Binary Code - Tumblr Posts
man, sometimes i get so bored i write in morse code just to have something to do
sometimes i get so bored, instead of using dots and dashes, i just use binary.

••//•-•/•/•-/•-••/•-••/-•--//-•/•/•/-••//•••/---/--/•/-/••••/••/-•/--•//-/---//-••/---
(Let / be letter separator, // be word separator)
maybe i should morse the morse. instead of doing "•-" for "A", what if I did "-••/---/-//-••/•-/•••/••••" for "dot dash", which is "A"?
meta morse?
can i go further?
Can anyone translate these please?

Thanks in advance

I've seen people talking about the QR code thing, and I just wanna ask:

Can someone try and decode the binary at the bottom?
(it's under the newspaper about the mortician being fired)

oh no, what does it say? what does any of it mean? that’s what you might be thinking. well, I can tell you it’s not worth trying to figure out. the seventh issue of blugg is a mystery…

Today’s prompt for Cringetober is “MS Paint”!
I don’t have MS Paint, but I do have JS Paint to open up on my browser! It was either use it on my iPad or my laptop with a little art tablet someone gave me, and I was convinced doing it on my laptop would make it more authentic
And so I did, recommended to draw my character InterNat! She’s a little sprite who lives in the internet, that delivers information to everybody and anybody! This was so much fun to draw, I’m happy with the results, and I hope you guys also like these results!

I have a knitting machine like that one and a stack of very stiff old punch cards that might be older than me. The punch cards are great for repeating patterns like that pretty basket-weave diamond design (I think I've actually used a copy of that card), but not so great for long non-repeating series like computer code.
I also weave on an 8-shaft loom, which isn't quite as complex as a Jacquard loom with punch cards, but still is basically using a series of binary switches to encode... pretty designs!
One warp/weft intersection is a lot smaller than a knit stitch with sock yarn at 7 st/in. I think with this yarn I've got about 20 threads per inch.
It might be easier to weave Doom than knit it. Let me do some math. On this loom you could only get 8 bits per weft thread, but at 20 threads per inch that's 160 bits per inch (of length, your width wouldn't matter because you'd just be repeating the same 8 bits all the way across)... Hmm. 12,208 feet (2.3 miles) in length, width anywhere from ½" to 18." It's more information-dense than the 7x7 stitches per sq in of knitted sock-weight, but having only the first ½" of width be relevant means it's a lot longer. A ½" by 2.3 mile ribbon is not terribly useful. Technically it's 509 ft² so it'd be smaller than the 3322 ft² knitted blanket but it'd just be a mess.

So the other night during D&D, I had the sudden thoughts that:
1) Binary files are 1s and 0s
2) Knitting has knit stitches and purl stitches
You could represent binary data in knitting, as a pattern of knits and purls…
You can knit Doom.
However, after crunching some more numbers:
The compressed Doom installer binary is 2.93 MB. Assuming you are using sock weight yarn, with 7 stitches per inch, results in knitted doom being…
3322 square feet
Factoring it out…302 people, each knitting a relatively reasonable 11 square feet, could knit Doom.
All people are Non-binary
If you aren't made of 1s and 0s you aren't binary
Sorry to say my friend
This isn't Undertale related but I though this was funny
Pls tell me it is
Only the greatest fanfic for this ship!
Another favorite!
Just saying. If everything that happened in season 4 happened with an adult El, way more people would ship Elenry. I think that says all you need to know about their relationship and how it was portrayed. But I want to be clear that I only support adult El with Henry, and I could see this happening in many ways/scenarios. Time travel, Vecna redemption, El saying yes to Henry with a super slow burn until she's an adult....etc.
I totally agree. I also imagine scenarios in which they're both teenagers because I like young adult stories and find those to be the easiest to write because it's my preferred age range regarding themes, although my six-year age difference story, All I Need, would lean more towards new adult when I decide to work on it again.
If Henry had to be couped up in a house/cabin somewhere (preferably with El as company), what hobbies do you think he would get into to pass the time(sfw)? I don't see him watching TV unless El wants to, but aside from taking care of spiders, I could see him gardening; growing flowers because El likes them/growing veggies so he wouldn't feel as dependent on food deliveries, even from his allies. What do you think?
Reading, too, but yeah, I can go with gardening, especially if it's something El enjoys.
I thought similar things but I don't really discuss El and Henry's dynamic in real life, because, you know...
When I watched them they gave me gothic romance vibes. They're also kinda similar to ships like Reylo and Hannigram (probably someone else made analyses on this). I really think they're also soulmates. They're the only two people who could understand each other, well besides Kali but Kali was able to escape herself before everything went sideways. In an alternative world El and Henry could have ended up together under different circumstances.
YES. We are totally with you. Reylo vibes for real. Soulmate vibes for real. Hence why we love reading and writing fanfictions where the age gap is accounted for, and we can watch them get their happy ending. 🤗
I've always found El and Henry's dynamic so engaging. They are literally the same person but are each others' foils at the same time. I mean it's impossible to not ship them, even if you don't see them from a purely romantic perspective, they still have that special bond that only exists between them. The Duffers also kinda played into that 'dark territory' regarding their dynamic, at least imho. They are paralleled to Beauty and the Beast (the whole rose glass thing is not something you can miss) El was specifically tied to there by Henry. It's also obvious Henry feels/felt a special attachment and bond toward El, he approached her, became her first friend and even intended to escape with her. I mean, there was no reason for him to ask that to her yet he did. Her rejection scared him forever. That's some tragic cruel fate right there, to be denied and rejected by the person you cared the most and saw yourself in? Narratively they are created for each other, their stories cannot exist without the other and from the start they've always been connected. There's so much stuff to say and analyze about them.
Most definitely! Like I noticed the stained glass rose from the start and immediately thought of Beauty and the Beast. I still wonder who made that decision because they had to have known exactly what they were doing. I definitely think El was Henry's last hope and he let the darkness inside himself overtake his entire being when she sent him to the Upside Down. They're soulmates, though, and deserve better than the fate show!canon has given them. It's devastating.
How do you think Henry's character will be written in S5? Some people have been speculating that he might get a 'redemption' right before he dies, and I also think that would be a better ending for his character too. I'd like to see El trying to reach to Henry for the last time and be there for him when he dies? What do you think?
That's such a great question! Based on the direction TFS took Henry's character, it really does seem like they are going for some sort of redemption. Or, at least, a super tragic character arc? I also see it like you do, that El and Henry could come to understand each other and team up against the mind flayer. It could give Henry's arc closure. I def don't see a way for Henry to not die, though, which is very sad, but i understand.
