the one that got away.

03:13 AM.
ha, 3:13. “beomgyu o’clock” as you used to call it.
“look, beom. it’s your time.” you’d say as you point to the alarm clock on his nightstand.
the same nightstand & the same alarm clock that his tired eyes were glued to.
it had been three days since he had gotten some sleep. three days since he had something to look forward to waking up to in the morning.
three days since you left him.
so he lay there, staring at that damn alarm clock, wishing the time would just stop. wishing that time would go backwards.
wishing that he could be with you again.
“you don’t have to miss me,” you would say before you left for work every morning. “i’ll be back before you know it.”
but this time when you left, you didn’t come back.
he lets out a breath and moves the comforter off of his weak, tired body and gets out of bed, stepping into his slippers that sit below the mattress.
the slippers that you got him.
“they look like little bear paws,” you told him as you hold the slippers with bright eyes. “they suit you so well!”
he sighs, wondering what went wrong.
what made you feel that way?
was it something he did? something he said?
he wished you had left a note.
he wished you had talked to him.
but most of all, he wished you had just stayed.
a shaky, weak hand turns the knob and pulls open the door to the bathroom.
a groggy, weak body pulls itself to enter said bathroom.
he hadn’t eaten in days and he hadn’t wandered any part of the house that wasn’t the bedroom or the bathroom.
he didn’t want to go anywhere else where he could be reminded of you.
but all he knew was you.
all he wanted to know was you.
and all he wanted was for you to by his side once again.
staring into the mirror that hang above the sink, he studies his state. unbrushed hair, eye bags the size of small coins, dried up salty tears on both cheeks from all the hours he had spent crying.
he’d still be crying if he hadn’t ran out of tears.
“don’t cry, beomgyu,” you would tell him if you were there. you hated seeing him cry. “it’ll all be okay.”
but it wouldn’t be okay.
it would never be okay.
until he could be with you again.
and he knew that he would be soon.
xx

There they were together once more. Well, this was nothing new, the surprise of the situation was the two of them together on a variety show. Well, they weren't exactly on the show yet, as it was only scheduled to start in a few hours, but still…
The moment they realized that their relationship was moving towards a more serious side, they both talked and decided that it was better to communicate to both groups and the companies as well, so they would have greater security in case any media vehicle explains something. And because of that, their managers started to do everything to not let the two meet, but clearly there was a mistake.
As soon as her cell phone flashed on top of the coffee table, indicating that she had received a notification, her eyes lit up when she saw it was coming from her…future boyfriend. He was in a white studio, next to a door, and for a few seconds you let your eyes study how even wearing just his typical jeans and a boring shirt, he was still the most handsome man God's eyes have ever seen. But he was leaning against the wall, looking at something to the side, his eyes then focused on the sheet. It was the name of their group.
"No way!" you say before getting up, clearly in shock, and startling your colleagues in the process, with your sudden act. Rushing to the door, you open it without hesitation, and find him standing there grinning big. “Yeonjunie!” The two smile silly hugging each other tightly.
A clearing of the throat next to you reminds you that you are too much in public to be hugging each other so intimately. "Okay, I know a place..." the brunette says smiling and taking her hand. The two walk side by side, trying to hide their excitement and hide their complicit looks. When they arrive at an empty room, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the guy, who shrugs smiling “namjoon hyung told me here when the company found out” the guy doesn't give you a chance to retort, pulling you and entering the place, closing the door afterwards.
"What are the possibilities..." his voice is low once he's next to you, pinning you to the wall with his body, hands on your face.
You then stop to pay attention to the beauty present in your boyfriend's face, his big and expressive eyes, the shape of his eyebrows, the perfect shape of his nose, and his perfect lips. Yeonjun didn't let his act go unnoticed, and smirked, noticing how he lingered watching his mouth.
“Do they know what they did?” his voice came out low, as he tried to focus on something else, so he tried to focus again on her eyes, finding a glint in them.
“Does it bother you to be with me on television?” he was teasing you, and you knew it, but you believed that if you kept talking, you wouldn't fall so easily into his charms. Yeonjun draws even closer to you, and her scent starts to confuse your senses.
“Of course not,” you start, but the guy takes one of his fingers to his chin tilting his head a little more towards you, “but you know we're going to have to behave ourselves...”
"Behave?" the smile that appeared in the corner of the brunette's perfect lips made you realize that you were exactly where he wanted to be, and he wasn't going to win this little game of his. “Yeah, you know, without... without getting too close...” you start off trying to be rational, forcing your voice to keep its normal tone, but the smile Choi wore was helping to distract you.
“Like how are we now?” he jokes, and you, without paying much attention, just confirm it before continuing to speak: “and... without... touching...” the brunette gets even closer, to what was already believed to be humanly possible, passing one by one. her arms around her waist, causing the air in her lungs to fail.
"Like that?" he goes on with his little game, and you know you lost a long time ago, but you're not sure if winning would be a good strategy.
Even trying to focus on the big and (useless) mission that the two should follow for the day in front of the cameras and evil presenters, but the perfume, the perfect hands and the lips of Choi Yeonjun, her amazing, attentive and attractive boyfriend started to make you feel to confuse.
"and also...we won't be able to...kiss..."
The man in front of you stoops low enough to have his face level with yours, both noses touching. Yeonjun then leans in even closer, his hand caressing your cheek, their breaths mingling, his hot mint breath lightly hitting you. A little more and their lips touched...
“Then we better start now”
When he opens his eyes the boy has his body away from his, a mischievous smile from the corner of his mouth, and one eyebrow raised, and he can't help but find it adorable, the way he almost fell forward, his brows furrowed and his mouth pouted disappointed with what he'd done.
“Yeonjun-ah!”
If you ask, no, Yeonjun didn't feel the least bit bad about doing that, and even kept teasing you covertly during the recordings. But just as everything turned off and you were about to leave (still clearly not happy with what would have happened), when the brunette pulled you by surprise into the same room, putting you against the same wall, holding you in the same way as before, but this time giving you a kiss that made you practically lose track of reality.

Fboy!Taehyun x Nerd-ish!Reader
Content: angst, smut (um..... maybe) ,fluff
A/N: so um.... This is my first fic and I feel really nervous but yeah. Hope you enjoy and please support me❤️.
"Come on, just this once can't you agree to come with me?" Taehyun says a bit too desperately while following you down the hallway.
This is the hundredth time you've rejected him but he won't stop. You stopped your tracks and sighed turning around to look at him "Look, I'm not a fan of parties okay? Besides there are plenty of girls waiting to be asked. I'm not interested."
" Please.... just this once?." He pleaded with a glint of hope in his eyes. You know he won't stop until you agree. He was a fuckboy, of course you were sure he was going to use you .
But it won't hurt saying yes to him right?
"Fine" you agreed while sighing . "What time is the party starting?" You asked him while standing outside the campus trying to resist the urge to take your fingers through his silky looking hair
"At 7 so be ready I'll pick you up" he said with a hint of excitement in his voice "I'm leaving, see you at 7" you said while walking away heading to your apartment just near by the campus so it was only a ten minute walk from there.
Time Skip........
It was actually alot harder than you thought picking out an outfit for the party and to be honest you were quite nervous going to the party.
You were wondering what would happen if you went to the party with Taehyun . What would people think , that you're one of his toys?
You decided to go with a simple flared sky blue dress with a denim jacket and white sneakers (I'm sorry I don't know what the hell I'm doing 😭)
After a few minutes you heard a knock on your door and was not surprised to see Taehyung but he looked ...hot.
"hey.." He broke the silence and he leaned against the door frame while somehow hovering over you with an intense stare.
"h-hi" you stuttered, cursing yourself because you were nervous. "You look beautiful " he complemented you but this time he didn't smirk and he had a genuine smile .
Almost as if he was trying to tell you something but what was it
Your heart skipped a beat and you could sense the tension between the both of you .
"Shall we? " Taehyun said while he held out his hand for you and you hesitated but gave in anyway. When you reached his car he opened the door for you and he went to his seat afterwards.
The car ride was silent apart from the radio on. You turned to face him while studying his features while enjoying the silence but it wasn't awkward, it was..... actually comforting.
"You can take a photo,it will last longer " he said while smirking . You scoffed " Why would I? " You said as you two reached the frat house, hearing loud music a looking at some couple making out at the door. "Because...." he stared at you while leaning in and leaving a small distance between your faces "You like me ... don't you?"
You got flustered and cleared your throat " We should um.....go inside" you told him without sparing him a glance
When you entered with Taehyun you were immediately hit with the stench of cigarettes and beer and not gonna lie but the place smelt horrible . "Taehyun wassup my bro !!" A tall guy appeared with a red solo cup in his hand while he came closer and shook Taehyun's hand .
"Hey , you must be Y/N" he said "And you must be....." You trailed off waiting for him to tell you his name "I'm Yeonjun" he said while handing out his hand for you to shake. "I'll go get us some drinks, what would you like?" He asked "Just some grape juice will be fine" you told him. "I'll be back in a few" he said looking at him get lost in the crowd while you remained with Yeonjun.
"You're Taehyun's girlfriend right" Yeonjun asked , curiosity lingered in his voice." Oh um....no I'm just .... a friend?" You said while questioning yourself . But what were you to him a toy? friend? girlfriend?
Before you could justify your answer Taehyun came back with two drinks in his hands " You're not taking alcohol?" You asked him while said a small thanks to him "No I'm actually going to drive so I need to be sober"
"Oh....I see" you said while trying to find anything else other than standing there awkwardly with him. "Hey Taehyun come play beer pong with us!" Yeonjun yelled " sure!" Taehyun yelled back. "I'll be back " he said while facing you and he left.
You went to the the kitchen and sat on one of the stools "Hey there" you heard someone say behind you. You turned around to face the owner of the voice. "Hi" you said while smiling at him "Do you remember me?" He asked you "Um ..... I think so" you said "I'm Heeseung from class" he said hoping you remember him. " Ohhhhh ... Heeseung I'm sorry I couldn't really recognize you for a bit ,you sit behind me right" you questioned him " yeah."
From Taehyun's view he saw Heeseung flirting with you . You were laughing with him while hitting his arm . He doesn't deserve to see your beautiful smile. He went over to you and Heeseung and before you knew it you were being grabbed and found yourself upstairs in a room . "What the hell Taehyun what is wrong wi-" " Do you like him" he interrupted " no he's my classmate" you said while he stook a few steps near you until your back hit the door "good" was all he said until he pressed his lips on yours.
His lips were sweet and soft like strawberries
He leaned back and he pressed his forehead against yours while he his hands were on your waist " Fuck.... I'm sorry I couldn't help-" this time you kissed him while finding your fingers through his hair. "Shut up and just kiss me" you mumbled on his lips
He lifted you up, signaling you to wrap your legs around his waist as he led you to the bed "Shit, baby you just don't know what you've done to me" he said as you stared at his dark eyes screaming out lust.
He trailed kisses along your neck until he found your sensitive spot "mmh" you hummed while trying to find relief for the problem between your legs . You switched positions with you on top of him while grinding against his hard on "Fuck..... baby stop" Taehyung said while his hands were on your waist to still your movements.
He flipped you two again and he removed his shirt . You quietly admired his toned body while moving your hand to slide it down his abs. "What do you want me to do" he asked while liking his lips " I-I want you to..." You looked away but be forced you to look at him " No no no , baby look at me go on what you do you want me to do" He said while waiting for your answer " I want you to -fuck- to eat me out" you told him .
You removed your dress and unhooked your bra so you only had your underwear on. He leaned forward to kiss you hungrily. Taehyun dipped his head low so that he could suck your right nipple . "Oh ... Mmh fuck!" You moaned while pulling his hair as he pinched your another nipples to give it the same attention. " S-shit I need y-you now please" you begged him and he gladly listened and pulled you panties down while seductively looking at you "aww is my baby wet" you eagerly nodded your head but he wasn't happy with the answer " Baby use your words" " Yes I'm sorry wet for you and only you" you said as he stared at your glistening cunt and he kissed your clit. "Please fuck me" you said but he looked at you and just said " baby I'll fuck you later, daddy first has to have his meal." He said as he licked his lips
This was going to be a long night.....

Listen Now!

why am i awake? i look down at my dangling feet and notice there’s loose nails on the floor and the strange taste of rum and soot on my tongue. the floor creaks under my feet as i approach my mirror. it’s dirty, and all i see is skin, underwear, a stained shirt and slippers. my day will go silent with nobody to think about but myself. people knew me, but they don’t know me. and i hope nobody who did comes back.
at least the apartments clean. i took all of sunday scrubbing each and every nook and cranny to make it sparkling. i knew how to hide or clean my own traces too well, and as i poor the cold caffeine into the tin sink i shake the thoughts away. another drug to get addicted to. everyday i felt myself fading but felt the scars worsening. literally. after showers and getting changed there was always the long vertical scar haunting my peripheral vision and more on my arms and legs as well, probably plenty in my lungs and stomach as well. glancing at the dimly light clock i’m surprised that i’ve been able to wake up and stay up at 12:14. why am i awake? suddenly, a creep of suspicion erupts in the depths of myself and i stay still. the curtains in the living room sway in the midnight breeze, but it’s not quiet enough. slowly, i turn around a grab the biggest knife from the knife block and wait.
“here’s your coffee, m'lady,” kai winked at me as I accepted the warm caffeine. only a second ago, kai and beomgyu were hitting and grunting at the old coffee machine, before cheering when it finally spurt out the brown liquid. just as i took my first sip, yeonjun emerged from the steam filled bathroom, aggresively drying his hair with a blue towel. he was wearing a white tank top and red sweat pants, a regular outfit for the man. at this point, yeonjun and i were just friends, atleast to the others. but the unspoken likeness, the glances, the nearly telepathic connection, jokes and touches that went between us spoke otherwise. he smiled at me as i peered at him over my mug. “ew, can you guys like stop,” kai commented, bringing me out of the staring contest. my cheeks go rose tinted before i down the last gulp, stomach aching in the motion. the machine worked, but only for so long. “this stupid thing.” “having trouble again?” i watched him and his muscles smack the machine, and in only one hit it was working. that was his specialty, making things work out when it doesn’t. he glanced at me, probably picking up that i was in pain again, before heading to his and taehyun, my brother’s, room. my brother and my secret lover were roomed for all of our teenage years and it sucked. everything sucked. my stomach ached and scarred every other week, my ribs felt like they were knifing at my lungs every breath in. but it was expected seeing as what my ‘job’ was. everyone hurt. "i wish i could fix your injuries like i fix everything.” “you can kiss them better, if you’d like?”
there’s a knock and a rip of dread topples down onto me and my shoulders. i can’t let that effect me too much if i’m about to send away the person i loved the most. slowly i creep up to the door and peer through the peephole. in all of his glory, yeonjun is tirelessly waiting for my arrival. his hairs barely blue now, his natural dark brown over taking the dye perfectly. there’s a new scar on his nose, and his skin still seems rough. he’s in a white tank top and red sweatpants. he still looks good.
“go away.” i warn through the door, his eyes light up in desperation and he suddenly attaches himself to the door.
“y/n? is that you?” i can’t see much now that he’s blocking a majority of the peep hole, but i can hear uncut nails grasping at the doorknob. it felt wrong only being a door away from him. i look at the knife in my hands and twist it in my grasp. “i said go away.”
“y/n, we need to talk- everything’s going wrong. please.” he plants his forehead just above the peep hole. there’s bags under his eyes, and his lips are chapped. i know i’ll regret it, but i sigh and open the door, but only enough so the dim illumination from the hallway creates a sliver of light in my entryway. he looks at me immediately and smiles, before i shove it open completely and hastily. i seemed to have gotten angry at myself, and him, so i advance forward.
yeonjun stumbles and backs away immediately, holding his hands up with a shocked expression, a hint of relief in his eyes. he’s pinned against the wall now and the knife in my hand is dangerously close to his throat, his adam’s apple scraps it in a gulp. i’m sure i don’t look the best as it’s the middle of the night and the only thing i have on is a baggy shirt and slippers, but his eyes wander over me anyways. i beg we don’t wake up my neighbours.
“y/n. it’s you.”
it was another drinking night and the boys had decided to play 7 minutes of truth. a spin off to 7 minutes in heaven and truth or dare. and yeonjun was the only one i hadn’t done it with, so obviously i chose him to spend 7 minutes with spilling our truths. we retreated to my room while the rest drank and laughed waiting for us. i sat on my bed and smiled at him, the dim light in the middle of the ceiling lighting us was just enough to see each other. he sits beside me, both of our legs hanging off the side of the single bed. “so. spill.”
“really? no foreplay or anything?” he chuckled making me smile. whenever he was happy i was happy.
“foreplay? come on choi. i think we both know i don’t do that.” he laughed again.
“but there’s nothing you don’t know about me… except one thing.” he smirked and i inched closer as if he was going to tell me a life changing secret. he was going to, but i didn’t know it at the time. “i like someone.” i was taken aback, nearly laughing. i liked him then, a lot, but acting clueless and innocent was better than showing jealousy. he tilted his head and the odd action made me ‘cluelessly’ ask who it is. “are you being serious? y/n. it’s you.”
“how did you find me?” i practically wipe the smile off his face when i press the knife onto his neck with increasing pressure.
“well i’ve known that you live here for a while but i was scared that this would happen-“
“you knew?? how??”
“uh- i posed as an officer and asked every landlord in the area who the tenants were-“
“but how did you know i was here”
“you can’t be the only one angry okay? it’s the first time i’ve seen you in a year and you’ve got a knife to my neck.” he complains through gritted teeth, but lets out a sigh when i place the knife back at my side. “thank you.”
to be honest, it was relieving. someone had finally found me and it wasn’t a nobody, but him. every night since i started working for my brother and his gang, i had nightmares. and every night after i told yeonjun about them, he helped me fall asleep. every injury i had to endure was only as half as bad as they were when he was around. but after i left, my nights were fuelled with terrors and pain. and seeing him again made me pain free yet paralysed. he put me in danger and fixed it after. that’s what hyuka told me. but i would never tell yeonjun that he said that to me, or that i believed it.
“leave.” i warn once more, backing away to retreat back to my apartment. a small wave of tears creep up into my eyes before yeonjun grabs my wrist and pulls me back. immediately i wrench it back and give him a glare that he’s probably all too familiar with, my hair falls into one of my eyes. “i said leave. i don’t need you.”
“don’t you? look at your apartment.” he nodded over your shoulder, rubbing the front of his neck. i know what he means. the floorboards are lifting and sinking, there’s little to no furniture and none of the doors inside the apartment have locks, just a hole in place of where a doorknob would be. the ceilings are dripping into some buckets i’ve placed down, and i realise no matter how hard i scrub this place will always be a shithole. i take a moment to collect myself before i start crying, yelling, or even worse, start saying i’m sorry. only now do i notice the messiness of his hair and red red of his eyes. he scrunches his nose only for a second and i can only assume it’s because of his stressed posture mixing with an injury. i don’t feel bad.
“why couldn’t you leave me alone to live my life?” i sigh, lowering my voice and shrugging as much anxiety as i could off my shoulder. “the one i’m living right now is much better than gang wars, drinking every night and risking my life for drugs and money. i don’t know if you’ve noticed,” i point at his obviously wrapped stomach under his tank, “but it’s too dangerous to consider it for a living.”
he sighs, thinking about what to say. “because i can’t live without you. y/n, you were my whole life. the reason i did what we did. and i can confidently say that you felt the same. or at least i thought you did, before you left all of us to rot.”
his harsh words trigger me enough for one tear to fall, but it wasn’t for sadness, but for anger.
“why couldn’t you just forget me? why couldn’t you just erase me?”
“because you’re you! you’re not a memory, y/n. i can’t just get rid of you like that. that’s the case for everyone. beomgyu, hyuka, even soobin misses you. not to mention your brother.”
taehyun. the day i left, yeonjun and taehyun were the last to see me. blazes of fire taller than a house crashed around us as they tried to catch up to me. i was always faster than them, but they were nearly catching up to me then. my name was echoed, yeonjuns scream filled with wet anger, taehyuns flat and dry. yeonjun thought i would come back, but taehyun knew. he knew i was finally scared enough to wake up.
“why should i care what he feels. he let me run. you did to.”
“you let yourself run! you ran with no reason—“
“no reason!? you know damn well that i had finally woken up to myself, that i finally knew that if i stayed i would die. i was already in the ER every other month.”
he tries to advance forward and past me, as if inviting himself into my apartment but i cut him short and push him further away, he nearly slams again the hallway wall and he winces. i can see the outline of bandages around his waist under his tight tank, but the usual guilt, pity or empathy that would’ve shown a year ago disappears. yeonjun looks at me as if i’m a monster, like he was surprised.
“i felt in danger every second i was with you guys. i was afraid the times i went to visit my sister that it would be the last. that i could be taking my last steps, thoughts, actions and breaths at any moment. yes, yeonjun, you made me feel alive but that doesn’t change the fact i could’ve died at any given moment. cleaning up after your dirty jobs was sickening and shameful and every time i have a nightmare about soobin or beomgyu getting kidnapped again i feel dirty. i wake up and take hour long showers just to try and forget. to try and forget everything! you included.”
he’s silent for a moment before my neighbour emerges, shushing us with a smoke in his mouth.
reluctantly i pull him into the apartment. but just because the location has changed doesn’t mean my anger has, neither my tears.
i doubt myself, “i’ve said to much-“ and yeonjun doesn’t even let me lock my door before he starts arguing with me again.
“so you never even thought of coming back? never thought of wanting us, again?”
“i knew i’d crash i didn’t let you go. i loved you yeonjun,” he winces at my words, “i never loved what we did.”
and he’s silent.
he seems to finally understand me just like he used to. he’s now sat on my couch as i stand in front of him with my arms crossed. the curtains are still dancing and the floors still creak, the ceiling still drips. the only difference is that my present has now crossed paths with my past. he’s biting on the inside of his cheek as he stays lost in thought, before quickly leaning on his knees and rubbing his eyes. i don’t let my vision leave him, and not because of what he’s wearing but because i’m afraid he’ll pull some shit out of his ass and call it an apology.
“you’re still beautiful.” the compliment is sudden but real, i can hear it in his voice but i don’t reply straight away. “i mean it.”
“i know you do. and trust me when i say i mean this as well, you sitting on my couch is not an invitation for an apology or conversation. you’ll leave after the smell of smoke is gone from the vents. i’m not talking to you anymore.”
he stares up at me. disappointment, sadness, love. too many emotions mix with his irises to count.
“then i’ll talk to you. just so you know, taehyun is drinking 24/7, kai’s locked himself in his room, soobin has gotten us into trouble which has led to beomgyu going missing, again. to be honest, i’ve been thinking he’s come to you seeing as you were close. but now i know he hasn’t. maybe he was smarter than me and knew you wanted nothing to do with us.” i nod and he bits his lip, “and we’ve gotten threats. blackmail. and… the people threatening us don’t seem to know you’ve been gone for a year. they know shit about you as well. i came here to see you but also to protect you, warn you. but also, to ask you to come back. now i know that’s stupid but you’re the only one who could bring us back seeing as you’re the one who broke us apart. i’ll protect you. if i can. huening kai’s still depressed, keeps saying he’s the reason you left, so i’ll probably have to take his jobs. but you don’t have to fight, you can just clean up after us or- we could keep you at home and you could talk to us through the ear pieces instead of beomgyu since he’s missing or-… basically what i’m saying is that, we… i, need your help.” his eyes plead, he stands up and comes close to me, and his words seem desperate, truthful. he’s warm and nervous. his hands twitch to hold me.
and suddenly, i feel bad.

HOW DARE YOU JUST END IT LIKE THAT >:(

Listen Now!

the inside of my lip is spongey and sore now that i’ve been chewing on it for the past 5 minutes. yeonjun is ducked under and slouching down to talk to the reception lady. she’s grumbling about the time of morning, and yeonjun is wincing because of his injury, and he ought to know that i think we’re one and the same. 12:56.
it’s cold in the reception area, and my slippers do nothing but squeak as i shift side to side, waiting for the man i hate most to receive a room key in my own apartment building. his hair hass fallen into his eyes again as he glances at me, but i quickly avoid him, pretending to amuse myself with the brochures advertised on the wall beside me. i don’t even know why i came with him. a little bit of me thought that he’d leave if i didn’t.
he approaches slowly and i only now notice that hes wearing slippers like mine, but newer and with less wears and tears. his voice is like stinging ice when he talks. “the only room free is room 10, just down the hall from you.”
he’d stay in his own room, because god forbid i have him in my own apartment for another minute, and we’d leave in the morning. hopefully in the 5 hours i had left of the night i would convince myself not to leave with him. i felt terribly guilty, but i was doing fine here. i hoped i’d say goodbye, maybe write a note to the others - even when i knew beomgyu couldn’t read it. but a pit of what felt like dead leaves in my stomach was telling me to go and i didn’t want to trust them.
“i don’t trust you.” beomgyu was trying to persuade me as always, just like how we would trade snacks in kindergarten. “how do i know you’ll actually let me win?”
“cross my heart hope to die. you don’t even have to give me the full chocolate bar, just, like, half?” he shrugged, grabby hands coming closer to my precious food. soobin and kai had their turns on the nintendo while beomgyu and i were in the barely clean kitchen. i huffed and glared at him suspiciously.
“you let me win, and, i get to cut your hair.” i smirk and he immediately shakes his head. his accessorised hands grab his hair as if to protect it. it was hanging well over his eyes, tangled and unwashed. there were diy bleached strands oddly distributed and random bobby pins he stole from my bathroom shelf to hold it back.
“no! never!”
“oh come on, how are you supposed to navigate us through vents when you can’t even see?”
“hair bands?” he looks funnily serious, eyes pleading like a puppy.
“here, have the bar. i’m tired of fighting anyways.” it was a playful interaction but we both knew he really needed it, even if it wasn’t the healthiest thing to choose from. his own body weight relied on the muscle he gained, none of it coming from fat. because he stayed in for missions, he had less time to scavenge for more food. and even though we had enough food in the house for the odd meals and maybe a snack, he barely ate. but i don’t think he could help it, and i never liked it.
yeonjun told me goodnight, and i closed my door without another word. i look around my apartment again. still dripping, still creaking, still disgusting. a part of me realised a long time ago that even if i scrub the apartment to perfection, the ‘perfection’ will never be perfect. taehyun always reminded me of that. that nothing, no one, is perfect, but i always wanted it to be despite my brothers words. we didn’t talk much, and i guess through the years nothing changed even when i joined his gang. yet he knew everything. what i was thinking, what i was feeling, my next move. that’s why he didn’t chase after or beg for me to come back when i ran. he would’ve done the same, i know it. i grab at the basketball shorts i had put on before going to reception, and take a pulsating breath. i wanted to cry so bad. i wanted the tears to leak and fall and pool at the bottom of my feet, drip down to the soil and create a grave for me, until i couldn’t cry anymore. but the walls are thin, and the vents let sounds through.
i could’ve gotten more sleep, but i was busy contemplating if i should stay here, in an overly expensive apartment with a minimum wage job despite my age, or go with yeonjun, where i’d see the people i love and making a living out of risk. i was contemplating what future i should pick, and it was weighing me down.
he told me he’d be at my door waiting by 6. and i decided i’d join him by 5:47.

dejavu ghosted me as i heard a knock at the door and tip down coffee down my sink. for some reason i look around my apartment as if it’s the last time i’ll see it, before looking down at myself. i didn’t have much better clothes than this, a nearly worn out shirt and baggy shorts, but at least i was wearing closed in shoes now. i don’t worry about bringing much, because i know i’ll end up the same with or without all my sentimental items.
i bring a backpack with a couple essentials, under wear, toothbrush, pain meds, etc. my phone shows me the time, and i open the door.
he looks barely rested, and the bags under his eyes tell me he was stressing all night - we’re the same.
“ready?” is all he says before i walk out and before him, biting my lips as i start our trip down the stairs and out the apartment. the receptionist isn’t there, probably sleeping in due to the blue haired boys antics earlier this morning, so i put my apartment keys on the counter. i don’t mind it they get taken.
the train station is only a walk away, and i spent half of it reprimanding myself. why was i awake? why was i walking to the train station? why was he here? i don’t miss them.
i seemed to slow down in my self deprecating thoughts, or i forgot how fast a walker yeonjun is, but either way i’m surprised when his mich taller body is beside mine. i don’t know where it came from, but he had a bag as well. it was much less stuffed than mine and looked like it only had a clothes and maybe a toothbrush in it. he never did keep a lot, physical objects that is. he lied a lot, though. even when he didn’t mean it.
“you said they were gone!”
“i thought they were! and i warned you through the earpiece!”
yeonjun crossed both arms over his chest, iconic white tank showing off his biceps in the movement. the cut on your arm and stomach spoke otherwise, and my teeth clenched as i stepped up to him.
“you warned me that someone was in the hallway. not coming into the room. also!, you told me i could handle the job when you knew i was going to puke when i stepped into that room.”
“but you didn’t?!”
“i didnt because i was already caught before i could.”
“well it was either you vomit and clean that up with the rest of the mess or-“
“or you clean it up yourself?” i lost my temper and pushed him a little, he raised his arms in a surrender stance even though he was not backing down.
“you were already there and if i stayed to clean we wouldn’t be alive right now.”
“maybe if you stayed to clean you could’ve saved me from that fucking guard!”
i knew the others were listening through the door, taehyun probably more annoyed we had locked ourselves in his and yeonjuns shared room than because we were fighting. yeonjun says under his breath,
“god you’re so sensitive,”
“huh? speak up, you know i hate when you mumble, say it to my face you son of a-“
there was a knocking before my brothers voice cut through the aggression like a chainsaw.
“can yous stop? we want to sleep. the missions over, we got our reward. now open the fucking door!” another bang shook the door.
i left without another word and ran to my room.
a sigh comes from his rose painted lips as the morning sun beams down at us. the sky’s half orange and blue, and luckily we were walking towards the darker side of town. he sighs again.
“what.”
he smirks, “i forgot you don’t like mornings.”
i ignore him. my gut tells me he’s trying to get me to forgive him by recalling all the things i shared with him, all the things he learnt about me. he didn’t know everything though, because if he did he’d know how to break my heart in two. but i guess he knew enough to break it anyways.
“um. i feel bad for asking but, do you have money for your train ticket?.. and mine?.” he has guilt and hesitance laced in his voice. i look up at him, badly cut hair falling off my cheekbones.
“are you that broke?” when he just looks down i feel my own guilt build up. i don’t say sorry though, instead, “yeah. i have enough.”
we wait on cold steel seats for the train. theres gloomy lighting over head and it nearly lulls me to sleep once again. a huge chunk of me is screaming to run away again, just like i did a year ago, and a smaller chunk is telling me it was the right decision. somehow the smaller piece was out weighing the larger one. i rub my eyes for the fifth time that sitting, and sigh quietly to myself, questioning my sanity. though it wouldnt be surprising if i had lost it.
yeonjun left a seat between us, but i can still feel his stare.

the train whirrs and stirs, the age of the transportation evident. the posters that are encased in glass on some of the train’s steel walls are dated and pale. it reminds me of myself. it’s a long distance train, meaning that seats are grouped with barely stable, nailed on tables for people to study, put luggage, or in my case, stare at.
the train ride back to the old apartment is 3 hours or more, i can’t really remember. all i know is that yeonjun sitting across from me, elbows on the table, in this desolate part of the train is a sight i never thought i’d see again. i only look at the table, avoiding eye contact like a nervous little kid. i did that when i first joined as well. scared the boys would send me back just by a look.
our shoes touch under the table and he immediately sits up, i tuck my feet back under myself and he quickly apologies quietly. it’s awkward, and a year ago i would neck myself knowing this is how we would act around each other. from needing to touch to scared to make contact at all. i almost forget i had a knife to his throat 6 hours before hand.
we’re 15 minutes in when he decides to talk.
“so, do you have a job?”
“used to, before you came.”
“oh.”
i hate being callous and rough with my words, especially towards him, but the never ending feeling of danger when he’s around pushes me to say whatever comes to my unkept brain. i change my attention to my bag beside me, tugging and fiddling with the straps until it somehow ends up in my lap like a makeshift shield. for some reason i keep talking. maybe its because i know how much yeonjun hates when there’s nothing to say.
“i know you said that everything went to shit at home,” i called it home, even when it never felt like one, “but uh. how has it been?”
yeonjun looks at me surprised i’m initiating the conversation. but at least i’m not asking about him personally. we go underground suddenly and now the only thing helping me see his drained face is the electronic, somewhat flickering train lights.
“well, it really did go to shit. taehyun had periods where he wouldn’t come home, going out drinking with the money we tried to save,” he looks at me as if to check i was still interested and listening, and of course i am. he started the tangant with my brother. he continues, “and hyuka screams at us and even tried to hurt himself. he thinks it’s his fault and i mean, i don’t understand why he thinks that.”
kai told me how he feared he would die on the job, how he knows the only way out of it was to run, and how he feared the same for me. and it got into my head. so yes, i did leave because of him, but it wasn’t a fault. i nod for him to go on, keeping my eyes down. i now realise how much my confidence in talking or going against yeonjun has gone down. maybe it’s because if i break him anymore he’ll be erased.
“soobin, he went out and decided the only way to get money was to do what we always did, fight. but for some reason he did it himself. he’d come back with injuries i’d never seen before, money, and enemies. one of which took…”
“beomgyu.”
“yeah.”
i bite my lip and look to my fiddling thumbs that are now placed on the table between us , our hands only a ruler away. i sigh through my nose without meaning and he looks to me again. i can just see him biting his own lip, and looking up with now glassy brown eyes.
“it really has gone to shit.”
“and what were you doing?”
“trying to find you.”
once again a blanket of guilt and devastation covers me, as my left foot decides to bounce. if yeonjun were beside me, and i was still at home, he’d stop it with his hand on my thigh. i look out the window, but all i see is dark blur. the worry i buried for beomgyu when yeonjun originally told me he was taken was still reaching the surface of the grave. beomgyu was the most fragile and dependant on us. ever since kindergarten i knew that he let people walk over him like he was merely a carpet for wiping their feet. his lunch was always taken, his pencils snatched, and i was always the one to get them back. he was like the little brother i never had. instead when i got home i had to deal with two older brothers who didn’t really care. taehyun less than the other. the other left. the taste of toothpaste is wearing off as i ask,
“and you were talking about blackmail?”
he takes a deep breath at the question before nodding, and i wait for him to go on, actually looking up at him now, but he seems hesitant, and instead says, “you should try to go to sleep, you look tired.”
“yeonjun.” i know saying his name and his name alone effects him. makes him feel pressured and as if he’s at fault. i’ll only use it on him if i really need to. and i probably didn’t need to this time, but i was stressed. forgive me.
he presses his lips together, looks around to see if anyone had entered our part of the train and nods again.
“the blackmail was on everyone, but it was things we already knew about each other. like kai’s father being an ex celebrity and my own brother being a powerful lawyer. but yours and taehyuns? it was confusing to say the least.” he explains with a puzzled expression.
i just looked at him with slightly burrowed brows waiting for him to go on. he looked at me with caution, probably because it was the first time we made eye contact in hours, before asking,
“do you have another brother that you didn’t tell us about?”
my eyes widen and my mouth dries up in an instant. i shiver inside and stay silent in shock for a couple seconds.
“taehyun didn’t tell me anything. he won’t tell me anything.”
“was that it? that i have another brother?”
“… yeah.”
i lean back in my seat and hold a hand over my sewed shut mouth, the other one gripping at the fabric of my shorts. my knuckles turn white and my eyes gloss over for the second time this morning, before i take a deep breath. they can’t know him. he died. yeonjun gulps and reads me like a newspaper.
“hey, it’s okay that’s all it said. nothing like they knew where his body was or anything-“ he cuts himself off, realising how shitty that sounded. “sorry.”
millions of question shout at me, heart picking up pace. how do they know my brother? is he alive? how did they know who to contact? why did they take beomgyu and what do they want? i sigh and rub at my eyes again as if it’ll wipe the thoughts away as well. but they cant be when the only other person around me answers one of them.
yeonjun leans forward, licking him lips for an instance before nervously continuing.
“they want you. you and taehyun. they said it’s either you two go see them or beomgyu gets..” i finish his sentence in my head and it takes everything in me not to sob on the spot. no time for that. now i know why i was so persistent with myself to go with yeonjun. maybe it was for the best, or maybe i was just following the path to my depressing fate.
now i’m especially tired. my eyes feel like they’re being pulled down by gym rats, my skin feels tight and uncomfortable, and all i want to do is sleep and wake up in a plush bed. i can’t even specify where, why, if the bed’s even mine, because i’ve never had one that had created a mould just for me. maybe it’s for the best, because i feel if i let something create a mould of me i’d get too attached and sink into it, forever laying in the warmth. my head leans against the vibrating window, it hurts my head, but at least i don’t have to hold it up anymore.
“go to sleep, y/n.”
we were driving back from a mission that was a few hours away, even beomgyu had to come and set up his computers in the van. my mind replayed the scenes of the crimes, blood painted on the walls, glass stuck in the bodies of the rich, the red metallic liquids pouring from each and every one of them. i was squeamish to say the least, but i got used to it. i reminded myself that the people they hurt deserved it. corrupt rich men, cheating spouses. we were hitmen, but not evil.
i stared blankly at the vans floor, huening kai and taehyun helping each other wipe blood of their skinny faces, beomgyu talking about how he was the worst at driving, yet he was behind the wheel. soobin was in the front passed out, small and cute snores escaping his unconscious face. how i wish that was me. how i wish i could sleep as peacefully as he could.
“go to sleep, y/n.” yeonjun put his hand on my shaking leg, taking me out of my comfortable trance. i smile at him lazily, wiping my thankfully clean hand over my dirty face, dragging my skin down. “i’m serious. we have a few more hours until we’ll be home. take a nap.” he smiled, tapping his bare shoulder. he was the perfect height for me to rest comfortably, but was it comfortable for him? i never understood how a man who could hurt, torture and kill so easily could show me love with the same amount of effort? it felt terribly wrong to think of him as the person i trust most, the person who has the highest death rate than anyone else in our gang, the person who leaves me god awful scenes to clean and seem like an accident.
“aren’t you tired as well? you do much more work than me.” i ask, and he smiles down at me, rough fingers dragging a piece of slick hair away from my cheeks. it makes me even more sleepy, his calming face, his touch. scent. skin. everything. “especially this mission. i think i used three bottles of bleach.” he chuckles and i place my head on his shoulder.
“you know i can sleep anywhere. especially with you around.”
for the first time in months, i laugh a little. it only lasts a second, but it feels good. except for the fact i was laughing at myself, not at something funny. it makes yeonjun’s creased forehead and unattractive frown soften, continuing to bite his lip. he still cares even when i threatened, insulted, and basically told him i didn’t love him anymore. which was shitty, i know, but i was angry, and.. i don’t really know if i meant it.
before i decide to sleep, we leave the tunnel, and the morning sun coming through the other side of the rusted train highlights yeonjun away from everything else. his white tank, red shorts, pale skin and injury. the cheekbones that seem much more noticeable and his collarbones that stick out of his skin make it look like his skeleton hurts. his head too, and probably his heart. of course, the hair dyes definitely washed out, making it look like he’s gone swimming a few too many times. when i look at him, i wonder what happened to him. he’s weaker, skinnier, struggling. i wonder if i’d still be comfortable for me to rest my head on his shoulder, if his chest would still drown out his heartbeat or if it was thin enough to let it all out. i wish it did. i wish i could tell how he was feeling at all times. i think that’s what made me fall asleep earlier than i planned, without the fear of nightmares, the sound of his heart beat, the thought of his body as my bed.
i’m screaming, crying, wailing, sobbing. i’m clutching onto my side, kicking my feet, shaking my head. i’m shivering, writhing, bleeding. my vision has been tampered with by tears and fatigue, blood loss no doubt. yeonjun is there, trying to calm me down, trying to take my hands away from my injury, trying to help me. i think he’s crying, yelling, maybe even bleeding as well. and i want to say sorry but my throat is closing up and i don’t know if i can even survive anymore.
“y/n, please calm down, please-“
“taehyun- wheres taehyun- taehyun!?”
“he’s fine y/n! he’s perfectly fine, but you’re not. do you hear me? now let me help you.”
“please.” i need to run.
i jolt before blinkly wildly, luckily yeonjun’s asleep. his mouth is agape giving him the appearance of a gold fish, and his hair is fallen again. my bags made my lap hotter than i could imagine and the sun that previously provided me with a clear picture of yeonjun is now just climbed over the trains window. i arch my back in a stretch and let a sigh escape me. and as i’m grabbing a drink out my bag, a sense of excitement and immense anxiety plummets on my body, making me want to run around the train and merge with the trains seat at the same time.
im gonna see them again. huening kai might offer me coffee again, soobin might tell me off for stealing his blankets if i stay long enough, and taehyun might look me in the eye and talk to me. will they remember me? ive been gone for so long it feels like i’m just a memory to them and that they are the same to me. can i even remember their voices? their scent? what beomgyu’s favourite flavoured milk is, soobins favourite video game, taehyuns favourite dinner and huening kais favourite place to be alone? i find it hard to remember even the layout of our apartment. it was big enough for all of us but not big enough to feel like we all had private areas or rooms. do i remember the street name? loosing all of this memorised knowledge feels like a part of the mountain that is me is falling in an avalanche and im too slow to catch it or run away from it. oh god, and what if they’re not happy to see me? i ruined them. i’m the reason they’re split and stopped being active. stopped caring for themselves and being able to live the lives they deserve. suddenly i tell myself that i am so selfish. so self centred that i ran away when i was at the bottom of the card tower that we were all placed on. i ran away when my brother was struggling to continue on, when beomgyu was still recovering with the first abduction. hyuka still hadn’t seen his father for years, soobin hadn’t opened up to me. i left before yeonjun and i could even tell eachother we truly loved eachother. instead all i got were memories that were similar to the ones you make in highschool, distant ones with people you think you’ll spend the rest of your life with. and when i look back on them i realise who and who didn’t really care. i convince myself none of them did, not even yeonjun, which is a incomprehensible thought.
yeonjun wakes up, pushing me out of my thoughts. i try to think if i made a sound or movement that would’ve woken him up. but i guess he always did know when i was in distress. “did i wake you?”
“no. its just uh, the train lady just said our location was only half an hour away.”
i nod and look out the window. we’re going under and ontop of desolate towns, busy cities, until the plains of farm look too familiar and the roads look to similiar to the ones i remember, we pass the hospital that is also too familiar to me. he, like me, looks indenial that this is happening, and i remember that he used to call us the perfect pair. oh how childish he was.

Warnings : break ups, heartbreak, swearing
Synopsis : a friendship started on a blind date, a new relationship with an old flame. an unexpected love.
She sat on her couch as Beomgyu paced in front of her, going on about some wedding he has to attend. “Why did I say I have a date? I don’t have a date. What am I supposed to do? I can’t just show up alone. Ugh why didn’t you stop me, Y/n!” He collapsed into the spot next to her, resting his head on her shoulder.
“I wasn’t there when you told them you were dating someone, stupid.” She shoved his head off her shoulder, making him pout at her. She’d never tell him, but she has a weak spot for him. He has her completely wrapped around his finger without even realizing. He’s completely clueless to her growing feelings, feelings she wishes were there when they first met.
“Choi Beomgyu?” She asked hesitantly as she approached the table. His head snapped up from his phone, making eye contact with the prettiest girl he’s ever seen. Quickly, he nodded, standing from the table, and ushering her to sit. “Oh thank goodness. You’re the third person I’ve approached. I was scared I’d never find you.” She laughed as she picked up the menu in front of her seat.
“Blind dates sure are something, aren’t they?” He joked back, picking up his own menu, pretending he hasn’t already practically memorized the entire thing while he waited. Not that she was late, he was just far too early, far too nervous.
When Soobin told him he had the perfect girl for him, he was skeptical, wondering how Soobin would know such a girl. But as the days passed leading up to the blind date, Soobin told him more and more, and Beomgyu was really excited. Ready to move on and make new memories with someone new.
Within minutes, she surpassed all expectations. She was so kind to everyone, which Beomgyu found was quite rare these days. She was also hilarious, able to turn everything into a joke, and easily banted with him. She had something to rebut everything he said. He hated to admit it, but Soobin was right. She was perfect.
She didn’t expect reuniting with her childhood best friend would lead to him setting her up with his new best friend. It was definitely welcomed though, with her just getting out of a long term relationship. A relationship she expected to last forever. But, she supposes, some loves aren’t meant to last. Some loves are just stepping stones to the love that will last forever.
But as she sat with Beomgyu, genuinely enjoying his company, she heard a far too familiar laugh. One that used to make her smile, but now brought tears to her eyes. Across the restaurant she was sitting in, sat Kang Taehyun with another girl.
She could feel her heart break all over again, as if he was breaking up with her all over again. Telling her that his feelings had faded over time, and he wanted to see other people. She remembers the nights spent in her bed, hugging her pillow, and wishing for him to take all his hurtful words back. Tell her it was a cruel prank and that he still loved her.
Beomgyu saw her getting distant suddenly, completely zoning out and focusing on something behind him, or rather, someone behind him. He puts the pieces together and reaches his hand out to hold hers, asking if she was okay, or if she wanted to leave. “No, no. I’m okay. I’m enjoying myself. I want to stay.” She smiled at him, but even he could tell she was pretending.
She was pretending she was okay, that she was ready to move on and date someone new. She was pretending that she didn’t have any lingering feelings for the man who crushed her. She was covering up her hurt with a smile that was so obviously fake. But Beomgyu pretended he had no idea, smiling back at her, and trying to distract her as best he could.
When the date came to an end, Beomgyu walked her back, his hands in his pockets. They walked side by side, her telling him stories of her and Soobin from their childhood. She would laugh at the dumb things they did, and at the end of each story, she would smile fondly.
“This was really fun, Beomgyu.” She smiled as they stood outside of her apartment complex. He wanted to kiss her. He wanted to ask her out again. But he knew she wasn’t ready to move on, no matter how badly she tries to convince herself she is.
“It was lovely, but I think we should just be friends.” The words were so hard for him to get out, almost as if they were choking him. Her eyes widened, and he knew she was going to ask why. He could see the thousands of questions swirling in her mind. “It’s nothing against you, Y/n. You’re quite honestly my dream girl. But you’re not ready to move on yet, and that’s okay.”
“You saw right through me, huh.” She giggled to herself. “I’m really sorry, Beomgyu. I swear it has nothing to do with you. You’re wonderful, and I really did enjoy the date. It’s just, Taehyun and I were together for a long time, and I’m still trying to process the breakup.” Beomgyu nodded, understanding her a little too well.
“I get that honestly. It took me a while to process the end of my previous relationship. Take the time you need. I’d still like to be friends, though.” She smiled, agreeing to be friends as the two exchanged contact information.
The date ended completely different from how Beomgyu pictured it. He pictured walking her to the door, hand in hand, as they planned a second date. He pictured a goodnight kiss that would take his breath away. But instead he got a new friend. A friend he was totally smitten with.
“Do you think Taehyun would mind if I borrowed you for the wedding?” Beomgyu asked, pulling her out of her memory. “It’ll only be for a few hours. I’ll ask him.” He pulled out his phone, quickly sending Taehyun a text, asking to borrow his girlfriend for a few hours this upcoming weekend.
“Why are you asking him before even asking me?” She laughed, staring at Beomgyu with a fondness in her eyes that makes his stomach do somersaults. He likes to pretend that she’s realizing her feelings for him, falling for him the way he fell for her long ago. But he knows her heart belongs to Taehyun. So he takes the small moments of fondness and lets her go back to the one she loves.
“Hey.” A familiar voice greeted her as he took the seat next to her. “It’s okay that I sit here, right?” He asked, looking at her with guilt in his eyes. She wanted to say no, wanted to tell him to get lost, but instead she nodded. “How have you been?” He asked, barely looking at her as he took out a notebook and pen.
“Been better. But doing okay.” She answered, also not looking at him. Instead she fiddled with her pen, a telltale sign to Taehyun that she was anxious. It hurts his heart a little bit to see her so anxious around him when she used to be so comfortable. She used to say he was her safe space, he was her home.
But he know he did this. He’s the reason she can’t be comfortable around him. He fell into the trap of popularity, wanting so desperately to be noticed and to be liked. But it cost him love. A pure love. A true love meant just for him. “I’m sorry, Y/n.” He whispered, turning his head towards her, fully facing her for the first time since he sat down.
And she was beautiful. Even more beautiful than he remembers. And his heart clenches knowing he can’t reach out for her hand, run his thumb over her knuckles, and help her calm down. He hates himself for letting her go for something temporary. Something that didn’t feel even close to as nice as being in her arms felt.
Nothing could compare to the feeling of her playing with his hair as they watched a movie, completely ridding him of all his worries. Or the way she knew just what he needed at any given minute. How she would show up to his house with his favourite coffee, leaving him to study a little longer while she hung out with his family. Cooking dinner with his mom in the kitchen.
He would emerge from his room, expecting her to have gone home, but she would be sitting in the living room with his sister, gossiping about who knows what. No one else has done the things she does. No one else has made him feel the way she does. No one else has gotten along with his family. No one else has made him fall completely head over heels in love. Not the way she has. And she did it so effortlessly.
“Don’t apologize.” She responded, turning her head only slightly to look in his direction. “Because of you, I got to meet someone who understands me better than anyone else.” She explained, turning to face him completely, watching as his face fell.
“You’re dating someone?” He asked, his smile a little too wide when he watched as she shook her head. “Do I still have a chance?” They sat in silence for a minute as she processed his words, wondering if he was asking what she thought he was.
And as much as she wanted to say no, she knew that was a lie. Even after all this time, spending all her free time with Beomgyu trying to move on, she still loved Taehyun. “Yeah.” She finally answered. “You do.”
It was a slow start, but her and Taehyun worked things out. But things felt different. The passionate, fire-filled love she once felt with him, slowly turned to ash. The first time they dated, she wanted to spend as much time as she could with him. Wanted to learn absolutely everything about him. But this time around, she finds herself blowing him off more and more to spend time with Beomgyu.
And she knew Taehyun could tell things were different. It was hard to ignore. Whenever they were together, she would always talk about Beomgyu. What they did the previous day. A gift he bought her that she had been wanting for ages.
Over time, the jealousy Taehyun felt whenever she brought up Beomgyu turned into gratefulness. He was grateful to Beomgyu for being there when he couldn’t. Grateful that someone was able to bring her smile back. And though he could tell he was losing her, if it was Beomgyu, he could let her go.
~
“You are breathtaking.” Taehyun whispered as she stepped out of her room, the dress he helped her pick out hitting her in all the right places. She was stunning, and Taehyun couldn’t help but feel a little envious that she was Beomgyu’s date.
He placed his hands on her waist, pulling her close to him. How could someone look even more breathtaking while this close? The way she did her makeup complimented the dress perfectly. Everything about her took his breath away.
“Have fun. I’ll see you when you get home.” She wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing him in for a quick kiss as Beomgyu blew up her phone with notifications that he has arrived. “I love you.” Taehyun called after her as she walked towards the uber Beomgyu had ordered for them.
“I love you too!” She called back before getting into the car. “Holy shit.” She said as she looked at Beomgyu, her eyes wide at how unbelievably handsome he looked in his suit.
“What? Do I look as bad as you do?” He teased, nudging her with his elbow. But she couldn’t speak. In this moment, she understood what Taehyun meant by breathtaking. Beomgyu was just sitting there, but he completely took her breath away. She couldn’t even come up with a rebuttal, absolutely taken by how effortlessly he was driving her crazy.
“You’re fucking hot.” She blurted out before she could stop herself, causing the uber driver to stifle a laugh, but neither of the passengers noticed. They were both too wrapped up in each other.
Beomgyu was speechless at her outburst, trying to calm his pounding heart, but there was no use. Every time he felt calm, her words would echo in his mind, causing his heart to speed up once again.
He tried not to stare at her, knowing he wouldn’t be able to help himself. Because she sat there looking absolutely stunning. He’s never laid eyes on a girl as beautiful as she is. No one else could compare to her, and he’s internally smacking himself for letting her go so easily.
Beomgyu was heading towards Y/n’s apartment, her favourite food from her favourite restaurant in his hands. He knew she had been having a hard time the last few days, and decided he wanted to cheer her up. He had a pep in his step knowing he got to spend the rest of the day with his favourite person, trying to make her smile. The smile that makes him fall for her even more. He would do anything to see that smile.
But he stopped dead in his tracks when he reached her building, seeing her laughing with a guy. Even from where he was standing, he could see the stars in her eyes as she looked at him. How her smile was so much wider than it ever was with him.
And then the guy pulled her closer to him, bringing her in for a kiss. He watched as she wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing him closer to her, as if that was possible. And he could actually feel his heart break.
But he faked a smile when she noticed him and called him over. “This is Taehyun.” He recognized that name. He was the reason she wasn’t ready to move on, and he was here, sweeping her off her feet before Beomgyu had the chance. “Whatcha got there?” She asked, pointing to bag in his hands.
“Ah.” He completely forgot his original plan, taken aback by her new relationship with an old flame. “I bought your favourite takeout because I knew you were having a hard time.” He handed her the bag and watched as her entire face lit up, mending his heart only slightly. That smile was meant just for him.
“You are the best, Gyu.” He smiled back at her before taking his leave, spouting some bullshit about an essay due, and walking away from the two of them. She was happy, and at the end of the day, that’s all that mattered to him. He wasn’t going to bother fighting a losing battle. Taehyun won before Beomgyu could even try.
The two walked into the venue where the wedding was being held, gawking at how beautifully it was decorated. “Everything looks so expensive.” She whispered to him. He couldn’t help but laugh at her amazement.
“Ah! I just knew when you told me you had a girlfriend that it would be Y/n.” Beomgyu’s mom gushed, bringing her in for a hug. “You look absolutely beautiful, Y/n.”
“Thank you. You too look beautiful, Mrs. Choi.” His mom beamed at Y/n, and the sight alone warmed Beomgyu’s heart. He knew he was screwed the first time he introduced Y/n to his family. The way she fit in with them immediately. The way his entire family welcomed her with open arms, telling her to come back soon. The way his mom was always talking about her. He knew from the first day they met, but the longer he knew her, the more it was confirmed. She was perfect. For him and in general.
“Let’s go to the arcade.” She said suddenly as the two were sprawled out on her bed, a movie playing the background that neither of them were paying attention. They were talking about life, ignoring whatever what was happening in the movie, instead opting to stare at the ceiling.
Though, Beomgyu was actually looking at her the entire time. Watching as she scrunched her face whenever she was thinking. He noticed her eyes tracing imaginary images on the ceiling as she spoke. She was completely oblivious to the fact that he was completely enamoured with her.
“So suddenly?” He chuckled as they both sat up.
“I’m bored.” She shrugged.
And so the two headed for the arcade, challenging each other to just about every single game in the arcade as they walked. “No way. I’ll totally kick your ass at air hockey.” She told him as she stepped in front of him and spinning to walk backwards.
“Well I’ll kick your ass at DDR.” He teased, sticking his tongue out her, a gesture she quickly returned, before tripping over a rock, sending her falling towards the ground. Without hesitating, Beomgyu reached out, grabbing her arm, and effectively stopping her from hitting the ground. “Be careful.” He said softly, pulling her closer to him as she got back on her feet.
She was so close, her lips just inches away from his own. And he couldn’t look away. He wanted so badly to close the gap between them, but they were just friends, and she had a boyfriend. No matter how tempting kissing her was, he backed away, letting go of her arm in the process.
He had no idea the effect he suddenly had on her. He had no idea that she was leaning closer to him, hoping he’d take the leap and press his lips to hers. He had no idea that Taehyun had completely slipped her mind, as if he no longer existed. Beomgyu had taken over her mind, and he was completely clueless.
They mingled with some of the guests, Beomgyu’s arm wrapped around her waist as he led her through the crowd. They found another couple their age and introduced themselves. Both Beomgyu and Y/n completely forgot that they weren’t actually dating as they talked with this other couple.
Every question the couple asked, they both answered with ease. A story of how their relationship came to be easily forming, as if they weren’t lying. As if they were truly telling their love story.
And before they knew it, they were agreeing to a double date and exchanging contact information with the couple. They didn’t realize what they had done until they walked away to go greet more of Beomgyu’s family.
“Shit. Do you think Taehyun would let me borrow you again?” He asked quietly, trying to make sure no one found out that he wasn’t actually dating the girl of his dreams. That he was just borrowing someone else’s girlfriend and calling her his for the day.
“We can always just not text them.” She said with a shrug. The longer she acts as his girlfriend, the more she wishes it was real. She didn’t want to go back to her place where Taehyun was waiting for her. She wanted to go home with Beomgyu. Laugh with him about some of the outfit choices. She wanted to go on the double date. And she hated just how badly she wanted to be with Beomgyu. Because she knows she lost her chance.
“I can’t believe I introduce you to the perfect guy for you, and you end up back together with Taehyun.” Soobin whined, throwing his head back in his seat. “You were supposed to get over him, not get back together with him.”
“Well to me, Taehyun is the perfect guy for me.” She answered before taking a sip of her drink, impatiently waiting for her food. “He’s my first love, Soobin. He’s my weakness.”
“I just wish you would have given Beomgyu more of a chance. I really think he’d be good for you.” Soobin was looking at her again, with a pout on his face. She knew he meant well, that he just wanted both his friends to be happy.
“We agreed to be friends, Soobin. We actually hang out all the time. He’s really good at getting me out of my head and making me feel better.” Soobin smiled at this information, knowing her better than she thought he did.
As the evening progressed and they updated each other on their lives, his suspicions were confirmed. She kept bringing up Beomgyu and all the things they’ve done together. How he seems to know her better than anyone else, knowing exactly what she needs even if she doesn’t know. How he’s there for her when she needs him without even asking him.
Soobin already knew that Beomgyu was enamoured with her. It was a secret Beomgyu couldn’t keep to himself, spitting it out almost immediately upon seeing Soobin. But the more she talked, the more Soobin realized that Beomgyu’s feelings weren’t as one-sided as he thought. She was falling in love with him without even realizing it.
She was convinced that she still loved Taehyun because she was still hurt over their breakup. Because she was jealous seeing him out with another girl. Because she still got butterflies when he was around.
Their love was a wildfire destroying everything in its path. It was speeding down a dead end street. It was bungee jumping off the tallest bridge. It was skydiving for the first time. Their love was the colour red. A loud, raging, passionate kind of love. They fell too hard too fast. It was a feeling that couldn’t be replicated. A once in a lifetime kind of love.
But the fire burned out. The car stopped before it could crash. Jumping from the bridge no longer brought excitement. Their feet were planted flat on the ground. The red had faded. And they had fallen out of love just as fast as they fell in love. But they refused to believe it.
The love that was once passionate was now just easy. Like a routine you do every single day that you soon get bored of but can’t quit. It was like brushing your teeth. Or washing your hair. It no longer brought excitement. It was just a routine.
Soobin knew from the difference in how she’d talk about Beomgyu and Taehyun. How she excitedly told Soobin everything her and Beomgyu did. Everything he bought for her. Everything he did for her. She was smiling, and her eyes were bright. It was a look he hasn’t seen on her since before the breakup. Since before she left to see the world before returning for the next school year.
But when she brought up Taehyun, the light faded. She talked about him the way one talks about a friend they ran into while running errands. If it were anyone else, he’s sure they’d confuse the two, thinking Beomgyu was her boyfriend.
And she could tell by the look on his face that she had fucked up.
Her and Beomgyu took their seats as everyone prepared for the bride to walk down the aisle. Their intertwined hands rested in her lap as they watched the groom and groomsmen make their way down the aisle.
And when the doors opened again, everyone stood. Their hands stayed locked together as they watched the flower girl make her way down the aisle, followed by the bridesmaids, and then the bride herself. Y/n was amazed by how beautiful she looked in her floor length, princess-like gown.
She’s met Beomgyu’s cousin multiple times at family get togethers he would drag her to, and she remembers her being such a laid back girl. Always in leggings and an over sized t-shirt she obviously stole from her soon-to-be husband. So this look was jarring for her.
Beomgyu couldn’t help but smile as he watched her reaction, not even bothering to look at the bride. He thought she was absolutely adorable in this moment, her mouth slightly ajar, and he eyes wide. He wished he could take a picture, save this moment forever. But instead, he committed this moment to his memory, knowing he’d look back it in the future and still think she was the cutest thing he’s ever seen.
“Do you ever think about how different things would have been had I been over Taehyun when we went out?” She asked as they laid on the blanket in the grass, looking up at the stars. Soft music was playing from his phone that laid between them. Beomgyu turned his head to look at her, seeing that she was still staring at the stars. He could tell she was drawing shapes with her eyes, and he wondered what she saw in the stars.
“Sometimes.” He lied. He always thinks about where they would be. If they’d still be together. If they would have realized they were better off friends. If they would have grown to hate each other.
But he knows if he ever had the honor of calling her his girlfriend, he would do everything he could to keep her by his side. He knows he would never stop loving her. He’s pictured an entire future with her. A grand wedding, a couple of kids, a big house, an undying love. But it’s not his future to enjoy. And he hates that he fell so hard when he knew he didn’t stand a chance compared to Taehyun.
“What do you think our relationship would be like?” She asked. She’d never admit it, but a part of her thinks about what it would be like to be Beomgyu’s girlfriend all the time. That sometimes when she’s curled up in Taehyun’s arms, she thinks of Beomgyu. That a part of her wishes Taehyun was Beomgyu.
“I think we’d be like we are now.” Beomgyu answered, still looking at her. And she turned her head to meet his eyes, a slight blush brushing across her cheeks when she realized he was staring at her. And he thought she looked absolutely beautiful. “You’d be my best friend and my girlfriend wrapped in one.” His voice was soft as he spoke, but she was barely paying attention to his words.
She was too busy tracing his features with her eyes. His sharp jawline. His long eyelashes. His round nose she just wants to boop all the time. His soft looking lips. The same ones she’s dreamed of kissing. She couldn’t believe how deeply in love she fell for Beomgyu without even realizing.
“Were you even listening to anything I said?” He chuckled, pulling her out of her thoughts. His beauty was distracting. There was no one else like Choi Beomgyu. No one could make her feel that way he does, and she comes to the realization that maybe Soobin was right all along. Beomgyu was the perfect guy for her, and she let him go.
As the couple recited their vows, talking about the feelings they feel when they’re together. Talking about the moment they knew the other was the one. She sat there, going through all her memories with Beomgyu.
All the times he showed up with takeout and the two spent the day watching movies or binging a new tv show. All the times he would help her when she was struggling with something. All the times they would just lay and stare at the stars, talking about life. Thinking about the what ifs.
He was the first one she would call when she had good news or bad news. He was the first one at her door with his hands full of her favourite things to cheer her up. Whenever she was bored, she would call Beomgyu, and he always there.
And she realized no matter how hard she tries to deny it, Beomgyu is her one. He’s the one she wants to spend the rest of her life with. She wants to argue with him just to kiss and makeup minutes later. She wants come home to him after a long day and just lay in his arms as he plays with her hair, whispering little nothings into her hair as she slowly falls asleep.
She wants the good days and the bad days. The days where they don’t feel like doing anything. And the days they’re filled with energy and bouncing off the walls. She wants to wake up in his arms and see him already looking at her with a fondness in his eyes.
She wanted to love wholeheartedly and not feel scared he’s going to fall out of love with her. She wants the security she knows Beomgyu can give her. His unchanging feelings obvious to her, even after all this time. It’s a security that Taehyun just can’t give her. She’s worried every single day that Taehyun is going to change his mind again. Decide that he doesn’t love her.
But the thought of Taehyun not loving her doesn’t hurt her the same way it used to. She doesn’t lay awake at night wondering if Taehyun is regretting his decision of getting back together with her anymore. And she knew what she had to do.
So when the ceremony ended, she told Beomgyu she needed to go. That there was something she had to do. “It can’t wait until after the reception?” He asked. And realistically it could wait. It wasn’t urgent. But she knew if she stayed any longer, acting as Beomgyu’s girlfriend, she would do something she’d regret.
“I’m so sorry. I’ll make it up to you, I promise!” She pressed a quick kiss to his cheek before heading for the uber she had ordered.
“That’s so cheesy.” Beomgyu cringed as the ending credits rolled. “Do girls actually like grand gestures like that?” He asked, looking towards Y/n, who just shrugged.
“I’m sure some girls do. That’s why these movies are so popular.”
“What about you? Do you like grand gestures like that?” She quickly shook her head. She never understood why girls seemed to swoon at the idea of someone confessing their love so loudly, so publicly.
“Absolutely not. I like the small things. Like remembering my coffee order. Or knowing how to calm my anxieties. Small acts of love that show the persons true heart. It’s much more romantic to me than the giant bouquet of flowers and holding a boombox outside someone’s window.” Beomgyu chuckled, taking a mental note. He’s sure at this point, he could list her orders at every single place they’ve frequented. He always paid a little too much attention to the girl that was supposed to just be his friend.
“That definitely sounds more romantic. And a whole lot less embarrassing.”
When the uber pulled up outside of her house, she practically ran inside, seeing Taehyun sitting on her couch, watching some show she doesn’t recognize. “Oh hey.” He said, pausing the show and giving her his full attention. “You’re home a lot earlier than expected. Everything okay?”
“We have to break up.” She spat out before she could stop herself. She wasn’t sure what else to say. She didn’t want to beat around the bush and lead him on any longer. Honestly, she should have ended things months ago when she came to terms with her feelings for Beomgyu. But she believed it was just a passing curiosity. Something that would fade with time. But it didn’t. It did quite the opposite.
“Oh.” He said. Not quite the reaction she was expecting, but she also wasn’t sure what she was expecting when she came here. “Can I know why?” He knew the reason already, but he wanted to know if she was going to be honest. He needed to hear it from her as a form of closure.
“I don’t love you the way I used to.” She answered. “I fell for Beomgyu.” She admitted, tears springing to her eyes. Regardless of her feelings, breakups still suck. It still hurt her to let go of Taehyun permanently. She knows that if she chooses Beomgyu now, she can’t choose Taehyun down the road. This was it.
“If you love him, you shouldn’t have left him at the wedding alone.” Taehyun chuckled, trying to hold back his tears, trying to play off the hurt he was feeling. He lost her a long time ago, that he knew. But he hoped he had a little more time before she realized. A little more time to love her the way he should have the entire time. A little more time to have her love him so purely.
“I felt guilty. I felt like I was leading you on, and I just couldn’t do that anymore.” Taehyun smiled at her. Even now, her kind heart shows. She ran away from the man she loves to let Taehyun go. She came all this way just to release him from the chokehold she has on him. Even though it meant leaving behind the man she loves.
“Go get him.”
“I’m not going to do that to you, Taehyun. I’m not going to be the person that starts dating someone new so quickly after ending a relationship.” He couldn’t believe the sacrifices she was willing to make for him. Sacrifices he didn’t make for her.
“Listen, I knew a while ago that I was going to lose you to Beomgyu, okay? I came to terms with it already. So go get him before it’s too late. Because believe me when I say, you’ll regret being too late.”
She knew he was talking about her, about them. How when he came back into her life, it was already too late. She had started falling for someone else while he was re-falling in love with her.
“I’m so sorry, Taehyun.” He shook his head, taking a step forward to wipe away the tears that fell from her eyes.
“Just promise me you’ll be happy.” She nodded, linking her pinky with his and sealing the promise. “Now go.”
The sun had began to set while she was in her uber back, hoping she would make it in time before he went home. She knew the reception had to be coming to an end, and all she could do was hope Beomgyu was there.
Usually she would stare out the window, look out into the horizon, and watch the sunset. She would read the passing signs, and peer into other cars as they passed them. But she couldn’t focus on any of that, too focused on making it time.
She chuckled to herself thinking back to their talks about grand, romantic gestures. How cringy they both found it, but as she got closer to the venue, she wouldn’t mind embarrassing herself in front of his entire family if it meant she could call him her boyfriend.
By the time she arrived, she could see everyone filing out of the venue, and she wondered if Beomgyu has already left. Her heart sank when she couldn’t see him among the crowd of people gathering outside to say their goodbyes. She wonders how late she is; if there’s even a point in confessing. Maybe she’s read all the signs wrong as he truly only sees her as a friend and nothing more.
But then she sees him emerge from the building, talking to his cousin and her new husband, and just jumps out of the car, catching the attention of almost everyone. “Oh dear, you came back. Beomgyu said you weren’t feeling well and had to go home. Are you feeling better?” Beomgyu’s mom spoke as she made her way closer to the crowd of people.
“Yeah, I’m feeling a lot better. I’m sorry I bailed halfway through.” She kept glancing towards Beomgyu, who seemed to be completely entranced by the conversation he was having, not even noticing she had returned.
“Nonsense dear. Your health is more important. But I’ll let you get to Beomgyu. He was really worried about you, please reassure him you’re okay.” She nodded, giving the older woman a quick hug before ascending thestairs towards Beomgyu.
“Y/n, you came back.” Beomgyu said with wide eyes, looking between her and his cousin with shock written all over his face. She couldn’t help but think about how adorable he looked. And the words came out before she could stop them.
“I’m in love with you.” His attention was solely on her now, the shock on his face becoming more obvious with her sudden confession. The bride and groom looked at the younger couple with soft smiles, the groom placing his hand on Beomgyu’s shoulder.
“Looks like the next wedding we’ll be attending is yours.” He teased, before the bride and groom left the two of them alone.
“Please say something before I die of embarrassment.” She told him with a breathy laugh, hoping she didn’t look as scared as she felt. But Beomgyu was still silent, staring at her with the same shocked look on his face. “Are you alive in there?” She joked, waving her hand in front of his face, which finally pulled him out of his shock.
“What did you just say?” He asked, unsure if he heard it correctly. He didn’t want to confess his undying love for her if he misheard her. He didn’t want to make a complete fool of himself and lose her friendship. Because even if it hurt watching her with Taehyun, he prefers that pain to the pain of losing her.
“I said I’m in love with you.” She repeated, more confidence in her voice this time. “I left to break up with Taehyun because I don’t love him. I love you.” He broke out in the biggest smile she’s ever seen, which made her smile just as wide.
“I love you too.” He cupped her face, bringing her face closer to his before whispering another love confession. “Holy fuck am I ever in love with you.” And then he pressed his lips to hers.
His kiss felt different than Taehyun’s. Taehyun’s kiss was always filled with feverish passion, whereas Beomgyu’s kiss was filled with a love she’s never felt before. It took her breath away and made her dizzy. She could kiss him everyday for the rest of her life and know that she’ll always feel this feeling. The dizzy breathlessness as if she just ran 5 miles on an empty stomach.
It took only one kiss for them to know that this was it. That this kind of love was made for fairytales. It was the kind of love people dream of; the kind of love people write stories about.
Their love was like crawling into bed after washing the sheets and covers, feeling the warmth envelope you as the smell of clean laundry surrounded you. It was like waking up to breakfast in bed made by your favourite person. It was laying on the ground as you count the stars littering the sky. It was the smell of the brewing coffee when you walk into your favourite café.
Their love felt like home. Like this is how it was always meant to be. Like the world was leading them to this very moment. The moment when they realized their love could drown oceans. The moment they realized they’ve been falling for each other this entire time. The moment they realized they were never just friends.
That was so toe curling good!! This was just so well written, I'm so heart broken for the firsts ones, but Kai's just healed my heart, as a late bloomer, I got some of my hopes up again.
tomorrow x together as rare tropes !!

pairing ot5 x gn! reader. genre mostly angst, some fluff. warning toxic relationships. author’s note this is not a reflection of the real txt. it’s purely fiction, i just liked the idea.

yeonjun, the hardest breakup ★
true love, or at least that’s what you called it. he wasn’t your first love, nor was he your most recent, but he was always in the corner of your mind. you always stayed in touch, the friendship you promised each other occasionally went stale whenever either of you fell in love with somebody else, but he was always there. on every social media, in your contacts, and your camera roll, and sometimes on the other half of the bed. a part of you would always love yeonjun, maybe because he was your soulmate or maybe because nobody else could ever offer you what he was able to. the breakup had sent you spiralling at the time. you were a mess of trying to find a version of yourself that was satisfactory enough to fill the void left behind. it angered you that it couldn’t work, you really wished it could. and as much as you wished you could just take him back, you knew it would hurt more than to move on.
he told you he loved you more than anyone else in his life. you both worked harder than ever to spend time together, to make agreed decisions, to balance life with each other. in the end, it became exhausting. relationships need more than love to work, like a car needs fuel but it won’t just drive smoothly if nobody is steering it. he loved you hard, but he couldn’t communicate that love in the way you needed. it was hard to talk things out with him, everything turned into a fight because it was all emotion and no rationale. if only the fuel was enough to allow the car to navigate steep roads and sharp turns, maybe it wouldn’t be this way. maybe you wouldn’t drop new partners after a few months because they just didn’t love you as hard as yeonjun had. maybe you wouldn’t spend every waking second talking to him, making plans with him, inviting him over and doing every other thing that points to a relationship without ever putting a label on it. maybe, or maybe you were just too afraid to let go.
soobin, simply passing through ★
you’d heard a lot about the second-love phenomenon, but you stopped believing it after you fell for someone who ruined your perception of love. and then you met soobin, and you had so much love for him. but deep down, you knew he wasn’t going to be the one. you weren’t going to get married, he wouldn’t be invited to family vacations or featured on your yearly christmas cards. he was your love of the ‘now’, back then. he made you happy and safe, you knew that you’d cherish him and your relationship for the rest of your life. it would hurt, losing him, but not too much. you’d cry, do something mildly impulsive like buying something you definitely didn’t need, and then you’d move on. and that’s exactly what happened.
it was pure bliss. an instant connection, and you both fell quite quickly. he held your hand and took you on the best kind of dates, you spent hours of the morning just cuddling and chatting between kisses. there was a peacefulness about your relationship, the comfort of walking around barefoot to find each other in the small space of your apartment. he knew your order for every fast-food place, he could read you like a book even if you tried hard to hide the feeling you were experiencing. he never had a problem with you crying on his shoulder, he’d simply hold you tight and help you heal. he fixed your view on love, and you thanked him for that. but one day, you woke up feeling stuck. it was repetitive, and you were bored of living the same day over and over knowing he’s not the one you saw in your future. and he felt the same way, he didn’t see himself ring shopping and not once did he ever mention starting a family with you. so when you drifted apart and slowly fell out of love, neither of you were too upset. there were some tears shed, you messily wiping them away with your sleeves as soobin taped up a box and tried not to wrap you up in his arms. you were forever thankful for the experience, but you weren’t going to wait around mourning a relationship destined to end. so you looked back with a smile on your face, all while searching for the one stood beside you in that christmas card photo.
beomgyu, love bomber ★
the first time you met beomgyu, he was introduced to you as ‘mr. first love’ and the ‘epitome of sweet, true, puppy love’. so you played the game, tried to be as sweet and as innocent as the love everybody had promised you — the love beomgyu had promised you. at first, it was sweet and true and you certainly felt that puppy love in the air. however, it was just the steady chain lift of a rollercoaster before the main event — the steep drop, followed by twists and turns and a couple of those loop-the-loops. he took you on sweet dates, walked you home and kissed you goodnight, spent his spending money on small gifts for you, gave you t-shirts to wear around his apartment, breakfast in bed, loving affirmations, cuddles through the night, coffee on your lunch breaks, walks in the park, kisses you would never forget. and then, you said yes to a relationship with him. and you quickly noticed the lack of him in your day-to-day life after that. he would rarely text you back, claimed he didn’t have time for you, brushed off your worries, told you he was too tired for you to stay the night, forgot about every milestone.
he wasn’t hurt or surprised when you broke it off. in fact, he was just waiting for you to break up with him first. you felt like a fool, having held tightly onto somebody who was constantly loosening their grip. you’d never made it onto his social media accounts, it was like you hadn’t even existed. in your case, you had countless photos in your snapchat memories, a number of posts and even an instagram highlight, all that you struggled to erase for weeks following the breakup. for you, it was messy and painful and you knew it would impact every future relationship. for beomgyu, you were just a pastime. there was nothing of his for you to return to him, no way for you to contact him. it had been so perfect and beautiful, and then suddenly it was nothing and only one broken heart. because beomgyu didn’t know how to love, and he refused to let anyone teach him. he’d gave up when it got hard, and he never wanted to experience that difficulty again.
taehyun, too hard to love ★
heartbreaks are no joke. at first you didn’t understand, having never fallen in love. every relationship was short-lived, and there was always something missing. the something always seemed to be love, because you were never dating the right people. you didn’t even cry after the break-ups, you just got back up and went out searching for the next one. as awful as it seemed, that was the way you thought it had to be. when it came to taehyun, though, he wasn’t going to be just another one of your exes. you were sure of it at the time, that he’d be the one that stuck. but of course, life was never that fair.
taehyun’s heart had been shattered. not just broken, shattered into a million different pieces that he didn’t know how to stick back together. he was always hesitant with you, he didn’t like too much affection and always wanted space. even as the relationship matured, he was always so cold. but you were blinded by the love you had for him and his smile, that sometimes he could be sweet and that was enough. it never really was enough, because you were suffering from a heartbreak you’d never experienced. it wasn’t your fault that his trust was broken, yet you were the one being punished for it. every attempt you made to try and piece back together his heart, he would tell you he was sure he’d lost a few pieces and he wasn’t sure you’d ever be able to fix it. and it hurt too much to keep working on that puzzle, your fingers started to hurt from rubbing against the harsh cardboard. so you gave up, picked up the table with the puzzle on it and tipped it onto the floor. and just like taehyun had predicted, you went and broke his heart. even worse than the first time, because you wanted to be important to him. if he couldn’t love you enough, then you were sure to make him hate you enough. you wanted to break his heart that we had had broken yours.
huening kai, the one ★
you were a late bloomer when it came to relationships. you’d dated a few times, experienced some of the simpler firsts with people who were just wasting your time. you longed to experience love, but it never seemed to be coming around. when you tried, it always failed. and when you didn’t try, you weren’t even giving yourself a chance. so as you grew into a young adult, you began a social life that was friendship-motivated. you treated your friends like lovers, because that kind of love was as close as you were going to get. every birthday was a huge celebration, you spent many weekends drinking and clubbing with your closest friends, you even went all-out on christmas gifts. and when you met kai, it was completely by accident. you weren’t trying to meet him, the idea of relationships had been completely scratched out of your to-do list.
it was scary at first. neither of you knew what to do, just that you had love for each other. there wasn’t a single worry in the world. no competition, no chance for cheating, and definitely no break-up in sight. you didn’t even long to go out and earn more experience, you were as happy as you were going to get. nobody would ever love you like kai, and you weren’t going to give up your home for a hotel. the first love discourse sometimes worried you, but just seeing the way he excitedly ran towards you after some time apart put all those worries away. you had all of your biggest firsts with him, ranging from the first experience of love to the first time living with a romantic partner. first trip away together, first promise rings, first valentine, first romantic winter, first matching couple costumes, even all of the embarrassing firsts. but the most important part of it all, that he was going to be your first and last of everything.

pairings: princess!reader x prince!ot5, arranged marriage trope

“Lift your arms please.”
You raise your arms int a T position standing in front of a large mirror in your room. Your royal seamstress was assigned to making you 3 new dresses which you felt was unnecessary but your father insisted.
“Alright. Measurements are taken. They should be complete within the week, your highness.”
“Thank you. If that’s all I’m going to get dressed and head out to lunch.”
The seamstress bows to you whilst your handmaids help you get dressed in your corseted undergarments followed by your emerald green gown. The velvet cloth draped around your body was free flowing. The sleeves flared past your elbows and the fabric only cinched in at your waist, flowing delicately till it reached the floor. Your dresses tended to be comfortable and modest despite the tightness of your corset underneath. Your mother disapproved, suggesting that your tastes needed to be upto the standards of other royal members your age but you never felt the appeal of the more form fitting dresses or the lower, square necklines.
Once you were dressed and had accessorised with your simple diamond set, you are escorted to the dining room by the bodyguards outside your room.
“Ah, there you are! We’d been wondering what had happened to you,” your mother exclaims, her face gleaming with a joy that you couldn’t figure out. Whilst your parents weren’t overly strict, they were never the type to pamper anyone. Their smiles were few and far in between so naturally you were suspicious.
You take your seat opposing your mother at the head of the 10 foot long table, scanning the food in front of you. You were aware of your privilege and so each meal was one filled with gratitude.
“We have something to tell you,” your father began as the servants began filing your plates with food.
“You’re of age now and it’s about time we found you a husband. As you know, the laws of our kingdom forbid a female heir unless married to noble blood and as your father grows old, the time for you to step up as queen gets closer. So we’ve been decided that it’s time for you to choose your marriage partner.”
You fail to comprehend any of the information that darts towards you only understanding the words marriage and husband.
“But mother! Do I not get a choice in this! What if I don’t want to get married? Not yet at least. There’s still so much I have to learn and know about the world before I’m even remotely ready. You must understand that surely.”
“This is your duty! As the only female heir of Emberfall, you cannot refuse. We will not hear of it. You cannot let your people down and we will not let the bloodline of this kingdom be lost to the failure of marriage. You will marry within the year and that’s final. We have chosen 5 princes from nearby kingdoms in hopes of forming an alliance. They will arrive next week and you will choose your husband amongst them,” your father’s tone was cold as he lectures you. You immediately see your fate of marriage presented in front of your eyes. Misery, dependence and entrapment. The three things you feared the most.
The rest of the meal was silent as you manage to eat a few more bites of your breakfast before storming out. You head straight to your chambers, distraught over the news that struck like lightning. All your life had been building upto this moment and you knew but at the same time you were hoping for a change in laws. Why was it that a woman couldn’t rule without a man by her side? The laws created decades ago had never been changed. Trying to change them would be considered treason against royal traditions and customs. You could only hope that one of your prospects would be somewhat likeable particularly if you were to be spending the rest of your lives together.
A week later….
“Your highness, the royal seamstress is here with your new gowns.”
You were gazing out your arched windows when your handmaid calls out to you.
“Of course, let her in.”
You stand up from your seat at the window sill, making your way to the circular stand in front of your mirror as the seamstress and her assistants enter holding 3 large boxes in addition to 2 bags.
“Your dresses are ready your highness. These styles are slightly different to the ones you usually wear but your mother insisted.”
You get through the first 2 dresses amazed by the way they look on you.
“Here try this one. It’s a truly special gown,” the seamstress points to the last box as the assistant places it at the table opening up the box revealing a rich scarlet dress, the silk of the dress reflecting the light that casts through your windows. The dress is taken out of the box as you slip into the gown staring at your reflection in the mirror.
The dress hangs on your dress in such a delicate manner. One wrong move and everything would go wrong. The straps hang off your shoulder, showcasing your collarbones as your chest is pushed up against the low sweetheart neckline, revealing some cleavage. The corset held your waist in as the dress hugs your figure only flaring out slightly past your thighs, leaving your shape on full display, whilst the slit inches up your leg.
Whilst this was new for you, you couldn’t argue that the designs of the dresses were the most beautiful you had ever worn.
“Your highness,” your handmaid bows upon the arrival of your mother.
“Darling you look beautiful. Your future husband is going to adore you!”
The compliment felt genuine. For the first time your mother has commented on your looks in a way which wasn’t diminishing. Maybe a new look was needed.
“I have a gift for you,” she says, opening a jewellery box, revealing the most dazzling diamond necklace you had ever laid your eyes on, “This was my mothers necklace that she gave to me before I got married to your father. Now that you’re about to pick your groom, I think it should belong to you.”
“Thank you, mother.”
She stands behind you, clasping the necklace onto your neck.
“It looks beautiful on you. Matches the dress too. I think you should stay in this dress. The 5 princes are set to arrive within the next few hours.”
“What? Why did no one tell me?!”
“We did tell you. We said the princes were arriving today last week at breakfast.”
Now that she mentions it, you remember it vaguely but back then you were too focused on the prospect of getting married to some stranger that this information flew over your head.
“Now finish getting ready and be at the throne room in the next few hours.” With that your mother leaves as you’re left staring at yourself in the mirror. You admired yourself in the dress you were wearing, feeling the material touch your palms as you observed every detail of the dress.
“Your highness, there’s still these two bags but since your mother wants you to stay in this dress, I shall leave them here for you to try on later. If you have any problems with them, please send them to me straight away.”
“Thank you, I’m sure everything will be fine. And thank you for these beautiful gowns.”
“Oh there’s no need for your thank yous, it’s always a pleasure your highness. It that is all I must be getting back.”
She and her assistants bow to you before bidding you a due. Your handmaids finish getting you ready before escorting you to the throne room.
The space was vast and empty apart from the 3 thrones that sat against the wall straight ahead and the paintings hung on either sides of the wall, filling the entire space. When you hosted balls, the room always came alive but most days it was simply empty and unused.
You greet your parents who were avidly waiting for your arrival and you took your seat beside your father. The members of the court also arrived shortly after and the room was soon bustling with chatter when the sound of a horn silenced everyone.
“The princes have arrived, your highness,” announces the page.
“Good, let them in.”
The double wooden doors are pushed open revealing 5 tall men wearing forest green, your kingdoms colour. Their walk towards you is charismatic and full of charm, each prince reacting differently upon seeing you. Your quick scan of their faces lead you to finding your childhood friend, Kai. He smiles at you as you take a quick glance at him, pulling a face that only he could decode. You were glad for the familiar face but the idea of marrying your best friend felt wrong. Your friendship was strong and you did not want to destroy it through marriage.
“Welcome to Emberfall! We are glad you arrived safely and you’ve each been assigned some of our best servants who will help you with your preparations to win my daughter’s hand in marriage.”
“We’re grateful that you considered us, your highness. I am Yeonjun, Prince of Aesteria. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
“I’m Soobin, Prince of Alvendale,” his voice shakes slightly as he bows in your direction. You find his nervousness cute, letting out a silenced chuckle.
“Prince of Eldoria. My name is Beomgyu. Nice to meet you princess,” he smirks, his confidence exuding in his introduction. You could tell he was going to be a mischievous one.
“I’m Taehyun, your highness, Prince of Valencrest.”
“And I’m Kai, Prince of Solara.”
You couldn’t help but giggle at your friend’s introduction. It was as if it was the first time meeting him when in fact your family had known his since before the two of you were born.
“Send your regards to your father Kai,” your father interjects, “Now the introductions are made, you may join us for lunch after you get settled in your rooms. Your servants will escort you.”
The court is dismissed as you arise from the throne and make your way down to meet Kai.
“I didn’t know you were one of my options! Why didn’t you write to me?”
“Trust me I would have but I only found out a few days ago. Turns out my older brother was meant to be here but he disappeared and so I was his replacement.”
“Well that’s good then. I can’t stand your brother. It’s nice having a familiar face around.”
After engaging in more conversation, you separate ways only meeting again at lunch.
When you arrived, 3 of the princes had already arrived, taking a seat beside either of your parents: Kai sat to the left of your father, Soobin next to him and Taehyun sat besides your mother. You contemplate where to take your seat and decide to sit besides Taehyun, facing Soobin. Yeonjun and Beomgyu arrive minutes later, apologising for their delay as they scowl at each other and sit on opposite ends of the table, with Beomgyu next to you.
Lunch was served promptly and the meal began in silence, everyone focused on their own plates. You eye Soobin opposite you and see him struggling to choose which spoon to use for his soup. Slightly confused, you point out the correct spoon earning you a smile of gratitude.
“So, what does everyone like to do in their spare time?” You were desperate to break the silence.
“Well I like reading. Our castle has one of the largest libraries in the realm, so I tend to spend at least a few hours a day reading and researching. What about you Princess?” Taehyun was the first to respond, his voice seemed enthusiastic as he described his hobby.
“Not much of a reader but I love taking a stroll in the castle gardens.”
“I see,” his voice held a tone of disappointment, knowing that his interests did not match yours.
“What about the rest of you? I know that you love playing your instruments, Kai. What about you Soobin?”
“Umm… I guess I also like taking a stroll around the castle garden. There’s so much to see out there.”
You acknowledged his response by nodding and smiling but you got the feeling that there was something he was hiding.
“I quite like horse riding princess. Usually I’m up early and on a horse. Have you ever ridden?” Beomgyu answers.
“No, never dared to. I find that my feet are usually capable of taking me where I want to.”
“Well maybe I could teach you. If you’re not scared that is,” his smirk once again highlights his self-assurance, constantly pushing the limits.
“Well I’m also a rider. I could teach you too, and in fact I’d probably be better than Beomgyu. I’ve had more experience.” Yeonjun interjects.
They both glare at each other from opposite ends of the table and Beomgyu moves his chair closer to you, almost as if he were marking his territory which Yeonjun could not reach.
“Well, why don’t you pick one of them to teach you. It may teach you something,” your father suggests.
Pick one of them? But who?

ahh this is so angsty and heartbreaking in the best way possible…go give it a read excited to read future chapters 🥰
to know him is to love him, and i do | chapter two: he can't keep living like this
pairing(s): choi beomgyu x you, kang taehyun x you
summary: you love beomgyu more than anything. you just wish he loved you, too. or you finally break up with beomgyu and move on, but as for him? maybe he's starting to realize too little too late.
genre: romance, angst, angst with a happy ending (?)
word count: 2.3k
notes: hello again :) here is chapter two! i'm actually really nervous to post this, so i hope you all like it! check the ending for more notes <3 also, shout out to user woncheecks for being my test audience! anyway, enjoy!

the first time beomgyu realizes just how impactful your absence is, nothing in particular happens. it's a regular tuesday night a week or so after your "breakup" and he's bored out of his mind. he showers, listens to music, texts his friends and makes himself dinner, but something is missing.
as he sits on his couch, he realizes what it is: you. right about now, you should be pestering him to hang out and showing up on his doorstep to watch a movie. he'd roll his eyes at first but eventually relent, as long as he got to pick the movie, of course. he wouldn't say it, but he'd actually enjoy glancing over and seeing your reactions. you were comically expressive and every twist and turn of the plot had your eyes bulging and mouth agape, turning to him for confirmation that he was seeing the same things you were. when you watched inception for the first time it absolutely rocked your world.
he's alone, but he puts on a movie, anyway. every so often, his head turns to the side with the corner of his mouth raised, but you're not there to give a reaction. he should be used to your absence by the third twist, but he still finds himself subconsciously turning to you throughout the rest of the movie. when the credits roll, he's half expecting to hear you chatter on about how crazy it was, but it's silent. the only time that would happen would be when you'd accidentally drift off in spite of how engrossed you were. you'd try to fight it off like a stubborn kid, but would succumb by the final act. he smiles at the memory before shaking his head in disbelief. what's wrong with him?
moments like these plague him more and more frequently, but the most notable one is the night before his first day at a new job. he briefly talks to his friends about his excitement, but he's too embarrassed to divulge just how anxious he is. times like this, he'd come over and complain for however long he needed. you'd sit and nod, asking questions during his pauses to encourage him to continue, always adding appropriate and thoughtful commentary.
his thoughts wander to how you're doing alone. you really love him, it seems, so he can only imagine how you're faring without him. he wishes you hadn't blocked his number so he could at least ask how you are. maybe you'd even tell him you miss him. not for the first time, he begins to wonder if he pushed you too far this time around. you've gotten angry and given him the silent treatment before, sure, but you've never blocked him and you've certainly never done it for so long.
he looks you up on instagram for the first time since your breakup. he's not terribly surprised when he sees he's blocked on there too, but all it takes is a switch to his photography account, which you had forgotten to block, to see what you're up to now.
the first thing he notices is a picture of you sitting outside with an ice cream cone in hand, face flushed and sun encircling you like an angel. your smile is beaming and your eyes are crinkled and he can almost hear your giggle through the screen. the caption reads "ice cream date with my best friend! <3"
he scrambles through his memories to try to remember a time in recent history when you two did something similar, but he comes up blank. what he does recall, though, is you mentioning a new frozen yogurt place you wanted to visit with him for your birthday. he nodded in response but he knew he wouldn't go with you, opting instead to get shitfaced with his friends. in retrospect, maybe you knew it too. he had checked his phone the next morning and saw he had at least half a dozen missed calls and well over a dozen texts from you. when he finally texted you back, you took almost a full 5 hours to respond, which was uncommon. usually, you'd text back within minutes. it occurred to him later on that that was your version of the silent treatment and it amused him that you could only hold out for a few hours. he honestly found it kind of cute.
he remembers what you did for his birthday. how you had secretly invited his friends over to his apartment to surprise him after an especially shitty day at work. he came home to an elaborately decorated apartment and all of his favorite people greeting him. he remembers how happy you looked when he opened up your present to him, which was the guitar he had always secretly wanted but could never quite justify buying for himself. you were so excited, any spectator would think he had gotten you the gift of your dreams and not the other way around. you were practically buzzing with excitement when he pulled you in for a kiss. his friends had whooped at the display of affection and you had felt your cheeks heat up. what did he get you for your birthday again? anything?
he spends days pondering over this and similar circumstances, which eventually turn into weeks upon weeks. what starts as a nagging feeling that he may have gone too far in his neglect for you becomes pure, unadulterated guilt and anxiety. he recalls just how torn up you seemed the last time he saw you. to be honest, at the time, he was mostly just irritated. but he never thought you'd actually leave. all he can see is that awful look on your face when you finally ended everything and all he can remember is the fact that he put it there. he knows in his heart that he has no right to feel this way, but he feels it all the same.
-
you would have never imagined you'd actually like somebody other than beomgyu, but taehyun makes it as easy as possible given the sticky circumstances. you met at a club your best friend dragged you to, both you and taehyun had to remain sober (hello designated drivers) and ended up having a surprisingly engaging conversation amidst the smell of beer, sweat, and sex. after that, the rest is history.
he can tell you've been hurt before, but he gently coaxes you into opening up as you spend more and more time with him. you're afraid of being overbearing and coming across as a lovesick puppy again, but taehyun is gentle and seems to enjoy your attention and affection, even if he's a surface level tsundere. more than that, he actually reciprocates it.
do you still think about beomgyu? of course. do you miss him? well, you'd never admit it to a single soul, but the way you see him in everything has to be an indicator that you do. it's getting better, though. more bearable.
a month or so into your relationship, you post about taehyun for the first time. you don't know why you're so nervous about announcing to the world that you have a boyfriend again, but happiness overwhelms your fear when you're met with nothing but positivity.
-
beomgyu is shellshocked, to put it mildly. the picture of you and your so-called boyfriend is sickly sweet. it's not over the top or anything—just a candid of you in a café holding hands with him while looking over the same menu. the caption is nothing other than a heart and squirrel emoji (why?) and both he and your best friend are tagged. his finger jumps to the boy's profile and he sees the same photo. he scoffs at the cheesiness of it all, but his heart aches at the way all of your friends have commented on the post expressing their happiness for you. they had never approved of him for reasons he's only now beginning to understand.
you always defended him in front of your friends no matter what he did or didn't do. you'd "comfort" him after your friends said something snarky and explain that they just didn't understand him. you'd say that if they knew the real him, they'd see him differently. at the time, he'd scoff and say something along the lines of "i don't need for them to see me differently because i couldn't give less of a fuck about what they think." you'd be hurt, of course you would be, but you'd never say so.
more and more, like an outsider looking in, he can see just how awful he was to you. it's to his horror that he realizes this must be the case for you, too. the chances of you getting back together with him seem slimmer and slimmer, especially now that you've got that pretty boy on your arm. your words echo in his mind as if to haunt him: "what can i do to make you give a fuck about me?" leave, apparently, and don't look back.
he can't keep living like this.
-
a knock on your door is all it takes to ruin your night — you had actually had a really good day up until now. you and taehyun had gone on a breakfast date and napped together until he had to leave in the afternoon, so you're humming now in contentment while applying your nightly skincare, thinking relentlessly about the boy you think you might be starting to love. it feels different from the love you felt for beomgyu, but in a good way. you still think about him and wonder how he's doing, but you always derail that train of thought with a god-given force previously unknown to you. he doesn't care about you, you chant to yourself. it's almost like your daily mantra. in the midst of your thoughts, you hear a knock on the door. you smile widely when you surmise that it's probably taehyun again. you don't realize just how big your grin is until it drops.
standing before you is not your lovely boyfriend, but the man who made you question whether or not you were even lovable in the first place. he has a small smile on his face, and if you were to look a little more carefully, you'd notice that he actually seems a little nervous.
"hi," he says, breaking the silence. his heart was racing a mile a minute. potential scenarios battered his mind the entire way here. what would you do when you saw him? smile? he could handle that. cry? he could also handle that, even if he didn't want to see your tears. what he is not prepared for is the blankness of your features when you ask: "what are you doing here?"
his smile falters almost imperceptibly.
"i, uh. i just wanted to see you." you're merciful enough to give him a nod of encouragement to continue. "a-and i wanted to tell you that i haven't stopped thinking about you for the past few months. and that i think i'm finally ready to be with you," he finishes with a shaky breath.
you're quiet for a moment and squint your eyes as if you're deep in thought.
"but i thought you were dating someone now? your ex?"
"i'm not!" he says almost a little too quickly.
"i heard you were," you counter, not quite believing him. you heard he had been seeing his ex from one of your friends who happened to live in her apartment complex. she had seen his car in the parking lot a few times in the last couple of weeks and had no reason to lie to you.
"w-well, i've seen her a few times, but not seriously. i — to be honest, i was just trying to get over you. but i've finally realized that i can't becau—"
"so, just to make sure i understand, you're not over me so you're seeing her?" his eyes widen in shock before his head hangs in shame as he realizes exactly what he's done and how he must look to you right about now, but you're not finished. "isn't that what you were doing with me?" your voice is low and indifferent, but each word feels tailor-made to slash at his heart. "wow, i guess some things really never change, but don't worry, i'm sure once she moves on you'll finally see the good in her instead of me," you spit out.
"can you listen to me? please?" beomgyu is so ashamed he wants to die. he fumbles for the right words, but when he accidentally makes eye contact with you, they die on his lips. he wishes you would give him time to process what you were saying and mull over what to respond with because you always knew he was bad with words, but he supposes he lost the right to your patience a long time ago.
"you want me to listen to you so you can fuck with my head until the next person rolls around?" the latter words are strangled by the tightness in your throat and he can't help but wince. when he thinks it's over, you continue.
"nobody has ever made me feel as small as you have. i hated myself because of you," your lip trembles and before he can say a word, you're raising your hand to shut the door.
"wait, wait, wait! just let me say this," he pleads as he gently grasps the doorframe. "i... i love you." he almost thinks he hears you gasp, but he's too busy looking into your unreadable eyes to know for sure. he had never said anything like this to you before. you're completely silent for a few moments before breaking the tense atmosphere.
"j-jesus, i mean, i guess i just don't know what to say," you sputter and his eyes alight with what looks suspiciously like hope. "except maybe that... i'm sorry you feel that way?" you finish with a sardonic smile and a roll of your eyes. before he can respond, which he actually intends to do this time around, you slam the door in his face.
notes pt. 2: yeah... sorry ;-; i know this was a lot of background, but i felt it was necessary. also, if you didn't get the memo, there will be a part 3. stay tuned <3

"I'll Make You Bias Me"

Paring: Yeonjun x Bottom Fan!Reader
Genre: Smut
Summary: Yeonjun gets jealous that he's not your bias, so he takes matters into his own hands.
More: Masterlist
A/n: Bro, I can't stop thinking about Yeonjun's 3d cover. It's literally implanted in my head, and I love it.
At the TXT fan sign, Yeonjun couldn't help but notice Y/n. She was beautiful, with hair that seemed to dance in the air whenever she moved. Her eyes were such a pretty color, and her lips were just perfect. As Yeonjun handed her the autograph and poster, he couldn't help but think how hot she was. He smiled at her and whispered, "You're really pretty."
The words sent a shiver down Y/n's spine. She felt her heart race and her cheeks flush with excitement. "Thank you," she managed to squeak out, her voice barely audible over the crowd. Yeonjun grinned wider, enjoying the effect he seemed to have on her. "So, who's your bias?" he asked, teasingly.
Y/n blushed even harder, feeling a mixture of pride and nervousness. "Beomgyu," she confessed, looking down at her feet. As soon as the words left her mouth, Yeonjun felt a strange pang of jealousy. He didn't like the idea of her liking someone else. "I see," he said, trying to hide his emotions. "Well, maybe I can change your mind."He said with a sly smirk and a wink.
After the fan sign, Y/n made her way back to her hotel, not realizing that TXT's hotel room was just across the hall from hers. As she walked down the hall, she heard a commotion coming from the boys' room. Curious, she peeked her head around the corner and saw Yeonjun emerging from his room, looking frantic. "Y/n!" he called out to her.
She hesitated for a moment, her heart racing, before finally walking over to him. "Yes?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Yeonjun took her hand in his and pulled her into a supply closet nearby, shutting the door behind them. "If I'm not your bias," he began, his voice low and intense,
"Then I'll make you bias me."
Y/n felt a shiver run down her spine at his words. She could tell that he was serious, and that he wanted this as much as she did. As he stepped closer, she could feel the heat radiating off his body. He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her, their lips moving in perfect harmony. Her heart raced as she returned his kiss, her hands fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.
When they finally broke apart for air, Yeonjun looked at her with a smoldering gaze. "Now tell me, princess," he whispered huskily, "who's your bias now?"
Y/n couldn't believe what was happening. This was everything she had ever dreamed of, and more. As she looked up into his eyes, she could see the desire there, the need to be wanted. And in that moment, she knew that he was her bias now, and always would be. "You, Yeonjun," she managed to say, her voice barely audible even to herself. "It's you."
He smiled at her response, his eyes twinkling with amusement and satisfaction. Without another word, he reached down and undid the buttons of her shirt, revealing her lacy black bra. His fingers brushed against her bare skin, sending shivers through her body. "Then let me show you just how much I want you," he whispered before lowering his head to take one of her breasts into his mouth.
Y/n cried out, her back arching as she felt his tongue circle her nipple. His hands were everywhere, teasing and caressing her body, making her ache for more. She threaded her fingers through his hair, urging him on as he continued to kiss and suckle her breasts, moving lower and lower down her body. She felt his warm breath against her stomach, and then his hands were at her waist, unbuttoning her pants.
"Please," she moaned, her hips moving of their own accord, "please, Yeonjun." The feel of his fingers on her bare skin was driving her wild. She could feel the wetness between her legs, the ache in her core, and the need for him to touch her there. And when he finally slid his fingers into her underwear, she cried out in pleasure, arching her back even further.
"Now tell me," he growled, his voice low and husky, "tell me who you want right now, who you're thinking about." Y/n looked up into his eyes, her own filled with desire and love, and said the only thing that was true. "You, Yeonjun. I want you. I need you."
As he kissed her again, his fingers found her entrance, slick with her arousal. He thrust his middle finger inside her, filling her up in one smooth motion. She gasped at the feeling of being so completely taken, so owned by him. And then he began to move, his finger thrusting in and out of her in a steady rhythm, his lips trailing kisses down her stomach and toward her aching center. "That's it, princess," he murmured against her skin. "Just let go and feel it."
Y/n let out a moan as the pleasure built up inside her, the sensation of being so close to orgasm overwhelming her. "Y-You, Yeonjun," she managed to get out between gasps for air. "I'm… I'm so close… please…" He increased the pace, his finger digging deeper inside her, his lips brushing against her clit. She arched her back, her fingernails digging into his shoulders as the pleasure exploded through her, washing over her in wave after wave of ecstasy.
As her breathing finally began to slow, she looked up at him, her eyes filled with love and gratitude. "You did it," she whispered, a shy smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "You made me… you made me forget about anyone else." Yeonjun smiled down at her, his eyes twinkling with happiness. "I'm glad," he said, kissing her softly before pulling away. "Now, I think it's time we get some rest."
Y/n nodded, still giddy from the incredible experience they'd shared. As they made their way back to their separate rooms, she couldn't help but wonder if this was just the beginning of something truly special. Something that would last a lifetime.
Fic Rec of the Week
Hello everyone, and welcome back to the first fic rec of the week in a long time! I hope you enjoy my recommendations today! :)
under the sky in room 553 i discovered you and i by spellfire (Teen and Up Audiences)
Summary (borrowing author’s summary because I can’t put this beautiful masterpiece of angst into words) : “Have you ever heard about the origami hearts tradition in the hospital?”
Taking the heart, the child excitedly inspected it, nodding in glee. “Yes! My mama told me that when someone leaves the hospital to go to heaven, we all fold a paper heart for them! Like this, like this!”
“That’s right,” chuckled Soobin. “But do you know how it started? It started here, in this room. From a boy who used to fold a paper heart every day for his lost love, hoping each one he makes will take him closer to the day those eyes would open again.”
"Unfortunately for him, the day never came."
In other words, a hopeless love story of two childhood best friends who didn't realise what it meant to have each other until it was too late; compiled of yearning, loss, forlorn hope, unrequited love, and every tragedy in between.
Additional Tags: Angst(like really angsty), death, friends to lovers, unrequited love, flashbacks, hospitals, car accidents, suicide attempt, suicidal thoughts.
Personal Note: First, let’s welcome our very first TXT fic. Second, you might have seen this fic blowing up over tiktok, and let me tell you, it is so worth the hype. This fic almost made me cry, and it takes a lot to even make me almost cry. So yes, it’s very angsty, but I love it.

As easy as it was to say compared to real life, Choi Yeonjun was a wreck. A horrible, horrible and you must’ve forget to say- horrible wreck! That is including the duration of time before and after the second time you left.
How he roused one morning to you no where in sight after a vicious night of going out was something he deeply regretted. He would do anything to go back to that day, of course. He wasn’t sure about how you were doing, but jeez did he want to see those bright glints in your eyes whenever you saw him again. To see you smiling like nothing was wrong or giggling when he finally made ticklish contact on those sensitive places or even how you’d frown before him due to his carelessness. His mind drew him back to the ungodly hour of 4am when you scolded him for the scar on his arm he didn’t seem to realize until later and the way you made sure nothing else on his body was hurt. Yeah anyone could tell that didn’t go very well considering he was a boy and you were a girl, but that wasn’t the point!
In simple terms, he missed you more than anyone he’s ever laid eyes upon and the plain truth was that. You weren’t easy to be shaken off his mind after that ordeal of getting you to himself for one, final night. It hurt him most to see the disgusted expression on your face as if you were staring straight at a pile of elephant poop on the ground, not wanting to do anything with it because it was useless and foul. He couldn’t possibly make it your fault too, which meant he shouldn’t have been surprised. Breaking your poor heart by insulting you and taking you for granted, everything was wrong with him for thinking this way!
Whether he liked it or not, his heart said differently about this matter.

👉👈 how about soobin talking bad about his girlfriend without realizing she’s there?
oh my god yes this is one of my absolute favorite angst tropes of all time. this was kind of hard to write because it seems very... un-soobin? but everyone has their bad days and things they regret saying or doing.
you’re busy fumbling for your keys, hands laden down with plastic bags that are filled with food containers, when you hear him. a smile graces your features immediately as you hear your boyfriend’s voice, excited at the fact that you’re about to see him for the first time in a week.
you’ve had a rough day as it were, with having pulled a couple successive all-nighters to finish up an essay. that, and the cafe you work at had been absolutely inundated with customers today, and you feel as if you haven’t sat down in years. what you need more than anything is for soobin to wrap his arms around you and pull you into his chest, resting his chin on top of your head.
it’s a few more seconds until you finally find your keys. just as you go to open the dorm’s door, however, you hear something that stops you in your tracks.
“(name)’s just so... clingy,” soobin’s voice rings out clearly through the door, and you step back instinctively. your mouth dries out immediately, and you gulp heavily on impulse as if you suddenly don’t have enough air. he thinks that you’re clingy?
“doesn’t seem clingy to me,” yeonjun counters your boyfriend, and you hear someone - taehyun? - mutter something in agreement. “what’s with you all of a sudden? usually you can’t stop gushing over her.”
“she’s just been getting on my nerves lately, i guess,” soobin sounds annoyed at best and exasperated at worst. you can visualize it - his eyes rolling back into his head at the mere thought of you daring to love him, a hand coming up to push his hair back as if to show his irritation with you. he continues speaking, and your heart breaks with every word. “(name) doesn’t seem to realize that i’m my own person. hell, she texted me ten minutes ago that she’s getting us food, like i can’t get my own damn food. it was cute at first but seriously, it’s getting tiring. i wish she’d just leave me alone for good.”
that’s it for you - your breathing constricts itself, and you can hear your heart pounding in your ears. the need to be literally anywhere else consumes you all at once. you shove your keys back into your pocket unceremoniously before gentle setting the food down by the door. you hurry away, pulling your phone out to send a text as you do.
to: yeonjunnie
I left the food outside your dorm. I didn’t want to intrude.
the walls in their building are thin, and you hear yeonjun’s phone ping. you definitely hear his loud “oh, fuck, soobin,”, and you can hear the telltale rustle of him leaning over to show their leader the text you’d sent just as you get into the elevator.
soobin bursts out of their dorm just as the elevator doors begin closing, nearly tripping over the take-out at his feet. his eyes, dark with panic, worry, and what you hope is regret, meet yours.
it’s only after you let the doors close in his face that you let the tears fall.
it’s officially angst night! if you have angst requests please send them in <3
