I Think TLOU Does Something Really Interesting, Where It Uses Exposition To Show Personality.

I think TLOU does something really interesting, where it uses exposition to show personality.

Like, when Ellie asks Joel about the world and he answers, it isn’t just ‘let me talk about the awesome world building we did’, but it’s also showing Ellie’s curiosity and efforts to bond with Joel, and Joel’s sort of grumpy knowledge about how everything just is.

I just think it’s very well done 👍

Since The Last of Us won best “superhero” series at the Critics Choice Awards, what was your favorite part of The Last of Us (the superhero show)?

My favorite part was when Captain Dad used his superpowers of grief and mental illness to kill Doctor Firefly and begin the origin story of Golf Girl.

I watched the Oscars tonight and I gotta say that the clear absence of Pedro Pascal and Kieran Culkin jokingly beefing was a really unfortunate direction to take an awards show

y’know, I watched NATLA the other day (I—like 99% of everyone who’s ever seen it—loved the original) and hot take, hear me out, I know this sounds crazy but… I THINK the original animated show was better (😱😱😱)

But because I’m obsessed, it got me thinking about the Last of Us. Making a good TV show is difficult as hell, and making a good adaptation, especially one not based off a book?! Really rough. I think it just sorta goes to show how GOOD TLOU HBO is that it not only captured the magic of the Video Game, but was just so fantastic in all regards. Writing, acting, cinematography, set-design. I think it was really special. It just helped me appreciate how hard it must’ve been to nail even more.

More TV shows should look to TLOU on how to make not just a good adaptation, but also a good show. Everywhere TLOU thrived, NATLA struggled. It’s just a fascinating dichotomy imo

I’m so happy non-binary and gender non-comforming people are getting recognition for their amazing work!!!

…I’d be even happier if they didn’t have to be misgendered to receive said recognition but I guess Hollywood and Broadway are somehow less inclusive than the fucking DMV

Y’know what I want for society? If someone says they like a piece of media and someone else doesn’t, they’ll just say “it wasn’t for me.” Or even “I didn’t like it.” instead of saying “actually that piece of media is objectively badly written. You’re wrong for liking it and I’m right for not liking it.”

Also like, equality or whatever.
