You were now certain that Iso was a cat in his past life.
It was sometimes surprising how he could be a calm predator on the field and yet such a soft cutie patootie in the intimacy of your dorm room. His face buried in your chest as you were lounging on your bed, you could almost hear him purring as you were gently scratching his scalp.
What if you stopped your ministrations ? He would calmly grab your hand and put it back on the top of his head without even lifting his face from your chest.
So yeah, a cat.
You weren't complaining, though. These kind of moment was enjoyable. The quiet was soothing and enveloping the both of you in a warm embrace. And when you felt Iso's strong arms wrapping your waist in a soft grip, you knew he felt the same.
"You're adorable, you know that ?" You chuckled softly in his ear.
He just huffed, his breath warming the fabric of your top.
"Will you purr for me, kitty ?" You teased him.
Your teasing did not last long as he pinched your hips lightly, chuckling mischievously at your offended yelp.

Yoru found you annoying.
Why did you have to get so drunk ? You're even louder than usual now. He had to endure your irritating voice singing as he carried you on his back towards the dorm. He had to endure the sweet giggle escaping your lips every time he turned a corner. He had to endure the frustrating sensation of butterflies in his tummy when you nuzzled your face in the back of his neck.
Of course, he did not forget that your inebriated state was Jett's doing. But he could not help but think how stupid you were to drink that much even though you knew you were a lightweight.
When he finally put you in the warmth of your bed, he rolled his eyes at the sight before him.
You were drooling.
With an exasperated sigh and a scowl on his face, he wiped your chin clean and prepared to leave the room.
"Yoru."
He froze. You were only mumbling in your sleep, yet he could not stop the sigh of frustration from leaving his lips. He looked back at you, his cheeks slightly blushing, then tucked you in better.
He found himself ridiculous. Ridiculous for feeling that way towards you. Ridiculous for thinking you were cute. Ridiculous for caring that much.
He will definitely not forget to scold you in the morning while helping recover from your hangover.

Gekko and you had routines together : basking on the grass of the garden, watching movies while speaking about the plot, drawing together, cooking...
It was pretty common to see you two laughing together around the base. Jett and Phoenix were even betting on the potential date of the upgrade of your relationship.
So one would not be surprised seeing you in the kitchen, dancing in each other arms. You were supposed to bake midnight snacks, but the sweet voice of Ambar Lucid on her song 'Timeless' set the atmosphere. His arms wrapped tightly around your waist, yours around his neck and your hips swaying in harmony, one could not miss the chemistry between you two. Your eyes were communicating what words couldn't, the soft smiles you were sharing only confirming what you felt for each other. Your faces slowly got closer to the other.
"May I...?" he murmured gently to which you simply nodded.
His lips pressed gently on your cheek and your fingers clenched blissfully on his t-shirt at the contact. Gekko smiled and kissed you again, this time on the lips. You returned the kiss lovingly, your happiness merging with his.

There was something in Fade's focus that was so beautiful. The slight crease of her eyebrows, the concentration in her wonderful odd eyes, the precision in her hands... This will definitely not be the last time you asked her to draw with henna on your hands. The artwork she was making on your hand was simply too beautiful to be made only once.
"I know you're staring, tatlım." she said softly without even lifting her eyes.
You smiled softly, your eyes filled with adoration.
"I'm not staring. I'm admiring, that's different." you corrected her with a light chuckle.
She looked up from her art to fix her gaze on yours, an amused glint in her eyes.
"You're corny, you know that ?"
"I don't care." you shrugged nonchalantly. "You're worth being corny for."
Under the intensity of your gaze, Fade almost blushed. But she only returned your smile, shaking her head lightly with mirth. She lifted your wrist to press a kiss on it, her eyes not leaving yours.

Yoru loved riding his bike with you behind.
Feeling the wind on his skin, the warmth of your body against his back, your grip tightening around his waist during every bends and accelerations, everything felt perfect.
"Are you good back there ?" he asked at a red light, his hand reaching back to caress your knee.
"Yep !" you said with energy, playfully knocking your helmeted heads with his.
You only giggled at his grunt. The light turned green and he started the engine again. He enjoyed the illuminations of the city as much as your sighs filled with wonder. Yoru loved loneliness, but he wasn't against being alone with you. The lone wolf wasn't so lonely anymore, and he was fine with it. Sharing these moment with you melted his cold heart.
A gentle smile painted his lips as he accelerated, feeling your torso almost merging into his back.

"Could you give me a hug ?"
You raised your eyes from Dizzy nuzzled in your arms to look at Gekko. He was playing with Mosh who was bouncing in his hands. You looked around his room, met Wingman's eyes who shook his head, then looked back at the initiator sitting next to you.
"Huh ?"
His eyes never left yours and you noticed Mosh's focused on you.
"A hug," he repeated. "Could I have one, pretty pretty please ?"
You raised an eyebrow and kept caressing Dizzy who was slowly purring in your arms.
"We hug everytime and everyday, Mateo."
"No," he shook his head. "I always hug you and you accept it like a pet animal at the veterinary centre accept its fate."
You looked down for a second, thinking thoroughly about his words. He was right. You never initiated hugs, kisses or intimacy. You were okay with having physical contact with him and he was one of the rare people to have that right. But initiating never came to your mind.
"True," you murmured.
You looked back at him and he smiled gently at you.
"Do you wanna try ?"
His tone was warm and supportive, just like him. You nodded and settled Dizzy against the pillow of his bed. He put Mosh down, stood up and opened invitingly his arms. You looked at him and paused.
How were you supposed to initiate ? You knew you were supposed to just wrap your arms around him but where exactly ? Around his waist ? His neck ? His torso ? Were you supposed squeeze him ? If so, gently or tightly ? Were you supposed to pat his back—
"Hey," he interrupted your thoughts. "There is no good way to do it. It's just something that you do with your heart. And I know you have a big one."
You blinked and heard Wingman calling you. You looked behind and saw him hugging Thrash, as if setting an example. A small giggle escaped your lips and you stood up, looking back at Gekko. You took one nervous step towards him, as if testing the water and he just nodded, encouraging you.
You wrapped your arms around him. You didn't know in which way, and you did not care. You just pressed yourself against him. Your face hidden in his chest, your fingers clenched on his t-shirt before raising until caressing his nape.
"Am I doing good ?" you asked, your voice muffled by the fabric of his t-shirt.
"You're doing great," he murmured.
You felt him shivering against you. Your other hand gently squeezed his hip, the fabric of his t-shirt bending under your hand, the pads of your fingers grazing a bit of his skin. His chest raised shakily against your face and his breath hitched.
You looked up and saw him staring down at you. His face was red.
"Is everything alright ?" you asked.
"I'm doing perfect, cariño," he breathed out. "I should ask for a hug more often."
You took a step back but Gekko grabbed your waist.
"Your turn," he grinned. "Ready for one helluva hug ?"

Cypher knew everything about your life.
He knew where you were born, what day, what year. He knew where you grew up, with who and each big events of your life. He knew the identity of your parents and each one of your relatives. He could list every friend you had in your life. He knew each of your passwords and pin codes.
Yet, he had a lot of difficulties figuring you out. He knew everything about you, then how could he find you so unpredictable ?
"Checkmate."
You calmly took a sip of tea, your eyes never leaving his lenses. He knew everything about you, so why did he feel like it was the other way around ?
"Once again, you're surprising me, dear." he chuckled.
"Impressed ?" you hummed. "Good."
Your gaze was so heavy he felt like he was being unmasked. He felt naked. He felt like he was being scrutinized by a divinity.
"Another game, Prometheus ?" you smiled mischievously.
You rearranged the pawns on the board and he tilted his head, a trap wire traveling on his knuckles.
He chuckled, then invited you to make your first move with an elegant hand movement.
Cypher loved challenges, and you seemed to be the best enigma.

Jett was almost desperate. She was growing tired of your obliviousness.
It had now been a month (a MONTH) that she was trying to ask you on a date.
She already tried so much things.
Private shooting session ? Tried. You even asked her why she asked for help when her aim was pretty good.
Hand-in-hand combat tutoring ? Tried. Having you so close made her so flushed that Phoenix and Yoru didn't leave her back for a week.
Music recommendations ? You sent her three playlists. At least now, she had an idea of your music taste.
Offering you home prepared food or inviting you to a restaurant ? You were on a diet.
Dropping the subtility and being impatient and telling you directly that she wanted a date ? You gave her a basket full of fruits and date-palm seeds. You even asked Skye to help her, to which the Aussie initiator accepted with a laugh.
Asking you directly to be a couple ? You two were next assigned as a team for a mission.
"I want to be your girlfriend, goddamn it !" she finally snapped.
All the noises in the common room immediately stopped at her shout.
"That's sweet but, aren't we already friends ?" you tilted your head.
In the corner of her eyes, she saw Wingman facepalming. She also heard Phoenix snickering.
"I want to be more than that !" she insisted.
"Best friends ?" you hummed.
While she found you adorable, this situation was very infuriating for her. Jett gently took your hand and pull you closer.
"I want to hold hands with you, and maybe more. I want to kiss you."
Someone whistled in the room but she ignored the sound.
"On the cheek ?"
"The lips."
"Oh."
It took time, but it seemed like the information was finally reaching your brain. But a light frown was still on your face.
"May I ask why ?" you asked softly.
And Jett froze. Wasn't it obvious ? It now was. But did she had to say it out loud ? Her pride was chaining her. She did so many strategies to ask you out but did she ever try telling you her feelings ?
When she looked into your eyes, she didn't see any glint of judgement. Just a gentle patience that made her blush.
"I...might feel something for you."
"That's a good beginning." you nodded and then patted her head with a smile. "Do you want us to try something ?"
She nodded almost shyly, then heard cheering. All the agents in the common room were applauding and teasing her. She blushed but stayed focused on your eyes. They were still smiling. You gently squeezed her hand and gently led her out of the room.
"Anything you want to do ?" you chuckled. "Please be very vocal about it or I might not get it."
Jett blushed again. Being vocal about her feelings wasn't something she found easy. But with you, she might do some efforts.

"If I point a flashlight at you, would you disappear ?"
The three stripes on Omen face quivered slightly as he took your question in. He was used to your curiosity and it never overwhelmed him. There was something so innocent and gentle in your questions that made him feel warm. You never found him disgusting or scary. You were just curious.
"You know, since you're mostly made of shadows." you continued.
He put down the small shear that he used to trim the small bonsai tree and took a better look at you. Well, you supposed that he was looking at you better.
"Have you ever seen me disappear under the sun ?" he asked.
"No, duh !" you snorted. "You're not a vampire."
He watched you giggling, his head slightly tilted.
Ah, this warmth again.
Omen really enjoyed your company. It made him feel more alive, more stable.
"Shadows are more pronounced under intense light." he said simply.
He swore he saw your eyes shining.
"Does it mean that light can work like a boost for you ?" you asked, excitement clear in your voice. "Do you get stronger under the midday sun ?"
Omen made a sound akin to a very deep and soft laughter then shook his hooded head.
"I don't know."
"Let's find out !"
He let you drag him outside without much resistance, finding amusement in your eagerness. Your hand was so warm. It made something inside him flutter. He felt more alive in your presence and he certainly will savor these moments with you.

"Can you give sleep paralysis to someone ?" you asked, nibbling on a cookie. "And if so, can you make it positive ? Like a sleep paralysis demon squeezing you in a strong hug instead of choking the life out of you ?"
Fade sighed and looked at you with a raised eyebrow. She put down her book and took your words in. Spending time with you in her dorm room was her favorite moment of the week. Even though you always managed to catch her off-guard.
"Why do you always ask the weirdest questions at three in the morning ?"
You mischievously placed a cookie on her lips. Cookie that she immediately bit.
"I got my inspiration from the moon, I suppose." you giggled and took another bite of cookie.
"The moon ?"
"Yeah." you nodded, mischief still in your eyes. "Since I'm not on drugs. Well, I'm on you but I don't know if it counts."
Fade was still not used to your boldness. She found it endearing despite the fact that she never knew when you'd shoot a pick-up line at her.
"So, what about my question ?" you winked at her.
She blinked for a second then chuckled lightly.
"Sorry. I don't think I can do that."
You just shrugged and gave her another cookie that she casually accepted.
"Oh it's fine ! After all, I can still get hugs from you."
Yes, you were pretty bold. And Fade liked that personality trait anyway.

Right now, Gekko had to run for his life. Or his dignity. Or whatever.
No matter how tired he was, how his legs were hurting, how his lungs were begging him to take a break, he had to run and to keep this precious artifact he just acquired. It was way too valuable for him to just leave it. He shot a glance at Wingman who was perched on his shoulder. The little creature returned his gaze with a nervous chirp and, with a small wave, returned in the small carrier. He then looked nervously over his shoulder and let out a surprised yelp. If he did not accelerate, he would soon get caught.
"Just a small peek !" he tried to bargain, still running.
"No !" you roared, right behind him.
You kept chasing after him through the totality of the base, surprising and amusing more than one agent. He knew you had more stamina than him. He knew that you knew that he was about to flinch.
"Please !" he begged as he reached the garden.
Too late. You tackled him to the grass with a strength that took his breath away. He tried to wrestle against your grasp but you were too determined. You managed to pin him down and glared at him with a fierceness that made him flustered.
"Mateo Armendáriz De La Fuente."
Gekko swallowed hard. You rarely said his full name but when you did, it made him nervous.
"Yes, mi corazón ?" he said with a high-pitched voice.
You didn't fall for the endearing term.
"Give. It. Back."
He let out a small sigh, his fingers clenching around the small sketchbook.
"Please, cariño." he begged again. "Just a small peek."
You took your treasure back and held it against your heart as you released him from your grip.
"Nope. Too awful for the human eye." you shook your head. "I'll maybe show KAY/0 since he... Well, now that I think of it, his lense might melt."
Gekko shook his head.
"Don't sell yourself short. I saw some doodles you did the other day and they're so cool ! I'm sure your sketches are awesome."
The skeptical glare you shot him with saddened his heart. You sighed and stood up.
"Maybe one day." you muttered. "Then you'll be the second person to ever see my sketches."
"Second ?" his brows furrowed in confusion.
"Cypher probably already saw them."
He just nodded and followed you on your walk back inside.
What Gekko didn't know, was that he was your muse. You studied him like a believer worship a divinity. You drew many sketches representing him in various fantasies you were sometimes ashamed off, in many positions that made you feel giddy and with facial expressions that made you feel like the most sinful person on earth.
You just hoped Wingman did not snitch.

Neon loved running. It wasn't really a secret. The agents of the protocol was used to see her running around. 'Why aren't you walking ?' they would ask. 'Because I can run.' she would answer. The Filipino duelist was not only full of sass, but also full of energy. But when she wanted to rest, she loved the tranquility of her dorm room. Tranquility that she frequently shared with you. You took the habit of coming in her dorm room just to chill on her bed. So she wasn't really surprised to see you lounging on her bed when she came back of her jog.
"One day I'll charge you for using my bed so often," she laughed.
"That's fine," you answered casually. "I can pay you with hugs and kisses."
She felt lucky that you had your eyes closed or you would see the faint blush spreading on her cheeks. She smiled when you patted the space beside you, inviting her to join you. She complied and you immediately nuzzled your face in the crook of her neck.
"You know that I can zap you, right ?" she said.
"I wouldn't be here if you hadn't already." you sleepily muttered against her skin.
She enjoyed the comfort of your embrace. She enjoyed taking a break from the constant race that was her life in your arms. And she was okay with it.
Neon loved running, but you were the only one who could stop her. The only one who could make her heart running faster than her feet.

Yoru was a grumpy guy. That was a fact accepted by everyone. You were already used to see him rolling his eyes or huffing in annoyance. It was part of his character and it amused you. But you soon discovered that Yoru was worse when he was sick.
"Told you to cover yourself better for that mission, silly," you sighed.
"Shut up." he coughed.
Sage had given you strict instructions to help taking care of him. The poor duellist caught a very nasty cold that pinned him to bed. He could not move without having striking muscular pain, he had a severe fever that made him sweaty and blushed his skin like you've never seen before and he had a sore throat that made his voice hoarse.
"You need to eat first before taking these medicines," you explained gently as you wiped the sweat off his forehead. "I brought you soup. Easy to swallow and warm for your throat."
He sat up, a grimace on his face, and winced when he reached for the bowl. You could read on his facial expression all the pain his body was putting him through.
"I can feed you if you want."
If you weren't used to his antics, the glare he shot you with would have killed you. He was about to throw a snarky remark but his throat interrupted him with a wet cough. Shrugging, you presented the spoon to his lips.
"Aaaah."
You were only amused by the offended look he had in his eyes. If anything, you were basking in the heat of his glower. What he would not admit, was that he was very grateful for your presence and help. You did not leave him alone, you took care of him and that was enough to make his cold heart melt.
"I'll draw you a bath, later," you murmured when he finally accepted the spoon in his mouth. "The warmth of the water should soothe your muscle pain."
Yoru was too prideful to admit out loud that your warmth was enough. Too prideful to admit that beneath his grumpy exterior, he was thankful to have you with him. He was already bathing in your care and he was silently grateful for that.

Sova loved the archery. The sensation of the bow bending to his strength, the sound of the arrow piercing the air, the satisfaction of seeing his target hit. You preferred knife throwing. The comforting weight of your blade in your hand, your muscles flexing around you weapon, the release after you threw it.
And you two loved each other and wanted to understand your partner better.
"Sova darling, your bow definitely hates me," you groaned.
Manipulating a bow demanded more strength that you initially thought. The bowstring was capricious between your gloved fingers and the arrow refused to stay in place. Sova definitely made it look easy.
"Knives definitely suits you better than it does to me, моя сова." he chuckled.
His hands were clumsily manipulating and dropping your knives. You giggled and grabbed his hands gently.
"Here, let me show you." you giggled. "Then you'll teach me archery, okay ?"
He nodded smiled and melt into your touch, admiring your skills and how the weapon seemed to obey each movements of your fingers.
It seemed like you two found a new way to spend some quality time.

Fade sometimes thought you were a dream. You, embracing her and rocking her in a soothing way, cooing and murmuring sweet words in her ear. She did not believe for a moment that this moment was real. It was way too sweet, way too gentle, way too warm. She was used to cold nightmares crawling slowly on the skin of her neck and suffocating her with a harshness akin to a monster.
You, in the other hand, offered your warmth without hesitation. You invited her in your arms, lulled her with soft words, cradled her in your love.
"Am I dreaming ?" she murmured.
You chuckled softly, your fingers scratching her scalp.
"Of course not," you murmured back. "You won't wake up from this."
Fade sighed in delight against your chest as you kept her in a cocoon of warmth and love.
"I love you, aşkım."
"Me too," you whispered. "As long as I am with you, no nightmare will take you away."

"You look so pissed," you snorted. "Not so fast anymore, huh ?"
And Neon did indeed look annoyed. The embarassed scowl on her face as she had difficulty staying put on her legs made you chuckle softly. She was clinging to you, her fingers clenching your top in a desperate attempt to keep her balance.
"Stop laughing," she hissed.
The scowl on her face deepened when your laugh boomed across the ice rinks, your chest shaking against hers. You started to drag her across the ice, your grip tightened around her waist as she squealed in panic.
"Don't let me fall !"
"Never," you reassured her.
She admired how at ease you seemed on the ice. She discovered an aspect of your personality that she loved so much. You were more confident on the ice, graceful, calmer. She felt so clumsy in comparison. You were the soft breeze caressing the ice and she was the inelegant flicker you were waltzing with, taking her away in your gentle squall.
"You didn't tell me you liked ice skating," she said.
You looked at her and tilted your head slightly, watching her uncoordinated body movements with a loving amusement.
"Well, since you introduced me to your passion for race and jog, I thought it was only fair to initiate you to the ice," you led her during a bend, grinning when she clung more to your chest. "I admit that it is also a revenge for all those time you mocked me during our jog."
Neon clicked her tongue in annoyance and tensed once more when you spinned with her in your arms.
"Don't pout," you smiled and pressed a soft peck on her cheek. "At least you have an excuse to cling onto me."

"I want to be your boyfriend."
You already knew Iso was full of surprises, but nothing could have predicted the pure and raw shock painted all over your face. It took your brain ten seconds to register the information and fully comprehend his sentence, fifteen for your eyes to blink again, twenty to close your dropping jaw and thirty to finally ask:
"You what ?"
His face was as stoic as ever as his beautiful eyes bored into yours. He stood tall and right in front of you in all his casual badassery while you knew you were being ridiculous with your jaw dropping again.
"I want to be your boyfriend," he repeated.
He was so serious right now. More serious than you've ever seen him on mission. And you did not know it was possible until now. He did not move and just waited for your answer. But you could not answer, the whiplash of his words was too violent. It took a complete minutes for your voice to come back and you internally thanked him for his patience —you did not know if it was patience, just his usual and casual stoicism or a silent mix of both.
"Why ?" you finally asked, your voice sounding like a croak to your ears.
"Because I love you," he answered simply. "I love these moments we spend together after training sessions, I love talking to you and talking with you all night in the garden made me realize that I have feelings for you."
"Well shit," you thought.
You internally swore his straightforwardness would kill you one day. His feelings were not one-sided. You had fallen for him a long time ago. Who wouldn't have ? His attractive appearance and his sweetness hidden under layers of solid forbearance made you ridiculously fall for him. You would have never thought that he would love you too.
"I maybe read the signals wrong," Iso said, his shoulder slightly deflating.
"Huh ?"
"I thought you felt something for me too."
Of course he noticed. He was one of the most observant people you knew.
"I do ! I really do !" you affirmed. "But it's...it's just..." you took a deep breath then looked at him in the eyes. "It's so sudden ! I think we're skipping some steps."
You noticed the faint spark appearing in his eyes and his shoulder straightening again (seemed like you were also observant) as he took a step closer.
"Noted," he nodded. "How about a date to take things slow ?"
You blinked and felt your jaw dropping again.
"A date ?"
He nodded again and you saw a hint of a smile on the corners of his lips.
"O-Okay," you stuttered and cleared your throat. "Just tell me when and-and I'll prepare and wait for you."
Iso took another step closer.
"After tonight's training. Sounds good ?"
You only nodded and he smiled almost shyly.
"Cool. I'll pick you up in your dorm room."
And just like that, he walked away. You took a deep breath in a vain attempt to calm your racing heart. You were too focused on your own breathing to notice Iso clenching his hoodie as he turned around a corner. His breathing was quick but his heart quicker. He hadn't felt this nervous in a long time.
"哎呀 !"

"Thanks again for the braids."
Astra's fingers kept dancing in your hair with swift but expert movements as she stood behind you. You internally wondered how she managed to manipulate your hair so easily with her prosthetic arm. Her eyes were slightly squinted in concentration but her facial expression remained welcoming. Your gazes met through the looking glass and you shared a smile.
"No problem !" she smiled. "Told you that this hairstyle was more convenient for missions."
"True," you nodded. "Since you styled my hair for that mission a few days ago, I think I adopted that hairstyle. No more hair in my face while aiming nor any Omega bastard yanking at it."
She finally finished her arts on your head and looked at the result with a proud smile. You returned her smile and moved your head to admire your new hairstyle.
"Castor oil really did some miracle on your hair," she hummed, her hands gently squeezing your shoulders. "They seem longer and healthier."
You relished on the feeling of her touch and your smile widened slightly.
"Yep ! I didn't forget the olive oil either, don't worry."
You leaned back in your chair and nuzzled the back of your head against her torso.
"Thanks again, Efia," you murmured.
A thank for taking care of you and for this moment of bonding.
Astra looked down and directly looked at you in the eyes and you could feel her affection more intensely.
"Once again, there is no problem."

"I wish you to drown in an ocean of rubber," you hissed, an inferno of rage burning in your heated glare. "I wish you to run endlessly in a wheel like a hamster just to charge a complete apartment complex for three entire nights."
Neon just rolled her eyes and sighed, unimpressed by your words. She leaned back more comfortably in her chair then looked at you gritting your teeth.
"You just have to pick two more cards," she said while taking a bite of her snack. "Don't be so dramatic."
Playing Uno was a dangerous game. The atmosphere was thick with tension : any word or action and the temporary calm would make way for a rageous storm. And unfortunately for the whole base, you were a petty individual.
Neon gasped, her eyes widening in offense as she watched you lay a cruel card on top of the pile.
"How dare you !?" she said, the lights of the room flicking slightly.
"You just have to pick four more cards," you answered with a smug smile. "Don't be so dramatic."
She stood up abruptly, statics and sparks of electricity dancing around her.
"Take that card back !" she barked.
You stuck out your tongue and winked smugly at her.
"I can't. You know the rules, sweetheart."
The electricity of the whole dormitory quarter suddenly shut down. The emergency LED quickly turned on as you both heard Brimstone shouting both of your call signs. Neon and you winced.
"How many board games did he confiscate already ?" she asked.
"I think with this one, it'll be seven."

There were days when you felt unattainable, when you felt like nothing could surprise you. Today was definitely not one of these days. Your jaw dropped at Yoru sudden but simple request :
"Kiss me."
Well, it was technically more of a command than a request but your brain was lagging too much by its sudden abruptness to notice. After a few seconds, your brain activity started again and you noticed the silence in the common room that followed his request—command. There was a certain determination in his eyes that you did not miss as well as the tension in his posture and his clenched jaw. His ego was hurt.
"Yoru," you sighed. "Ryo, my spiky blue rift-walking grumpy cat... what happened ?"
You face slowly turned towards Jett as your question left your lips. Your eyes narrowed on her as she avoided eye contact. Your gaze then fell on Phoenix who nervously looked away. What did these two do ? A bet ? Something that clearly hurt him, which led his ego to intervene in order to protect his heart.
"Or let me kiss you," he added, his eyes not leaving you.
Your gaze looked back at him as he took a step closer. He wanted a kiss. In front of the other agents. A kiss ? He hated PDA, something was fishy.
"Please ?"
Now that was even more fishy. He usually asked 'please' with his eyes and a waiting facial expression, not vocally. Humming softly, you sent a narrowed glare at Jett and Phoenix, grabbed Yoru's wrist and dragged him in the corridor without forgetting to close the door behind you.
"Now, can you tell me what's happening ?" you asked gently.
He stayed quiet as he leaned against the wall, crossed his arms while looking away, a frown on his face. He seemed like he did his best to avoid your eyes. But you knew better. You knew he was hurt.
"Is it something Jett or Phoenix told you ?" you took a step closer. "Should I punch them ?"
Yoru sighed as he let his arms falling to his sides.
"Am I a good boyfriend ?"
Your eyebrows raised in surprise as you blinked at his sudden question.
"What ?"
"Do you think I'm a good boyfriend ?"
For the first time since you met him, you heard a crack in his usually confident voice. Despite the facade he was putting, he looked so fragile.
"You always say that I'm grumpy and that I have a big ego," his eyes still refused to meet yours. "PDA makes me uncomfortable and I'm not good at expressing my feelings vocally. Aren't you tired of me ?"
You stared silently at him. Then after a few seconds, you stepped closer and pinched his cheek.
"Silly," you said gently. "Would a bad boyfriend ask me this ?"
You pinched his other cheek and pulled him closer. He let you do it, his eyes finally landing on you.
"You are grumpy, cocky and sometimes so full of shit," you cupped his face and soothed his cheeks with your thumbs. "You also listen to me ranting, support me on anything I do, protect me during missions and show me that you care in so many ways." You gently rubbed your nose against his and smiled gently. "Ryo, you're a man of action. What you can't say in words, you often say it through your actions and it feels so much more powerful than words... So no, I am not tired of you and I never will. Now that we're together, your grumpy ass will not get rid of me so easily."
You booped his nose and chuckled when he scrunched it. He suddenly hugged you, burying his face in the crook of your neck and you heard him muttering something in his native language. You caressed his nape then gently pinched it.
"You're insufferable, you know that ?" he huffed against your skin.
"Deal with it."
He finally released you and it was his turn to pinch your cheeks, his teasing and confident smile back on these lips that you kissed so many times.
"Ow !"
"You didn't think you would pinch me without any consequences, did you ?"
You scrunched your nose then grabbed his cheeks to gently squeeze them, making him pursing his lips in a ridiculous and exaggerated way.
"I love you too."
He raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Instead, he just pressed a quick but loving peck on your lips. You didn't mind his silence. You will wait until his ready to use words. You almost missed the light blush coloring his skin.
"I'll still have a serious conversation with Jett and Phoenix though," you added and Yoru only rolled his eyes, knowing that he couldn't stop you.
