John Dory's Best Friend AU Story

I have started writing this fan fiction. I have four chapters posted to Fanfiction.net and Archive of our own as I write this. The story is called Fish and Flower by Jillian Fahey. Yes, the chapters may be shorter. I have a solid idea of three points of the story and how it will be an open ending. But actually getting the story to do things is not always smooth. It will be mostly focused on John Dory, his friend/my OC Lily, and Branch with the other brothers mentioned. I hope you check it out.

What if the Trolls's music hadn't been restored after Poppy destroyed the strings? (A.K.A, a rewrite of Band Together)

Barb screamed, holding the fading strings in her paws. Tears began to flow. Everything was silent.

And then everyone began to leave.

Branch knew what being gray was like, but seeing everyone gray? A month had gone by since the strings were broken. There was no music. Pop Village was quiet. No parties were held, hug time was ignored, and no one sang or danced.

He had seen the Pop Trolls be gray, but that had been for around two minutes. Seeing Tiny and other young trollings growing up with this grayness was unsettling.

"Branch! Branch... Daddy isn't singin'! Nobody is!" Tiny yelled, running up to Branch and hugging the feral troll's leg.

Branch picked him up carefully, hugging the small trolling tightly. "It's going to be okay, Tiny.. we can fix this, okay?" He assured Tiny, lightly swiping a tear off the glitter trolling's cheek.

They ventured out together, taking only one bag with the essentials: Some rations, water, and a few pairs of extra other for Branch. And a scarf for Tiny incase he got cold.

"We just need a little bit of help. I think I know some trolls... we just need to find them!" Branch smiled at Tiny who was sitting on his shoulder.

Out in the middle of Lonesome Flats was some kind of large bug... bus? Someone stepped out of it's door, walking over to the river next it to. John Dory.

Tiny hid in Branch's hair as the feral troll approached his older brother. The one who had left him.

"John Dory." He grumbled, standing right behind John. His tail lashed, his deep blue eyes narrowed as Branch's older brother turned to see him.

"B-Bitty B..?" He asked in bewilderment.

"Don't call me that. It's Branch, John." Branch snapped, crossing his arms. "I need your help."

John was gray, too. Of course, he lost his music when the strings broke, just like everyone else.

"Music across every tribe is gone. We need to get it back, and for that..." He sighed. "We'll need to find Spruce, Clay, and Floyd again.. and attempt the perfect family harmony."

John Dory stood, smiling. He cocked his thumb at the door of the bug/bus thing. "Well then, since it seems I have no choice. Let's get goin!"

Branch climbed in, Tiny popping out and onto his shoulder again.

Maybe this would work.

It was very quiet inside of Rhonda. Well, that was if Tiny's snoring was ignored.

They had parked just at the edge of the ocean near Techno Reef. Rhonda was parked in a decently shrubby area, mostly camouflaged.

It was so, so quiet. Almost too quiet. Branch couldn't sleep. He never could when he was out of his bunker. Even if he was in his bunker, he'd much rather sleep in his pile of pillows and blankets, cuddling a stuffie Poppy gave him for his twenty-fourth birthday.

And John couldn't sleep either. The two brothers quietly agreed to keep pushing forward. They needed to get to Spruce, because they only knew where he was.

Branch wrapped Tiny up in a soft blanket that hopefully wasn't uncomfortable for his skin.

Rhonda was woken up. She cooed softly before skittering towards the water.

For being some kind of bugbus, she was really good at swimming. After almost and hour, there it was. The giant sign in the sky. "WISH YOU WERE HERE!" it read.

Rhonda was parked in some bushes on the edge of the island. Branch picked up Tiny, carefully tucking the trolling into his hair.

Branch stood atleast two feet apart from John. And then something picked Branch up from behind.

He didn't even think before twisting around in the mystery person's grasp and raking his claws across their chest. They screamed in pain, dropping Branch as stumbling back.

The troll... was Spruce. The same bright sky blue eyes and purple hair. Except.. his hair was longer, and he didn't have abs anymore. He looked completely different.

The Mount Rageons aren't bugs, I'm actually not sure what I want them to be yet. The Bergens are lizard like and the trolls are bugs. Maybe Velvet and Veneer could be frogs. I dunno yet.

JD doesn't come back. Theres no way for them to come back sadly. He raises Clay on his own on the move while Spruce raises Floyd and Branch.

Been a rough couple of weeks

Anyway here's some fun facts about the Vlog au! John Dory was 17 when he finally caved and left the toxic environment that was his home. He left shortly after their parents announced that Branch was going to be born. Branch was conceived because the videos were losing rankings following the initial shock and surge of Floyd getting sick.

JD was technically homeless for 8 years after leaving. He hopped from job to job but never managed to hold them due to being raised in such an odd fashion after the channel was created. A year after leaving JD met Hickory who had just recently escaped from a cult that his family was in. Dickory is still involved in the cult.

Floyd is chronically I'll even to this day but the parents never allow more tests than enough to fill a short update video because of the attention the sick videos get.

Spruce is essentially brainwashed by their parents. He was more resistant before, that is until JD left. He does everything they say and doesn't believe they could do wrong.

Clay threatened to run away like JD did, despite hating JD for leaving them behind. He was instead put on editing instead of being on camera and eventually he found a video JD recorded saying goodbye among other things.

Branch is the catalyst for the entire channel falling apart.

I need more of the Brozone being SO protective of Branch pls

Someone even look at him the wrong way? His brothers will start throwing hands.

I love this kind of sibling relationship sm, it's so cute.

Branch who would usually fight back but doesn't do it anymore after getting his colours and his brothers who will do the fighting for him!!

When anything bad happens/there's a threat, the Brozone is always infront of Branch to protect/shield him or smt

I've seen a few fics of this idea and it's so adorable 😭
