a few things you should keep in mind when studying mbti

cognition ≠ behavior

yes, our cognition affects our behavior, and if you believe in mbti, it surely affects our behavior too. with that said, you should keep in mind that we are complex human beings and it's impossible for us to act exactly like our type all the time.

which takes us to the next one

mbti is also about motivation

it's not just about your first reaction to stuff or your mental process when making a decision. it's also about your motivation with your actions. you did that thing. why? what were you trying to do when you did that? what were you thinking to do that? were you trying to find an effective solution to your problems? or maybe you were just trying to understand how that worked and why it worked like that?

write down your mental process

this one, seriously, do it before you understand the cognitive functions!! write down your thinking process when making a decision, write down every single thing you can think about your personality. it'll be useful. also if you have the patience to do so, write a very detailed journal about your thoughts for a couple days but those tips will work only if you have self knowledge.

be careful about the sources you're using

this is so important, I can't say it enough. it's pretty rare to find a trustable source to study mbti besides the books so if you're checking websites, be extra careful please.

I'd recommend you to check this website https://www.typeinmind.com/ it's the most trustable source I found

don't trust tests

yes, there are tests that can help you to have an idea about your mbti (16p is not included for god's sake) like sakinorva or the mistype investigator test, but the only way of being sure about your type is studying the functions and having enough self-knowledge.

Recently, my friend and I took the MBTI personality test and found out that we have one type - INFJ-T. I decided to draw us like in the pictures that the test showed ⭐

Recently, My Friend And I Took The MBTI Personality Test And Found Out That We Have One Type - INFJ-T.

She had a picture with a girl, I had with grandfather, no matter how many times I took the test (so the test basically showed that I'm that one grumpy gramps lol)

Mind : Introverted (I) vs. Extraverted (E)

In the first scale of Five Personality Aspects, which called Mind, determines how we see and approach the outside world, including people, objects and activities within it.

People who are considered Extraverts (E) are not as sensitive to outer stimuli and need to seek them out in order to gain a kind of functional equilibrium and to perform well. Introverts (I), on the other hand, are more sensitive and need to escape the same stimuli in order to be more functional. Unlike Extraverts, Introverts can quickly exhaust their mental energy reserves, and they will only tolerate such situations so long before they yearn for solitude and quiet.

Research shows that Introverts are significantly more likely to report being sensitive to noise and bright colors, and they also strongly prefer simplicity and minimalism in their environment (especially if their Introversion is coupled with the Thinking trait). Likewise, they do not seek or require much external stimulation – while communicating with other people is the most obvious example of such stimulation, this concept also extends to things like hobbies, political attitudes and even eating or drinking habits. For instance, Introverts are more likely to dislike coffee and energy drinks.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, Extraverts are more interested in engaging the environment – people and objects around them – and they need feedback as well. They are more energetic and willing to take the lead in many situations, especially social ones, and they enjoy pushing limits and challenging both themselves and those around them. People with Extraverted personality types are also more likely to feel that they can handle any challenges life throws their way. Obviously, whether that turns out to be true or not depends on many other circumstances, but generally speaking, Extraverts tend to be much more proactive in experiencing (and relying on) the world around them.

Finally, it is important to point out that the Mind scale does not determine how introspective or reflective we are – even though it may be tempting to confuse the two. There are introspective Extraverts and non-introspective Introverts. Ultimately, this scale is about how much stimulation we require and can absorb from our environment, not about what happens in our minds afterwards.

heyyy, reblogging with a note: pls be aware that 16personalities.com is based on the big 5/OCEAN model, rather than what MBTI was originally - based on Jungian personality typing. Enneagram may be helpful to you too as it's more about nurture (rather than nature, which MBTI is attempting to dissesct) and ways we respond to fears, and how we can grow as individuals

Heyyy, Reblogging With A Note: Pls Be Aware That 16personalities.com Is Based On The Big 5/OCEAN Model,

Personality typing like MBTI, OCEAN and enneagram is pseudo-science, but can still be helpful :)

I had to look up what infj-a was, but when I read it, I felt seen. It’s kind of scary the way it picks apart my personality and how much injustice really makes me upset. I’m an academic as well, and an artist, so a lot of that makes sense.

I'm glad you felt seen! Welcome to the rarest of personality groups. It's a bit of a blessing and a curse, imho.

For most of my life, I've wondered, "Am I the only one who feels/sees/experiences/thinks this way?" As I've gotten older and have interacted with more people, I realize that most people don't quite experience or think about things the way I do. I feel intensely and think deeply, and I wish I could turn it all off some days.....but I can't. I JUST FEEL SO DAMN MUCH. At times, it consumes me and it's something I am constantly working on.

So the next best thing has been for me to explore behaviors, personality traits, psychosocial influences, etc. to better understand what shapes us. And that's where the INFJ-A typing kicked in and resonated with me. I'm well aware that there have been raging debates about the scientific validity of MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), but anecdotally, I've found the personality typing to be personally helpful. They are more like theories of personalities to me...things you can use to guide and help you structure your thinking.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me! I really enjoy hearing about these things from others!

MBTI Types as Michael Scott Quotes

ENFJ: “Do I need to be liked? Absolutely not. I like to be liked. I enjoy being liked. I have to be liked, but it’s not like this compulsive need to be liked, like my need to be praised.

INFJ: “Society teaches us that having feelings and crying is bad and wrong. Well, that’s baloney, because grief isn’t wrong. There’s such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown.”

ENFP: “Sometimes I’ll start a sentence, and I don’t even know where it’s going. I just hope I find it along the way.”

INFP: “Well, well, well, how the turntables...”

ENTJ: “The only time I set the bar low is for limbo.”

INTJ:  “Guess what, I have flaws. What are they? Oh, I don’t know. I sing in the shower. Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I’ll hit somebody with my car. So sue me.”

ENTP: “I saved a life. My own. Am I a hero?… I really can’t say, but yes!”

INTP: “My philosophy is, basically this. And this is something that I live by. And I always have. And I always will. Don’t, ever, for any reason, do anything, to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who you are with, or, or where you are going, or, or where you’ve been. Ever. For any reason. Whatsoever.”

ESFJ: “Yes, it is true. I, Michael Scott, am signing up with an online dating service. Thousands of people have done it, and I am going to do it. I need a username. And I have a great one. Little Kid Lover. That way people will know exactly where my priorities are at.”

ISFJ: “I love inside jokes. I hope to be a part of one someday.”

ESFP:  “Sometimes you have to take a break from being the kind of boss that’s always trying to teach people things. Sometimes you just have to be the boss of dancing.”

ISFP: “I am Beyoncé, always.”

ESTJ:  “Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate. So he’s not really a part of our family. Also, he’s divorced, so he’s not really a part of his family.”

ISTJ:  “You know what they say? Fool me once, strike one but fool me twice.... strike three.”

ESTP: “Two weeks ago, I was in the worst relationship of my life. She treated me poorly, we didn’t connect, I was miserable. Now, I am in the best relationship of my life, with the same woman. Love is a mystery.”

ISTP:  “Friends joke with one another. Hey, you’re poor. Hey, your momma’s dead. That’s what friends do.”
