Headcanons with this situation:

He's still bad at using his quirk because demi-gods often fight with weapons more than with their powers.

Zeus be like "as my son you better become a great hero and leader, like Herakles my favorite" and Kaminari's rebellious phase was investe his time in studies for Yuei and for becoming a rescue hero.

Maybe another student at Yuei is an half-blood and when they crossed paths their like the spidermans meme.

He's often attacked by monsters on his way to school (because Big Three's kids have a stronger smell), when he integrated Yuei he was stressed to be caught in a fight and fired (Mist canonically works in the disfavor of demigod). The dorms were a relief for him, even monsters won't go search for food near pro Heroes.

Momo is a mythology nerd and Kaminari doesn't have the heart to correct her or telling her most gods are jerk.

New headcanon: Denki Kaminari has dyslexia and adhd (the adhd is another side affect of his quirk and the dyslexia explains why he has bad grades).
