THEY ARE SO CANON, but also there is that crippling little bit of DOUBT.

I feel this as such a byler song. just imagine it's mike being like "don't come over, I'm crying, I don't want you to see me like this" but then will comes anyway and they watch movies together in mike's basement and he feels better as soon as will is there because he's a fool and it's just really sweet.

I'm probably not the first person to say this, but oh well. Here's what I think about gay st colour theory.

So if el is purple, mike is blue and will is yellow, mileven would just make a slightly bluer purple. Maybe this is like mike taking over el, el being forced to be more like him or not being able to be herself. I'm not saying he does this but if El's storyline is about finding herself and trying to break free from the people that "control"/influence her (Brenner, hopper, mike) then the blue-purple thing could be symbolic of that...? It would also go the other way in saying that mike can't be himself around el too.

But as we all know, with byler they make an entirely new colour. So with mike and will together, they're not stifling one another or anything like that, they make something new and beautiful together.

The “Unstraightening” of Mike Wheeler Throughout Stranger Things

Mike would never have even shown interest in girls if El hasn’t shown up. Think about it. Throughout the series we see all the canonically straight men talk about women or act a certain way about/with women.

Lucas and Dustin are both immediately drawn to Max. Steve goes through two female love interests and is rejected by even more girls. Billy goes on dates and has posters of girls in his room. The show makes it clear when a character is interested in women.

But with Mike, we don’t really see any of this. Sure, he has a female love interest, but shes always just been there to Mike.

I think it has something to do with when Lucas says “You’re just excited there’s a girl who’s not totally grossed out by you!” (or something along those lines) Mike hears this and realizes this is supposed to be an opportunity for him. He’s supposed to be interested in El romantically. Soon after that, we see Mike ask El to the snowball, but the way he asks her is obviously… kinda weird. There is literally a comparison made to El being his sister. And then they kiss… after that strange relation… mind you they’re both twelve and El doesn’t even know what it means to like something/someone yet. (as shown by her encounters with Max in s3)

My main point is, the show makes now effort to show that Mike feels attracted to girls. Other than having him date El, which is obviously an unhealthy relationship that has been pulled apart many times before.

Just think about it. The show could have shown Mike being interested in Max, like his straight friends are, but instead he’s compared to Will. They both couldn’t care less about Max, which is an interesting similarity considering Will is canonically gay. The show could have Mike chase after El, like we see with Steve and Nancy, but instead he mopes around and kind of forgets about her (because of will ‘,:| strange.) The show could have put posters of girls up in Mikes room, like with Billy, but instead Mike has… a buff dragon? and a… one way sign pointing to his closet..?

There’s just no effort -outside of his constantly failing relationship- to show that Mike is straight.

Sorry if this is a bit ramble or has already been said. It just came to my mind randomly and i didn’t want to forget about it!!

Where else have we seen tiger pride???? In the teaser?? (i know i am so incredibly late but shhh) Anyway Rebel Robin is about Robin finding herself (realizing she's queer) so we know that since tiger pride is connected to her, it's probably a tie to being queer. So uh yeah byler endgame trust 🤞🤞🤞

I also want to say that the Duffers don't believe in love at first sight :/ no other couples in Stranger Things have had love at first sight. They've all had time to bond with romantic tension and plans that show progress in their relationships. Many milEevens will say that Lumax is the same. But I really don't agree with that.

Luca and Max have had very interesting heart-to-hearts and they communicate a lot by confiding in each other because they've managed to trust each other. Unlike Miileven where trust is shaky and communication too. Heart-to-hearts are uncomfortable for a reason I don't know.

Jancy started working together in season 1 and we end up kissing in season 2 but Jonathan and Nancy have known each other since they were kids thanks to Will and Mike.

The only memory that comes to Mike during the confession is the day he thought El was a boy in a yellow t-shirt in the middle of the forest and then was disappointed that it wasn't Will. He could have said SO MANY THINGS but he didn't :/

Byler have known each other since kindergarten and they literally don't need words to understand that they care about each other. They are friends first and foremost. The difference between Miileven and Byler is that even if Will is not in mortal danger, Mike will be the first to run after him to get him back. It has always been:

Season 1 Mike searches for Will with all his might and continues even when there is really no hope.

Season 2 Mike stays with Will (literally attached to his hip) speaks to him in a soft voice and confides in him. He literally stays with him day and night for fear of losing him again.

Season 3 Mike rushes out in the pouring rain to find Will and apologize to him for being an asshole.

Season 4 After their argument, Mike will be the first to apologize to Will and thank him for telling him all that for fear of losing him emotionally again. He will also tell him that they are still a team. A couple is a team of two people who trust each other and who have strong bonds to understand each other with a single look.

If we put all this together, it is Mike who shows romantic signs to Will and not the other way around xD.

Whether it's Mike or El, the only time it seems romantic is in season 2, and their super forced kissing sessions in season 3…..

Season 4 has nothing romantic since I could draw a parallel between the reunion scene between Hopper and El and Miileven 💀

Anyway, the Duffers don't believe in love at first sight and Miileven was one. Unlike Byler who is a slow-burning relationship x

“If Byler happens, what will happen to El?”

I’ve seen this question be asked a lot so I’m gonna answer it. I think she’ll be independent. She doesn’t need a romantic partner. She has so many loving friends and family to support her and if her entire arc was just breaking up with Mike in s4 and then their relationship being the entire plot in s5 would be kinda useless.

I’ve also seen a lot of people argue that if El doesn’t need a boyfriend and Mike isn’t good enough for her, then Will can be single too. This would be a good point if you watched the show with your eyes closed. Will NEEDS Mike, and I feel like people don’t understand if there is 4 seasons building up Will’s love for Mike just for it to end with a heterosexual relationship and him being alone would be a terrible ending. The difference between Mileven and Byler is that Mike can actually express his feelings to Will, in a way that they both understand. Their dynamic is SO much more intimate and passionate than Mileven. Byler being endgame would be a much better way to end the show because it would make El, Mike, and Will happy.

El NEEDS that independent strong women arc right now. She had her first kiss before she even knew how to form a sentence. They’ve been together for 2 (maybe 3) years without even knowing how to properly communicate and act in a relationship, and El needs to experience life without the pressure of being in a romantic relationship. I mean seriously, you cannot watch s4 and think that Mileven will be endgame. Every single other canon couple that is likely to be endgame all have something in common, they all understand and are on the same level romantically. However, with Mileven, this is not shown. They don’t understand each other romantically. This wouldn’t necessarily be an issue if they addressed and resolved this in season 4.

If Mileven were made to be seen as a healthy endgame ship, they would’ve put so much more effort and genuine and emotional feeling moments between them. They could’ve had Mike and El have a deep conversation about their problems, after their fight, and be in a private, calm space together. Mike could’ve explained directly to El why he’s been distancing himself romantically, his reaction at the roller-rink, and tell her how much he loves her. El could’ve explained to Mike why she didn’t feel comfortable enough to tell him she was being bullied, and they could’ve had some emotional, passionate kiss or something.

But they didn’t. Why? Because it’s not endgame. Why wouldn’t El and Mike be a main team together in s5? Why wouldn’t Mileven share similarities between other canon ships? Why does Byler have so many more intimate and romantic coded scenes in s4? What’s the point if Mileven is truly endgame?
