Pro-shippers Talk About Not Having To Apply Morality To Works Of Fiction And Thats True But Also You
Pro-shippers talk about not having to apply morality to works of fiction and that’s true but also you don’t even have to apply morality to your interests. If you’re interested in fucked up shit? Cool, you rock! As long as no one is being harmed at any capacity? Read your horror porn! Ship those brothers to hell and back! You don’t need to be deeply traumatized to enjoy fucked up fiction. I’m pretty sure tumblr and twitter are the only two places this is an insane concept.

That anon telling you to go to a library made me chuckle. My mom read "Lolita" at a public library when she was 12. It's why she's a pediatric forensic psychiatrist now. The idea of libraries as having less problematic content than fic is silly. But also, the idea of libraries being easily accessible is wild to me. I live in a rural area and it's a 30 minute drive to my local underfunded, understaffed library, which largely gets books from people donating their used books periodically. Due to poor funding, it's not accessible for nearly as many hours as anyone would like. Fanfic is free and accessible quickly at all hours. "Go to a library!" Where? When? Both of the other towns nearest me have shut down their public libraries. The one I have access to has to keep cutting hours.
If they really valued libraries, anon should go out and try harder to get people to utilize the libraries around them so they survive and continue to get funding. Degrading fanfic doesn't make libraries better off. It just makes people go, "Oh, so libraries are full of assholes like this guy."
And the wildest thing is, due to severe trauma from having one of the most toxic relationships of my life due to fandom, I don't even like fanfic right now. But even my highly-biased, emotionally-clouded ass can clearly see the flaws in this "fic bad, library good" argument. And when someone who's messed up and has and issues with the medium of literature in question still sees it more clearly than you... anon, maybe this is a sign you've got some biases to work through.
The best part, though? I was introduced to fanfic by librarians who liked my fanfics (though I didn't know what they were called) about Monster High characters meeting monsters from other franchises and becoming one big found family. The guardians of "real literature", for whatever absurd definition of that we're using today, have always been in favor of "fake literature", because they know that actually, both are lit.
I have nothing to add to this. 10/10 perfect points.
(Except that just like you, my closest library is almost a full hour away in any direction and the one that used to be five minutes away got closed down to "make room for profit-oriented business" which never happened, and now a perfectly usable space for a library is sitting and rotting.)
That discord server post made me remember the stark difference between Serverstuck (a minor populated server) and Degrees of Lewdity (strict adult-only server)
Serverstuck has the worst mods and owner I've seen because they're all Antis and abuse the rules by excusing anyone who are close to them & punishing others who are strangers, lying to people on why some got banned, and allowed sensitive political topic go unregulated
Degrees of Lewdity, despite filled with people who has crude & cursed-level sense of humor, has strict mods & owner, write the correct information on why some people are banned or muted (they even allow users to request to be ban from the server for mental health reasons), and immediately shut down any conversation of sensitive political topics that cause infighting between members
I feel safer in a server for an adult game development than a "minor friendly" homestuck rp server
While I do welcome servers that have a mixed age range, I don't think I've ever or will ever join a server moderated or owned by someone who is either/both an anti or a minor.
To run or moderate a server you need to be impartial, objective, socially aware, able to appropriately manage conflict and relatively socially seasoned. I've personally found most minors often lack or are incapable of most if not all of these qualities.
(And that's not me hating on minors or calling them ignorant. Some of those qualities are just things you learn or develop with age and time. Some adults never learn them at all, even, but they are qualities you need if you're going to, essentially, be in charge of other people.)
Sephiroth's Server Safety Tips
Always do a thorough check into who is advertising the server, who owns the server, and other members before joining a server where possible.
Once you've joined the server, immediately use the search function to look for key words related to topics you want to avoid, possible past conflict, bullying, ect.
Immediately check the server rules. Its a red flag in itself if the server doesn't have any. Also, 'just be nice' is not a rule. Servers should have clear, clean cut rules and regulations.
Don't be afraid to message server owners, moderators or users privately and ask questions. They shouldn't get offended and if they can't or won't answer questions about basic rules, server safety protocols, ect, you should reconsider joining.
Don't be afraid to ask around other people to see if the server is known or has a reputation, either. If a server is based on a specific fandom, for example, search through that fandom for any past mentions of the server or ask other fans if they've heard of it.
Yeah, I'm not gonna tell you to kill yourself but honestly your blog is so fucking embarrassing. It's 2024. Get a fucking hobby. Not only are you publicly defending incest and not listening to others that tell you that shits weird, you're talking, once again, publicly about cumming to it. That's some weird, freaky shit dude. I implore you to either get a hobby or get help.
I'll admit I do have a little fun with this blog, like bait-playing the people who intentionally try to insult me or upset me, but generally, the purpose of this blog is, as stated, open discussion between different perspectives, on fiction vs reality, and on the nuances of morality.
I'm not publicly defending incest, either. Which you'd know if you properly read and understood my posts. I'm defending fictional incest. Because it isn't actual, real incest. Its fake. Its victimless. Its the hypothetical exploration of something.
If its embarrassing to you for someone to be having these discussions and making these points, then it just means you don't really understand the actual purpose of them and the reality behind the separation of fiction and real life.
Its perfectly fine for you to dislike certain topics or themes. Nobody should ever try to force you into enjoying or even supporting something you dislike or cannot morally validate, but such is the spirit of this blog, that doesn't inherently mean its bad and shouldn't exist at all. That doesn't mean those things can't exist in a capacity where it can't hurt anyone or cause harm.
Incest and pedophilia are the 'big two' that people love to throw around—and at me—but there's actually so much more to these discussions than those. I don't want 90% of my posts to be regurgitating the same points about the same topics, but there's always people who rigidly circle back to them in an attempt to shut down my side of the discussion, or my perspective.
And it won't. It just mildly frustrates me, and then I start typing.
Its always 'get a hobby' or 'get a life' but the exact same could be said for people who use their time online to send death threats and whine about how fictional content contains real victims. I wouldn't be here if they weren't. Where are their hobbies? Why aren't you telling them to get a life?
And, on the subject about cumming to things; its quite literally just a response to being told to kill myself, or to someone wishing harm on me or people I care about.
Wouldn't you say a few orgasms are infinitely less harmful than that?
By the way, whoever sent me all those asks just now with the boring little threats and insults, know that I've had an orgasm to Starker and Sebiel porn for every single one of them ❤
Next time its gonna be Wincest.
By the way if you're creating a space like a private group chat or a Discord server it is absolutely your responsibility to make sure that space is safe.
It is your responsibility to moderate it. To regulate the behavior displayed within it. To take action when people create harm. You cannot just create this space then wash your hands of any responsibility for what happens within it.
I keep seeing so many teens making servers and chats and groups and then whining that they're getting bullied for not doing anything when people use them to cause harm and upset and I cannot stress this enough.
You are responsible for shutting that down. Or for sourcing someone to do it on your behalf. You have control of that space. You are not just an innocent bystander.
"Anything goes here, if you're offended just leave" is absolutely not an excuse for blatantly allowing things like harassment, bullying, racism, homophobia and other targeted hate.
Discord in particular is incredible for available resources for preventing things like this. There are literally hundreds of server bots you can deploy to auto-moderate and manual moderation is as easy as two little clicks.
If you feel you're responsible enough to be in the position of power of creating a space, you are responsible enough to ensure it is not used for harm.
And if you're not?
Well.
