Walking into that room you were overseeing the worst possible possibilities that could possibly happen because of how long it had been you had actually played in a band, better yet you didn’t know anyone formally and the person you technically knew wasn’t someone you ever technically close with and ended on a ripped line so abruptly cutting and avoiding any contact whatsoever.
The air felt almost salty from the fog and mist from earlier’s rain since this part of the school had the most air conditioning. The janitor had forgotten to close the window down the hall as well so that left water droplets to spill out on to the floor and the smell of the wet plants from outside to leak in. It may be why there was so much rust on the doors.
And there he stood, so conveniently tuning his teal electric guitar right in front of the door, made eye contact with you the moment you walked through that door.
It had been some stolen glances in hallways or the cafeteria, but here you were to stay in the same room for a much longer period of time than just passing by each other and your stomach was churning at the thought of that.
Choi Beomgyu
You stood there for a moment scared to make any sudden wrong movement, as his eyes caught yours. Time seemed to have froze. And suddenly you were being rushed to those middle school memories of unexpected laughter and moments of fulfilment as you and the other members progressed as one band.
Your tongue stuck in your throat, you couldn't speak, you couldn't move, you couldn't bring yourself to.
Beomgyu's fingers were paused on the guitar strings, as he took in the sight of you and that he's about to play for you again after so many years. Experiencing a similar kind of rush as her without even knowing you were too. at Y/N with a mix of surprise and curiosity. The room suddenly felt smaller, and the air heavier-
It took you a moment since you had to undo the overwhelming energy that had taken over your body, but you snapped back to reality you felt Sunghoon place his hand on your lower back to help you step inside the classroom.
“Y/N, you’re here! I was afraid you wouldn’t show up.” A warm smile welcoming you into the room.
“Thanks for the vote of confidence,” you try to laugh off awkwardly, raising an eyebrow at him. To which San just scrunches his nose in return.
“No problem!” San says smiling at you before averting his attention to Sunghoon towering behind you. “aaand you brought a friend?" turning his head expectantly between you and Sunghoon.
"He's just dropping me off." you clarify. breathing in and laughing nervously.
"Ahh, I see. Well you're welcome to watch if you want to." San says
"No no, that's okay. I just wanted to make sure Y/N got here in one peace." he waves his hands dismissively, mustering his best smile, but you can tell he also seems a bit nervous.
“Y/N, I’m gonna go ahead and get to practice. You’ll call me?” Sunghoon asks as he places his hand on your shoulder backing out of the classroom.
“You’re more nervous than I am” You muse, raising a curious brow at him.
Sunghoon rolls his eyes and sneers at you. To which you have no issue in playfully returning it to him.
He hangs his head as he chuckles quietly before looking back up at you with an expression that almost looks like a proud one. "Have fun, noona" he smiles.
You’re taken aback by his sudden shift in demeanour that you settle for sticking out your tongue at him bashfully.
He waves before turning his back to you and heading off in his own direction.
"Alright,” San claps to get your attention again, and you jolt back in surprise.
You turn around wide eyes at the stature, and he laughs at your reaction.
“Let’s begin everyone shall we?” he says loud enough for everyone to hear but while looking at you with a welcoming smile. He offers his hand to you, to which you politely decline but he just smiles and respects your space. His hands in front of him as he leads you further inside of the band room til you're standing in front of the microphone stand.
“One of the boys will help you with the technical details, I’m no good in this department, so right now?” he says as he adjusting your mic to fit your height while you’re standing limply and awkwardly in front of it.
“All you gotta do is stand here and look pretty for a second.” he says a bit too cheery for your taste, but you take it as he’s a very accommodating person that way.
You figure the least you can is go along with whatever instructions he sets out for you and engage in his banter to the best of your ability.
“Give me a second!” He tells you to set your bag down beside the stand as runs over to a small looking audio mixer sitting atop of the desk shoved in the corner. It looks more cheaper than the one your middle school had provided for you all, but good enough that it won’t screw up the sounds.
It looks like they had to be the ones to purchase the piece as the school doesn’t really seem to be too involved in the Band.
Setting your bag down, you take a deep breath in and out as your shoulders rise and fall along with your breathing. You try and get comfortable by putting a hand on the mic, but you swat it away quickly, letting your arm fall limply at your side, you didn’t notice right away, but you can definitely tell now that your nerves had built up.
All you feel right now is extremely out of place.
Is your hand shaking? Oh gosh, are you nervous? Oh my gosh, you’re nervous!
“Y/N?” you hear someone call out to you from beside you, you look up to find a familiar face, Kang Yeosang.
“Hey” he says with a small yet warm smile, taking the microphone from the stand and handing it to you.
“Hi,” you say as you hold up the microphone in your hands and offer him a grateful smile in return, your gaze switching between the mic and him. “Thanks”
“No problemo, and we’re just in the middle of soundcheck right now, sorry for the wait.” he says.
“Oh no that’s okay, take your time, we did this back then too, except with Chaer and them.” you say as your readjust your posture.
He smiles fondly at the mention of your old bandmates, “Yeah we did,” he says while looking down at his feet, his hands clasped in front of him.
“It’s good to have you back Y/N, a lot of people missed your voice.”
You’re looking down at the microphone in your hand then back at him, “A lot of people including you?” you nudge his shoulder.
He turns over to you with a knowing look in his eyes, “possibly.”
“Hey…” you drawl, “you gotta be nice, I’m nervous as hell right now.”
“Don’t be,” he says curtly and you furrow your brows at him in confusion.
“I meant that comfortingly, don’t be because we asked for you to be here. Imagine how crappy it would be if we called you here only to treat you like trash, not very cool.”
“Well you’re here so I don’t know how much lower we can get” you state with much more confidence.
“Hey!” he exclaims. “You said be nice”
You shrug nonchalantly, “Changed my mind.”
He looks at you with a hurt expression before he’s rolling his eyes, to which you giggle at.
“Hey, let’s begin shall we?” San says as he’s already made it behind you and Yeosang to your right.
You and Yeosang exchange glances as he excuses himself back to his Piano and you’re left alone with the microphone in your hand.
Your nerves seemed to have dissipated in the time you and Yeosang had been chatting and your grateful that you were familiar with someone else aside from Beomgyu, otherwise this would probably be more nerve wracking as you’d hoped it’d be.
You say a few ahs to test the microphone before you hear Beomgyu saying that we’re starting off with the song by Paramore, to which you had practiced with Jungwon over facetime last night over and over again until your grandpa went into your room and begged you to let him sleep.
“You ready Y/N?” you hear Beomgyu say to you suddenly. You’re reluctant to do so, but you turn your head to face him, an expectant expression on his face.
You nod sheepishly in return, turning back to your gaze you breathe in and out one last time.
“I’m ready.”

fuck. thats what you thought, choi yeonjun hasn’t been in your apartment in what? 4 years? hes drunk and heavy, i mean seriously it took at least more than 40 minutes to drag him here. well there’s certainly nothing you can do now, so here he sits in your living room completely wasted. blabbering about something you can’t interpret. “yeonjun are you hungry?”
he shakes his head slowly, “m-m no” sighing you walk over from the kitchen to sit next to him. “yeonjun you have two options” you say putting your index finger in the air. “one, being to eat or-” putting your middle finger up, “two, go throw up all that alcohol in you.” you get up, clapping your hands together, “so what it’d be?”
he lifts his head to look at you, “y/nnnn i really don’t wanna do that”
downturned eyes glistening with the dim living room light and an apparent pout on his lips thats making you giggle. he smiles and rubs his eyes to look at you a bit more clearly. “hey~ why are you laughing?”
he looks really pretty.
“nothing, you have to eat. come on” you help him get up from the couch, leading him to your kitchen and sitting him down on one of the island stools. “now me, a master chef will make you anything you want.” you take a bow but cant stop yourself from laughing, “at your service”
he laughs, “you know, you’re really cool y/n. i messed up a-and i’ve missed you… i-m sorry..” mid apology his voice started shaking and you could see tears forming in his eyes.
you rushed to comfort him, “hey, hey, no don’t cry. i was hurt before yes but im better and im glad we’re together again. i’ve missed you a whole lot too yeonjun”
he looks up with more tears though not of sadness this time. “r-really?”
“of course jun”
you spoke softly with a smile. if only you knew how pretty you looked right now. he always thought that, not only in looks but truly just pretty. if he had to explain this it would probably be it’s your manner and the way you talk so confidently. it’s nothing like four years ago.. you’ve changed, a good change.
“now, what do you want to eat?”
“mmm pizza” yeonjun said with a big cute smile like you could easily just wip up a pizza. letting out a laugh you say, “i know said i was a chef but thats not on the menu, i can order it?” he nods like an excited little kid, “yes please”
twenty minutes pass when the pizza delivery arrives, you tip the delivery man and bring the pizza over to the kitchen. “i know you’re not a fan of pineapple pizza but i got half of that for me” he looks up at you in disgust. ”thats gross” you click your tongue, opening the box to hand him one of his slices “just eat the pizza”
he smiles before taking a bite, “thank you, for taking care of me.”

you left to the bathroom for a moment and come back to see yeonjun’s upper body on the marble island and his head resting down on his arms. “you awake?” you ask but no response.
sighing you gently get him up and into your room, plopping him down onto your bed. “you’re lucky you have such a good friend like me” you whisper while fixing the sheets on top of him.
once you’re done tucking him in you smile and wish him goodnight, turning to leave the room- “y/n, stay for a bit please.” he mumbles. your eyes widen at his speech angrily whispering, “you scared me, i thought you were asleep”
he lowly chuckles, “please stay”
you walk back over to sit down on the floor, resting your head down on the bed. “okay, just for a while” yeonjun nods before slowly drifting of to sleep.
never you’d imagined something like this. him in your room and looking at him while he’s peaceful asleep. you’d be lying if you said you weren’t admiring him, looking at his features and reminiscing about old memories you have in this apartment. him helping you move in and hosting the best house warming party. the next day having to drop him off at his dorm because of how drunk he got. always such a lightweight. still, it saddens you to think about how your relationship ended. thinking how stupid it was. if it were to happen now instead of then you wouldn’t have given up on him that easily. you still blame yourself for that. “giving up” though you didn’t really, it feels like you did.
moments pass and you begin getting up from the floor wishing him a goodnight once again as you close the bedroom door, making your way to the couch for the night.

morning comes and hungover yeonjun is awakening and- shit he had a massive headache. where was he?
dark green sheets..?
he slowly sits up and begins to recall last nights events and where he currently was.
holy shit y/n. is she awake? do i check?
he gets up fully and slightly opens the bedroom door to see you asleep on the couch.
thank god she’s asleep, do i leave and not come back? fuck, no im not an complete asshole.
yeonjun sits back down on the bed contemplating what he should do in this situation, completely embarrassed of his actions from last night.
oh god… did i really cry? whatever, im starving. OH! i could make breakfast? no im not that great at cooking, ill just go buy something.
she has sticky notes on her desk.. that should work right?
yeonjun quickly gets his things, puts on his shoes and opens the apartment door to leave. shoot can’t forget this before sticking the note to the fridge.

waking up you go to knock on your bedroom door, “yeonjun you awake?” no reply.. why am i knocking? its my room..? “im going in okay?” you slowly open the door to see messy sheets and yeonjun no where to be found.
what the fuck??? did he leave??
you leave the room and start pacing the living room thinking of possible reasons as to why he left.
what if he thought it was weird and left? or maybe he doesn’t remember anything and thought we… oh my-
turning around you notice yellow square on your fridge, a sticky note? that definitely wasn’t there.. you read the note and you’re smiling, why are you smiling? so he left to get you breakfast..? cute

you get your phone from the couch to look at its recent notification, smiling once again seeing it’s from yeonjun.
yeonjun: idk if you’re up but im bringing muffins, ik banana nut is your favorite :)
