Here's another creature of mine, the PinPin. The PinPin is a timid animal living in herds that brows the seasonal plains and bushlands of their dry home controlled by a short rainy season and a long dry season. Here's a creature I've kept for so many years! It doesn't have a species name, but this family of dangerous reptiles are called viri [vee-ree]. Two first images are recent from a test to redesign the basic viri design. I still have some work to do to make the physiology to work, but i'm getting there😄 3rd picture is the first time drawing it back in 2011 or 2012, and the 4th pic is the plasticine model that started it. It's been re-worked a couple of times and had some material and design added to it, but it's still the same model. I've been a bit busy with job searching lately, but I finally tried out Sculptris which I've had on my computer forever! Turns out it's pretty nice to work in and it feels a lot more like working with clay than what Mudbox ever did! I'm still figuring it out, but I managed to make a PinPin head on the 2nd try! Breaking in a new sketchbook! I've been writing lately for a worldbuilding project of mine, triggered by the start, and now hiatus of my D'nD campaign happening in this world. The other day I got around to start writing about the worlds griffins, so here's an owl/lynx griffin! This griffin inhabits cold, Northern forests and mountain areas, specialising in ambushing anything from reindeer to hares and voles in the wee hours of dusk and dawn. It is also a supreme master of stealth both by foot and by wing. Harpy design is getting along now. Started painting the tiny full body profiles, and am on 2nd layer of paint for the head profiles. If you look in the bottom left and right corner you can catch some bird tidd- aah inflatable display wattles..

Not sure if image quality is that good? But here's the finished harpy, coloured with watercolours! I'm not working with watercolours that much, but I enjoy it, it's just scary to work with it compared to say digital colouring, as you can fuck up and then that's that drawing gone. Anyone got any tips on straightening the paper out? Just scan it? Laminating it? I know my paper's not really meant for getting wet, so I'd be happy to take tips on what to paint on too 😋 Anyway, here you can see that the modern harpy has taken pre-existing traits from the classic harpy, and made it look more humanoid. It's skin has also gotten less orange, and its head more compact, bringing the facial features closer and making it look more humanoid. In broad daylight it looks like an ugly hag at best.
