Mohatu raised his head, not believing his best friend's words.
"What?"
"You heard me, Mohatu. I'm done. The Lion Guard is over for me."
"Takatifu, if this is because of what happened with the herds-"
The Bravest shaked his head. "We no longer has respect, Mohatu. Our Leader, your brother, died a few moons ago. The rest are sick because of the drought, I'm the only one protecting those warthog brains and I can't even get a drink?". Takatifu unsheated his claws and hit the dry earth under his paws.
"You know it's our duty..."
"But you have your family! Your daughter is still with you! My mate left and I couldn't go with her because of this 'duty'!". The brown lion ducked his head. "I was going to have a son..."
Orange eyes looked at the sky, no clouds could be seen in the distance. The King sighed.
"Then I am going".
"Huh?"
"I'm going to fix this. It's our duty, and I have it not only with The Pridelands, but The Lion Guard as well. I'm going to find a source of water and then...
"And then..."
"And then you can go to search for your family, Takatifu."
The guard member couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Don't make promises you will break, Wahabu".
Mohatu chuckled. "You haven't called me that since we were cubs."
"Please..."
The King raised himself in all his glory. "I promise you, my friend, that once I come back, you will be free to be happy. I will make sure of that."
The brown lion nodded and Mohatu started to walk away from The Pridelands.
Except...
"Can you take care of Uru, for me, though? She only trusts you."
Takatifu laughed. "Of course, my friend. I promise."

When the King came back with the news of a water source he was also met with news himself: Uru, in her naivety as a cub, had found an underground pond and screamed with joy at her discovery. The Pridelanders, in desperation, had almost trampled her, has it not been for Takatifu, who had lost his life under the herds hooves.
Mohatu's roar of grief could be heard for days.
And the skies roared with him, rain finally pouring, onto the land of broken promises.

Wahabu is the swahili word for "god of love". Mohatu doesnt have a meaning so I went with the same thing i went for Mufasa's name: originally named after gods/spirits, but them rejecting those names and going for something more humble.
Also updated my Mohatu's design: he has a twirl in his mane that resembles a heart (hence his original name) and also an underbite because i love that and Uru had to inherit it from someone.

Didn’t put the last part of the form here bc it’s basically just me ranting XD but the last question is "Do you have any artists/writers/works that you want to recommend?" and the answer absolutely goes to A King’s Burden by TheDarkNone on AO3 :) It’s just really one of if not the best fic I’ve ever read and I really miss the feeling reading it for the first time😭
Btw I don’t really know how to translate 工具人 but it basically means the guy who gets used by other people like a mere tool with or without knowing, kinda fits the poor Uhtred lol (

The camera pans in on Optimus and Cade aboard the Autobot’s ship. Cade sitting in Optimus’s lap. They’re talking. Trying to catch up. Cade begins to yawn and after a while Optimus asks the human, “Cade, do you just want to take a break for a while?”
“What like just disappear for a while? Just the two of us? Nah who’s gonna watch the kids? I mean bots. I meant soldiers.”
Optimus chuckles, “Well maybe for just a few days then. I’d hope they’d be able to not tear each other apart for two days.”
Cade laughs at that and yawns again, “I’d like that.”
Optimus smiles and picks Cade while he adjusts himself so that he is now laying on his back. Cade lets out a yelp as he’s picked up and gently placed down on Optimus’s chest. Cade smiles at Optimus one more time before laying down and making himself comfortable on Optimus’s chest, “G'night, Optimus.”
A large flame painted hand hovers over Cade protectively, “Sleep well, Cade.”
And the two finally get that much needed sleep that they both fucking deserve. Let my boys rest damn it.
They look at us and they see weak and feeble women, but therein lies our strength. Aethelhelm and his men are fools to underestimate us.
