I will scream this from the rooftops if I have to.

I ONLY WRITE CHUBBY READER INSERTS!!

No, I will not write for a skinny reader. Never… unless I’m paid. Then maybe lol.

But in terms of free content, you will never see a thin reader on my page. Ever.

And if you have a problem with that, just remember that a majority if not most of the reader inserts available cater to a thin reader.

I am simply being the change I want to see. I am making content for myself and others like me that want to see our bodies represented in fanfiction.

You want more thin reader inserts? Write it yourself! Because that’s what I had to do with chubby reader inserts.

‼️AND BEFORE YOU ASK!!‼️

Yes, all people are welcome here and can read my works. Skinny, fat, tall, short, black, white, etc.

Just don’t be surprised when you see the reader’s body being described as fat. You are welcome, but just know who my fics are catered to.

Thinking about a certain scene in Dungeon Meshi that completely encapsulates the Autistic experience of making friends as an adult and how hard it is to try and navigate it without ending up getting hurt.

Thinking About A Certain Scene In Dungeon Meshi That Completely Encapsulates The Autistic Experience

Like IDK about y'all, but this is a common problem ALOT of Autistic Adults face when trying to make friends with other people, because unlike children who aren't good at keeping their opinions to themselves, Adults ARE. In society, we're even encouraged to "keep the peace" "be polite" and etc, which commonly leads to awful scenarios as shown above when Laois finds out his buddy has come to resent who Laois is without actually telling him. All too often the friends that we love to hang out with, people that we're so happy to spend time with, don't feel the same way and in many cases, come to blame us for our social cues or lack thereof.

And when/if we do eventually find out how our friend feels, Dungeon Meshi hits us with another painful panel of how that usually ends up playing out.

Thinking About A Certain Scene In Dungeon Meshi That Completely Encapsulates The Autistic Experience

It's hard for Adults with Autism to make friends, and even harder to maintain them because alot of the ways Neurotypicals tell other Neurotypicals that they don't like a certain behavior is by quietly disengaging. Whether that involves having one sentence answers, going quiet, or having a certain tone in their voice, all those things signal annoyance or disapproval, but for the Neurodivergents, those subtle cues are completely missed.

And yet when we inevitably discover we DID do something, it is natural to ask "well why didn't you tell me?" because in our minds, it should've been the next step in the equation. However for the Neurotypicals, that's NOT something to bring up. Its important to be SUBTLE about the issue at hand and rely on signals to tell the other person. Blame is placed on us for not noticing the "obvious" signs of disapproval rather than the idea of talking it out as such things are uncomfortable and harder to do. Alot of the time what ends up happening is resentment due to the idea that it was "obvious" and the fact one didn't notice indicates a deliberate ignorance rather than a complete unawareness. It ends up calling into question our quality as a person and our sincerity. We get called "fake" or "malicious" or even "stupid" for failing social cues rather than questioning the decision to be indirect and vague.

For a manga about exploring the dungeon, it seems that the artist would rather explore very real and prevalent dynamics in society with the adventuring premise as a backdrop. I felt VERY seen in these panels, and many others, because it happens so suddenly and dare I say it, plainly. There's no dramatic build-up or spectacle made and in essence, it just Happens.

I think that's what makes the scene hit even harder. It seemingly comes out of nowhere for Laois, like how it always comes out of nowhere for alot of people, and it's never a dramatic twist either. It's always mundane and hurtful. A sudden unforeseen bump in the road that ends up calling into question one's entire friendship with someone and consequent other friendships. It asks "what if other friends feel the same. What if the people that I really like actually hate me and I don't know it?" Or at least that's what I came away with after reading the chapter. I've been where Laois was and the only reason I'm not there now is because I lost the naivete I had and doubt everyone else's sincerity.

I'll never get over how fucking ridiculous the post-hunger games dystopian YA trend was. Every book was "society is sorted into *rolls dice* 5 groups based on *picks card* astrology signs. It is illegal to *throws dart at wall* sing. The main character is special because she *spins wheel* knows how to read. Two boys are in love with her."

Do you ever get rly pissed because the hunger games films could’ve told such a deep story with themes that reflect our own society’s oppressive systems

but instead they whitewashed the main leads, erased their disabilities, and pretty much romanticized the violence

Warriors is often characterized as being vain or self-centered when it comes to his appearance, but for me that's not true. Self-conscious is how i would describe it. Before the war, I don't think he cared about his appearance at all. He wasn't nobility, and on the battlefield, appearance isn't all that important if your face is covered by a helmet.

The war came with some very unexpected developments, like getting the Master Sword, skyrocketing through the ranks, meeting Impa, meeting Zelda, and more. As the one bearing the Hero's Spirit, he can handle those things.

But then he became Helen of Troy.

Hyrule is at war because Cia is in love with him. Her attraction had more to do with his heroic actions and nature than the appearance of his reincarnations, but...

Come on, that's not what the rumor mill is saying.

Word on the street is Warriors is so drop-dead gorgeous, so bootylicious, that the kingdom is fighting a war over him. He's the face that launched 1000 ships. So everyone has high expectations when they see him.

And Farore forbid he doesn't live up to those expectations every hour of every day.

Every time he introduces himself he sees that slightly disappointed look in the other person's face that he didn't live up to hype. What a tragedy he doesn't always conform to everyone's idea of the ideal man, that he looks like a person and not the divine image of beauty incarnate.

And the comments! "I thought you'd be taller" "I thought you'd be shorter" "You have some baby fat" "You look older than I expected" "Your hair is a little messy" "Your sleeve is too wrinkly" On and on about things he used to never notice or care about. It's worse when he's at a noble gathering and Zelda is using him as a prop to drum up support for the war effort, but even on the field he can't escape it.

Farore forbid Warriors go without a shower for a few days and have helmet hair because there's a war. "You have to look presentable for the troops or it'll lower morale." Of course it'll lower morale. He's Helen of Troy. His beauty is the point. He has to look presentable.

All this results in Warriors having a lot of anxiety around his appearance. He checks himself in the mirror over and over for imperfections he didn't notice the first time. And even after that he can't shake the feeling that he's somehow doing it wrong or missed something, and everyone is secretly laughing at how silly he looks and he's embarrassing Zelda by simply being in public.

The Soul King Energy Has Always Been In Him, I Think.

The soul king energy has always been in him, I think.

It's his day once again! This is my 6th year of brookposting on his birthday and I'm still as full of love for him as ever. Can't believe it took this long for me to draw a guitar.

Bonus: fashion is all about subverting expectations

the intimacy of being tired together. a head on a chest while falling asleep to the thump thump thump of your love’s heart. those delirious giggles you get directed at nothing in particular. to be wrapped in a cocoon of blankets on a cold winter’s night, bodies as close and intertwined as humanly possible to keep warm. there’s nothing i want more than to drift off in the arms of the one i love.

One thing I don't see talked about enough is the amazing cast of women who make up Dead Boy Detectives.

One Thing I Don't See Talked About Enough Is The Amazing Cast Of Women Who Make Up Dead Boy Detectives.

And I don't mean throw-away, there-for-the-sake-of-having-a-girl women. I mean actual, three-dimensional characters, with their own wants, goals, and emotional character arcs that exist independent of the titular ghost boys.

This is a show that runs laps around the Bechdel test in episode one and never looks back.

This is a show that's full of women who are allowed to be messy, complicated, brave, funny, scared, angry, and lash out in their pain. This is a show that's full of women who are allowed to learn from their mistakes, and grow, and change.

This is a show that's full of women who talk to each other, and support each other, and give each other advice about life.

One Thing I Don't See Talked About Enough Is The Amazing Cast Of Women Who Make Up Dead Boy Detectives.

And this is a low bar, but given the state of media today it's a big deal: there is never a single scene in this show that sexualizes a female character. A lot of action movies and supernatural shows frame the women on their cast to show off an ass, or the curve of a breast. Not here. The women are fully covered. They're framed to show their faces and their emotions, because what they're feeling is the important part. It's focused on who these women are as people and not what they can show to entice an audience.

Women in Dead Boy Detectives are heroes and catalysts who are learning to be better people.

One Thing I Don't See Talked About Enough Is The Amazing Cast Of Women Who Make Up Dead Boy Detectives.

They're earnest and clever and processing their own grief and sense of mortality.

One Thing I Don't See Talked About Enough Is The Amazing Cast Of Women Who Make Up Dead Boy Detectives.

They're complicated antagonists who have journeys of their own to walk.

One Thing I Don't See Talked About Enough Is The Amazing Cast Of Women Who Make Up Dead Boy Detectives.

They're cynical, distrustful father figures learning to reluctantly look out for others.

One Thing I Don't See Talked About Enough Is The Amazing Cast Of Women Who Make Up Dead Boy Detectives.

They're cruel and funny and vengeful and have been torn down by a world that did them wrong.

One Thing I Don't See Talked About Enough Is The Amazing Cast Of Women Who Make Up Dead Boy Detectives.

And those are only the main ladies in this cast. There are an absolute pile of supporting women who run the gamut from hilarious to heartbreaking.

I could go on for literal paragraphs about how refreshing it was to see wrongs against women treated as wrongs in the script, or how I have literally never before seen a woman turn down a protagonist romantically and not be villified for it, or how much of a breath of fresh air it was to see a woman's primary emotional arc be an arc about learning to become a better person, but my goodness, there's all that and more.

Nobody is doing it like Dead Boy Detectives, and by god, I love to see it.

the thing is ☝️ we are introduced to padme as the ultimate cog in the republic (soon to be imperial) machine . she is 14, queen of a whole planet, and easily manipulated. she is used as a weapon by palpatine blatantly and no one cares. padme has to be stoic, monotone and come up with a winning battle plan at 14 or everyone she knows dies. she does the impossible and it doesn’t even matter because that was what palpatine wanted!!

is it not that classic star wars “poetry” then, for her to die resisting the help of machines, for once allowing herself to fully feel? does it not rock that the first time we hear padme truly scream is on her deathbed, refusing to live in a galaxy so cruel it’s denied her this right?? fuck “died of sadness” jokes. fuck “palpatine sapped her life force” theories . padme could only find catharsis in death & that’s her whole character !!!

I think the Jedi council should have at least considered sending obi-wan over to Dooku to be like “yes hello I am here for sith training” just to see what would happen
