Hey hi hello I’d love to know more about the Zeus you worship compared to how he is portrayed in myths (if you are willing to share!)
I got a few asks regarding Zeus in my inbox, so take this as a reply to all of them :")
I worshipped Zeus for a while before becoming a slavic pagan. And i really feel like I am connected to his fatherly aspect the most.
In myths, you may not see Zeus' fatherly aspect a lot. But in fact, when you look into history and etymology blablabla.. you will see that Zeus is connected to the Proto Indo European god Dyeus Pater. Aka Sky Father. And at that time i was really nerdy about the P.I.E pantheon of gods 😭😂 so i kinda incorporated that aspect of Dyeus Pater into Zeus, and adapted it.
But enough about that! What i wanted to say is, i remember Zeus being very protective, fatherly etc!
So that's the aspect of Zeus i wish more people saw... The kind, overprotective, strong and fatherly aspect. If people just gave him a chance instead of being judgemental, they would most likely see it! <3
Zeus, the Lonely God
Zeus, whose wife Hera is shrewish and uptight. Unable to challenge her husband in terms of power and so makes his life miserable whenever she could.
Zeus, the King of the Gods, has to keep his kin's chaos under control so that all the realms of the Sea, the Underworld, and the Heavens are kept running smoothly. So that his brothers may peacefully run their realms at ease.
Zeus, who has no one to confide himself to, save for the women in the mortal realm who allows Zeus to be ANYTHING but the King of the Gods.
Where Zeus could, for a moment, cast off the worries of his duties and be a swan or a shower of gold coins. To not be the King of the Gods, and to find respite from the dramatics of Olympus in the laps of Io or Alcmene, who are happy to give Zeus the peace he needs.
In exchange, Zeus blesses them with a portion of the Gods' majesty, and in his way grants them immortality through the children they bear.
I also feel like Disney’s Hercules got his voice perfect
it’s not the most myth accurate but I love the movie and I think it did Zeus pretty well but especially his voice
one thing I love of Luke Holt voicing Lord Zeus is that his voice is LOUD, booming, commanding, like the thunder, but also like The King should be. But in the same vein, that voice could be soft, fatherly, loving. Which for Lord Zeus, King of Olympus, father to many, is really fitting.
