trust, me i know that long-term motivation and consistency is hard. long-term motivation might be difficult to maintain, but there are effective techniques to help you stay focused and determined. whether you're seeking personal ambitions, academic achievements, or professional success, here are some strategies to help encourage motivation:

understand the reason behind your goal ☆ does your goal contribute to personal growth or meaningful relationships? ☆ how does your goal impact others? ☆ is your goal meaningful to you? if your goal lacks meaning, it may be hard to maintain motivation.

positive and negative motivation motivation can come from different places ☆ positive motivation: the desire to experience pleasure ☆ negative motivation: the desire to avoid something (an outcome) both types of motivation have their place, so learn to recognise what type fits in where. set up systems use your initial motivation to set up structures: ☆ create routines, systems and habits that help you towards your goal even when your motivation fluctuates ☆ when your emotions wane, rely on these systems and disciplines to maintain momentum

I've been postponing starting this for way too long out of fear of failure but the rational part of my brain knows this is b******t, so here I am.

Today I:

- wrote an essay ( as in an entire essay, because I procrastinated until the last moment, which is typical, really)

- presented said essay (quite successfully may I add. yay me!!)

- attended the weekly meeting of the political organisation I'm involved in

- did an online barre class ( my first barre class ever, and I'm actually excited to do it again tomorrow)

- drank over 3lt of water ( might not typically count as productive, but I'm really bad at drinking enough water, so I'm adding it for the accountability)

• went to an event that was hosted by the organisation I'm in

• started reading This is The Way The World Ends by Jen Wilde

I couldn't sleep at night so I ended up doing most of my studying then and then I fell asleep in the middle of the day and woke up 4 minutes before I needed to be out of the house (🥲) Somehow I made it though.

Also, I don't want to jinx it but the book I'm reading right now is sooo good (I barely started it, I just get easily excited)

Today was not a good day. I had one of those excruciating headaches that just won't go away and it hurt so bad I couldn't even read for pleasure. Eventually I fell asleep and woke up (thankfully pain-free) at 8pm so not a lot of time to be productive but I tried.

Looking back at the day my first instinct is to just feel really bad about it. I have to make a conscious effort to remind myself that not being "productive enough" doesn't make me a bad person. Hopefully the more I practice being kind and compassionate to myself the easier this will be but it's still astonishing how deep-rooted those toxic beliefs we grew up with are.

Anyway, today I did my best, and I took care of myself the best I knew how and that's enough.

From today on, I'm responsible for managing one of the social media pages of the organisation I'm in and it's mostly just reposting stuff from their other page but I'm still excited to do it.

In case you missed my other post there was a worm situation in my room which had the positive consequence of motivating me enough to *finally* clean my room. Mostly. Kinda. For someone who claims they want to live in a village forever it's ridiculous how much I hate bugs.

I don't mention it in every single post but I do usually have a really hard time with sleep, i have difficulty sleeping and end up waking up long before I'm rested, so falling asleep today in the middle of the day is really not that surprising and even though it meant I wasn't at all productive, it also meant I now have the energy to be productive tomorrow.
