"But Good Taste, Even In Books, Hasnt Always Been Used To Help People Connect To The Things Theyre Likely

"But “good taste,” even in books, hasn’t always been used to help people connect to the things they’re likely to enjoy. It has often been used to police access to power, marginalize communities, and reinforce existing privilege, and to argue that some specific experiences, perspectives, ways of creating art, and entertainment are “universal human experience.”

On the Bad Binary of “Good” and “Bad” Literature by Josh Cook one of the best articles I have read in a long time! a spectacular read I highly recommend it!

100 Days Of Getting My Life Together - Day 3

ʚ - Slept for about 10 hours like a baby, woke up for breakfast.

ʚ - today I ate very well I had breakfast with "masitas" I don't know how to say in spanish they are like little pancakes but no, I had lunch with salty chicken, egg, onion and more things, I ate papaya, I had roasted chicken with rice, potatoes and salads and finally before going to sleep I made me arepas with sugar in the shape of a heart.

ʚ - today my body was not able to do a normal training day so I did pilates for 10 minutes and danced around my room for a while.

insights: i love music it fills me with life, i feel that god is with me many times in those little moments where i dance in my room with songs from the 90s.

the manifesto (manifestation & self-knowledge)

Today I decided to do an exercise of self-knowledge and manifestation that I believe can help you if you feel lost of your goal, disconnected from you, feel that you don't know yourself or that you don't have personality or you are not "you".

It has many names and variations and I call it "the manifesto" because it is basically what we are going to do, it will be a text where we say everything we are, we want to be, we love and we feel without fear or sorrow, this will allow us to have a pure reference of who we are / we want to be.

it allows us to see ourselves without fear of being judged for who we really are, the process of getting to know ourselves and ending the cycle of shame by being happy and authentic is a long process and these exercises help us to gradually see ourselves as people and take care of ourselves.

remember that you are not what you have, your physical possessions do not make you valuable or unique, your passions, your values, your compassion and your love for you is what is real.

The Manifesto (manifestation & Self-knowledge)

step by step:

ʚ - Grab a piece of paper or create a document on your cell phone or coputer.

ʚ - name it the manifest of (your name) or a name that vibrates with you.

ʚ - start by saying your name is and write down everything you are, your qualities, the things you are still working on, your physical qualities, etc.

ʚ - write your likes and dislikes like (your name) love romance movies, exercising with friends, etc. just things you love to do or want to start doing that you love like painting again.

ʚ - read it and reflect on who you are, imagine being someone else and appreciate all the little things that make you who you are.

ʚ - save it and add to it, take away some and create a manifesto of who you are and what you love.

The Manifesto (manifestation & Self-knowledge)

The Manifesto (manifestation & Self-knowledge)

The most important thing is to be honest and have no filter, it is for you, say that thing that you feel is ashamed for liking only for fear of what others say, put those characteristics that you feel embarrassed to say out loud for not sounding egocentric say "I'm awesome at my job" without shame, it is your safe space and it is yours, treat it with love.

any questions my ask is open! best of luck and love.

xoxo ana

ʚ - It's never too late to do what you've always wanted to do, go to that dance or guitar class, tell your friends to go on that trip or finally tell them something you've been holding back because of grief, allow your soul to have thousands of first times forever.

Challenging Negative Self-talk

Challenging Negative Self-talk

challenging negative self-talk

negative self-talk is the automatic, often subconscious stream of thoughts criticising or belittling oneself. it’s like having an internal critic constantly pointing out your faults, mistakes, and shortcomings. this self-talk differs from constructive self-criticism, which is goal-oriented and aimed at improvement.

why does it happen? negative self-talk can stem from various sources:

past experiences: childhood events, critical parents, or bullying at school can implant a seed of self-doubt that grows over time.

negative feedback: traumatic experiences may lead individuals to internalize feelings of inadequacy or failure.

recognizing and challenging negative self-talk is essential for maintaining mental well-being and achieving personal growth.

breaking the cycle of negative self-talk involves several strategies:

awareness: recognize when negative thoughts arise and pay attention to patterns and triggers. challenge their validity. are they based on evidence or assumptions?

question your thoughts: ask yourself: “is this thought helpful?” or “is it accurate?” try and replace irrational thoughts with more balanced ones.

positive affirmations: create positive statements about yourself. repeat them daily. focus on your strengths and achievements.

mindfulness and meditation: practice mindfulness to observe thoughts without judgment. meditation can help reduce anxiety and improve self-awareness.

seek professional help: consider therapy (e.g., cognitive-behavioural therapy) to address deeper issues.

remember - breaking the cycle takes time and effort, but it's essential for your well-being!

The main goal of all your personal growth and healing projects should be to enjoy your life more, be happier, leave the pain and guilt behind, let your life be full of things that make you happy and good, no matter what others think, accept that people will misunderstand you and believe that you give cringe and that does not matter.
