Israel's response to the Oct. 7 terror attacks, which has killed thousands of civilians, may ensure the terrorist group's survival in Gaza.

I’m sorry if I’m taking over your post op but it kills me how this post pointing out Hamas’s cruelty gets like what 80 notes, while posts with blood libel and conspiracy theories around Jewish people and stanning Hamas get thousands upon thousands of notes, all agreeing with that sentiment. It is really is clear that the people on here don’t give two shits about the lives being lost in this conflict and are more interested in pushing their ideology and bigotry.

who the Fuck still supports Hamas?!

yesterday they taunted everyone with showing three of the hostages and letting the world know that today they would tell everyone about their fate. Today they informed that two of those three are dead, they killed them.

Can you even imagine what kind of torture that had been not only for those three, but for their families and friends? To show you someone you love, someone you pray to return to you, only to tell you that in 24 hours you will know if they killed them or not? How it is to find out that they are gone forever? How could you believe that any good person could do that to another person? How could it be okay for a "freedom fighter" to do that?

Or are you going with the "it's not true, it is israeli propaganda" shit again like you did with the hostages? Only to not say anything when it is proven - trough exchanging the hostages for actual criminals - that they in fact did have the hostages the whole time?! How can you believe every shit lie they tell, but when the same people over the same channels inform you over their sensless hate and horrific brutal actions you suddenly claim it to be a lie?!

How can you still defend Hamas after all these things? After you were proven again and again that they care about no ones freedom, that they are not just and over all not good?! How can you still claim to be for human rights? Against discrimination and hate and violence?! How dare you still claim that you are anything but a raging antisemite?!

You yell "shame on you" at family members of the hostages and random jews you see on the street. But they are not the ones that should be ashamed. You are.

Dear Free Palestine fans,

If you want to combat the inherent antisemitism in your ranks, don't say shit like "Israel wants jews to feel hated/unsafe". Israel didn't make you chant "Gas the jews" at Sydney hours after a bloody massacre of innocent civilians. Israel didn't make you celebrate and then deny the gruesome murders and mass rapes of men, women and children. Israel didn't make you carry Isis flags, or wear Hamas symbology and call Hamas freedom fighters. Israel didn't make you chant to globalize the intifada, to push 7 million jews and 2 million arabs into the sea, or one solution (how that last one did *not* remind you of Hitler's final solution I have no idea). Israel didn't make you excuse the slaughter and say that Hamas shouldn't be destroyed. Israel didn't make you rewrite Jewish history. Israel didn't make you attack and harass diaspora jews and bar them from using Cafe bathrooms (segregation much?). Israel didn't make you attack Jewish businesses. Israel didn't make you deny our right for self determination instead of advocating that both sides have a right to a state. Israel didn't make you call for a ceasefire WITHOUT the stipulation that Hamas stop shooting as well and release ALL the hostages, among which there is a 10 month old BABY and toddlers as young as 3 years old.

I could go on. Point is, Israel didn't make you do any of that. You did that. On your own. Take some fucking accountability and clean up your movement.

Lest we succumb to blindly reblogging tweets like the pro-Hamas people, I went and found some sources.

Here is the article linked in the tweet:

Gaza Health Ministry Cannot Provide Names for More Than 10,000 It Says Have Died
FDD
The Gaza Ministry of Health cannot provide names of more than 10,000 of the 34,000 individuals it says have died during the war between Isra

It says that the Ministry of Health has “incomplete data” for about 10,000 of their reported casualties. They haven’t specified why the data is incomplete. The article also sources this earlier article on the same website:

Hamas-Run Gaza Health Ministry Admits to Flaws in Casualty Data
FDD
The Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health said on April 6 that it had “incomplete data” for 11,371 of the 33,091 Palestinian fatalities it claim

The Ministry of Health is claiming to have gotten their data from “reliable media sources,” but won’t clarify anything else. That claim is sourced to this Wall Street Journal article, which I cannot read in its entirety because it wants me to pay for it:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/hamass-numbers-games-civilian-death-counts-casualty-data-b99140eb

Trying to find a link to a primary source for that roughly 10,000 number led me in circles for a while, but so many sources are claiming it that it feels a little more credible. In fact, NPR's article on the topic claims roughly 13,000 people have been "identified" this way!

Gaza's death toll now exceeds 30,000. Here's why it's an incomplete count
NPR
Gaza's health ministry announced Thursday that 30,035 Palestinians have been killed in the war. A close look at how the ministry counts thos

The original article is from Foundation for Defense of Democracies, which is a neoconservative publication that has been accused of having a pro-war and anti-Muslim bias. For our purposes, they seem to be critical of PLO leadership, but take all of that with a grain of salt because my source is the Criticism section on Wikipedia:

Foundation for Defense of Democracies - Wikipedia
en.m.wikipedia.org

In conclusion, Hamas has NOT claimed that they over counted or that their numbers are inaccurate (clearly), but it seems to be true that they did.

Footage Emerged From Gazan Journalist Nooh Al-Shagboni Of The Heroes Of The Civil Defense Rescuing A

Footage emerged from Gazan journalist Nooh Al-Shagboni of the heroes of the Civil Defense rescuing a number of children, women, and youth from under the rubble of a home bombed by the IOF in Gaza.

A 37-day-old baby named Salam (peace), born during the first days of the war amidst the bombing, was rescued after a four-hour-long operation, reborn from under the rubble after all thought she had been martyred.

Salam was the firstborn child of her mother and father, who both ascended to martyrdom as a result of the bombing.

A group of women seen through the window of a bus. Of the five visible in the front, the leftmost woman wears a white hijab, black underscarf and black clothes, second left woman leaning to her side wears pale grey hijab with dark grey clothes, the middle woman slightly behind with both arms up wears pink/light red hijab and clothes, second right woman who looks slightly older wears burgundy hijab with black clothes and a fuzzy light grey scarf, and the rightmost woman wears a black niqab that only shows her eyes. All except the second right are making victory signs or holding up fingers, seemingly about to make one as the picture was taken. Second right woman has her head tilted back a bit. All look happy. Photo is credited to Wahaj Bani Moufleh.

Hamas had command tunnel right underneath UNRWA Gaza headquarters.

Are we really surprised by this?

Honestly after seeing all the pink washing accusations against Israel I feel like people are becoming more comfortable being openly homophobic online again too.

I think you're right.

Fandom spaces may be one thing (I feel like you're referencing this post of mine, hence me bringing up fandom), but even those spaces aren't as welcoming as we want them to be. Most of the transphobia I've dealt with online came from self-identified trans people in fandom spaces, for example.

However, in this broader space where we discuss I/P, there is a huge uptick in homophobia, queerphobia, transphobia, etc. This is definitely coming from without the community in the form of tokenizing, objectifying, making unreasonable/unmeetable demands, insisting on the reality of a Queer Hive Mind, and the like. I've seen too much of right-wingers posting support for Israel who then slip poison pills about queer and trans folk into their rants to deny this.

But the call is also coming from inside the house.

The kind of LGBTQ+s who were comfortable with Punch A Nazi rhetoric (and are now, largely, part of the Queers For Palestine-style movement) now perceive many of their own community as Nazis. And if it's okay to punch a Nazi, it's even more okay to use slurs against them. To mock their bodies and their perceived ability to pass as cis or straight. To reject them just as hard as cishet society rejects them and laugh at them when they say they feel isolated and alone.

To deliberately trigger them and then tell them to commit suicide.

I have the extremely controversial opinion that these behaviors are wrong, and that it's bad to be homophobic/queerphobic/transphobic because bigotry is bad no matter who it's coming from.

Hey, hot take, but if a company decides they no longer want to distribute a piece of media they own the rights to, then they should be legally required to sign the rights back over to the creator.

They shouldn't be allowed to just sit on the IP for the rest of time, especially if they have no intention of ever releasing it again.

i went to a teach-in on gaza held at my university last year. the point was to give context to what’s happening for students who were likely getting all their information from social media. the (gentile) professor ended the lecture by saying, “if anyone tells you hamas didn’t do terrible things on october seventh, then they are a liar.”

the mood noticeably shifted. the audience was stunned. no one clapped or said a word for maybe five beats, and even then the clapping seemed reluctant.

i think that was about when i started stepping away from the pro-pal movement- this was before the encampments when most people were still pretending to care about peace and coexistence. but these people were shocked by being reminded that hamas was not guilt-free, they couldn’t fathom being told that no, being oppressed does not give you a free pass to rape, murder, and kidnap- and i realized we did not share the same hope for peace.

Ariel Gold was responding to the independent investigation conducted by Human Rights Watch - she dared to acknowledge October 7th was bad, provided with indisputable evidence, but of course condemning that day is never acceptable to the crowd she’s been trying to appease.

“it’s always these Jews.” “Jews should not be welcomed (in the movement).” it’s almost like the problem is…well, you know.
