being stronger than the famous duke of the boleoti dukedom is... kinda exhausting. let's be honest here, the boleoti family was unstoppable and considered the most powerful family in the empire. but you? you're just an (according to everyone) mere lady from a wealthy county. that's why no one expected you to become a war hero and defeated an entire army by yourself.

and everyone who knows about your strength was planning to use you against the boleoti family. even the imperial family themselves was planning to make you a perfect soldier to kill duke phileo. but there was one thing that everyone doesn't know. and that is you and phileo were good friends. the two of you were stuck with each other ever since you were a child. you and phileo were close to the point that you can barge onto his estate on the boleoti territory unannounced.

but how does the nobility who were planning to pull you on their side doesn't know about your relationship with phileo? easy, because whenever you visit phileo you are always wearing disguise magic.

leonia remembered an extra chapter in the novel that was gruesome. it was the chapter where phileo personally tortured the people who killed you after he heard about the news of your death. he tortured them slowly... and he made sure to make them feel the excruciating pain that will make them wish that they were dead. she could still remember a quote from that chapter that made her feel... as if something was odd with phileo's character.

when leonia looked at you and phileo who were casually talking to each other. for a moment, she saw a glint of possessiveness in phileo's eyes while looking at you.

after discussing about some important matters. you and phileo were now doing what you always do whenever you visit him. and that is... sparring! and for some odd reasons, after you took off your cloak. leonia started to compliment your muscles. but you didn't pay any attention to it since according to you, leonia is a kid.

Three years passed. You performed your duties as the duchess, overseeing the household and organizing any functions that were to be hosted in the duchy. When you weren’t doing paperwork in your private office or speaking to the head butler on how to improve the workplace and other matters, you spent time with the male lead.

You had kept your promise to him. 

You did not demand his affections, prioritizing the duchy and his son’s wellbeing. You did not take any paramours nor spent more than the allowance you were given to shop for dresses and other accessories in the capital. The Everetts have been in charge of the high society hierarchy since the city’s foundation over two hundred years ago, becoming leaders in the steel industry and later other areas of business. Each member in this family has been successful, and they all had high expectations of their children as soon as they were able to go to school: become well-rounded in academics and sports, rub shoulders with the right people and never bring any shame to their legacy.

Now, imagine this insufferable bloke meeting you, a sweet little darling at one of the family’s annual galas. He knows who is who on the social scene, and this sheep’s family were rich and famous. Just not like him. The cherry on top is that he knows you’re faking it. Why? Did you seriously brush up a once-in-lifetime opportunity to hang out with the guy everyone wants to be their friend and amp up their social status? Yes, he knows he's an asshole but damn it this was an insult. Big time. 

He utilized the best tech team money could buy and had a list of your social media accounts in his room Monday morning. After all, there’s no better way to make someone so arrogant know their place in this city than trash their social media accounts. They are a fucking lifeline nowadays; one false move, one nasty little comment, and you were history, finished, forever chained to a part-time job at McDonald’s. God, he is a genius. He is great and yet he is humble. 

He looked through your Viewtube account and saw your most popular ones were either titled study with me or write with me for an hour, gentle piano music. University application advice or tips or capsule wardrobing was a close second. Wait, what? Writing vlogs? The fuck, what were you trying to be, the next Ernest Hemingway or some shit?

“Hey guys, it’s [Username] and welcome back to my channel. For those who are new here, welcome, welcome. I do all sorts of videos on here, so feel free to look around and see what tickles your fancy. In today’s content, I’ll be showing you the next part in my journey for querying an agent for my cozy fantasy novel that I’ve been working on for the last six months.

Before Sebastian realized what was happening, he spent the entire morning watching your writing vlog series right up to the new episode. Holy shit. You were actually real and not fake?! He’s seen a lot of ViewTubers and scrolled through TikTok videos between classes. He knows if someone is putting on a pretty face and aesthetic to rake in the dough for their channel or ramp up the number of subscribers so they can have bragging rights when they reach over 100k. He’s got 500k and counting on his Instagram. 

But you’ve got almost 300k? Just for writing vlogs, fashion advice, and tips on university application processes?! And you started this channel almost two years ago?!

So how come you still rejected him? It didn’t make any sense! Wait, wait. What if he donated to your channel? I mean, you’re not broke or shit but previous posts have shown live-streaming write with me videos where all the donations go to a charity fundraiser to support reading programs? Or was it for an after-school lunch program? 

Whatever it is, he’ll pitch in. If there is a goal you need to meet, he’ll help out under an anonymous name. He can take his time, slowly winning over your trust and appreciation. You want a bigger studio? He can find one with just a phone call to a real estate agent. You need help finding a querying agent? No sweat. Give him a list and he’ll persuade them to give your manuscript a chance. He’s got the connections, the money, so much more than you could ever imagine. All he wants in exchange for his generosity is to take you out for some coffee. Who knows? Maybe he’ll reveal himself as a big fan of your blog, and you’ll finally realize what a great catch he is. 

Just don’t run away this time, okay?

To his surprise, you accepted the random invitation to a coffee date after class on the condition that there would be no casual sex involved. Just caffeine and conversation between two university students for a good hour, or until your next lecture starts. He learned that you had some baggage of your own too. You might not be as rich or as influential as his family, but your family had high expectations for you as well. They wanted you to stop indulging in your Viewtubing 'hobby' and start focusing on the real world.

Streaming content doesn't pay the bills. You are supposed to take over the family business someday. Either that or marry someone just as rich or if not richer and your spouse will take over. It's your choice in the end, just don't be an embarrassment.

After that, he took pity on you and asked if you wanted to hang out a bit more. As friends, of course. Maybe become something a little more if he played his cards right. It'll suck with no drugs and no hook-ups for a while, but his parents might give him just a tiny bit more freedom for 'dating' a picture-perfect girl, right? And this arrangement totally works out for you too!

He just didn't expect the plan to take almost six months to accomplish. You were stubborn all right, and definitely not a picture-perfect girl. What is easy for him is twice as hard for you, yet you were willing to put the effort in whatever assignment or task you had to do. Hell, even making your Viewtube content takes a lot of time because everything has to be perfect, from the lighting and sound to your makeup.

Is it possible to fall more in love with someone than he already is with you? 'Cause he didn't think that being sober and being in your company gave him the best fuckin' high he didn't think was possible.

When the two of you decided to go together at the McGregor’s spring gala, dressed to the nines and playing nice with the other big-wigs, Sebastian thought his family would actually approve of you and know you’re the reason he’s turned over a new leaf.

Alas, they weren’t happy. They were pissed. So were your folks. And just like a scene outta Romeo and Juliet, two star-crossed lovers were separated, forbidden from ever seeing each other again because of their parents. In this modern adaptation, it was due to the high expectations they’ve placed on their children.

“Seb, how could you? I thought you were seeing Marc’s little girl! You remember her, don’t you? We introduced you to each other last month, she goes to same campus as you! Her family is practically a cornerstone in the city’s medical care system! She is going to be a cardiac surgeon. A surgeon for Christ’s sake, and you’re with a streamer? I gave you one simple job, find a worthy fiancée! But even you can’t get that right!” His father grumbled as he pulled him by the arm towards the opposite end of the ballroom.

His mother was right beside him, squeezing his hand with her jeweled one and cooing in his ear.

“Oh honey, [First Name] is a lovely girl but we know you can do so much better than her! She’s not like us. You know that, right? Do you want our family to fall into ruins? To lose our comfortable lifestyle?”

But all Sebastian could feel was his heart plummeting into his stomach as he saw your figure become smaller and smaller, until you vanished completely from his line of sight. No.

You shot up from the bed with widened eyes, heart hammering against your chest and mind racing. Your gaze darted around the darkened room before you began to slowly breathe in and out through your nose.

Everything was all right. You were in your new home, a seaside town called Meldoza; you came here after exchanging your wedding vows with Carcel Escalante de Esposa, the male lead of the manhwa series The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway. But instead of being a side character, a mob, you were possessing Ines’ body. 

You had been occupying it after she had turned seven years old. A year after she had declared Carcel to be her fiance instead of the Empire’s crown prince. There were some misunderstandings along the way, but everything worked out….or so you thought. Ever since you and your new husband had come here, nightmares haunted your mind. 

No. These were not nightmares. These were Ines’ memories from her first life as the crown prince’s wife; what started as a glamorous life in the royal palace quickly descended into a nightmare, followed by four miscarriages and being blamed for them when it had been the scumbag Oscar who was the root of all Ines’ suffering. He had been a man who did all of these horrible things simply because he could with no care for the consequences. And that all came crashing down when Ines committed suicide right before his eyes, shooting herself through the chin with a hunting rifle. 

Are you seeing these fragmented memories because there is still a part of Ines’ soul hidden somewhere, and she resented you for stealing the life that should have been hers? Or was it something else?

Either way, you needed to document what you saw tonight before you forgot. Glancing over at your slumbering spouse, you were relieved that he is still sleeping. 

Stealthily pulling back the covers, you climbed out of the bed and grabbed the shawl that rested over the bed’s wooden headboard. Wrapping it around your shoulders, you walked over to the desk that was situated near a window and sat down. Opening the first drawer on the right, you pulled out the journal and quickly documented the dream across the unlined pages. 

But when you stood up, the pain in your legs worsened. Whether it was phantom pain from experiencing the memory/dream or just from walking around the town all day in uncomfortable shoes, it was hard to tell with limited lighting and a groggy mind. 

Perhaps it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to walk outside for some fresh air before going back inside? Thankfully Carcel did not snore. Upon leaving the room, you snuck across the kitchens towards the back door, plucking the key from the wooden rack and unlocked it. Shutting the door as quietly as possible, you descended down the stone stairs bare-footed, and into the verdant yard overlooking the dark ocean.

Nothing was planted here, at least not yet. Another thing on your to-do list as the wife of Duke Esposa. Shaking your head, you inhaled the salty scent wafting in the warm air before sitting on a stone bench. 

This was…nice. You could breathe out here. Think. But when your little gray cells began to function properly at this ungodly hour, so did the questions that have been plaguing your mind since after becoming Carcel’s wife. 

Did Carcel actually love you? He has kept his promise to not allow himself to be caught in the arms of another woman in public and showered you with gifts…but did that mean anything to him or was it his method to pacify a potentially angry marriage partner? 

Carcel was kind and gentle, but he was not perfect and that was okay with you.

 But is he happy with you? Could you even make him happy when you hadn’t figured out how you felt towards him?

As you stared at the dark waters over yonder, the memories from your wedding night crept into your mind. Consummation of a marriage solidified the alliance between families and assured them that a precautionary heir may arrive soon. You weren’t so foolish to believe that Carcel would not want to fulfill his duties in the marital bed lest he wanted to drag his family’s legacy through the mud by spending it with a mistress. 

Yet…he was gentle that evening. He cradled you in his arms, whispered sweet words in your ears and passionately kissed every crevice on your body. When it was all over…he hugged you. He held you for the rest of the night until the dawn of a new day arrived. 

Oblivious and lost in thought, you did not realize that the shawl slipped ever so slightly down your shoulders. Nor did you hear the back door open with a ‘creak’  till an alarmed voice called out to you.

“Ines? Darling, what are you doing out here?!” 

Jolting in your spot on the bench, you looked over your shoulder to see Carcel fully-dressed in his nightclothes, almost running towards your side with a worried expression. He always complained about wearing a shirt at night, claiming it made him uncomfortable when he slept. 

Oh dear, did he worry that you would run off into the night and leave him?

You lowered your head. “I’m sorry. I just…needed some fresh air after a perplexing dream. But I was about to come back to our room when you came out here.” You added quickly. “You are more than welcome to sit with me…unless you wish to return to bed immediately?” 

He always woke up before you did for work and came home at half past seven o’clock. Had he worked himself to the bone like this, even in the manhwa series?

But Carcel just stood by your side, his baby blue orbs wide and face turning a bright shade of red. Your brow scrunched with worry. 

“Carcel? What’s wrong?” Ignoring the pain reigniting in your legs, you immediately stood up and pressed the back of your hand against his forehead. 

“You’re burning up.” Panic began to seep through your body. Oh God, when did he start to get sick? Just now? Or had he been hiding his ailment from you this whole time? 

“I-I will wake up the maid. No. I need to go to town and fetch the doctor -” You turned away to run back inside the house when you were pulled backwards, right into a firm, warm chest. You glanced over your shoulder, noticing that your husband’s face was pressed against your bare shoulder.. 

“Carcel?” 

“I am fine. I am not ill. Just…relieved that you are all right.” The large hands on your hips tightened their grip slightly. “You’re still here, with me. This isn’t a dream, is it?”

You shook your head. “It’s not. I am by your side, just as I promised I would.” Just when you uttered those words, you were suddenly lifted off of the ground and cradled in Carcel’s arms, his hands now in different positions. One was hooked under your legs, and the other was coiled around your shoulders. 

“Carcel?”

You were adorable. Even though he had been scared witless upon waking up in the bed alone, you were still concerned for his well-being. In all honesty, he thought that you were avoiding him after what happened on your wedding night. He had been so scared of hurting you, pulling you out of your comfort zone without any regard to your personal feelings. 

Ah, what a relief. You were not even aware what he did when others had mocked his marriage or dared to ask for his permission to sleep with his wife once he got tired of her. He could sleep well tonight. And he hoped you would as well.

Smiling, he pressed a kiss against your temple, relishing in the dark red flush creeping up on those pale cheeks at the affectionate gesture before carrying you inside. 

He wanted to ravish you again. He wanted to make his wife quiver in pleasure from his touch…but not tonight. Tonight, he will embrace her until she falls asleep. 

He’ll have to let the housekeeper know to let his Ines sleep in again tomorrow.

Happy holidays, guys! I’m back from my break and slowly writing fanfics again with a little Christmas cheer: this is the finale of this series. I still can’t wrap my head around how much positive reception I’ve received, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being so supportive, and I really hope you’ll stick around to see what happens next in The Chapter Chronicles!

News of the carriage accident spread like wildfire across the Ashet Empire. 

After she received news that her father had collapsed, Sheila Griddlebone departed from an unknown residence that she was visiting at the time and ordered the driver to return to the marquis’ estate promptly.  But just when it seemed like things would be all right…the horses bolted down the road as if they were possessed by a devil. The driver tried to reign in the horses, yet they did not heed his commands. Instead, he jumped off the carriage, concerned only for his safety and not the young woman entrusted in his care. He could only watch as the carriage went down a steep hill, careening into a forested area before the back of it slammed into an enormous tree. 

If it hadn’t been the coachmen’s guilty conscience or that they were passing through an area under the protection of another aristocrat, Lady Griddlebone would not have made it. Especially when a commoner just so happened to be quite familiar with tools to pry the carriage door open when it had been pushed inwards, including having many friends who were willing to help. So long as they were rewarded by their lord, of course. 

Blessedly, Lady Griddlebone was alive but currently in a coma. Marquis Griddlebone, who was perfectly fine and had not collapsed, was beside himself with grief and vowed revenge on whoever is responsible for this tragedy. 

The upper echelon knew Lady Griddlebone worked closely with her father in the palace and proved herself to be a worthy heir, so she could not have purposely staged an accident to gain his attention. Someone wanted to kill her and make it seem like an accident, or the fault lied with the Griddlebone employees being careless as it is customary to check on any issues with the carriage before driving it. 

No witnesses, no one would dare come forward to confess the crime of attempted murder on a marquis’ daughter. DNA evidence did not even exist in this world. 

So why? LaRue thought. Why is it that even with all of my hard work, destroying the evidence, I am still the one that has taken the blame for the crime?!  

Presently she is in a carriage herself, rattling against the dirt road as orange and red hues of the sunset begin to bloom in the evening sky. Today had been like any other day for her: leisurely enjoying the life of a lazy, wealthy woman who finally removed the obstacle between herself and marrying Duke Floyen.

Then you met Gloria, the matriarch of the family. A woman who pierced red eyes never left your figure during her stay at the household. She questioned every person of the household if any of them told you about the family’s curse. As much as she is happy that none of them reveal the dark truth, Gloria fears that when you discover it, you won’t hesitate to leave this family behind.

One day, where Terdeo didn’t need to work, he took you and Selphius out to have a small picnic in the garden, something that you begged him for a while and that he needed to prove the cookies you and Selphius did for him.

The gentle breeze is cool, meaning that some leaves fall over the three of you, not that none of you much care about it, except Selphius who is trying his best to not let the weather ruin your looks. Moment like this make Terdeo knows he made the right choose when selecting you as his significant other, not only you fit to be Selphius’ parent, great the family with love, but also dedicate the time of your day to help him.

Many hours you spend at his side helping with the paperwork, carrying the files side to side as he guides you. The silence moments where you made a cup of coffee to help him stay awake during the late hours of the night. Terdeo suspected for a long time that your personality was a cover to only get the positive side of the family, however he changed his mind with the time you live along with him and the others. Even though you signed a marriage contract with him to make sure that you won’t try anything wrong or bad, but why does he regret doing so?

Slicing a piece of pie and giving it to Selphius, the little boy eats it almost in seconds, too excited. While Terdeo drinks a glass of water and you arrange the rest of the food, the boy accidentally cuts himself with the knife. The tiny drops of blood hit his vest.

Both Selphius and Terdeo panicked. They can’t get the blood on you, so the boy runs away from you while protecting his hand or at least he tries so. You grab his hand and as Terdeo failed to hold you back. The red eyes of both Laperion witness a small drop of blood hit your face, the same who made you fall in the ground.

Screams called the rest of the family to the garden to see the disturbing scene. Phineas carried you inside as Gloria and Sercia stayed to comfort Selphius. On the other hand, Terdeo is trying his best to keep calm as he makes his way to follow the doctor.

Unexpectedly, you are still alive after you enter contact with Selphius’ blood, even with high fever and incapable of waking up, you are breathing and muttering words like that sound the names of the family. A miracle that you are still with the living after getting contact with the cursed blood, something that he is thankful for.

Days pass and you don’t look better nor closer to waking up, hands cold as ice and your forehead in flames, your condition isn't the best, but he is glad that you are stronger to hold on to the symptoms and keep breathing as more time goes on.

He was furious as he read the first few lines of the letter, didn’t hesitate to throw it on the fireplace and watch it burning slowly.

More time passed til you open your eyes to see Selphius reading a book in the chair near the bed. He didn’t call for anyone that moment, seeing his parents finally awake and asking how school was going. To think they just woke up and are already taking care of him is amazing. The two of them spend a little time together till he calls the others.

Unsurprisingly, Terdeo was the first to make his way to your bedroom and yet, he was the last one to speak anything. He just sat in the same chair where his nephew was and stayed in complete silence. Maybe he knew what to say, but preferred to stay quiet and enjoy the cozy moment between you and him.

As the others talk with you, Terdeo’s fingers brush against yours as everyone shows their happiness to see you better and awake. He doesn’t initially notice it, but sensing you entwining his finger makes it clear. Firstly, he almost let it go, but feeling the warmth and seeing that smile of yours after so long, Terdeo continues to hold your hand even after the family leave the two of you alone in the bedroom.

His red eyes don't leave you for a time nor he doesn’t let your hand out of his, Terdeo might never admit by words, but he fears that now you will break the contact and leave the family due to the accident.

It was not a lie but since you first saw Jurian when he came to your home with elder Patrick. You can't even say how happy you were when Veramonte Patrick himself came to ask for your hand in marriage with his grandson.

You said yes without even thinking twice. You were the youngest and most successful and powerful business woman in the world. Ranking the no. One on the world richest list. And now you got your self one of the strongest awakened as your fiance!!! What can you ask more for??

But after a few meetings you understood that you were nothing more than a replacement for him in place of Jiyoung yoo. The engagement was done , and you didn't everything in your hands to mend and build beautiful memories only to be reminded that you are not her .

Hence you are not enough. You were still fixed on making this relationship better and Veramonte was able to see your efforts. A woman feared by the business world who had so much pride ...was nothing for her fiance.

You were very happy when Jurian started to talk to you , asking for food, or where his clothes are.... You knew you were nothing more than his personal maid but your heart never accepted it. Till that night.

He took you to a hair salon saying to set your hair but in fact he asked them to colour your hair. You screamed and cried on the whole way home and he didn't said a word. When Veramonte saw you he scolded his grandson who slammed the door and left for somewhere.

You were sleeping in the guest room. When you heard the front door getting unlocked. It must be Jurian and the way you were hearing him stumble it seems like he was drunk. Your heart asked you to get up and look for him , but you didn't.

Not even a sec later your rooms door opened and you heard him stumble and staggering towards your bed. He was patting your head. You thought he was sorry for what he did . But then you heard him you heart dropped into your stomach.

"Jiyoung what are you doing here??? Why are not in our room??"

You sat up with tears in eyes and your heart broken too much to be mended. He was hugging you but you pushed him hard , and to that he slapped you . You said nothing else and slapped him back hard and it felt like the drunk mind got back in its place.

He looked at your state, your hair black instead of h/c colour. Yes he felt guilty, it was his decision but he felt guilty. Your eyes empty and tired not having the shine they used to have in them the first time he meet you.

For the first time he looked at you after he treated you like that. You looked broken .... And he broke you... When it was not your fault he broke you.. there were dark circles under your eyes . He extended his hand towards you, but you were done now.

You took step back. And then another. You exited the room slamming the door shut. Leaving Jurian on the ground holding his head in hands repenting what he did. His heart in his stomach.

Veramonte was in the library when he heard a knock on the door. You entered the room . He suddenly stood up when he saw your bruised cheek he too tried to take a look at your face but you backed away. He stopped in his tracks.

You took the ring off and put it down on the table in front of him. He first time said something to you , "I bless you to be happy". And then you left.. not only the room and the house but their life too .

"Y/n can you bring my black shirt sweetheart???"

You entered a luxury shop to buy some gifts for your boyfriend Kayden . He loves you so much that he never lets you out. Always sitting on your lap when he is in his cat form and you are in your office or banging you wherever you are if he is in his human form.

According to him you are a non awakened and you need his protection. He gots feral sometime when his apprentice Jihwoo takes a your attention.

So right now he is at Jihwoo's place to train him and you are out to buy some clothes for him. You were choosing clothes for him when he called.
