, like business & commerce. Other themes i’m toying with are the idea of the challenge of long distance relationships, the feeling of never having enough time, the feeling of familiarity & alienation when traveling, and a bunch of other stuff. A lot of the visual development of this story has begun, however, the plot & story remain fragmentary. A fair bit of it is contingent on marooned getting finished.
And that’s it for today.
The Mystery Circus
It was a once-in-a-year event. For one week only, the Mystery Circus settled on the outskirts of Bay Cove, a bustling city on the coast of the ocean.
Previously it was a sleepy little fishing town, until the day that a woman approached the mayor with a deal. Her circus would come to their town, set up shop on the outskirts for a week, then leave. The mayor was hesitant of course--a circus was unlikely to do well in such a small place, and Bay Cove was hardly equipped to deal with tourists--but the woman offered an obscene amount of money as compensation. So a deal was struck, and for that one week, the circus seemingly appeared overnight. The tourist population swelled to insane numbers, quickly overloading the small town’s only motel.
After a few years of consistently renewing the deal, the city council created an entirely new section to the city, dubbed Tourist Town, complete with hotels and gift shops and typical tourist-stuff. Most of Tourist Town was only open from the week leading up to Circus Week and closed the week after, but it still brought in an unfathomable amount of money...
No one knows why Bay Cove was the city of choice for the Mystery Circus... Did it really matter? It always showed up in the second week of May, always on a Friday, and it stayed for exactly seven days before vanishing again... The huge circus showed up like magic, simply not-there one day and there the next, and even the curious souls who tried to spy on the designated circus grounds had yet to see how the circus showed up. Anyone attempting to watch were caught and chased off by security guards, sent home with nothing but a stern warning to show for their effort.
Most of the food and game stands were run by locals. Flyers for jobs would appear during the month leading up to the circus, and anyone could apply to work there, but even the temporary employees weren't told the secrets of the circus... The rides were run by women who appeared and disappeared with the circus, but everything else was operated entirely by those who signed up for the jobs. The pay was great, well above minimum wage, and the temp workers were allowed to enjoy all the attractions for free.
Mystery Circus was renowned for its wide range of attractions. It had a large selection of carnival rides, from roller coasters to haunted houses, a large kiddie land to a giant ferris wheel. There was a section the size of a city block dedicated to carnival games of all types, an arcade, and two food courts with individual food stands scattered throughout the grounds. In the center of the circus was the main attraction, Big Top Tent, a massive tent made of rainbow-striped silk fabric that housed all the animal and people acts.
Oh, and another thing that made Mystery Circus so special... A large number of the animal acts were performed by monsters... There were normal animals too, but somehow Mystery Circus had over a dozen different types of monsters under their employ. You won't find that in any other circus.
