Back in 2013, Sufjan Stevens took to Tumblr to trash the typography on the cover of Savages’ debut album, Silence Yourself. “The very cool SAVAGES has allowed a very uncool typographical blunder on its LP cover,” he wrote. “Who the Fraggle designed this?” Three years later, Savages’ Jehnny Beth has responded, with comments made on her Beats 1 radio show “Start Making Sense,” airing tonight. When a listener requested that she play “Impossible Soul,” from Stevens’ 2010 album The Age of Adz, she refused, saying that not only would it not make sense to play a 25-minute-long song on the radio, but also that Stevens was more or less banned from her show because of his remarks about the artwork.
The very cool SAVAGES has allowed a very uncool typographical blunder on its LP cover: Helvetica Narrow (weight loss is the worst thing that can happen to an iconic font, aka iOS 6). Also can we talk about the weird italics (unnecessary affectation, and very un-British), cramped leading (totally unforgivable) and unnecessary line break? Who the Fraggle designed this?
One more thing about this album: the awkward blatancy of an ALL CAPS manifesto (with line breaks) on the cover is, on one hand, a bold move (typographically), and, on the other hand, an indication of restraint and self-possession (compared to the explicit cover design of most punk/rock albums; compared to the explicit cover design of my albums, always screaming for attention). Case in point: the inherent democracy of ONE CASE (every letter equally measured) forgoes the political hierarchy of upper/lower class. Am I reading too much into this? The band has somehow achieved mystery and modesty in brash exclamations about “silence” (resonance of Buddhism?) rendered via typographical faux pas (all caps=yelling). (What would E.E. Cummings do?) Context is everything: punk sermons situated beside a muted black and white photo (evoking the band in stillness, slightly pissed off) provoke visual tension and/or situational irony, a reflection of the band’s sound and style (silence vs. noise). Restrained Aggression. Aggressive Restraint. Clean lines, crisp utility, minimalism, functionality. These are also the qualities of a good font, Helvetica being the supreme deity, and Futura Medium a minor prophet. (Times New Roman may as well be the air we breathe.) I recall in writing workshops the constant admonishment to allow your prose to disappear, so that the narrative became an “illiterate experience,” transcending the text itself, magnifying in ether (the magnitude of all things communicated by nothingness, i.e. silence). To accomplish this on the page (or in a song, or on an album cover) is one thing; to live it is nothing less than enlightenment. Thank you, Savages, for the urgent all caps homily (to “recompose” ourselves in silence). I will never forgive your awkward italics, but I will forever sing your anthems to my children’s children.

Do people still dab anymore?
Creo que estos videos están en todas partes, algunos están a simple vista y son obvios, y otros son un poco mas rebuscados, pero al final todos ellos están aquí. Hace un mes o dos creo que vi un Short de YouTube y tenia estos mensajes, también encontré un par de videos que no puse acá, voy a buscarlos luego. Ellos contienen mucho sentimiento te hacen acercarte a alguien que desconoces completamente. Los sentimientos pueden ser parecidos, y a pesar de que algunas personas puede que nunca hayan tenido el mismo sentimiento, aquí están leyendo estos mensajes y compartiendo la misma sensación que dejo ese mensaje.
Esta vez estaba en Youtube viendo algunos videos en la pagina de inicio y me recomendó Sufjan Stevens, "Fourth Of July", es la canción subtitula al español, en el video original también se puede leer comentarios de las personas expresando el mismo sentimiento de tristeza o perdida, de un ser querido o el sentimiento de perdida y falta de algo que aun no tienen.
Varias veces escuche esta canción por que me encanta, de por si, es como si, esta canción expresara mucho mas de lo que parece.
Hoy es un día donde estoy intentando saber que hacer con migo misma, no me siento triste, estoy por arriba de lo normal, ósea me siento con energías, pero no puedo decir que estoy feliz, porque se que es posible que cualquier cosa me haga caer. Desde hace mucho sentí que caí en un pozo y ahora solo me estoy manteniendo en el fondo, siento el vacío y creo que simplemente me acostumbre a el.
Busque está canción Apocalypse de Cigarettes After Sex por un fanfic que estaba leyendo, la escuché y, de verdad, no sé cómo es que termine leyendo los comentarios de la canción, dios encima que son un montón, ya que la canción está desde hace 4 años, son realmente hermosos, es un genuino sentimiento agridulce, está repleto de recuerdos y emociones.
Me encantó leer algunos que eran viejos y otros que tenían horas de publicarse, ó que estuvieran en diferentes idiomas, además de todo, que expresarán sentimientos que otros respondieran con que se sentían igual o que les pasó algo parecido, enserio me encantó, amaría encontrar más de estos pequeños y inadvertidos lugares.

I am never going to wear high heels again Who came up with these shoes? I walked in them for five hours today and I absolutely despise them. If it weren't for my friend, I probably would have sprained my ankle multiple times I watched the movie Barbie and it was fantastic. I initially thought it would be a tragic movie, but even in the final scenes, I was emotionally moved. If you have nothing else to do, you should definitely go see it After the movie, we strolled around the shops (I made a promise to myself after my friend sang "Honey Honey" by ABBA loudly in the CD section, causing the saleswoman to give us disapproving looks. I decided that I wouldn't accompany him to the store again), had dinner, and then sat in the park's shade waiting for the bus because it was scorching hot. When I got home, I worked on my book. Now I'm so exhausted that I'm practically falling asleep on my feet. I have to wake up early tomorrow for training, so I have to go to sleep or I'll be functioning only on coffee tomorrow That's all for now. Goodnight <3
