“Fancy seeing you here.” Draco attempts a casual and approachable smile as he slides up to Harry at the bar. 

“Go away Malfoy,” Harry grumbles. Draco watches as he knocks back the shot in front of him. The rainbow light from the dance floor glints off of the delicate curve of Harry’s jaw and he watches his throat as it undulates. Draco wants to touch him so badly his hands shake. He clasps them tightly under the bar where Harry can’t see them. 

“I heard you got information from Kingsley on the coveted dragon case,” He adds, trying to sound conversational and not at all bitter. 

“Oh Draco, jealousy doesn’t look good on you,” Harry responds softly. Draco’s eyes narrow as he watches Harry’s left hand drift down to his back pocket. There poking out is a thick wad of parchment. Really, Draco thinks,  Harry should know better than to wander around with important information sticking out where anyone could grab it. He steps closer moving his legs to bracket Harry on either side. 

“Let me buy you a drink.” He says slowly watching the way Harry’s eyes flicker across his lips. 

“Oh fuck off,” Harry responds refusing to meet his eyes. 

Forget the drink, Draco thinks. He crowds into Harry’s space and uses his pale broad hand to cup Harry’s cheek. He leans in and their lips brush. Suddenly they’re kissing and Draco wants Harry in bed spread out beneath him. He wants him so much he bites down on his lip until he tastes metal. 

His head swimming, he commands himself to focus. Carefully he skims Harry’s waist with his hand before reaching further back. His long fingers twist against parchment and then he’s ripping away. Their gazes tangle for a second and Harry looks wrecked, his irises blown out and dark against his tanned skin. Draco forces himself to turn. Gasping for breath he pushes into the crowd, vanishing. 

“Jesus christ, why can’t you just move on already?” Harry spits at him, shoving his chest hard.

Draco stumbles on the cobblestones. He knows Harry only uses muggle swears when he’s fully lost grip of his emotions, when he’s wound so tight he can’t help but let go. Draco wracks his brain for a retort. He’s about to respond that Harry had been watching him too, or that Harry’s the one who followed him out of the pub, but suddenly Harry’s lips are on his and his mind goes blank.

They don’t kiss so much as collapse into each other. Harry tastes like cheap cocktails and smells like home. Draco lets himself melt into his body like wax against a hot flame. Harry pushes his chest hard a second time. Draco stumbles back into the stone wall behind them. He gasps for air for a second before Harry’s lips are on him again. They kiss rough, hard. Harry bites Draco’s lip until he tastes metal. Draco grabs his belt loops pulling his hips tight against him. He shoves his hands up under Harry’s soft t-shirt and drags his nails down his back. He hopes he leaves marks.

When Ginny rescues Pansy from the dragon she’s soaking wet and shivering. 

“Pansy?” Ginny calls out tentatively as she swoops further into the cave on her broom. 

“Yes, I’m right here.” Pansy responds, managing to sound quite aristocratic for someone who’s been imprisoned with a dragon for several weeks. 

“Oh thank god,” Ginny breathes. She watches as a bedraggled Pansy slowly stands up from the darkest corner of the cave. She immediately notices the way she’s supporting herself on the slippery rock walls and favoring her left arm. A heavy weight fills her chest quickly followed by a burning rage. She wishes she’d had time to properly threaten the dragon before she’d sent it off to Charlie. Dropping her broom carelessly onto the mossy cave floor she runs to Pansy. 

“Took you long enough.” Pansy says haughtily. Ginny can tell from the quirk of her lips that she’s relieved.

Harry is cleaning their study when he comes across the small silver vial. The label is written in Draco’s tight font: Lucius Malfoy Casts Love Curse on H. Potter and D. Malfoy, Security Camera Footage. Harry stands for a second looking at it with a fond smirk. They’d never caught Lucius so they didn’t know what he’d been aiming for with the curse but Harry is sure it wasn’t this.

“Draco!” He calls as he climbs the stairs to their bedroom. “Look what I’ve found.” He tosses the bottle at Draco who’s curled up fast asleep across the bright white sheets.

 “Harryyyy.” Draco whines squirming a little as he tries to bury his head under the pillow. 

Harry gazes at him. Weak sunlight drifts through the curtains and falls across his pale skin. He looks so relaxed, so at home that Harry’s heart squeezes. He’ll never get tired of looking at him. 

“No seriously Draco get up. I need someone to reminisce with.” He grabs the bottle off the bed and wiggles it in Draco's face. Draco groans and props himself up in a sitting position brushing his long blonde hair out of his eyes. He squints at the bottle for a second. 

“Is this what I think it is? The beginning of our fated romance?” His tone rings of poorly concealed hilarity. 

“Yes,” Harry responds grinning. “I thought we could watch it together. You know. For nostalgia.” 

“Fine alright. I can’t believe you woke me up for this,” Draco complains as he gazes at Harry fondly. 

Harry perches on the bed beside him and accio’s the pensive over. Carefully he upends the swirling silver vial and reaches over to catch Draco’s hand in his own. Together they press their faces into the cool liquid.

Harry’s the first to rip himself from the memory. Eyes wide and hands shaking he waits for Draco to emerge. He stares at Draco’s pale large hands, at his aristocratic posture. He thinks about the way Draco looks in his formal robes, how hard Harry had to work to convince him to grow his hair out because he was worried he would look like his father.

 Harry takes a deep breath as everything clicks into place.

When Draco finally straightens up out of the pensive Harry sees his shock mirrored in Draco’s grey eyes.

“Well,” Draco says slowly, looking at him wryly. “I guess we need to get our hands on a time turner.”
