Some fanart of Miraak and my Dovahkiin ! There’s quite a lot of this ship around and I wanted to make something as well ! This is supposed to be a moment when Hjaskar (my Dragonborn) reassured him that he is free now, not caged in Oblivion anymore. Imagine how powerful a Dragonborn couple would be omg 😭💕

for better reference, check out illumancer's old drawings of their miraak - i'm heavily inspired by that, because it was the first representation of miraak that i'd ever seen that totally agreed with me.
tall (which i believe is the only fandom-wide consensual characteristic), broad shouldered, long and thick limbed, strong boulder of a man. rich brown skin (in my canon, he's part yokudan) with these gorgeous golden eyes like q sunset; but, in the modern era, they're notably unsettling to look at because of their lack of life. they occasionally flare with emotion, but most of the time they are cold and flat, and despite their beauty, that thousand-yard-stare is difficult to keep prolonged eye contact with.
his hair is a bit unruly, a bit wavy but not curly (unless it grows long) and usually parted, but not slicked back, with some strands framing or falling around the edges of his forehead. his nose is broad, his jaw is broad and a bit squarish, his lips are soft and everything about his face is proportionate. and his eyebrows are pretty thick, but neat (once read a post where they said people w thicker eyebrows are more angry so YEAH).
in my canon (and mostly because, when i first started writing, i was a bit all over the place and not thinking much about anything) miraak takes his mask off almost immediately out of apocrypha. he leaves it in his backpack, and later, in their room at the college, and after that, tucked away in one of those low, long chests at the foot of the bed in their home. he never touches it unless he needs to - and he almost never needs to. he doesn't want to keep wearing the mask outside of apocrypha because it reminds him of hermaeus mora, it reminds him of the young, stupid, prideful man who thought he could cheat a daedric prince, who thought he could topple dragons, and who thought he could abandon his family in pursuit of false knowledge. he switches out the mask for a hood, usually pulling it up to cast a shadow on his face but not hide it. he deserves to be seen.
even the scars, the two over the bridge of his nose, and the one in his eyebrow. he leaves the mask behind because he forgot his face in apocrypha, and is too terrified of forgetting again to don the mask once more.
that, and he enjoys tharya being able to caress his face whenever she wants to.

hey there! hope everything is great with you; i just wanted to let you know that I recently finished your First & Last series and it was one of the most incredible reading journeys i’ve ever been on! Tharya and Miraak were brought to life through your writing in a manner i’ve rarely seen in any text, fanfiction or otherwise. Every story made me laugh and cry, both from joy and sadness, and i’m sure i’ll be rereading the series for years to come. I hope that you revisit our favorite dragonborns if the inspiration strikes you, but the series is still perfect as it is if you don’t. best of luck with your education/career, and thank you for giving this stressed student a wonderful adventure to read!!

first of all, thank you SO SO SO much for your kindest words!!!! i love getting these asks and texts from after the fact of people reading the whole series - that's a HUGE commitment and i am endlessly grateful people got as invested in tharya & miraak as i did (and am!). i laughed and cried while writing and i'm so glad to hear that emotion came across. so thank YOU so so much for your support and for reading!!
i actually do really want to revisit them sometime soon, i've left a short minific (the arms of chaos) on hiatus for a quite bit but it's been creeping back into my thoughts lately. but i'm quite busy currently so i'm not sure when that will be, so keep an eye out 😎😎

six fics telling of the journey of the last dragonborn as she rescues the first from apocrypha, brings him back to tamriel, grapples with the political turmoil of the country and magical happenings related to the pair of dragonborns. includes REVENANT, my crowning glory fic, a story told by the LDB of her past after killing alduin but before the events of the series.

Suddenly Miraak was below her on the ground, his eyes widening and the stench of fear flooding through his pores as he called her name; he was so distant, so slow. Her saliva slathered over her chin and dripped onto his neck, onto his pulse, quick and warm. She felt dirt push under her nails as she dug her hands into the soft ground on either side of his head - somehow his arm had detached from her, she felt it slip away as her back began to bend and crawl and her skin moved and bubbled and trembled, stretching so thin it turned white, and then a murky brown-grey.
"Tharya," Miraak whispered, struggling for breath as her face twisted and snarled just above him, as her teeth lengthened and sharpened. "I'm here, elskavin. Don't. I'm here. Your family-" she screamed at him as he spoke, a scream that had a thousand different sounds behind it, augmented chords that pulled and plucked her voice into a gargling roar, and then a guttural howl.

I'm terrified because I accidentally in my enthusiasm sent the miraak starter to the person who made the post but there's no take backsies. But the "in the mortal realm, I'm under your power" is such a powerful thing to sAY

MIRAAK IS A CAT GUY. i don't think he likes dogs very much at ALL, but he enjoys cats (and possibly other farm animals, esp sheep, which surprises him! i think he occasionally likes to stop and pet animals on the farms they pass while traveling). i actually gave tharya & miraak a vale sabre cat from gelebor during their own timeskip, her name is runa and she is the best🥰 she's huge and has massive teeth so she's good to have around for protection, but also for a long time she was very very tiny kitten and miraak would let her sit in the neckline of his robes while they traveled so she could stay warm and comfy, with just her lil head peeking out. tharya would put a glove or kerchief or something to wrap her & carry her in the bandolier she has so runa could peek out and watch too. she was small for a long while, but then grew very quickly, so now she's large but still young and still wants miraak to carry her around (he tries occasionally).
(edit: i think he also just enjoys little Animals in general. i have a headcanon that while he was a priest on solstheim he had two little sugar-glider-esque pets (native critters to atmora) with him that morokei gifted to him :3)

HONESTLY. i want to say yes but also no but also....like YEAH😭
for me, my army of OCs largely never have (biological) kids because i personally don't want kids and tbqh i don't.....REALLY like them a lot? tho some OCs adopt or gain found-family children (i.e. my inquisitor & sebastian vael, who adopt meghan vael when she reappears in the city after seb takes the throne).
miraak & tharya never have kids of their own (there's lore), but miraak really loves kids. so i remedied this by making tharya's family have a ton of kids; you have sofie, who they unofficially adopt, and then tharya's brother adopts her, and then tharya's OTHER brother and his wife have 3 kids (there's a very tender scene of him getting their youngest cozied up for a midday nap in my upcoming fic). miraak also occasionally teaches local whiterun kids at the temple of kynareth. he enjoys letting them climb all over him and is happy that his presence makes them feel safe, and gladly holds them or holds their hand when they want, and is VERY protective of them when he has them. BUT i cant help but think some days he would wish to live in a world w the backpack leashes when they're all especially rowdy🗿 but this is all just me teehee i wanna hear other miraak crowd's thoughts 👀👀👀
Heeeey everyone! ٩(◕‿◕｡)۶ The last few days, when I had any free minute of my time (´-ω-`), I spent it on drawing Miraak, in general I dreamed of this idea (heh, almost as usual о( ❛ᴗ❛ )о), I was in the role of Dovahkiin and instead of standing (as happens in the canon scene) Miraak was sitting on a roughly similar throne ٩(｡•́‿•̀｡)۶,
I was so impressed that I woke up, turned on the laptop and, without connecting the tablet, with the mouse I sketched the image that was in my head (otherwise by the morning I would have simply forgotten about this dream (≖､≖╬)),
Aaand this drawing I did it for about a week, one to two hours a day and I’m very pleased with the result („ಡωಡ“)
