Jewels of Truth Statements & Favorite Quotes of the Month

Hello All, It seems again I've put off until the very last moment my most important segment entry for this blog site. That being the monthly trio of "Jewels of Truth" statements with a handful of notable quotations on personal character or spirituality itself. Today's triple play of spiritual wisdom statements are on the topics of: Speech, Innocence, and Forgiveness. In the series of #1036-1038 written originally back in late May 2010 into early June of that same year. As always may you find these statements intriguing if not otherwise mind expanding in terms of spiritual wisdom. Enjoy. -------------------------------------- Speech: 1036) Talk without intelligent substance is cheap to the senses and the very soul itself. Those who fear frivolous dialogue in serious relationships make a mockery not of themselves. But cast out any reason when their is none to be gauged overall. Silliness was the intent, no matter if the goal was ought neglected on its own principle. One must only accept constructive speech only when it builds upon the seed of the topic at hand. Any other feckless criticism especially one filled with salacious hate should be jettisoned right away. Turn your back on such a speaker for what they offer is only venomous to the senses. Even if there be a mote of truth in their diatribe on the principle of civilized speech it should be rejected. Since only well reasoned dialogue is worth consuming within one's own mind. No matter if one accepts or denies the perspective being offered in question. Fact or opinion it is all one in the dance of speech with the listener(s). Only be open to receive the truth when it is delivered in a benign to a compassionate manner. This will fortify your senses allowing you to grow into a greater human being. Those who are civil in discourse command a greater presence amongst their peers than those who are raving mad in fanatical speech. For the peace makers of the "Kingdom of God" ply the all inclusive holy truth in all manners that are wondrous. By superseding petty barriers of the heart and mind directing one's soul to the beauty of nature itself. Amen. ---Ivan Pozo-Illas / Atrayo. Innocence: 1037) From a great innocence comes a pure heart where the possibilities are truly endless. Naivete can be a source of inspirational strength when it is rightly applied by its inherent good nature.  Do not dismiss out of hand the innocence of a person with a genuine inquiry to learn. There before you lays an excellent opportunity to inform by teaching to a very willing pupil. Your knowledge and wisdom must not come at the price of your rude or mocking treatment of a very open student. Neither should one discourage the many attempts to reach a difficult person that is layered under pounds of emotional turmoil. You may very well become surprised that after you have gained the trust of a susceptible person abused by others. That you encounter the malleable clay of personal character that none other but the hand God has touched within a lifetime. The innocent be it a child, a creature of nature, and up to a full grown adult are truly inadvertent teachers by their own temperament. Any parent can attest to how they have reared the very young full of promise. By how they view the world akin to a very magical place. That purity of spirit be it from a child in youth or a simpleton doesn't denote stupidity, but rather the very creative mind altering "Spirit of God". A remnant of heaven on this Earth that is more angelic in nature. Than what is human until that is this turbulent world makes all attempts to stamp it out. Innocence delivers us closer to God without malice nor guile. For subterfuge has a very warm spot in hell for the deceiver. Truth followed by a pure or noble heart makes all the difference to those who make life not just bearable but magnificent for all. Amen.                                                                ---Ivan Pozo-Illas / Atrayo. Forgiveness: 1038) For those trapped by having been wronged by either a loved one, a friend, colleague, or a complete stranger. There are one of two paths to take within a lifetime. One is of turmoil inflicted by a narrow set of recriminations that holds you more hostage than the one that has wounded your pride or heart. Every time you revisit the drama in your mind's eye you torture your being just a little more. Just so you feel obligated to having made the right choice by having your emotional heart bleed and your intellectual mind feel vindicated. Congratulations, your now holding the high moral ground. Now don't you feel dandy and boastful in your very small and acidic ego having driven you to near madness. The second route is only of grace itself in the entire essence of God's own unconditional love in truth. Where by your freely willed permission you surrender your emotional pain and your mental anguish to God. You invite the "Holy of Holies" into the triangle of your worldly suffering. So that you may find peace of mind and of dear heart by releasing this awful pain. However by releasing such a hurtful turmoil you are proving no one to be right or wrong. You are seeking absolution from the "Spirit of God" within your very mind, heart, and divine soul. By accepting a wider truth into the equation so that you may move onward with your life. No matter if the other offending party pays no mind to your grief. Or worse shows no pity for the injury they have caused you in mind and heart. Hold not onto the pain and suffering this has caused you. Only just recall the lesson in an unbiased truth that this other person(s) has taught you under harsh treatment. So as to avoid it the very next time and more over not to become a victimizer yourself. By choosing to pass onward the vileness to another innocent person in a future exchange. Allow yourself to heal without regard of the approval desired from those you hold in esteem. This is your sanity and your grace that is most precious and not that of someone you can not control. Forgiveness is a healing medicine of the soul not just to mend hearts and minds, but to build moral personal character. It is compassion for the self directed inward being as well as for the outward life. When it is sought by persons who care knowing they have wronged you. Live upon such a truth and your life here on Earth will be all the better and brighter in your days to come. Amen. ---Ivan Pozo-Illas / Atrayo. ------------------------------------------------------- Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.                                                                                                                ---Mark Twain. Whoever is from God hears the words of God. ---John 8:47 Instead of condemning others, strive to reach inner peace. Keep silent, refrain from judgement. This will raise you above the deadly arrows of slander, insult and outrage and will shield your glowing heart against all evil. ---St. Seraphim of Sarov. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ... may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him. ---Ephesians 1:17 Holiness comes wrapped in the ordinary. There are burning bushes all around you. Every tree is full of angels. Hidden beauty is waiting in every crumb. ---Macrina Wiederkehr O.S.B. "A Tree Full of Angels"

(I made a speech and rlly messed it up so I'm putting it on here. It's basically about cool women being left out in history/school curriculums)

Historical Acknowledgement of Women

By @humblefryingpan

Good [morning/afternoon] and thank you for coming to listen. I have brought you here to talk about the absence of female lives, achievements and inventions from the school curriculum.

Over the course of history, women have been valued less than men. Even now, while we’re much closer to equality than ever before, women continue to be forgotten and undervalued. This is a huge problem for multiple reasons.

Firstly, we are receiving a tainted version of the past that changes key information. A common example of this would be Rosalind Franklin’s discovery of the double-helix DNA structure being credited to Watson and Crick. Instead of teaching us about Franklin, exam boards focus on the people who stole her work. While this fact is becoming more recognised lately, it is still not on school curriculums. Plus, in standardised tests, she will not be mentioned in any question about her discovery.

And secondly, the presence of women in history is important because children and teenagers often look to historical figures for inspiration. This can shape lives and change how kids see the world and for women there is an extremely limited choice of role models.

When I was a child, I idolised Marie Curie because she was one of the only women I had heard of that invented something. I don’t want to be a scientist, but there weren’t many female achievements that would be known to children. I knew of a few artists, because of my family. I knew some authors, because I liked to read. But most of these women were women I had found outside of school, I hadn’t actually been taught about them.

People try to make science more appealing to young girls. People think that if there is a problem, it’s that women don’t want to do science. People think that because you never hear about female scientists’ discoveries, but this isn’t because women don’t want to be scientists, its because when they are, they might as well be invisible.

Without the internet would you know that without the actress Hedy Lamarr inventing frequency hopping during World War two, we wouldn’t have Wi-Fi, GPS or Bluetooth? Her invention is currently valued at around $30 billion but she didn’t get paid anything for her patent. We never learn about her despite the fact she changed how the world currently runs. Without women we wouldn’t have dishwashers, circular saws, car heaters, lifeboats, windscreen wipers or even home security. And most people don’t know about any of those women.

Women’s work gets credited to men. And when it isn’t, it doesn’t get recognised at all. There are women who have done incredible things, invented things that changed the world, done things that saved thousands of lives. But nobody knows who they are. A study has shown that women in science are 13% less likely than men to receive authorship credit for their work. Additionally, women are 59% less likely to be named on patents, even when they work on the same projects.

During the second world war a woman called Irena Sendler worked in the Warsaw ghetto so that she could sneak children and infants out in burlap sacks. She was able to save over 2500 children before the Nazis caught and severely injured her. She had kept the names of every single child in a jar buried under a tree in her backyard, and after the war she located all the parents that had survived, the other kids being placed in foster homes or getting adopted.

In 2007, Sendler was nominated to win the Nobel Peace Prize but lost to a man named Al Gore who created a slideshow on global warming. Without her risking her life and safety, all those children would have been killed but she still got less recognition than a man’s slideshow.

Women have always been doing things as remarkable as men have, but we only ever learn about the male side of the past. When we learn what women’s roles were, we learn about housewives and mothers and while these are also valued lifestyles, we don’t get the full truth of what women have been doing since.

If we only knew the women we learnt about in school, we’d probably believe they never left the house. That they weren’t as clever, weren’t as brave, weren’t as interesting as men and that isn’t true. Women have always been working as hard as men do and when people say they were working ‘behind the scenes’ it is simply because historians pointed the cameras away from them.

Women deserve to learn about other women. Everyone deserves to see somebody like them that is presented the way men got presented. More female achievements need to appear on the school curriculum. Thank you for listening.

I’m obsessed with the idea of Rainbow Dash accidentally discovering and reading The Ego and Its Own and becoming a Stirnerite:

Rainbow Dash: "Everypony always tells me I have a big ego... sweet!"

A week later

Rainbow Dash, now wearing Stirner’s glasses, calmly trots through the park until Scootaloo runs into her.

Scootaloo: "Hey, Rainbow Dash! I haven’t seen you in a while. How’ve you been? :D"

Rainbow Dash: stares intently "Are you still trapped under the dogmatic spell of your cutie mark? Don’t you feel like the social conditioning tied to it forces you to follow its commands, instead of listening to your true self?"

Scootaloo: "I-i… Dash… WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! D:"

Rainbow Dash: "Ah, you react with confusion. You don’t see how your short life has been controlled by spooks! Ghosts of the mind! Forces born from the decayed corpse of the Church, tricking you with promises of fulfilling your deepest desires, when instead you should become an idol unto yourself! Every time Celestia delivers a decree, it’s only clearer that her greatest conviction is not the boundless freedom of ourselves, but the belief that nopony can manage their own affairs! That if we did, it would tear apart the 'foundation of civilized society!' This so-called foundation is nothing more than the self-loathing of the working masses—the true producers and most capable organizers of Equestria—"

Scootaloo starts backing away slowly.

Rainbow Dash: "-but instead we’re taught to idolize her rule! It’s obvious, Scootaloo! Her power is a-"

Scootaloo runs for her life

Rainbow Dash: waves "Goodbye, Scoot! I just love that little crusader :)"

cinematic credits roll

Note: i need to take this version of the character further.

I speak too fast and this will certainly help me with being less awkward in convos ._.

Do you think you speak too fast/ too slow?

Do You Think You Speak Too Fast/ Too Slow?
Do You Think You Speak Too Fast/ Too Slow?

Here is what I learned from a speech coach.

warm up:

start this exercise by taking a deep breath and saying “aaaaah” - try to extend this to 30 seconds. Now if it doesn’t go till 30, that’s fine. Aim to work your way to that. If you can work it up to 30, go for 45/60 seconds. Do this 5 times.

next. Download an app called Metronome beats. It’s basically what singers/ musicians use for beats.

Settings: keep beats/bar as 1,

clicks/beats as 1

start at 90. It will start with a click sound and continue “beeping.”

Match your words to the beep. One beep = one word. Now slowly, increase the beat by 5 till you reach 110. Increase it at your own pace but try to spend at least 20 seconds on each number (90 for 20 seconds; 95 for 20; 100 for 20….) That’s when you stop.

either start by reading something out loud and matching the beat, or select a topic and speak freely.

do this every single day. This will help with your breath, if you’re speaking on a topic it will help you think better and improve over time. The best way to further complement this exercise is to improve your vocabulary. Try to learn 1-3 new words a day and incorporate it in your vocabulary.

This is a great tool to use when learning new languages too. You can practice your speaking skills and see how fast you can remember/ read words.

I've never had the chance to share this so ig I'll do it here.

So, I have a speech impediment. Yay.

Specifically a stutter and I've suffered bullying centered around my stuttering for years on end. (For some reason it was always by girls. Guys used to think my stutter was cute for some reason it's not btw).

My sutter is the prolongation of words and the block

I.e How areeeee you and I'm fin____

I wanted to share this for anyone else who's living with a stutter. I've noticed a few things.

I actually only stutter on vowels (lovely that every word has a vowel in it huh?)

I pretty much stop breathing when I talk (it's like my brain can only focus on one thing at a time)

Reading does not increase or decrease my stuttering.

I sometimes add extra words or pronounce words differently to avoid stuttering.

My stutter decreases dramatically when speaking to people who don't cut me off.

Now, I'll go through and explain them to help anyone who may have similar issues.

For 1, I noticed around four years ago that I actually only stutter on words that have a vowel sound. I sat down with myself and talked for a bit and found that every word I stuttered on, it was at the vowel sound.

Shockingly, even words that begin with a vowel sound I stutter over, I'll give details on that later.

So, the best way I've learn to handle this is to stop when I know a word has a vowel and I stutter on that word, so I'll say something like:

Everything is all ready done.

Separating them into two words seems to prevent me from stuttering.

2 might also just be my anxiety, but for the sake of this post, let's say it's not. I noticed I'm usually out of breath when I talk. I do talk fast, but I mean like I just ran a marathon out of breath from just saying a simple sentense.

The best way I can describe it is like when you're singing a song. You try and sing the full line as the singer does, but most of us haven't trained our lungs so we end up breathless by the end of it.

I still do this, but it's gotten better as I've learned to breathe from my diaphragm when I talk instead of my chest.

3 I'm really saying for anyone trying to help someone with a stutter. This does not help someone to calm their stutter. As a kid, my parents sat me down and assumed if I read aloud I would learn not to stutter, but it makes no difference.

My advice is to just be patient. That person knows they stutter, let them take their time and they'll eventually get out what they need to say. You're in no rush to hear what they say, so just let tham go at their own pace.

One last thing about this. DO NOT try and finish a sentence for them. It's bad enough we have a stutter, but if someone tries to fill in the sentence for us, our self esteem goes 📉📉.

For 4 (lol) this is a thing I developed and it works pretty well. This is the detail I was going to get into. So, sometimes I stutter over the word it, no Pennywise.

So, to stop that from happening since it is used a lot, I started saying "I T is like." Now, I don't say that in public, but I do with my family and the word is simple enough that no one is thinking too hard on what I spelled out.

But this is why I usually don't refer to things by their proper name (so if anyone here ever becomes my real friend, please know I'm not saying things wrong, I'll just stutter otherwise).

Lastly, 5. I would assume this is the same for everyone regardless if they have a stutter or not. When someone is cutting you off, it makes you rush your words, cut your words off, and stutter. So it gets worse for someone with a stutter.

I have very rarely encountered people who didn't try and cut me off because I paused to take a breath or held out a word. It's true that the anticipation of someone cutting you off sometimes makes you stutter.

I have my stutter under control a lot now, but it did take me a while to get to this point. So, for anyone out there who has a stutter, try and find out what makes your stutter tick and go from there to find ways around it.

This has been a PSA about stuttering, thank you for reading 🍂

Sorry, but last thing, since I'm a writwblr, I wanted to add how to properly write a character with a stutter.

We know t-the (repeating sound) stutter is a real one, but it's normally used for someone who's simply nervous. Someone who actually stutters would stutter at any point in time and sometimes in different ways (eg me having two versions of a stutter).

Also, know where your character's stutter comes from. Mines happens to be hereditary and environmental as I frequently get cut off and thus rush my words to get them out faster. It's also just kind of the way I am since I'm very fast paced and have a hard time "taking things slow"

It's also good to detail a tick or habit your stuttering character may have, like they stop talking and shake their head when pausing their stutter.

Oh, and it's true, cursing eliminates stuttering. There needs to be some testing done on that.
