Apps, boards, cards, etc
Hey everyone,
October is AAC Awareness Month, and I wanted to take a moment to share what AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) is all about. AAC refers to various communication methods used by individuals who struggle to communicate through verbal speech alone.
I’ve been using a platform called Avaz, an AAC app that provides an incredible range of features and customizations to make communication more accessible. However, I’m hoping to secure a lifetime subscription to Avaz, which would ensure that I have permanent access to all the tools I need.
I’m asking for your help to make this possible. Whether it’s a small donation or spreading the word, any support would be deeply appreciated.
Here's our Kofi where you can donate!
Pixie see yet another person on tumblr actually saying “wish could be nonverbal “ …
Pixie not understand how anybody could actually want that … unless them really not know anything about what is actually like to actually be nonverbal .
Pixie really like being Pixie and yes that include being nonverbal !
but is terribly hard frustrating *expensive* difficult *dangerous* to be actually nonverbal .
is not a joke is not a choice is not fun is not SAFE .
imagine risk being killed by police officer just because . try get AAC out of pocket to answer thems question . because *could* be reaching for gun in pocket … yes this really do happen , too much , too often …
imagine emergency happen to loved person and not be able call get help …
imagine get in money trouble that require calling bank and . it take too long find somebody willing help . so get lots money fines for be late …
imagine just nobody want be friends because . not can communicate fast enough so . people just think “ so rude for not answer “ and just walk away . before can even start a reply …
Pixie have lots more want to say but . fingers hands wrists *hurt* . and . brain exhausted . from using AAC so much today . ( was speech therapy today ) .
somebody please can make this make sense why why why people say this ???
pixie not understand people being so disgustingly ableist .
; me when someone judges / insults how someone communicates ( irl or online ):

[ID: the bugs bunny very pleasant evening meme. It has been edited to read "I wish all AAC users a very pleasant disability pride month" /end ID]
No matter what type of AAC you use or how good your written language is I hope you have an amazing month and no one says shit to you about your AAC <3 we are literally all so cool <3

Is love our AAC because very pretty pretty nice can say what want and very comfortable wehee wehee.
And keyboard page is nice to. Key board is fun nice pretty.
Is still need fix up some stuff but is nice. Self is sleepy but is happy show little how use navigate. Goodbye
all AAC should be completely free forever. no there shouldn't be "free versions of paid AAC apps" i mean like every single feature and option should be free forever and ever. we should not have to pay to communicate.
How does one get over the fear surrounding using an AAC device/app? It's a mix of multiple things; I'm semiverbal, but feel as though I'm not semiverbal enough, and I technically 'can' speak most of the time (mind you I end up sounding like a five year old despite having a decent vocabulary: I stumble over my words and trail off at 'odd' times and the process ends up being frustrating if not physically agonizing) and therefore I feel unworthy of assistance; my tendency to just... not use my aids despite them helping (because I can technically survive without them) would result in the large amount of money being wasted (AACs can get pricey as fuck); the 'oh god I'm just attention seeking' voice; the 'Jesus fuck everyone is staring at me oh no' feeling that contradicts the 'you're attention seeking' voice but doesn't help the imposter syndrome for some reason; I don't want to be a nuisance when I can just force myself to speak at the consequence of exhaustion.
destigmatize being an Ipad kid, so that peace for aac users may follow
Many say “oh youre higher needs higher lv autism? you just communicate differently n that valid!!”
but, often see ppl often walk around or boil down to “if communicating At All then good”, what if cant? what if when Yom isnt thinking, communicating differently, or expressing At All?
unable to communicate doesnt equal less value. doesnt mean less human. often for self, we dont feel conscious. we often stare off or look at nothing and nothing at all in brain. lot of times we dont think, and other times think and daydream lots, but still no respond. lot of times cant even use own aac when needed most.
dunno how to describe for us, it just nothing
and not responding or doing anything at all doesnt equal ignoring you or “no”. often do want something but body does Nothing, so it assumed “no”.
For Yom, we often Are in our own world. perception of world so different. no less human. Not made for your world. Dont think or breathe same
still deserve love, even if not pleasing you. Been told many bad things because brain don’t communicate at all lot times. been assumed “bad person” because dont respond
This is all the time, not just selective mutism for I

everyone different, we are not fact for all. always ask when comfortable.
for us, it best to not force us to do anything, or keep asking “what wrong? what u want me to do?” when not responsive, cuz often can’t respond at all. it best to just make us feel safe n comfortable. so sick of ppl talking so much
[plz reblog]
