Alright..... I borrowed something here. I'm pasting the whole thing because I want you to read it, and not have to waste time clicking a link, and I want you to THINK about it... PONDER, even. I think this is 100% spot on, and I also think it raises just as many questions as it answers, and I don't think enough people are talking about this...

Television streams are lit up with the continuing coverage and the audience is brought in live to the fight, despite the dangers and the military combat that is taking place throughout the area. Brave war correspondents are doing what they do, showing the public exactly what is happening on the ground as the fighting continues. Yet, the extensive footage triggers a reminder of something…. The war in Ukraine has been raging for 20 months, and not once, not even one single time, did we see simultaneous international war correspondents delivering their reporting, showing action on the front lines, donning their protective gear and taking the audience toward the battles in a similar fashion. The contrast between the War in Israel and the “War” in Ukraine could not be starker when viewed through the prism of what a real combat war looks like. Why is that? You know the answer to that question. You might not want to absorb the truth behind this stark reality, but the war in Ukraine is an intelligence war, a creation of the U.S. State Department, CIA, and allied intelligence networks. All of the information coming from the Ukraine War doesn’t come complete with accompanying war correspondents to give context to the statements made by the military officials on the ground in Ukraine, because there isn’t any way to connect to something that just doesn’t exist. The “War” in Ukraine is World War Reddit. A war carried out and advanced by the intelligence system that created it. As the night life and dance festivals in Kiev continue, it would be challenging for the international war correspondents, the actual media, to deliver broadcast ground reports from Ukraine without using green screens and fabricated livestreams. That’s why we have never seen them. The Ukraine War is an intelligence operation, and with it comes the need for high control over the propaganda to support it. It would be troublesome for those carrying out the Ukraine operation if people were brought into the “fight” by media. Worse still, it would be very challenging to retain support for an intelligence operation, if the American and global population realized it is propaganda. What are tankies?
They are the truly insufferable Online Leftists whose one and only political theory is "America is responsible for all the bad things in the world ever and no other country, government, or group of people has any agency at all, this is very progressive of me." If that sounds like a vast oversimplification, it's actually not. They have, at best, a middle school grasp of history, social studies, civics, politics, etc; it's like they learned about American imperialism in ninth grade and can't shut up about it or adapt any more nuanced or complicated view of the world. They are often also big fans of not voting and/or encouraging other left-leaning young people not to vote because in their view, the Democrats are as bad as or actually worse than the Republicans. Needless to say, the Kremlin is extremely vested in continuing to support and promote all of this.
I have likewise written posts about how the American left has a problem with denouncing Russia, since they still have an old-school, unreconstructed view of the USSR as the "triumph of socialism" and which is wrong on about 800 different levels. Tankies likewise tend to subscribe to old-school Marxism or Communism (you know, as if the entire twentieth century didn't happen) and have some jumbled Baby's First Commune idea of how society would work, thus revealing that they actually know nothing about globalism and capitalism while pretending to oppose both. They are often virulently misogynistic and think that race, gender, religion, etc are irrelevant; the only valid struggle is The Class Struggle. Some of them, particularly Glenn Greenwald and that horrible Briahna Joy Gray chick who used to work for Bernie and was a big proponent of "don't vote for Hillary Clinton because SCOTUS isn't important," have gone full-fledged Russian fascist cheerleaders, because Putin hates America, they hate America, and therefore they must be friends! Which, you'll note, is functionally identical to the GOP extreme-right Lunatic Caucus buddying up to Putin for the same reasons.
Anyway: tankies suck, they are wrong about literally everything, they're an insult to every actually progressive or historical-minded person with a basic grasp of reality, and the fact that their rhetoric has pervaded so far into young left-identifying political and social spaces, and is often taken as gospel by the members of those spaces, constantly drives me crazy. So yes.
Sometimes I wonder what a huge, incomprehensibly deep and wide rift is between a person with leftist views from the west that grinded in mud beside me in the trenches, sharing water and cigarettes, constantly frostbitten, harsh and aggressive for no reason, hardened by the deadliest war since iran-iraq massacre... and a spoiled creature living on the web in their den grinding not in mud but in noosphere's cesspit, spewing memes, joking about gulags and pol pot, asking stalin to come back, calling themselves 'communists' or 'marxism-leninists' or whatever their brainrot regurgitates. And these two people call themselves leftist.
I thought the web would be my shelter from reality which is currently a pure nightmare, but even here, in the most serene of social networks there are fucking imageboard-born wretches who are light miles away from actual reality. Actual reality is an 'utka' can in which the tied mad veterans in the hospital were allowed to piss in until sedatives kick in and the pacified berserker could be released. Actual reality is hospitals set in 1940-1950 era buildings because our country was turned into ruin and a colony by a superior power which tries to reassert it's control over us by any means imaginable, and we have no resources and time to rebuild and renovate and make our hospitals, clinics and everything of state inhabitable. We are a ruin fighting another, far more terrible ruin.
Actual reality is a letter from an anarchist in russian prison, RPG charged, craters after barrel artillery shelling, the black helmet of a ruskie Su-25 pilot who flew just above the pines where we started digging our positions, and I felt I looked him in the eyes when he turned right above us and we saw the cockpit clearly. The Young Communists League (YCL), a ratified club at Victoria University in BC Canada has been harassing Ukranian students and the Ukranian Student Society (USS) club members.
USS has repeatedly reported the behaviour to relevant university bodies and were told to "find middle ground" with their harasses.

This harassment by the YCL has been ongoing since 2018. Despite repeated reports, university admin have done nothing.
YCL members have approached USS tables and events, taking photos of other students then posting them on their social media with claims the are fascists.
They have also accosted and verbally berated Ukrainian students in person as well at events and vandalized their displays.

The USS has repeatedly clarified they do not wish to see the club banned or disbanded or challenge their ideological reasons, and only want the harassment to stop.
The university has finally released a statement. It basically just says harassment isn't allowed but outlines no specific actions on this matter.
Not only are Ukranian students not feeling safe now, on top of having family and friends experiencing war, this hate has had serious consequences as in the same area the home of a Ukranian priest and his family was set on fire.
This is not an isolated incident either. Similar harassment has been reported at several Canadian universities.

Ukraine voted to abstain from voting for protections of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations in Gaza. I’m not here to tell you whether it’s right or wrong that Ukraine didn’t vote, but what I will say is that if all sudden this vote by the Ukraine Government made you retract all support for Ukrainian civilians and believe that Putin should “blow Ukraine to pieces”. Then you are a piece of shit who’s entire ideology is performative and uncaring because you are unable to think more critically and use nuance in a situation, and would rather have innocent civilians just fucking die than understand the decisions the Ukrainian Government makes do not in any way determine the value of life each Ukrainian person has and does not mean that they all deserve to die.

Hey, remember the people who, at the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, were all over tumblr and twitter whining 'oh but why is Ukraine getting all this attention as soon as something happens to it while other suffering countries arent', while also completely unaware of the fact that the war had already been going on for 8 years at that point?
Well, the same people are now posting 'imagine the reaction if that happened to Ukraine!' [insert a thing that has, in fact, and still is happening to Ukraine, bonus points if accompanied by a war video actually taken in Ukraine but misrepresented as coming from a different country]. Which shows that even the full-scale invasion didn't make them pay a slightest bit of attention.
And, you know what, it's actually totally ok to care about one conflict more than another, so I'm not chastising anyone here for that. While, as a Ukrainian, I certainly care about the war in my country the most, I have no problem with people who feel more strongly about other wars. I understand they have their own reasons.
What is not ok is living nowhere near the places under attack, posting from the safety of your own (mostly western) home, and diminishing one war to show off how morally righteous you are about another. But those do not see us as real people, only a way to score some woke points anyway.
