Artblock - Tumblr Posts
I think every creative has faced them at some point or another. Artblocks. They are actually quite common reaching from "I don't feel creative" to "Why am I even doing this, I absolutely suck at what I do". And this was a feeling I got stuck in for the year and before I noticed it , I lost my artistic voice. I was still able to improve technically but the soul that I ususally have put in my artworks was completely gone. It's like using empty words in order to form a sentence. They say something but the saying has no meaning.
And this is a feeling I tried to capture in this image. Thankfully I overcame that struggle. For me , keeping a sketchbook, practicing mindfulness and talking to other artistic friends was a huge help to overcome it.
For the "Artblock" I imagined it to be a big creepily smiling monster that just feeds on the creativity of an artists mind.
What are your methods to overcome an artblock?

I've actually picked up my #wacomtablet again and a piece I started long ago. I'm struggling a lot with that pesky #artblock and one would think that #inktober would help with that.. but no. i was bored and experiencing the most severe art block i've had in a long while, so did some quick messy sketches of people with tired eyes using the loomis method :'D
BY THE WAY- these are not in any way shape or form meant to "look good".
i always get so caught up in my art looking good, im never able to draw how i feel or want to draw.
this is simply me drawing how my own tiredness and exhaustion feels, which as you can see, is really shit.
(also, just something i've noticed, but these drawings look really weird and bad when you look at them first, but after just staring at them for a little while they look kind of normal and real and raw- i don't hate it)

do what you can. if you make paintings and today you can't, for some reason all you can draw is a small flower in a corner of the wall, look at it the next time you are able to make paintings and feel proud of yourself, look at it the next time you feel unable to paint again and see that you got over it once, you can get reach where you want again. For today, the small flower is enough.
