Some ideas I've been thinking about about Avatar the Way of Water and Avatar by itself

Are there Na'vis who are from the deep seas of Pandora?

I was thinking about making a Na'vi (avatar), with tulkum DNA, but I don't know.

Is there a creature that resembles a leviathan in the Avatar universe?

Hmmm, are there also sea creatures that resemble: Octopus, Shrimps, fast fish, and also colossal squid...

Imagine how big a Na'vi tulkum would be? They would be huge (in my headcanon, they would be 305cm

And if I made a tribe of marine avatars, in which they had abilities of each marine creature... I just don't know which creature (the hybrid part) of him would be.

Does the Ash tribe have an animal that swims (or walks) on volcanic rocks?

Does obsidian stone exist and is it used in the Avatar universe? (Mainly in confectionery and weaponry) (I support the idea of @sullyfortress )

Will Varang be tall? (I would love for Varang to be like, giant height, being 277cm, she would be my tall waifu XD, although every female Na'vi is tall XD)

Will Spider have more connection with Eywa and will Neytiri accept him?

Would it be "bizarre" to make an Avatar (Na'vi) leviathan hybrid, who has more attributes enhanced than about 10 adult Na'vis (men)

Would it be weird or cool, an android Na'vi? :0

(a bit of a silly idea, but imagine a Na'vi robot, in the middle of the tribes, just gathering information, and then the humans BOOM, come and attack)

Would it be strange to mix DNA from terrestrial animals with DNA from Na'vis (Avatars)? I think maybe I'll do that(It's a bit of a "furry" idea, but I don't know, technically it would be cool, I will definitely mix Na'vis Avatar DNA with Big Cat DNA because I want too)

Okay but... Imagine "Super Soldier" Avatars (with DNA from some creatures, for example: Na'vi with snake DNA, making them see in thermals, and other animals... Wow....)

Maybe (just my idea) make one Avatar(with Na'vi DNA of course), with the DNA of a big cat (I'll still decide which one it will be), but think about it, think of a Na'vi, with the DNA of a jaglion for example, a black jaglion, having the strength, speed, agility and camouflage of that feline... WOOOOOW :O

Do you think Varang and Quaritch will have a romantic relationship in Avatar 3? And if so, what do you think Varang's attitude and feelings towards Spider might be?

That's a great question. I see two possible outcomes with Varang's character:

She's so evil even Quaritch is scared of her. Varang's villainous actions are so serious that it acts as motivation for Jake and Quaritch to team up to work against her. This one idea is definitely possible since there's a BTS image (below) where it looks like Varang has captured the Sully children and Spider and Quaritch is possibly negotiating with her. There's also the leaked script. On one page, Jake and Quaritch are having a civil conversation and Spider is sleeping nearby, implying that something big must've happened to force them to put aside their differences for the kids. That something could've been Varang. And one of the blurrier pages vaguely looks like it has dialogue of Varang threatening Quaritch, so she could definitely be an antagonist to him.

OR she ends up being a foil for Neytiri and she teaches Quaritch the ways of the Ash People and they end up falling in love. This one is also possible since there's also BTS footage of Quaritch wearing Ash People clothing, which would imply he's been accepted by them, and since Varang is their leader and has been hyped up as an important character, she would be directly involved in that. It's also possible the BTS image below is actually Varang and Quaritch working together, and Quaritch is thanking Varang for helping him get Spider back and recapture the Sully kids as hostages. There were many moments in The Way of Water that painted Quaritch as a foil to Jake (waking up in a new body, taming an ikran, etc) and having Quaritch undergo a similar experience of falling in love with a Na'vi who teaches him about her people would extend that foil even further.

Do You Think Varang And Quaritch Will Have A Romantic Relationship In Avatar 3? And If So, What Do You

Or heck it could be some combination of both. Maybe she starts out as a villain to Quaritch but they have an enemies-to-lovers arc, or they could have a dark version of JakexNeytiri, where Quaritch was sent to infiltrate her tribe, they fall in love, but unlike Jake, Quaritch chooses to betray them in the end, breaking her heart.

It's really too early to tell!

At worst, Varang would see Spider as nothing more than a useful hostage, a way to get Quaritch to do what she wants. At best, if she and Quaritch actually do develop romantic feelings for each other, she would see how important Spider is to her mate and want to be a "step mom" figure to him. It would be pretty easy for her to fill in that role since Spider doesn't have a healthy relationship with any living adult woman in his life, but there's no doubt Spider would reject her the way he rejected Quaritch out of loyalty to the Sullies. If Jake actually meant his "a son for a son" line and he takes Spider in in Avatar 3, I could even see Varang convincing Quaritch to accept Spider's choice to stay with the Sullies and let him go. (and maybe give him a new son lol)

I'm honestly hoping for Varang and Quaritch to be romantic, mostly because I think it would be funny. I've already jokingly compared Quaritch to Omni-man, so I'd love an excuse to draw this Invincible panel, but with Varang, Quaritch, and Spider:

Do You Think Varang And Quaritch Will Have A Romantic Relationship In Avatar 3? And If So, What Do You

TLDR: We have next to no information on Varang, so she could be any one of these ideas or none of them. James Cameron has hyped her up as an important new character, so whatever she ends up being, I'm sure it will be really interesting!

GIRL WHAT??? WHERE IS THIS??? DID I MISS SOMETHING OMG IM SO LOST HELP

girl you missed a lot of somethings! But it's cool, I'll catch you up to speed on all the leaks. It's a little late at this point, but 🚨SPOILER WARNING FOR AVATAR 3🚨

Varang using kuru mind-control: @spider-socorro-stan was able to make out some of the very blurry writing on this script page that was accidentally shown in BTS footage. As far as they could tell, the first line says "Varang wills Quaritch's arm to... bulging, as his hand opens and he..." which makes it sound like she's controlling him somehow. This led people to speculate that Varang might use tsaheylu to control others. Out of all the "spoilers," this one has the least amount of evidence supporting it so take it with a grain of salt.

GIRL WHAT??? WHERE IS THIS??? DID I MISS SOMETHING OMG IM SO LOST HELP

2. Norm taken prisoner by the RDA: in this BTS image, two Na'vi in Ash attire stand with another Na'vi wearing an orange prison jumpsuit in the RDA control room. A lot of people believe that it's Quaritch and Wainfleet taking Norm prisoner.

GIRL WHAT??? WHERE IS THIS??? DID I MISS SOMETHING OMG IM SO LOST HELP

3. Neytiri also in Ash People clothing: in this BTS image, Jake stands next to a Na'vi woman wearing Ash People attire, with Spider wearing... whatever the fuck that jumpsuit thing is in the background. It's hard to tell with her face hidden, but most people think the woman is Neytiri based off her height, build, and proximity to Jake.

GIRL WHAT??? WHERE IS THIS??? DID I MISS SOMETHING OMG IM SO LOST HELP

4. The betabridge: this is the spoiler we have the least information about. According to the leaked script, right after Jake and Quaritch have their civil conversation while Spider is breathing the air, Quaritch leaves them (probably scared cause Neytiri showed up lmao) and flies back to Bridgehead with Wainfleet. There, they witness a massive machine that looks like "an oil rig crossed with a nuclear reactor." It lets out a loud noise and Wainfleet remarks that it is working now. We have no other information on what the Betabridge is other than what it looks like, but if it was built in Bridgehead, it can't be good for the Na'vi. Here is a transcript written by twitterX user AkumuHoshi based on what they could read:

GIRL WHAT??? WHERE IS THIS??? DID I MISS SOMETHING OMG IM SO LOST HELP

@spider-socorro-stan also has a nice guide to all the script leaks pinned on their blog if you want to read more!

I wonder if the treatment of Sully's kids and Spider will be different during captivity. I can just see Quaritch trying to make Spider as comfortable as possible, trying to feed him the "homemade" food from the previous post while Lo'ak and Kiri are in the most uncomfortable position on the ground and getting some leftovers or nothing at all 💀

Spider squirmed uncomfortably against the thick rope binding his wrists together— and then immediately felt guilty for it. Across from him, Kiri and Lo'ak were bound with their wrists and ankles twisted awkwardly behind their backs, sharp rocks digging into their knees. Tight gags bound their mouths shut, so their communication was limited to terrified looks whenever they made eye contact. Half-dried blood oozed from cuts they’d gotten during their capture. Spider didn't have a right to complain about his wrists, not when his friends were hogtied like yerik carcasses ready for the cookfire. He wasn't even sitting on the rocky ground; a soft, woven mat beneath his knees protected him from the cold floor of the cave they were kept in. A part of Spider wondered why their captors would treat a full-blooded demon more gently than two half-breeds, but that question was ignored in favor of trying to figure out what the hell was happening.

Around them, strange Na'vi with pale blue skin and black war paint moved around the cave, preparing weapons and other supplies. If Spider had to guess, he'd say this was a war party from an unknown tribe, but unfortunately, he didn't have enough information to guess what they were doing so close to home, and more importantly, why. Normally, the sight of a Na'vi war party, even an unknown one, would've been good news, but the fact that these people had kidnapped him and his friends gave him the sneaking suspicion that these warriors weren't here to help Jake fight the RDA. Even more worryingly, Spider spotted human-made guns and grenades amongst the supplies the warriors were moving around, meaning someone had taught these people how to use Sky People weapons.

The sound of voices made the three of them look up. On the opposite side of the cave, two new Na'vi entered the war camp, and the way the other warriors gathered around to greet them respectfully told Spider they must be important. One was a female Na'vi with the same pale blue skin as the others. Even from across the cave, Spider could make out the ornate red headdress and intricate paint patterns she wore, marking her as high status; a tsahik or olo'eykte. Her companion was dressed in much plainer clothing by comparison; the same loincloth and simple paint design all the others wore. However, no amount of unfamiliar paint and regalia could hide the familiar blue stripes of a forest Na'vi. Spider exchanged a confused look with Kiri and Lo'ak. What was a forest Na'vi doing with these strange warriors?

The female leader addressed her warriors calmly while the forest Na'vi stood rigidly at her side, his tail lashing in clear agitation. Then, one of the warriors pointed towards the spot where Spider and his friends were tied up. Before the warrior even finished raising his hand, the forest Na'vi made a beeline right towards them.

Spider hissed through his teeth. There was something eerily familiar about the way the Na'vi stormed in a straight line towards his destination without caring if he got in the way of others. Slowly, Spider shook his head. The human weapons, taking Kiri and Lo'ak hostage while treating Spider with kid gloves... In his gut, he already knew who it was, but his mind wasn't ready to accept the ugly truth yet.

"Spider!" It wasn't until the Na'vi— no, the recom, yelled his name that he was forced to face the truth. There was no mistaking that low drawl.

"Quaritch," he didn't whisper it so much as soundlessly mouth it when the man skidded to a stop in front of them. The confrontation he'd been dreading for months was finally here, and he had no one to blame but himself. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see matching expressions of horror on Kiri and Lo’ak’s faces. The monster from their nightmares was standing right in front of them, and they had no idea it was Spider’s fault. Lo’ak tried to say something, but it was muffled through his gag. He strained against his bonds, tail lashing furiously, and Kiri pressed her shoulder against him in a weak attempt to soothe him. Thankfully, Quaritch ignored them, and instead knelt before Spider.

Spider tried to shrink away from him, but there was nowhere to go. Quaritch took him by the shoulders and gently turned him this way and that, eyes and fingers roving over his body and his exopack for any sign of damage.

"You good, kid?" He asked, lightly tugging Spider's arm so he could get a better look at a nasty scratch he'd acquired when the strange warriors had abducted them. Once Quaritch determined the scratch wasn't life threatening, his ears sagged in relief and he clapped Spider on the shoulders.

"Yeah, you're good, you're good," he answered his own question in a low mutter, more to himself than to Spider. A low, relieved chuckle escaped his lips, and then he smiled. Spider could count on one hand how many times he'd seen Quaritch smile, and most of the time it was more of a cruel grimace than a smile. This look was different— it was genuine. He smiled down at Spider like this was the best day of his life. No one other than Kiri had ever looked at him like that, and it made him want to burst into tears and attack him and bury his head in his chest all at once. Instead, Spider did nothing but return his look with a baleful stare.

Quaritch tentatively reached out like he was going to cup Spider's face in his hand, but Spider bared his teeth and jerked his head away. To his relief, Quaritch let him go. His smile turned slightly sad, but also unsurprised at the aggressive reaction.

"Ma Kwarit." Spider looked up as the leader of the warriors approached them. It took him a moment to realize "Kwarit" was her attempt at pronouncing Quaritch's alien name. The woman stared down at him with an unreadable look on her face. Her eyes were somehow both hot and cold; bright orange-gold like a fire, but there was no warmth behind them. Spider glared back at her with the fiercest look he could muster, and clenched his hands to stop them from shaking.

"Varang, I apology for running." Quaritch greeted her in broken Na'vi.

The woman, Varang, waved away his apology dismissively. "These children, they are the ones you sent my warriors to look for?"

"Yes. My son," Quaritch patted Spider on the shoulder with one hand before gesturing at Lo'ak and Kiri with the other, "and children Toruk Makto. Your warriors is good."

"They are the best," Varang agreed. She didn't sound boastful when she said it, as if she were simply stating an immutable fact. Her fiery cold eyes roamed over Lo'ak and Kiri, taking in their half-breed features, before coming to a stop on Spider. It was a challenge to hold her gaze without flinching, but he did his best to meet her eyes with a steady glare.

After a long moment of analyzing Spider's face, she said, "I do not see you in the face of your son, but I see your fire in his eyes."

To Spider’s mortification, Quaritch chuckled at that and ruffled his hair. “Yes, he gets from me.”

Spider hissed at him and jerked away as hard as he could. He ended up accidentally scraping his injured arm against the rock wall and his angry hiss turned into a grunt of pain.

“And when he becomes angry, he is so determined to get his way that he will hurt himself in doing so. That is something else he has in common with you,” Varang observed, the barest hint of a smile twitching at the corner of her mouth.

This time, when Quaritch laughed it was slightly more forced. “He need medicine. Call healer. And food.”

“My healers have never helped a Sky Person before. They could harm him as easily as heal him. The same can be said of our food.”

“Son is smart. He know what help and what hurt Sky People. He know what to eat.”

“Wait—” Spider interrupted, and he found himself pinned under Varang’s intense hot-cold gaze once more and it almost made him lose his nerve. “I see you, Varang.” He greeted her as best he could with his hands tied. “My friends also need food and medicine. Please.”

Varang’s hairless brow raised a fraction of a centimeter. “He speaks better than you do, ma Kwarit.”

“That’s because I taught him to speak. And I can tell he hasn’t been practicing.” Spider added.

Varang exhaled heavily through her nose, which was probably the closest thing to a laugh he’d get from her. That was a good sign. Something Spider had learned during his captivity was that it was always better to get on the good side of those who had power over you. It had worked with Quaritch— maybe a little bit too well considering how things turned out.

“Please?” Spider asked Varang again hopefully.

Varang turned to Quaritch, and to his dismay, he realized she was leaving the decision up to him.

Quaritch eyed Lo’ak and Kiri’s many scratches and bruises apathetically before he shrugged. “They look fine to me.”

Varang nodded to one of her warriors. “Bring a bowl of food and a healer for the Sky Child. Leave the other two alone.”

“No!” Spider protested, but Varang was already walking away, taking her entourage of warriors with her. Lo’ak caught his eye and shrugged weakly as if to say, well, at least you tried.

“Dammit,” Spider curled in on himself and kept his eyes trained on his bound hands. He couldn’t bring himself to look at Kiri and Lo’ak. Silently, he prayed Quaritch would leave with the others, but unfortunately, his prayers went unanswered. Quaritch stayed right where he was. Mercifully, he didn’t try to touch him again, but he kept taking deep breaths like he was about to start speaking but always stopped himself.

“What?” Spider snapped after what felt like the hundredth aborted attempt at speaking.

Quaritch’s ears flicked back in surprise at the sudden word. “I was just— Spider, listen— I want to— we need to have—“ he interrupted his own stammering with a frustrated hiss and ran his hands through his hair. “Jesus, I sound like an idiot.”

Spider exchanged a bewildered glance with Kiri and Lo’ak. None of them, not even Spider, had ever seen Quaritch look nervous before. It wasn’t an emotion they thought he was capable of. Spider looked up at Quaritch warily, wondering what the hell he was trying to say. If he didn’t know better, he’d say Quaritch was trying to apologize to him.

After an unbearably awkward silence, Quaritch reached into a small pouch attached to his belt and pulled out a spartan fruit. He passed it to Spider while avoiding eye contact, almost shyly. “Here.”

Spider stared down at the fruit in his lap, confused. Spartan fruit didn’t grow in this part of the forest, and judging by the fruit’s slightly battered appearance, Quaritch must’ve been carrying it around with him for a while. Slowly, Spider raised his gaze from the spartan fruit to squint up at Quaritch.

“It’s a spartan fruit.” Quaritch told him, as if Spider wasn’t the one who had taught him that. “You told me it was your favorite.”

Spider said nothing.

The longer he remained silent, the more fidgety Quaritch got. His tail swished behind him and he struggled to meet Spider’s eyes for more than a few seconds at a time.

“I just— I just thought you might want it.” Quaritch scratched at the back of neck while avoiding eye contact again.

They lapsed into another silence that was so awkward it was almost painful. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Lo’ak scrunch up his face at him as if to say, what the hell is happening? All Spider could do was shrug.

Finally, Spider cleared his throat, moreso to interrupt the horrible silence than because he wanted to say anything. “Um… thank you.”

Reluctantly, he took the fruit, telegraphing his movements so Quaritch could see what he was doing. When he saw Spider had accepted his gift, he smiled another genuine, not-evil smile.

With his fruit in hand, Spider slowly got to a crouch and started shuffling away from him. Quaritch frowned. He let Spider move away without a fight, but kept a narrowed eye on him, ready to grab him if he looked like he was going to bolt— not that there was anywhere to bolt to in this cavern full of enemies.

Spider made a big show of moving slowly so Quaritch wouldn’t get any bad ideas about his intentions, and came to a stop next to Lo’ak. Then, before Quaritch could realize what he was doing, he pulled down Lo’ak’s gag and raised the fruit to his lips. Lo’ak started scarfing it down like it was his last meal.

“Dammit, Spider, that was supposed to be for you!” Quaritch seized the strap of Spider’s exopack and hauled him back before Lo’ak could take another bite.

“I don’t want your damn fruit, I want to make sure my friends are okay!” Spider snapped.

Quaritch yanked the half-eaten fruit out of his hands. “Your little friends will be just fine without food for a day or two. As long as their daddy cooperates, they’ll be back home before they know it.”

“My dad’s gonna kill your ass again!” Lo’ak yelled now that his gag was off. He strained against his bonds like he wanted to throw himself at Quaritch.

“Shut up.” Quaritch said irritably.

“Fuck you!”

Quaritch brandished his knife threateningly at Lo’ak. “You keep your mouth shut or I’ll make that hand look like a real Na’vi, boy!”

Despite the threat, Lo’ak looked like he wanted to snap back at Quaritch anyway. Kiri tried to say something through her gag and pressed herself against Lo’ak’s side. Behind Quaritch’s arm, Spider desperately shook his head, praying Lo’ak would listen to reason. Thankfully, he did, though he let out one last angry hiss before settling back next to Kiri in defeat.

His surrender sent an ugly smirk shooting over Quaritch’s face. “Well, would you look at that. A Sully can learn to follow orders. Ha!”

Quaritch’s mean-spirited laugh was interrupted by the arrival of a young woman carrying a medicine bag in one hand and a bowl filled with different kinds of food in the other. Clearly, whoever made the bowl had no idea what was safe for humans, so they’d compensated by putting in a little bit of everything.

“Here we are! You, girl, heal up now please my son.” Quaritch ordered in Na’vi so bad that even Spider had trouble deciphering it.

The poor healer stared at Quaritch in confusion. “I do not understand your speaking.”

“He told you to treat their wounds first, then me.” Spider “translated,” nodding urgently at Kiri and Lo’ak.

The healer turned towards Kiri with her bag at the ready only for Quaritch to grab her by the hand and pull her back.

“No, no, no. Not them. Him. Him only. Do not listen what he say. He lie.” Quaritch said very slowly.

The healer still looked confused, but she opened her bag and knelt next to Spider. She hissed softly through her teeth as she examined the nasty cut on his arm. “I do not know what to do. His flesh is not of Eywa. I am afraid I may hurt him.”

“Listen him. He will say you what safe use.”

“You want me to listen to him?” The woman’s brow furrowed in confusion. “But you just told me not to. You said he lies.”

“Listen to him!” Quaritch repeated. He banged his hand against the floor in frustration, making the poor healer squeak in surprise. “Go on, Spider, tell her what to use.”

“Hmm…” Spider made a big show of peering into her bag. His sharp eyes instantly identified which plants were safe and unsafe for him to use, but he feigned confusion with a shrug. “Huh, that’s funny. I can’t seem to remember what’s safe for me. Oh well…”

“Spider…” Quaritch bared his teeth in a wolfish smile— now this was the smile Spider was used to seeing from Quaritch, the same one he had whenever he got a lead on Jake or threatened an RDA grunt into submission. “Tell the nice lady what to use on you. Now.”

The borderline demonic smile sent a chill through Spider, but he held his ground. Remembering how pathetic Quaritch sounded when he asked Neytiri to let him go gave him strength. As much as Quaritch liked to threaten him with “old school ass whippings” Spider was confident Quaritch wouldn’t actually hurt him— at least, not physically.

Spider bared his teeth in a smaller, less-pointy version of Quaritch’s evil smile. “Maybe if she helps my friends first, it’ll jog my memory.”

An ugly, forced chuckle escaped Quaritch’s teeth. “Oh, so that’s how you want to play it, huh? Fine! Nobody gets medical attention now.”

Spider forced his expression to stay calm. He folded his arms behind his head and laid back against the damp stone. “That’s fine with me. I guess I’ll just lay here in this cold, dark cave with my open cuts. Sure would be a shame if I got an infection. Did I ever tell you that humans are way more likely to die from infections than Na’vi? Our bodies just don’t fight off bacteria the same way.”

Quaritch stared him down, teeth bared and tail swishing. For a moment, Spider thought he was really going to risk it just to spite Jake’s children, but then the moment passed and Quaritch snarled in frustration. “When did you get so manipulative? Has Sully been teaching you this shit? Fine. You, girl, heal children Toruk Makto first. Then my son.”

Spider smirked as he watched the exasperated healer finally get to work on Kiri and Lo’ak’s injuries. It was a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

With an irritated grumble, Quaritch got to his feet and fidgeted with his loincloth. Clearly, he wasn’t used to wearing it yet. “Alright, I gotta leave you alone now, but don’t go getting any big ideas, ‘cause I’ll be back soon. If your ass has moved an inch from this spot when I get back, you won’t need that paint to look blue anymore, you read me?”

“Lima charlie, sir.” Spider replied with as much sarcasm as he dared.

Quaritch narrowed his eyes at the disrespectful tone, but must’ve decided it wasn’t worth it to say anything. He turned to leave, but hesitated, his back to Spider.

“Spider… son… when I get back, we’re gonna have a talk, alright? We just— we need to talk.” He said without looking at Spider.

“Okay,” Spider said, more to get rid of Quaritch than anything.

Quaritch hesitated a moment longer like he wanted to say something, but instead he left without saying another word. As soon as he was out of sight, Spider scooped up the bowl of food and scrambled over to his friends. He yanked off Kiri’s gag and started feeding her and Lo’ak while the healer patched them up.

“Are you guys okay?” Spider asked.

“We’re fucking fantastic, bro.” Lo’ak answered, and Spider instantly felt stupid for asking such a question.

“We’ll live,” Kiri replied before turning to the healer and switching to Na’vi. “You should mix yalna bark with the fireflower root— it will stop the bleeding faster and clean the wound better.”

The healer’s eyes widened as she realized the wisdom to Kiri’s words and did as she instructed.

“I can’t believe Quaritch is going after Dad again. That asshole just doesn’t quit!” Lo’ak said frustratedly.

“I know.” Kiri agreed. “And he was acting so strange… Spider, what do you think he wants to talk to you about?”

Spider shifted uncomfortably as Lo’ak and Kiri watched him. “I don’t know. But it doesn’t matter, cause we’re not sticking around to find out. C’mon, this lady doesn’t understand English. Let’s come up with a plan to get out of here.”

Let's talk about the first look at Avatar 3 (pt 1)

🚨SPOILER WARNING FOR AVATAR 3 UNDER THE CUT!🚨

Last night at D23, James Cameron unveiled the very first real sneak peek of Avatar 3: Fire and Ash. I honestly wasn't expecting to get anything more than a title or synopsis, so I was so stoked when I saw the concept art they shared! I posted the images here last night, but I was too hyped up to think straight so I decided to wait a bit and process everything before talking about it. Now I'm ready to share my thoughts on each of the four images!

First off, we have Varang leading the Ash People on the backs of flying creatures!

Let's Talk About The First Look At Avatar 3 (pt 1)

The Ash People appear to be very similar to Forest People, with thin builds, blue skin, and big yellow eyes. However, I believe their skin is slightly paler and/or duller than the Forest People, it's hard to tell with the lighting. In the other picture of we have of Varang, they also appear to have long, sharp claws, and shorter, slightly thicker tails that are completely hairless. So even though they're overall pretty similar to Na'vi we've already seen before, they do have different physical traits, they're just not as drastically different as the Reef People. I'm excited to see how their different physiques help them in their environment! Perhaps they spend a lot of time climbing on rock, so they evolved big claws, and maybe they don't need long, thin tails to balance while swinging through trees, so their tails changed shape over time.

Just like their riders, the Ash People's also mounts appear similar to their forest banshee cousins, but with a few differences. The "Ash Banshee" looks paler and thinner than forest banshees and I notice it has a lot more of the dragonfly like sections on their wings. This might make them more agile in the air, able to adjust the shape of their wings to pull of more drastic turns than forest banshees can. In the real world, bats are much more agile in the air than birds because bats have more bones in their wings that allow them to change the wing's shape as they fly. The ash banshee also looks like it has some kind of a horn on its head as well as little fleshy tendrils on the sides of its face. I hope we get to see an aerial battle between ash and forest banshees!

Varang herself looks very stunning and intimidating with that dramatic red headdress and war paint. It reminds me of the frill some species of lizards use to frighten enemies- varang's frill probably has a similar purpose. She also appears to be wearing skin-tight black pants, probably something similar to the purple leg guards Neytiri wears during long flights. I also see the tip of a bow peeking out from behind Varang. If Varang uses a bow, I hope we get to see a showdown between her and our favorite archer, Neytiri!

The Ash Na'vi also all appear to have their kurus intact, so that disproves the theory that they would cut off their kurus because they hate Eywa. But speaking of them hating Eywa, I notice the warrior directly to Varang's left is carrying a large gun, which means the Ash People know how to use guns and are okay with doing it. The logical conclusion from this is that someone is supplying them with guns and/or teaching them how to use them. Either they're stealing from the RDA and teaching themselves, or Quaritch has taught them to use human weapons. Another possibility is that Jake reached out to them to join the war effort and taught them human weaponry, but they ended up turning on him.

In BTS footage, we've seen both Quaritch and Neytiri seemingly dressed in Ash People clothing, so it's possible that Quaritch or Jake and co. have tried to ally themselves with the Ash People.

The last thing of note in the picture is that this is likely our first look at the Ash Na'vi's homeland. Sadly, since we're looking at the sky, there's not much we can tell other than that it's cloudy and there's rocky formations in the background. Maybe the Ash People live in the rock formations.

What do you guys think of this image? Are there any details I missed?

Let's talk about the first look at Avatar 3 (pt 3)

🚨SPOILER WARNING FOR AVATAR 3 UNDER THE CUT!!! 🚨

Last but not least, I want to talk about the new villain herself, Varang!

You can read my post about the Ash People here and my post about Neytiri and the Sky Ships here.

Let's Talk About The First Look At Avatar 3 (pt 3)

Here we get another good look at Varang, the leader of the Ash People. As I touched on in my first post, we can see the Ash People have some different characteristics from the Forest People. Their skin is lighter, their tails are shorter, slightly thicker, and hairless, and their claws are very long and sharp. But other than these differences, they're more or less the same.

Varang looks like she's participating in some kind of ceremony or celebration with her people as she dances around a fire. The other Ash People are wearing intricate masks and costumes. I was wondering if the Ash People would be inspired by a specific cultural group like how the Forest People are inspired by Native Americans and Reef People are inspired by Native Polynesians, but if there is a specific culture being referenced here, I can't identify it. If anybody recognizes the masks and clothing, let me know, but I don't see any clear cultural reference when I look at their outfits. It's possible James Cameron chose not to draw inspiration from a specific culture since the Ash People will be more villainous and he didn't want to seem like he was villainizing any one indigenous culture.

I also cannot for the life of me tell what's going on in the background, just that there's ash and rock and maybe an "ash banshee" flying.

Now, the big thing that stood out to me in this picture is the fact that Varang is wearing the severed kurus from other Na'vi. We've never seen what happens to a Na'vi if you cut off their kuru in canon material, but I imagine it cannot be pleasant. When Jake was first captured by the Omaticaya in Avatar 1, the held a knife to his kuru to stop him from running, showing that cutting it must be very dangerous and only reserved for enemies.

Seeing Varang gleefully dance with a whole bunch of them woven into her neckpiece is disturbing to see. Since the severed kurus are featured so prominently, I imagine we will see someone get their kuru cut off at one point. I just hope it's not one of the main characters!

I have no idea what Varang holds in store for Avatar 3, but she will undoubtedly be a terrifying villain for our heroes to fight!

What do you guys think of Varang?

If Quaritch and Varang actually hook up, how do you think Spider is going to feel about it?

I wonder if the whole issue of cutting off kuru isn't a bit too..brutal for the age category. Maybe these kuru are cut off after the clan leader dies and then during the supposed celebration shown in one of the leaks they are put on by the current leader as a way of drawing power/wisdom from past leaders or something like that? Some people cut off a braid of hair after family member's death and keep it as a memento.

I don't know if we'll actually see a scene of Varang cutting off a kuru. Maybe it will only happen off-screen to keep it from being too violent. Or maybe she only removes them from Na'vi enemies who are already dead. The fact that it's "just hair" to the average viewer and not a limb or something will make it easier to pass any censors.

I've heard of traditions involving keeping hair of dead loved ones, and we very well may see Na'vi practice that, but I don't think that's the case with Varang. She looks a little too frightening in that scene to be just honoring the dead, and James Cameron has promised that avatar 3 will feature a villain we'll love to hate and examples of navi being evil. My gut's telling me that varang is cutting off kurus maliciously and that this is not a case of taking them after death. This feels like a way to strike fear in the heart of your enemies.

Hi! Quick question, do you know if this leak is official? I found it on Tik Tok but I don't think I've seen it before so I wonder if it's not just fan made 😅

Hi! Quick Question, Do You Know If This Leak Is Official? I Found It On Tik Tok But I Don't Think I've

yoooo I haven't seen this before! No idea if it's real or not, but it sure looks like a real BTS shot to me. If this is a fake, the creator certainly went through a lot of work just to make the image so blurry you can hardly tell what's happening. You'll have to ask the OP on tiktok where they got it from if you want to confirm anything.

It looks like that Na'vi guy is about to knock the living Eywa out of Varang lmaooooo I wonder who it is

I just need a scene where Spider finds out that Quaritch is dating Varang and realizes that she's actually his stepmother now. That's it, thanks for your attention.

Spider realizing he now has to deal with not one, but TWO insane evil parents

this is more or less me just coming up with things, but maybe the ash people don't really cut off their own huru (assuming varang gets all of hers from enemies and deceased elders and the like), because eywa does come with a few benefits like storing memories for later. there's a practical use. so like, maybe they want to have all the beneficial things that eywa gives, yet not any of the "drawbacks" like the three laws bring like not using metal or wheels?

I agree with you on that.

Youtuber Avatar Theory came up with the idea that Varang's followers purposefully sever their kurus and give them to her as a sign of devotion, and though I love Avatar Theory, I don't think he's got it quite right there. As you said, there's just too many disadvantages to severing a kuru. Even if Varang was on the worst power trip ever, she would still realize warriors without kurus would have a huge disadvantage. Plus, we've seen the D23 image with a whole bunch of Ash People riding their banshee-like mounts, which makes it pretty unlikely they sever their kurus for her.

I believe she severs the kurus of her enemies and of her enemies only, partially as a fear tactic and partially as part of a spiritual belief that she absorbs the strength from her enemies' kurus.

If the Ash na'vi are supposed to be allies of the RDA does that mean they would be able to accept humans and treat them as their own, treat them with respect? Or would they allow only recoms? I can't wait to find out!

I'm honestly not sure if the Ash People will be allies to the RDA. We've seen them using human weapons in the D23 art, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're going to ally with the RDA.

I don't have solid evidence for this theory, I'm just going based off of vibes, but I think this is what will happen:

Jake is going to start rallying the clans just like he did in A1, except this time he's not just getting forest people but also reef people and wind people. The RDA realizes whats happening and start to panic. With most of the recoms dead, they have no soldiers who can safely enter the really wild areas outside of their control, and they don't have the resources to torch everything in their path, so they come up with the idea to try and use Quaritch to convince a clan to join them. This way, they could have more soldiers who can enter Eywa's territory without having to spend the resources of growing them.

Quaritch ends up finding the ash people and he starts trying to build an alliance with them. Varang goes along with this at first, but she definitely has her own ulterior motives in mind. The ash people get access to human weapons and battle tactics from Quaritch, while Quaritch and Wainfleet start dressing like ash na'vi to assimilate and make them trust them more. This is why we see ash na'vi wielding guns and we see Quaritch wearing ash attire.

At some point, the Sully kids and Spider get mixed up in all this. This is where the leak comes in: Spider somehow loses/damages his mask, and Kiri performs the "miracle" on him, allowing him to breathe. Jake and Quaritch have a very temporary alliance for Spider's sake and even though Quaritch wants to take Spider with him, he realizes Spider will be in danger at the RDA so he agrees to let Jake go on the condition he gets Spider to safety.

Despite Jake's best efforts to hide Spider with the reef people, the RDA somehow figures out that Spider can breathe on his own now and they try to capture him alive so they can learn how this happened and replicate it in human soldiers. This puts Quaritch in a position where he is forced to choose between his duty to humanity and being a father to Spider. Somewhere in this, Quaritch also learns that Varang never intended to cooperate with the RDA and was only using them to get weapons and knowledge, and now she's going to betray them.

When everything reaches its boiling point, Quaritch chooses to betray the RDA and save Spider. There's some big battle where between Jake's resistance and Varang's betrayal, the RDA suffers a massive loss and Avatar 3 ends on a positive note since it was written as a possible ending. Quaritch can now never go back to the human side and he's done too much damage to ever work with the resistance, so out of desperation, he joins the Ash Clan, the only people left who will take him. Varang welcomes him with open arms, happy to have a demon with extensive knowledge on human battle tactics on her side. And that's where Avatar 3 would end for Quaritch.

So to answer your question about humans, I feel like Varang and co. would only see the humans as tools to be used by them and discarded once they're no longer useful. I get the vibes that the ash people really value strength and power over all else, and while they might be jealous of the humans' powerful weaponry, they would look down on the humans for their physical weakness. The one exception might be Spider. If Varang and Quaritch become allies or even lovers, I think Varang might tolerate Spider at best purely out of respect for Quaritch.

I've also seen a theory that if Spider ends up growing a kuru, Varang might go after him as a form of trophy hunting because he would be the only human with a kuru in the whole world and that would make him rare and unique, but that would definitely sour any relationship between Varang and Quaritch...

I would like Quaritch and Varang to not have a romantic relationship and instead be more of a pair of villains who complement each other and are unbeatable together but that probably won't happen. But I would like to see a scene where Varang kidnaps the kids, sees Spider and is like: oh, you're that human son of Quaritch that he often mentioned. And everyone has this shock on their face beacuse 1. Q has some connection to those dark na'vi and 2. that he openly calls Spider his son. And then we have the leak scene where Quaritch enters the room and negotiates to place Spider under his care and keep the Sullys as hostages.

I could see it going either way. What I personally think will happen is that Quaritch and Varang will have this sort of romantic tension between each other, but their relationship is too strained by their loyalties to their respective factions that they don't get to act on it. Sort of an enemies-that-could-be-lovers-in-different-circumstances thing.

Ooh I like the scene you described. Quaritch spent all of Avatar 2 refusing to call Spider his son up until the very end, when Spider finally escaped him. That moment when he finally calls out "son" to Spider so desperately and asks him to come with him always hits hard. To show how much he's changed, I would love to hear Quaritch referring to Spider as his son more in Avatar 3, and it would be interesting to see how the other characters react to it!

And yes, I believe that BTS scene is definitely of Quaritch trying to talk Varang into handing Spider over to him.

I was in the process of making Varang but now i’m starting from scratch all over again… I did want to show off my progress from this work though!

I am a little upset but I am not happy with this drawing as there’s many mistakes but i’m not here to criticize! i’m here to share that sometimes you have to start over from scratch instead of trying to fix it. I was in fact trying to but I can’t, I’m overwhelmed by the drawing & it shouldn’t be like that!

Happy drawings!!
