now I have some eyes on me, here's what this all really was for, take a look at this
Somewhat ironically, I think possibly the most human story about 9/11 is the one about the tree they found in the rubble.
About thirty days or so after the attacks, as rescue workers were trying to clear the wreckage and find the bodies of the dead, they found this little tree branch sticking out, otherwise unremarkable...but it still had leaves. And do you know what they did?
They dug out this tree. They dug this burnt and blackened tree out of the pile, took it out of the city and re-planted it to give it a chance to survive. To grow back. Just because they saw these leaves. And by some miracle, it did, and ten years later they brought this now 30-foot-tall tree back to lower Manhattan to plant it in the memorial at ground zero. They brought the tree home.
And is that just not...the most human fucking thing? These guys saw this one thing in that pile that was still alive, and they said dammit, we're gonna save this little tree. We can't save anything else, but we're gonna save this tree. And they did.
Say what you want about people, but I truly believe we are good at heart.

Of the 19 hijackers who carried out the Sept 11 attacks:
15 were from Saudi Arabia (a powerful/oil-rich country the U.S. works hard to maintain diplomatic relations with)
2 were from the United Arab Emirates (also a powerful/oil-rich country the U.S. works hard to maintain diplomatic relations with)
1 was from Egypt, 1 from Lebanon.
None of the hijackers were from Iraq.
None of the Sept 11 hijackers were Iraqi.
None of the 9/11 hijackers were from Iraq.

i wish there was a way to be like "research the TRUTH about 9/11" without sounding insane, but the older i get the more i realize i wasnt misremembering and the memory of that day has become completely sanitized as an example of american heroism in the face of terrorist aggression and not one of the most horrific systematic failures and explicit moments of sociopathy resulting in a mass maiming/cancer/unidentified remains event.
an unfathomable amount of firefighters died because, despite being given a 21 minute warning that the building would collapse from a helicopter above specifically bc the NYPD hates the fire department
after the first tower had been hit, workers in tower 2 tried to flee and were told to go back to work by security guards and port authority
1000 remains are still unidenitfied
My sils bday is on 9/11 and I think that's subconsciously such a big reason I liked her at first

Let's not forget the thousands of people who die in mass shootings each year!!! But of course, that's just a sacrifice we have to make for our guns!!!!! /s
I'm honestly sick of this country constantly trying to play around like they're on the moral high ground. It's outrageous that someone who isn't American kills thousands of their people, but the moment it's done by their own hand, it's okay. Fuck that. If you gave a shit about their lives, you would actually be doing something to save them. You've always been willing to throw away the lives of others- COVID was just the thing that proved it.
