I always thought cowards ran, but now I know, sometimes the only way to win is to run away.
His feet hit the ground, kicking up large dust clouds. He's exposed. Rips and tears making his clothing unrecognizable. There's cuts on his skin and dirt in his blood. He can feel his head ache, a soft ringing in his ear reminding him to never forget.
Sometimes the only way to win is to run away; can he win? Is he fast enough? Is he angry enough? He had all the energy in the world, tonight he'll take flight, far far away.
He didn't look back as he ran, he ignored the screams for help—ignored the fires hunger. The ache in his bones, his blood mixing in with that of others; he ignored everything.
He had to.
"Forgive me." He said to no one. The cool night air whipped him across the face; he accepted forgiveness with grace. "Thank you..."
When no one's around to listen there's no sound heard; when no one's alive to accept forgiveness you can't possibly be forgiven.
It's said on that night, after the winds whipped him, the heavens looked down upon him. They granted him rebirth—a phoenix made of pure hydro—and he took flight to Liyue.
When his feet hit soil once more he was greeted by a lone man. Although man wouldn't possibly be enough to describe him—he held himself like a God.
How interesting.
"Where am I?" He's tired. "Who are you?"

Childe's purpose in Liyue was to play the part of the fool in Signora's plans, all the while ensuring she didn't completely fuck it up.
Given her idea to "test the people of Liyue" was to release a sealed god on them and call it a day, for whatever reason believing this was an entirely reasonable benchmark to test independence on, Childe had a lot of preparations to do to keep the entire thing from collapsing in on itself like his mental stability in the abyss. Fortunately, there seemed to be enough pieces on the board for Childe to maybe possibly hopefully swing this in a way where everything worked out.
Now, if only they would stop leaving jobs like this to the blind guy.

Childe had always assumed that he would die young. He had accepted that a long time ago, ever since he accepted the mantle of a Fatui Harbinger. However, he always thought that he would die in a glorious fight, his body broken but spirit relishing the strong opponent that had bested him. He was okay with that type of death.
Unfortunately, it seemed like Fate had decided to add one last insult to injury, because, here Childe was, dying because he had fallen in love with the ex-Geo Archon. The same Archon who seemed to have discarded him like an old toy ever since the Osial Incident.

I like imagining that Zhongli was present as a dad to half citizens of Liyue and the other half didn't saw him as a dad, but he managed to help them somehow throughout their lives.
And when he hangs out with Childe he is like "oh, did you knew that when Beidou was 7 she slipped through this mountain inside a bowl and Xiangling's first recipe almost set the city on fire" "how do you know that? Are you their dad?/j" "yes" "what" "what"

Been getting into JttW cause OSP mixed with Black Myth mixed with LMK. I was thinking, "Huh, Sun Wukong reminds me of Childe a bit" With their mischievous nature, inclination for battle, wanting to be equal or surpassing gods, being attached to a wise man...
And I was thinking of a fanfic where Childe ends up back in time during the Archon War and ends up obtaining the name Wukong, maybe he defeats some gods that were attacking a village and tells the people he has no name to avoid time travel problems so they call him Sun Wukong.
Kinda like those fanfics where the "Hero Ajax" he gets his name from is just him having been sent back in time, but as Sun Wukong. The only thing is that Childe commands water, but Sun Wukong does not have the greatest record with water, but he can also control it to an extent so.
Morax does not understand this monke but he is enchanted and also as equally unhinged for battle. Or he's like Tripitaka expy.
Maybe he stays human, abyss-tainted granted, maybe he turns into Monke cause abyss taint reasons or he becomes an adaptus--maybe the story of Wukong changed it from near death to achieving enlightenment. Zhongli knows Childe is Wukong, and Wukong isn't dead or anything he just goes into hiding until his younger self does the time travel thing.
I wish I had the motivation to write.

i fucking hate people who insist that zhongli and xiao are related when it's literally just a (might i add, weird) headcanon
people really be inventing problems: "they're father and son!" no they're not? "the age gap!" excuse me but last time i checked childe and zhongli have a bigger age gap and the only reason you don't find shipping them weird is because they're the same height??? but the height difference suddenly doesn't make a ship "look wrong" when it's venti and zhongli??? i'm tired of this fucking fandom for making me feel bad for shipping a literal normal ship
i love zhongxiao so much. i think it's such a beautiful ship and i take it upon myself to popularize and destigmatize it in this fandom 'cause it really does deserve the attention like other ships with them get (xiaolumi, zhongchi, xiaoven etc)
