The Cape Cormorant is medium sized, with glossy blue-black plumage with an orange-yellow throat patch and turquoise eyes. They have a long and slim neck and short tail, while the wingspan is relatively short, as they are required to dive for their prey, such as anchovies and pilchard. For this, the webbed feet are vital in pushing them through the water and to chase after their prey. Once they had their fill, they return to the coast line, where they are often seen with outstretched wings. It was assumed that they were drying their wings, but it is also thought that it helps with the digestion process.

Sie haben einen langen und schlanken Hals und einen kurzen Schwanz, während die Flügelspannweite relativ kurz ist, da sie nach ihrer Beute wie Sardellen und Sardellen tauchen müssen. Klein Windhoek ist ein Wohnvorort mit überwiegend weißer Bevölkerung, was zu sehr hohen Immobilienpreisen führt. Viele ausländische diplomatische Vertretungen befinden sich in Klein Windhoek, darunter das südafrikanische Hochkommissariat (altes Berg-Hotelgebäude) und die russische Botschaft.

South African coastline is known as the “Graveyard of Ships” with well known ships like the ‘Arniston’, 'Birkenhead’ and 'Queen of the Thames’ coming to grief in these waters. The MFV Meisho Maru No. 38 was a small Japanese fishing vessel that ran aground in the stormy waters around L'Agulhas in the early morning hours of 16 November 1982. The accident occurred close to shore and the crew of 17 all managed to swim to safety, leaving the ship as the only casualty. After surviving seas than, at times, can produce swells of up to 30 metres, the ship finally broke apart a few years ago.

Die Meisho Maru No. 38 war ein kleines japanisches Fischereiboot, das in den frühen Morgenstunden des 16. November 1982 in den stürmischen Gewässern um L'Agulhas auf Grund lief Sicherheit und das Schiff als einziges Opfer hinterließ. Nachdem das Schiff Brandungen überstanden hatte, die zeitweise bis zu 30 Meter Dünung erzeugen konnten, brach das Schiff vor einigen Jahren endgültig auseinander.

East Fort Battery c.1782 is one of four coastal fortifications built and developed in Hout Bay during the period 1781–1806. Hout Bay was seen by the government of the day as the soft-underbelly of Cape Town, exposing it to a possible marine invasion from the South. It was preceded by West Fort, on the western side of the Bay which was established by the Dutch East India Company (DEIC) in 1781 and completed by the French Pondicherry Regiment based in the French Enclave City of the same name approx.50 miles south of Madras.

East Fort Battery c.1782 ist eine von vier Küstenbefestigungen, die zwischen 1781 und 1806 in Hout Bay gebaut und entwickelt wurden. Hout Bay wurde von der damaligen Regierung als die Schwachstelle von Kapstadt angesehen, die einer möglichen Marineinvasion aus dem Süden als Einfallstor dienen könnte. Ihm ging das West Fort auf der Westseite der Bucht voraus, das 1781 von der Niederländischen Ostindien-Kompanie (DEIC) gegründet und vom französischen Pondicherry-Regiment mit Sitz in der gleichnamigen französischen Enklave-Stadt ca. 80 Meilen südlich von Madras fertiggestellt wurde.

Sossus Oasis Camp is practically situated right in front of the entrance gate to the Namib-Naukluft National Park (Sossusvlei) at Sesriem, the area well known for the towering red sand dunes of the Namib Desert and the awe inspiring depths of the Sesriem Canyon. This new camp site offers in a clean, tidy and well kept environment 12 camping units, arranged in a semi-circle to afford privacy with views. Each unit has its own toilet, washbasin, hot/cold shower, kitchen wash-up facilities, light, BBQ and 220V electricity point. Other centralised facilities include a sparkling pool and, just a short walk away, a fully stocked shop, take-away meals, groceries, toiletries, drinks, ice, internet, clothing, curios, fuel, diesel and tyre workshop.

Solitaire is a remote settlement, at the edge of the Namib-Naukluft National Park which has been a welcome stopover for more than 60 years. A thirsty traveler will find cold drinks, ice cream, baked goods, coffee and lunch. You can fill up on petrol, have tyres repaired, and stretch your legs during the long drive from Sesriem to Swakopmund.

Solitaire ist eine abgelegene Siedlung am Rande des Namib-Naukluft-Nationalparks, die seit mehr als 60 Jahren ein willkommener Zwischenstopp ist. Ein durstiger Reisender findet kalte Getränke, Eis, Backwaren, Kaffee und Mittagessen. Für die lange Fahrt von Sesriem nach Swakopmund kann man Benzin tanken, Reifen reparieren lassen und die Beine vertreten.
