Hello! I'm Isa, and I'm here only because I can't keep my ideas to myself lol. Technically this is an experiment to see if I actually know how to speak English, and as you can guess, English is not my first language, so any mistakes are excused here haha.

Please be gentle with me, I'm just a girl in college trying to do something fun 😭😭

Did I mentioned I love music? Yeah, you'll see it everywhere. Look, there is one right here.

I can try writing for other characters of ACOTAR and maybe for Ruhn Danaan, so I'm open for requests, but I won't promise too much

Training W/ Cassian? And Cassian Accidentally Hurts The Reader?

Scars

The training area of the House of the Wind was spacious, equipped with various training dummies, weapons, and mats for sparring. Cassian had offered some weeks ago to train with you to help you build skills and confidence in self-defense. Since the first time he noticed how much of a scared animal you looked every time a male approached you too fast. He was actually the one who alerted his brothers of your uneasiness and told them to be more gentle around you.

You felt deeply thankful for his help, sometimes even sharing with him your past experiences with your almost-husband back in the Autumn Court. He looked mad every time and even offered to kill the male for you, and every time you said that destiny was going to take care of that male. Of course, destiny had a name and was the General of the Night Court but still. The news of your past lover's death hitted you with a strange sensation of relief and safety. Along with a bit of joy qhen you noticed the biggest smile you ever saw on Cassian's face the next day.

Now you stood facing each other, each wearing practice swords and wearing light training armor after finally finishing the endless warm up.

- Alright, let's finally start with some basic swordplay today. Remember, the key is not just strength, but also agility and strategy. Remember every tip, every position and the right way to hold the weapon. A sword is never dangerous enough if not used in the correct way - Cassian said with a grin as you nodded, a determined expression on your face.

You quickly began circling each other, and Cassian threw a few light swings on your way, testing your reflexes. You blocked them with ease, gaining more confidence with each successful parry.

- You're doing great, keep doing this way - Cassian encouraged - Now, try to counter-attack after you block my strikes.

As you continued the practice, you focused intently, feeling a growing sense of accomplishment with each successful move and praise from your trainer. Your past experiences had left you feeling vulnerable all the time, a cloud of fear passing over your head all day, thundering when a male would approach. But with Cassian's guidance, you were slowly reclaiming your sense of power and autonomy.

Cassian was honestly impressed by your progress. You are a quick learner and showed natural talent with each passing day. He could see the determination in your eyes, and it reminded him of himself when he was a child first learning to fight in those old camps. After a few more minutes of practice, Cassian suggested moving on to fast sparring instead of sword fighting, just to call it an end for the day's training.

- This will help you apply what you've learned in a more dynamic setting - He explained quickly.

You set aside the practice swords and began a controlled sparring session, trying to tag each other without using full force. Cassian observed your movements, offering occasional pointers or praises for your efforts. As you sparred, you seemed to become more immersed in the training, the adrenaline pumping through your veins. For a moment, the memories of the past started to fade away, replaced by the thrill of the present moment.

Then, during a moment of distraction, you left your right side open, and Cassian took advantage of the opportunity. He aimed a gentle, playful punch at your head, but it landed a bit harder than he intended, jostling you slightly.

Your hand flew to your head instinctively, and though the punch didn't cause any real pain, it was enough to trigger something buried deep inside you. The memories of past humiliations and the feeling of being powerless came flooding back, overwhelming you.

Suddenly, you dropped the attack position and clutched your head settling down on the ground as your breath began to quicken when the panic set in. Cassian immediately stopped, concern etched on his face. Your name dropped out his mouth but you couldn't listen, even if your body stayed there, your mind was very far away.

A flood of emotions engulfed you, and your mind became a battleground of memories you had long tried to suppress. The punch had inadvertently brought back vivid recollections of the time you spent in the Autumn Court, where you were born and raised. It was a place filled with cruelty, disrespect, and humiliation towards a good part of their females. In that moment of vulnerability, the echoes of past insults and belittling comments resurfaced. You remembered being disrespected and devalued, your worth reduced to nothing more than an object of amusement for others. The memories of invasive male attention, the objectification, and the constant feeling of powerlessness were overwhelming.

You felt trapped in a sea of emotions, unable to escape the suffocating weight of your past. You were paralyzed by the fear that you could still be the helpless, broken person you once was. In those moments, you felt the walls around your heart closing in, as if you were back in that dark place you fought so hard to escape. The emotions were raw, and you struggled to differentiate between the past and the present.

Amidst the chaos within, Cassian's voice reached your ears, gentle and reassuring. He was kneeling beside you, his concerned eyes offering you a way out of that nightmare.

- Hey, hey, it's okay - He said, the same way he's been repeating all the time, his voice soothing - I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you. Take deep breaths, you're safe here. I'm sorry - His words were like a guiding light, slowly pulling you back from the abyss.

You took shuddering breaths, trying to focus on the reality of the training area, on Cassian's presence, and on the fact that you were still safe in the House of the Wind. His words were soothing, but it took a few moments for you to regain control of your emotions. You looked up at him, tears forming in your eyes.

- I'm so sorry - You said while trying to dry the tears you didn't even feel them going down your face. Ashamed with the way you reacted you bent down your head, looking at the training floor.

- You have nothing to apologize for - Cassian said, his voice tender - I never should have thrown that punch, even playfully. I should have been more careful. I'm really sorry if i hurted you.

Even if you knew intellectually that it wasn't his fault, you couldn't help but feel guilty for your own reaction. You were frustrated with yourself for being so affected by the past, for letting it creep into the present and ruin such a good moment you were living. As you calmed down, wiping away the tears, you managed a faint reassuring smile.

- No, it's not your fault, it didn't hurt at all. It just brought back some bad memories from the past - You took a few more deep breaths, trying to steady yourself.

- I should have been more sensitive, then. I'm really sorry for triggering those memories - Cassian's expression softened with understanding.

As he sees you're recovering from the panic attack, he feels a wave of relief wash over him. He hates that he caused you pain, even if it was unintentional. He sits beside you, his concern etched on his face.

- I'm so sorry, I would never hurt you deliberately - he says earnestly when you finally look at him, your eyes still slightly teary but filled with understanding.

- I know you didn't mean to hurt me - You replied, managing a small smile - And thank you for calming me down and being there for me. It means a lot.

- You don't need to thank me. I care about you deeply, and I hate to see you in pain. You're such a strong and remarkable person, and I can't help but admire you for who you are - He takes your hand gently on his own, feeling its coldness he quickly wraps his other hand to heat it.

- Why would you say such things? - Your cheeks blush a soft pink as you look away, trying to process his words - I'm just a regular person, Cassian. Nyx's babysitter after all. Nothing special.

- No, you are so much more than that - Cassian shakes his head, determination in his eyes - You have a heart of gold, and your courage and resilience are truly inspiring. I see the way you handle Nyx, and it's clear how much he adores you - His eyes were so full of love that you couldn't think of a way to react - And, on top of all that, you are stunningly beautiful - You were taken aback by his compliments, not used to receiving such genuine praise.

- I-I don't know what to say - You stammer, feeling both flattered and embarrassed - But thank you for being here and helping me through it. You're really kind, Cassian.

- Of course, I'll always be here for you - He placed a comforting hand on your shoulder, still holding you with his other one - And I meant what I said earlier. You're strong, brave, and incredibly talented. Don't let those bad memories hold you back. You deserve to live your life to the fullest - Though you appreciated his words, you still struggled with the lingering vulnerability and self-doubt.

- I'll try my best. And I do want to keep training if you were wondering - You joke and start to get up helping him too as you both face each other again.

- I'm glad to hear that. We'll take it at your pace, and I promise to be more mindful from now on - Cassian smiled warmly, but his smile quickly dropped as he stopped to think, concern making itself noticeable on his expression.

- What happened? Is something wrong? - You asked, genuine care carrying your voice.

- Nothing, I just… - He takes a step closer to you, his height towering over your figure. He made a move to higher up his hand, waiting for your reaction. Noticing his move you inched your face closer, giving permission for him to touch you and speak his mind - Look, I don't want to put pressure on you, and I certainly didn't plan to say this now, but I can't keep it inside anymore. I love you, not just because of what you've been through, but for who you are. I wanted to tell you earlier, but I was afraid of triggering painful memories on you if I went too step forward - You pause for a moment, taking in his confession. Then, a genuine smile graces your lips.

- You really mean that? - You ask excitedly, joy filling every part of your heart now.

- Every word - Cassian replies, his voice steady and certain. Your smile widens, and you feel more at ease than you have in weeks.

- Well then, I have to say that I care about you too, Cassian. Your strength, your humor and your kindness, they all make you an incredible person - He can hardly believe his ears, and a radiant smile spreads across his face.

- So, you forgive me for my blunder earlier? - Cassian asked with a funny expression on his face, finally holding you with both hands, securing your body against his. A reminder that, if you fell, he would always be there to catch you.

- I do, but only if you agree to go on a date with me - You chuckle, giving his hand a playful squeeze. Cassian grins, his heart soaring with happiness.

- Anytime you want, sweetheart. It's a deal. I promise to be on my best behavior - As you felt a tingly sensation on your neck you know he really meant it, a promise marking your skin for as long as he decides to stay with you.

You both share a laugh, and as you decide to leave the training area together, Cassian can't help but feel grateful for Nyx's presence in their lives, for it brought him closer to someone he now knew he couldn't bear to lose. And in that moment, both of you realized that even in the darkest of times, love and understanding can find their way to heal the deepest wounds and create something beautiful from the ashes of the past.

As you walk together to your rooms, ready to take a shower and continue the day, you sort of feel a newfound sense of hope. While the memories from your past may not disappear overnight, you knew she could face them with Cassian by your side. Together, you would rewrite your story, creating a future that was stronger and brighter than your painful past.

You realized that you weren't alone anymore, that Cassian genuinely cared for your well-being. He had become more than just a training partner or the cute uncle from the kid you babysit; he was a friend and a support system you didn't know you needed. And maybe, in a closer future, even more than you ever thought you could have.

Faking Dating With Cassian? Happy Ending Too Please :(

Burn For You

Cassian strolled through the opulent ballroom of the Court of Nightmares, where the air was thick with intrigue and danger with yet another party Rhysand was throwing for his subjects. He took a sip of his drink, keeping an eye out for any potential threats to the peace of the Night Court. As he glanced around, his attention was drawn to a commotion nearby.

In a dimly lit corner, he noticed a young female struggling to distance herself from the clutches of an aggressive suitor. Her hair cascaded around her shoulders, and her determined expression caught Cassian's attention. Without a second thought, he decided to intervene. He marched over with purpose, acting on instinct to protect someone in need.

-Is everything alright here? - He asked, sliding smoothly into the role of the female's savior. Well, your savior. You looked surprised by his sudden appearance, having heard of whispers and tales about the scary General of the Night Court, and right now, in the low light with the most threatening expression you ever saw someone using, you believed every word you heard. Your eyes quickly darted between Cassian and the persistent suitor.

-Yes, thank you - You replied, voice strained as you tried to maintain your composure.

-Great - Cassian replied with a charming smile, looping an arm around your waist and drawing you closer to him, exchanging looks with the other male - My apologies for being away for so long, love - He said, trying to sell the act convincingly. Your eyes widened in disbelief, and you tried to pull away from him.

-Wait, what are you doing? - You whispered, voice filled with alarm.

-It's called "pretending," my lady, - Cassian whispered back, equally alarmed by the situation but determined to see it through.

-I'm sorry, I thought you were alone - The male replied quickly, fear shaking in his voice - If you excuse me - Once he left you finally pulled away from the General, looking around you noticed the dozens of eyes observing your interaction.

-Why would you do that? - The question flew out of your mouth the second you saw everyone changing their gazes to somewhere else.

-Not even a "thank you"? - He jokes, but your face tells him it's not time for it - I saw you were in distress, and it's a trick that works well in Velaris, those inconvenients fear this bunch of muscles when they see me - He funnily flexes his muscles but your face doesn't show anything but distress.

-What works well in your Velaris or whatever doesn't work the same way here - You hissed, cheeks flushed with embarrassment - This is the Court of Nightmares, and claiming to be someone's partner is a serious matter. He didn't fear you, he feared your possession over me - Cassian's expression faltered for a moment as the gravity of his mistake hit him. He had been too caught up in the idea of helping someone in need, and he hadn't considered the ramifications of his actions in the dangerous Court you were in.

-I'm sorry - He began sincerely - I didn't know. I saw you in trouble, and I thought I could help - Realizing his error, he quickly guided you away from the party and into a quieter alcove.

-You need to understand that here if a male claims to be a female's partner, it's equivalent to a proposal. And once that happens, it can't be undone easily - Your anger was evident in your voice tone, but you took a deep breath, trying to steady your emotions.

-I had no idea. I didn't mean to put you in such a difficult situation - Cassian's eyes widened in surprise and concern.

-It's not your fault - You replied, your voice softening slightly - But you must be cautious in the Court of Nightmares. My father has been trying to marry me off to secure alliances, and if he hears about this, things could get even more complicated.

-I'll do whatever I can to help you get out of this situation - Cassian assured you, feeling a weight of responsibility on his shoulders - I was just trying to help.

-Thank you. But for now, we should keep our distance and pretend this never happened, maybe hoping that whoever saw or heard us won't tell my father. It's for both our sakes - You studied him for a moment, and despite your initial anger, a glimmer of gratitude shone in your eyes. Maybe he wasn't as bad as people talked.

-Whatever you think is best, I'll let you take the lead. Just know that if you ever need help, I'll be here.

With an uneasy truce settled between you, you both returned to the party at different times, every pair of eyes burdened in your back with the possible knowledge of the tangled web you now found yourself in. Cassian couldn't shake the feeling that the encounter in the Court of Nightmares would have far-reaching consequences, and he silently vowed to protect you from any harm that might come.

Little did both of you know that your paths were now irrevocably intertwined. It didn't take a full week until Cassian found himself on the receiving end of a rather urgent call from Rhysand. With a sense of trepidation, he answered the summons and flew to the High Lord's study in the Town House. Rhysand was seated behind his ornate desk, a mix of concern and exasperation in his piercing violet eyes.

-Cassian - He began, his voice measured - Care to explain why there's a very excited, rich male in my living room, asking for my permission to talk to his daughter's fiancĂŠ - Cassian sighed, running a hand through his hair.

-It's a long story, Rhys, but you know how I tried to help that girl at the last party? Turns out, claiming to be her boyfriend in the Court of Nightmares is a serious matter - Rhysand raised an eyebrow, not believing what his ears were listening

-I thought it might be something like that. Go on - Cassian recounted the events from that night and the subsequent secret conversation with you, explaining how you unintentionally became entangled in a fake dating due to his misguided attempt to help you.

-And, apparently, I was drunk enough to forget every single lesson you made me and Azriel take about the Court of Nightmares and the things we weren't supposed to do - Rhysand listened attentively, nodding thoughtfully as the pieces fell into place - And I did.

-I understand, Cassian, and I appreciate that you were trying to do the right thing. However, this situation is delicate. Her father holds considerable influence, and his support is crucial for the stability of the Night Court. We can't risk alienating him - Cassian clenched his jaw, realizing the gravity of the situation.

-I know, Rhys, but I don't want to hurt the poor girl either. She's caught in the middle of all this, and I can't just walk away from her, leave her to deal with the consequences of my mistake - He talked exasperated, head filled with thoughts - If I break up this non-existent relationship she will be forever ruined in the Hewn City. They will destroy her reputation - Rhysand sighed, his eyes softening with understanding.

-I don't want you to walk away either, Cassian. But for the time being, I think we need to maintain the appearance of this fake relationship. At least until we figure out a more delicate way to extricate ourselves from this mess - Cassian frowned, feeling the weight of his loyalty to the Night Court

-So, you want me to continue pretending to be in a relationship with her? Won't that be leading her on? - Rhysand leaned back in his chair, his expression serious.

-It's a risk we have to take, talk with her and sort things out for now. But we'll find a solution. We always do. Just be mindful of your actions and words. We can't afford any missteps again - Cassian nodded, accepting the responsibility.

-I understand, Rhys. I'll do my best to handle this. But we need to find a way to free her from this situation eventually - Rhysand placed a reassuring hand on Cassian's shoulder.

-We will, Cassian. For now, keep up with the appearances, and I'll see what I can do to get through this political minefield - With a newfound sense of purpose, Cassian left Rhysand's study, determined to protect you and find a way out of this mess.

Weeks passed, and the tension between Cassian and your family only grew. Your father remained in absolute bliss, while Rhysand worked tirelessly to find a way to mend the situation without compromising the Night Court's alliances. One evening, Cassian found himself pacing restlessly in his quarters, his mind racing with worry and uncertainty. He knew he had unintentionally entangled you in a mess you never asked for, and he couldn't bear to see you suffer the consequences.

Finally, unable to contain his emotions any longer, Cassian made his way to your house. He knocked softly, and when the door opened, he found you looking surprised by his visit, weeks going by without any news that didn't come from your father.

-Cassian? Is everything alright? - you asked, concern evident in your eyes. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he was about to propose.

-No, everything's not alright. This situation is tearing my mind apart, and I don't know what to do about it - You gestured for him to come in, and you sat down facing each other.

-I know. But we can't just run away from it. Everyone knows or thinks you are going to propose anytime soon. They are already whimpering about you breaking off the relationship or whatever - Cassian nodded, his heart heavy with guilt and anger for those who commented these types of things about you.

-I know, and I will take responsibility for my mistakes. But I can't let you suffer for them anymore. There's a way we can protect your reputation and undo this mess - You looked at him with curiosity.

-How? - He hesitated for a moment before blurting out.

-Marry me. In name only, like a fake relationship until Rhysand figures out how to untangle us from this situation. We can tell our families that we're together, but in reality, we won't have to be. It's the best way to protect you from any harm or comment that might come your way - Your eyes widened, feeling taken aback by his desperate suggestion.

-Cassian, I don't know if that's the right thing to do. Marrying for appearances, it's not fair to you, or me.

-I know it's not fair - He admitted, his voice raw with emotion - But it's the only way I can think of to keep you safe, to give Rhysand the time he needs to do the political things he has to do or whatever. That's why I'm the general, not the counselor - You chuckle at him, feeling better by seeing him so engaged in the idea of helping you.

-What if this becomes even more complicated? What if we break up and everyone starts saying that I am ruined? - Cassian's gaze softened, and he took your hand in his.

-If that happens, we'll deal with it together. Rhys can punish them, or Azriel, or even me. I'll fight for your reputation, dearest lady, don't you worry - You laugh even harder, easing your emotions - But for now, it's the only plan I can come up with to protect you and your family.

-Okay, Cassian, the General. I'll do it. I'll pretend to be in a relationship with you for the sake of my own life. But promise me one thing - You said, lifting one finger in front of him.

-Anything - He replied, his heart racing.

-Promise me that you'll be honest with me, that you won't let this fake relationship consume us. Even if it's fake I want to be your friend - His smile could make him even prettier, his whole lighting up as he took your hand and kissed it.

-I promise, future wife. We'll do this together, and I won't let anything bad happen to us - You felt a tingling sensation burning down in your back, between your shoulders. As you were preparing to ask what happened, you heard a scream that certainly made its way toward the whole mountain.

-He proposed! Mother he proposed! - Your sister started to scream around the house, having heard only the last part of the conversation - Sister is going to marry the big General!

It didn't take long for the news to reach the Moonlight Palace and consequently the High Lord's Inner Circle. The ones who happened to be your fake husband's family. And the ones who were sitting with you at the dinner table.

In a grand, candle-lit dining hall within the Night Court, Cassian and you found yourselves surrounded by the Inner Circle and your own family. The atmosphere was charged with a mix of curiosity, excitement, and apprehension, as everyone gathered to discuss the unexpected turn of events.

On one side were your parents, your father being an imposing male with a commanding presence, and your mother, elegant and astute, sat close to the High Lord at a long table, flanked by your siblings and yourself. The Inner Circle occupied the seats on the other side, with Rhysand at the head of the table, as the High Lord.

Cassian's heart raced, knowing that this dinner was definitely his fault. Just as the whole situation. Beside him, you clasped his hand, offering silent support. Rhysand, with his customary charm, raised his glass.

-To new alliances and unforeseen connections - He proposed, his eyes twinkling with meaning. Cassian told you that Rhysand knew about the truth, him being the one that gave the idea of it. The clinking of glasses echoed through the hall as they all toasted to the unexpected turn of events.

-Cassian, I must admit I was surprised by your interest in my daughter. Your reputation as a fierce warrior precedes you in this Court - Your father spoke, his voice resonating with authority. Cassian nodded, trying to keep his composure under the scrutinizing gaze.

-Yes, my lord. I value honor, loyalty, and protecting those I care for. I see those same qualities in your daughter - He squeezed your hand harder, trying to keep his emotions at bay.

-Our daughter has spoken highly of you as well, Cassian. She admires your bravery and kindness - Your mother chimed in with a smile, you may or may have not spent a whole day talking about him to your mom. To keep everything trustful, you thought to yourself.

-So, you're going to be my brother now, huh? - Your younger sister teased, causing laughter to ripple through the room.

-This is a significant proposal, and I will need to consider it carefully. My daughter's happiness and our family's alliance are paramount - Amidst the light-hearted banter, the mood turned serious as your father leaned forward, noticing your intertwined hands.

Cassian understood the weight of his words. He had to tread carefully, knowing that one wrong move could endanger everything you had.

-Father, I ask for your trust in this matter. Cassian and I care for each other deeply. Our bond may have started as a secret, but it has grown into something bigger than ourselves - You spoke up, trying to keep your voice steady as the lies flew from your mouth.

-You know how important this alliance is for our family - He replies carefully, looking at each member of the Inner Circle, his future family - But I can see that your feelings for Cassian are genuine.

-Perhaps we can explore this further, and take some time to get to know Cassian and his intentions. After all, we don't want to rush into any decisions - Your mother interjected, offering a reassuring smile to you and your "husband". Cassian appreciated the gesture of openness. He knew that this meeting could have taken a different, more hostile turn since the insults of him being a lowborn Illyrian bastard could easily bring shame towards your family.

-That sounds like a reasonable approach. We don't want to rush anyone into something they're not ready for. Let's give us time to plan the whole wedding, no need for speed - Rhysand spoke again, regaining control of the situation. Cassian nodded, grateful for Rhysand's support.

-Of course. I want nothing more than to ensure your daughter's happiness and earn the trust of her family.

Throughout the evening, the conversation flowed, a delicate balance of diplomacy and heartfelt emotions. Cassian and you shared a good amount of lies about your time together, shedding light on the "genuine" connection you held.

With nothing much more than that, the dinner concluded, and the families bid their farewells. You and Cassian stepped outside, finding a moment of quiet away from the gathering.

-I think it went well - You whispered, fearing anyone would hear.

-It did. Your family seems open to the possibility. Let's give them time to get to know me better - Cassian squeezed your hand gently, both of you looking like the newly engaged love birds everyone thought you were.

-I believe they will come around. Let's be patient and trust in our acting skills, it might work in the end.

As the days turned into weeks, you and Cassian found yourselves spending an extraordinary amount of time together, planning and deciding the details of the fake marriage. What started as a game to choose your favorite things had become a heated and long discussion that neither of you had anticipated.

In the beginning, your conversations were guarded, and the interactions tinged with formality. But as the weeks went by, you discovered that you genuinely enjoyed each other's company. Laughter and lighthearted banter started to fill the air whenever you both were together.

One evening, you found yourselves in a luxurious library within the Moonlight Palace, going through various wedding arrangements and traditions.

-Do we really need a dozen flower girls? - You quickly quipped, a mischievous glint passing through your eyes.

-I don't think we need that many, but it would be a sight to see - Cassian chuckled, the sound warm and contagious. As he passed through the pages of a book on wedding cakes, you started to laugh once he stopped in one image.

-Why do they all have to be towering masterpieces? Can't we have a cake that doesn't threaten to fall over? - He tried to imagine the cake in real life, only to fall in laughter too.

-I agree. Maybe a cake we can actually eat without fearing for our lives is better - Cassian grinned, feeling a newfound ease in your presence.

Your laughter echoed through the library, and in that moment, the line between pretending and reality blurred for a while, you found joy in each other's quirks and preferences, discovering that your tastes often aligned.

Weeks quickly turned into months, and your interactions grew more comfortable. You often confided in each other about your hopes and dreams, fears and uncertainties. You shared secrets with him under dresses and tailors deciding things around you in all playful moments during the day.

Yet, you couldn't dare to speak of the emotions that were blossoming within your heart. The unspoken love that grew stronger with each passing day remained a tender secret you guarded. One night, as you sat with him on a balcony overlooking the starry night, you finally broke the tension that formed with the silence that not so often hung between you.

-Cassian - You called off for him, your voice soft but hesitant - This fake marriage has become so much more than we anticipated, hasn't it? - He turned to you, his eyes reflecting the constellations above.

-Yes, it has - He replied, his voice tinged with emotion - I never expected to feel so comfortable around you, Starlight. It feels almost weird every time I get home and remember that we were supposed to be pretending - He looked deep into your eyes, trying to pass all the emotion he held - I'm not pretending - You looked down in shyness, fingers tracing patterns on your red dress. His red.

-I'm not either - You admitted before looking back at him - I find myself looking forward to our time together, to the laughter we share, and the moments we spent just talking - Cassian reached for your hand, intertwining your fingers.

-Me too, I've never met someone like you, someone who challenges me so much in my decisions and makes me want to learn things all the time. You make me feel alive - He whispered the last sentence, fearing it was a dream.

-I don't know where this will lead us, but I want to find out - You smiled at him, leaning your head to his shoulder, slowly letting yourself feel the calming aura that usually hit you as you breathed in his scent. The last thing you felt was his wing wrapping around you as you drifted to sleep.

It didn't take much longer until Rhysand called Cassian to his private study, the room dimly lit by the soft glow of starlight streaming through the open window.

-I think I finally have a plan to break up the marriage - Rhysand said, his eyes gleaming with determination.

-What is it? - Cassian nodded, eager to hear the solution his friend had come up with.

-We'll stage a political scandal that will give her family a way out of the marriage without losing face. We put the blame on us, make sure everyone knows we are the problem, and done, problem solved - Rhysand explained - It's a delicate move and it needs a lot of planning, but I believe it will work - Cassian listened attentively, but a nagging uncertainty weighed on his heart.

-It's a good plan, Rhys, but...

-But what? - Rhysand asked, sensing Cassian's hesitation.

-I've spent so much time with her during this fake relationship, and I can't shake the feeling that it's become more than just a pretense - Cassian took a deep breath, struggling to put his thoughts into words - I care about her deeply, and I don't want to leave her.

-Cassian, do you know what this means? - Rhysand regarded him with understanding, a knowing glint in his eyes.

-What? - Cassian furrowed his brow.

-It means you're in love with her - Rhysand took a step closer, his voice gentle yet firm.

-I don't know. It's complicated. We started this as a lie, and I don't want to confuse her or myself - Cassian's heart skipped a beat, and he looked away, unable to meet Rhysand's gaze.

-Love is never straightforward, brother. Sometimes, it comes unexpectedly, in the most unlikely circumstances. But it's real, and you can't deny what you feel - Rhys placed a hand on Cassian's shoulder, his voice steady, very much the High Lord he was.

-I'm scared, Rhys. Scared of losing her, scared of making another mistake - Cassian swallowed hard, the truth in his brother's words resonating within him.

-Fear is a part of love, but it shouldn't hold you back. You need to talk to her, be honest about how you feel. It's the only way to find out if she feels the same - Rhysand smiled reassuringly - Maybe it'll make all the money I already spent in planning this whole thing worth it.

-You're right. I need to talk to her - Cassian nodded, a mix of hope and trepidation swirling in his chest, not even noticing the joke. Rhysand only clapped him on the back, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

-Good. Now, go find her and tell her everything. And when you do, make sure to propose properly. None of this stupid weird fake proposal nonsense - He said with a smirk.

-Thank you, Rhys. I don't know what I'd do without you - Cassian chuckled, feeling a sense of clarity settling over him.

-That's what family is for. Now, go. Time is flying.

With renewed determination, Cassian left the study, his heart alight with the prospect of finally being honest about his feelings. He flew all the way to the Hewn City, its guards already used to him getting in and out of the mountain without the High Lord. He sought you out, ready to lay his heart bare and find out if his love was meant to be.

Under the twinkling fae lights that illuminated the Moonlight Palace - your official residence now, as a future member of the Inner Circle. Cassian found you standing on one of the palace balconies, your gaze fixed on the projected stars above. He took a deep breath, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement swirling within him.

-Starlight? - His voice startled you, the nickname making you blush slightly - We need to talk.

-Of course, Cass. What is it? - You turned to face him, your eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. He stepped closer to you, taking your hands in his, he looked into your eyes, searching for the right words

- I've spent these past months with you, pretending that our relationship was a farce. But the truth is, it stopped feeling like a pretense a long time ago - Your breath slipped a little, and your heart raced as you waited for him to continue - Rhysand found a way to break the marriage but I don't think we should. I don't want to. I care about you deeply, my star. I didn't plan on falling in love with you, but I did, and I can't deny it any longer.

-Cassian, I... I feel the same way - You whispered and saw when relief washed over him, and he cupped your cheek gently.

-You do? - Hope was evident in his voice, happiness washing over him completely.

-Yes - You replied, your voice barely above a whisper - I didn't know how to tell you, how to deal with these feelings. I never expected this, but I've fallen in love with you too.

-Then let's stop pretending - He said, his heart soaring with joy as he approached you - Let's make this real.

-Let's make this real - You looked up at him, eyes shining with love and happiness as you let yourself laugh when he got down on one knee. He pulled out a small velvet box from his pocket and opened it, revealing a delicate ring with a glistening red gemstone. A piece of his siphon, you realized.

-My love, my starlight, will you do me the honor of being my wife? Truthfully, this time He asked, his voice filled with love and sincerity. Tears of happiness welled up in your eyes as you nodded, heart overflowing with love.

-Yes, Cassian. I will - With a tender smile, he slipped the ring onto your finger, sealing your love with a promise that went beyond any pretense or arrangement - Truthfully this time - You whispered when he got up, getting closer to your face with a smile that could illuminate the whole mountain.

And then, with the glistening stars as your witness, Cassian leaned in and finally kissed you. His lips travel into yours with a promise of love and happiness in your life together.

As he broke apart, he stayed a bit distant from you, seeming to be analyzing your whole face before kissing you one more time.

-I love you, Starlight - Cassian whispered against your lips, eyes looking all over your face - I can't believe I'm that lucky.

-And I love you, Bat Boy - You replied, the nickname making him laugh before he threw you around his shoulder and took you inside the room you both would soon share.

Maybe things in the Court of Nightmares did work the same way as in Velaris. Love is anywhere people could find it.

single mom with Cassian?

I can totally imagine myself trying to run away from him because he's handsomely intimidating

Someone made the request, and then I scrolled down through Cassian Appreciation Week and BOOM idea

"6. Day Six: Lord of Bloodshed X Cassian is one of the most powerful Illyrians in history. How do you think he earns - and continues to earn - his unofficial title?"

Answering now: he has his fandom, every famous person has one, it wouldn't be different for him

Idk if the time is over for this prompt, but in my time zone there's still one hour left so

Kiss The Girl

As a single mom, you had always been supportive of your daughter's interests, even when it came to her fascination with the General of the Night Court. Despite the warnings from her classmates and teachers at school, she was determined to prove that he was awesome and cool. Since the first time her grandmother (your mom) told her about the day the General saved her life during the attack against Velaris, your daughter has been obsessed with him.

From wearing something red in every outfit (her dress, her lipstick, her shoes, her ribbon, her socks, or anything like that) to reading every single book of history she could find in the public library that told some tale about her. And then she would tell you over and over again during dinner.

She was his biggest fan (or smallest, if we are talking about height), how couldn't she be? He was the greatest warrior in all of Prythian, the best General in the history of the Night Court, the best Illyrian male, the Lord of Bloodshed, the Prince of Bastards. Oh my, and wasn't he the strongest and bravest soldier in history?

Your daughter kept rambling about it over and over again as you walked through Velaris, buying food and some other supplies for the dresses you had to make during the week. Eloise loved this type of walk since she was always excited with the possibility of finding the General somewhere. As you chose some strawberries and raspberries for a future cake she suddenly started to shake your hand and jump up and down.

-Mom! Can I walk alone? I saw something I like - She started tugging the hand you held her, quite stronger than usual if you could say.

-Let me just pay for the fruits and we can go together, love - You drop her hand to grab money, counting the coins you had.

-No, mom! It needs to be now! Pretty please? - She sounded almost desperate, making you laugh a bit, but one look at her pleading eyes you could only smile and nod, dreading the power she held over you.

-Alright you can go, but be careful, sweetie - To your surprise, instead of walking to a store close to where you were she started to scream with joy and run though the streets, leaving you behind in one of the fruit tents - Eloise, wait! - You called after her, your heart already pounding with worry.

She bolted towards an aleatory spot while you tried to see where exactly she was going to follow her after you finish you payment, since you don't want to steal everything in your bag (although from the laugh the tent owner was holding you don't think he would care that much if you ran behind her too). What you didn't see was the glimpse she got of Cassian walking down the street, two siphons around his hands shining bright red, just as her dress.

The General was just a few streets away trying to look for the art supplies Feyre told him to get when he spotted a little red thing running towards him. It took him some seconds to identify the red running thing as a mini fae and he immediately crouched down, trying not to look intimidating when he confirmed that she was indeed going toward his direction. But your daughter was the most fearless child you ever met. She went straight up to him and wrapped her tiny arms around one of his arms, her tiny frame not even rounding one big muscled arm.

-Well, hello there, little one. Is everything alright with you? - He said as he smiled wide and tapped her back.

-Yes! I just wanted to say that you're the best, General Cassian! I love everything about you! - She jumped up and down on his arms as small tears started to form in her eyes.

-Oh, do you now? That's very kind of you to say - He quickly dried the droplets that threatened to get out of her eyes, the bag with requests from Feyre long forgotten on the ground.

-No, really! I want to be just like you when I grow up. Can you teach me to fight and be a general too? - She let go of his arm to look at him from the front view, but never let go of him, fearing he might disappear.

-What's your name, small thing? - He played with some strands of her hair, making her even more excited with the situation.

-I'm Eloise, sir - She said confidently, straighten up the posture and all.

-Well, little one, being a general takes a lot of hard work and hundreds of years of pure training. But I'm honored that you look up to me. Maybe one day we can talk about it - Eloise's eyes sparkled with admiration, and she continued to pour her heart out to him, sharing all the reasons why she thought he was incredible. Cassian listened attentively, his heart melting at her genuine affection.

-You are my favorite person in the whole wide world, Cassian! I mean… after my mommy and my granny, but then you are my favorite - She said convincingly, making the General throw his head back in laughter, adoring the attention.

-Thank you so much, Eloise. This makes me happier than you can imagine. I'm glad to know I have such a brave and wonderful fan like you - She squealed in happiness as she threw her arms around his neck, hugging him as tight as she could ‐ I believe you're not here alone, right?

-Of course not! Mommy is here with me… somewhere - She said sheepishly, almost if she just remembered about her mother.

-Hold on tight, little warrior - Cassian said before lifting her up with one of his arms, letting her rest on his waist - Let's go find your mom, shall we? Can't have her worrying about you.

Meanwhile, you finally caught up to them, slightly out of breath from the chase after running around the blocks searching for your daughter. You were both relieved and a bit mad, but it all disappeared in amusement after seeing Eloise fearlessly chatting with Cassian. And oh my, wasn't he as amazing as your daughter mentioned.

-Eloise, there you are! I was worried about you. Don't ever run away from me like that again - You said as you tried to make sense of your surroundings and not keep looking at the General like a crazy person.

-Mommy, look, it's General Cassian! Isn't he amazing? - She said pointing at him, he turned at you with such a big and radiant and beautiful smile that almost made you weak on your knees. Almost.

-Yes, he is, sweetie - His smile got even bigger if that was possible, he seemed to enjoy the attention, and you kind of felt inclined to give it to him every day of your life.

-You have an incredible daughter. She made my day with the amount of praises, it's hard for me to get those.

-Really? How so? You're so amazing and look so good that… - You seem to catch your train of thought as you laugh nervously, almost making a fool of yourself - I mean, that's what Eloise always says, so… I would imagine that is a routine for you to be… praised? - You smile as best as you can and take your daughter back, trying your best to not touch any part of that very well toned and built muscles - Anyway, thank you for taking her. She really adores you.

-I think I adore her too. She's quite… remarkable - Cassian's eyes met yours, and there was an instant connection. He seemed to look at you as if the rest of the world didn't matter, in a way that your late husband never looked at you.

Cassian couldn't help but search for an engagement ring on your hand, but as he found none he felt a mixture of relief wash over him that almost made him feel sorry for himself. Meanwhile, you couldn't help but notice how tall, big, and undeniably handsome he was, which definitely made you feel a little intimidated. Feeling ridiculously overwhelmed by his attractiveness, you decided to take your daughter away, practically running from him.

-Come on, sweetie, let's get going! - You said quickly as none of you seemed inclined to look away from each other - Thank you very much for talking with her. It was nice to meet you.

-Nice to meet you, General Cassian - Your daughter practically screamed as you took her away, scared that he might scent the interest you took on him.

-It was nice to meet you too, little warrior - Cassian, however, was determined to win you over, just as he had already conquered your daughter's heart.

Days went by and you couldn't get Cassian out of your mind. You even started to pay a lot of attention to your daughter's tales about him, making her more excited to tell you over and over again. You worked quietly every day in your sewing shop thinking every single detail Eloise told you about the General while you made the dresses to sell, it didn't took you long to realize good part of your drawings and works were coming out red, you let out a laugh when you noticed the amount of red dresses you had around.

Your late husband wasn't exactly the love of your life, you could say. He was a nice gentleman that took responsibility for your daughter once you found out that you were pregnant after one good night with him. There wasn't desire between you two, there was love, but more like friendly love. And when he died in the war against Hybern you mourned him like a friend. It was always you, your mother and your daughter, there was no space for love or anything else. And you were still young, once Eloise would grow up you could find a love for you to settle for and finally relax. So it was hard to understand whatever you were feeling for the General, why your thoughts went to him all the time even if you barely talked to him that day.

As you continued to work in your studio, you were completely surprised when Cassian suddenly appeared in the store. His tall form almost touched the ceiling as he looked around as if searching for something. Or someone.

-Hello there. May I help you? - You blushed slightly at his presence, feeling uncertain yet intrigued by his sudden approach.

-Your daughter told me you had this store and I wanted to check it out by myself - He said it as if he wasn't certain of any of his words, smiling nervously at you.

-She really told you? Why? - He took time to think, you could almost see the parts of his brain trying to come up with an answer until he sighs and gives up.

-Okay, I lied, she didn't tell me about the store. I don't even know why I tried to lie. I think I'm nervous, sorry - He started to rumble a lot and you tried to make sense of his talk, at the same time as you tried to calm down your heart at the mere sight of him - Hm… I asked Azriel- do you know Azriel? Spymaster and stuff? Yeah, I asked him to find you for me and we found out you worked as a seamstress, which made the opportunity to talk to you fall like a glove since Feyre- you know, the High Lady? She's looking for someone to make some dresses for Nyx's birthday and I thought "uh, I can ask you if you can do it and then I can talk to you like I've been wanting to since the day we met" and here I am.

-Wait, wait, wait. Calm down - Your mind was turning over and over as you processed the whole situation - Yes, I can make a dress, but… you were searching for me?

-Yeah, I actually promised a good amount of food and wine to Az for him to find you.

-Why? - The question left your mouth as if you were asking yourself, not him.

-Hm… so, about that. You daughter, Eloise, right? - You only nodded your head, still confused about everything - So, she mentioned she wanted to train. And I can do it, you know? I have a lot of experiences with kids, they love me.

-You have a lot of experience training kids?

-Yes! It's more like the basic, only self defense and basic knowledge on punches and kicks. I am in charge of training Nyx, actually - He said convincingly, trying his best to keep the smile on his face.

-You are in charge of training a barely two years old kid?

-Yes… when he grow up - You couldn't help but laugh at him, his face seemed to chill once you smiled at him - I must admit, your daughter's energy and spirit impressed me. I believe I could help her practice her skills, if you'd allow me, obviously.

While you felt drawn to his charisma, you couldn't shake off the feeling of intimidation caused by his undeniable attractiveness. People simply shouldn't be allowed to look so good. However, the thought of your daughter spending time with someone she admired excited you, and you kind of wanted her to get to know him better.

-Well, I suppose... Maybe we could have dinner together someday, my mom needs to know you too, since you will be taking her granddaughter to kick and punch. That way, Eloise can decide if she wants to train with you - Cassian's face lit up with delight, clearly pleased with the invitation.

-That sounds wonderful! I promise I'll behave, and we'll have a lovely evening. If Eloise agrees we can discuss what exactly I can do.

-And the dress for the High Lady? - He looked at me like he completely forgot about that, the nervous smile coming back to his face.

-She will come by to talk about that - And so, you set a time for dinner at your home.

You were never the best cook in your family, far from that. But you had your skills to be proud of. Your nervousness made you spend hours preparing a delicious meal while your mother laughed at you for feeling like that for a male, a mix of anticipation and fear rising in you as the evening approached. When Cassian arrived, he was the epitome of charm and warmth, making your daughter feel excited right away and your mom turning to you and raising a thumbs up.

-Wow, you're even cooler when you wear normal clothes! Can you really teach me how to fight? Mommy said you wanted to - She pointed at you, who was still helping to set up the table.

-Of course, little warrior. I'll teach you everything you need to know - He even had the audacity to blink at you! Your cheeks burned as if fire was rising inside of you.

Throughout the night, Cassian regaled your small family with tales of his adventures before becoming the General, the ones that weren't written in the books, and your daughter hung onto every word, captivated by his bravery and humor. As the time went on, your initial uncertainties began to fade, replaced by the genuine connection and shared laughter as he made all of you feel at ease.

In the following weeks, Cassian kept his promise and started training your daughter in combat and self defense. It turned out he actually didn't have much experience with kids, but his genuine passion for teaching and caring nature won your daughter's heart even more. As time passed, you found yourself not only appreciating the mentorship he provided to Eloise but also enjoying his company more and more.

He grew closer as a family, helping your mother with her garden by bringing new seeds from every Court and asking tips for Elain or always taking your daughter to eat some sweets after training and always making sure to give her some red gift (her obsession with the color never fading), or even stopping by your store to leave something to eat or taking and fetching Eloise at school so you or your mother wouldn't have to stop working. And easy like that your feelings of intimidation were replaced by a deep admiration for the kind, caring, and honorable male Cassian truly was.

In the end, it was clear that Cassian wasn't just a charming and handsome general; he was also a genuinely good person who cared deeply for the ones he loved. The once-feared general of the Night Court had found a special place in your heart. Not that Cassian's compliments about your looks or scent always helped you ease your growing feelings for him, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to deny the attraction you felt.

One day, as your daughter caught her breath on the ground after a particularly intense training session, Cassian turned to you with that all-too-familiar mischievous grin he wears everytime you stay longer to watch their sparring.

-You know, I can't help but notice how your eyes sparkle when you're watching. It's rather enchanting - Your face flushed deep, not knowing how to react once his tall form reached the bench you were sitting on, you quickly rose from your position to look at him from a better view - I always try to know if it is because of Eloise improvement or if it's just you really happy to see me - Before you could respond, your daughter chimed in, playfully teasing the both of you.

-Come on, kiss the girl already so I can call you my dad! - She said breathlessly but with a smile that reached both sides of her face.

You and Cassian exchanged surprised glances, both of you slightly caught off guard by her remark. However, her words seemed to break the tension that always formed when he flirted, and you decide to take a leap of faith. You leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss on Cassian's cheek, despite feeling like your face was on fire from blushing. He looked at you even more surprised as a smile started to play on his lips.

-Well, I don't know about calling you dad just yet, but I can't deny my daughter's wishes, you know? - Cassian's eyes sparkled with delight, and he chuckled warmly.

-I couldn't agree more. How about we have that dinner we talked about last week? Just the two of us? - He pulled you closer by the waist, your hands resting on his chest.

-Yes, I'd like that - With that, he leaned in, and this time, he gave you a soft, lingering kiss, your daughter's squeals making you smile during the kiss, feeling as happy as she was.

As the days turned into weeks, your relationship grew stronger, both of you falling into an easy routine. Your daughter's admiration for Cassian only deepened as she saw how much he cared for her family, and in time, she called him "dad" without hesitation.

In the end, this unexpected journey brought love, happiness, and a newfound sense of belonging to your heart. And it all started with your daughter's innocent fascination with the once-feared Lord of Bloodshed, also known as your husband (and Eloise's favorite daddy).

This is so cute and endearing. Thank for feeding my love for cassian.

Prescription cuddles

Cassian x reader

Summary: Cassian is sick and his mate takes care of him

Warnings: none

A/n: it’s 4 am but I had the brilliant idea to drink coffee at 12 am so this is the product of my stupidity. I hope you enjoy :)

——————————————————————-

Cassian on a regular day was affectionate, wanting to be near you as much as possible with random kisses placed here and there: your shoulder, collarbone, cheek, nose, forehead, jaw, literally any place he could reach. And you loved that. You loved that you had a sensitive and affectionate mate who wasn’t afraid of showing his emotions. You loved that at any time of day when you wanted comfort or human contact, your mate was there to provide it.

Sick Cassian, however, was on a whole other level. Affectionate like normal Cassian, only ten times as clingy. You barely got to get up from bed while he was sick and you had to admit, you loved every second of it.

Currently, the 6’7 Illyrian lay in your shared bed, cuddled up in blankets with his head in your lap and coughing like his life depended on it. You stroked his hair in gentle motion, attempting to soothe the headache he no doubt had due to the coughing, the clogged sinuses, and staying up all night due to the coughing and clogged sinuses.

Cassian groaned, attempting to take a breath through his nose and failing. “I hate being sick,” he said in a congested voice.

You couldn’t help but chuckle a little.

“I’m glad my misery is making you laugh,” he glared up at you.

“I’m not laughing at your misery!” You objected. “Okay, maybe I am,” you smiled. “But you’re just so adorable when you’re whiny and clingy like that. I can’t help it.”

Groaning, Cassian turned on his side, face buried in your stomach. You continued stroking his hair, burying your hand in it, and targeting all the spots on his scalp that made him putty in your hands.

He hummed in contentment, finally getting relief from the headache that had been ruining his morning. That was until another coughing fit took over.

Cassian sat up, hand cupping his mouth as he coughed violently. You grimaced, reaching out to rub his back. Cassian slumped back into you once he was done, back against the headboard and head resting on your shoulder.

“Would you like some soup, my love?” You asked, kissing his warm temple.

Furrowing your brows, you brought up the back of your hand to his forehead. The fever was back. You made a mental note to fetch some medicine along with the soup.

“Yes please,” he sniffled.

Turning on his side again to get comfortable, Cassian's arm went around your waist, pinning you to the bed.

“I need to get up to bring you soup, you know?” You laughed.

“But I wanna cuddle,” Cassian pouted.

“Soup is more important right now, Cassie. It’ll help you get better.” You attempted to pry his arm off but even sick, Cassian was stronger.

“Cuddling my mate will also help me get better,” he objected.

"Really? Says who?" you asked with a teasing smile.

"Madja," Cassian said. "Yes, she said it is imperative for a male to get cuddles from his mate when he's sick otherwise he may never get better! Do you want me to never get better, Y/n?" Cassian gave you his puppy eye look that makes you melt in a second.

You laughed endearingly at your mate's antics before sighing. “I’ll be back in a couple of minutes. Then we can cuddle as much as you want,” you smiled at him.

“Promise?” Cassian asked.

“Yes,” you playfully rolled your eyes. Cassian beamed, releasing his hold on you, and sprung you to your feet to get your mate some soup and some much-needed medicine.

Putting some chicken noodle soup on the stove to quickly heat up, you searched the cabinets for the medicines. After getting all you needed, you poured the steaming into a bowl and hurried back.

Cassian was sitting up, glaring at you as you entered the room.

“You said it would take a couple of minutes. You’ve been gone for 15!” He huffed.

You couldn’t help but laugh at his silly objections and how adorable he looked with the pout. You set the bowl of soup and medicine on the side table and leaned on the bed to kiss Cassian’s cheek.

“I’m sorry, angel,” you kissed his cheek again.

“You’re forgiven,” he grinned, immediately pulling you to him.

Once you were settled in with Cassian’s arms around your waist and head on your chest, you picked up the bowl of steaming soup and started feeding it to your mate.

Cassian hummed at the soothing burn from the soup and he drank the rest of it in no time. Afterward, you gave him his medicine and rubbed his back while waiting for the effect of the medicines to take over.

“Thank you for taking care of me,” Cassian mumbled against your chest sleepily, kissing your shoulder in gratitude.

You kissed his crown in response.

Early morning shenanigans

Cassian x reader

Summary: you and Cassian in the morning

Warnings: my attempt at tooth rotting fluff?

———————————————————————

Maybe it was the love shooting down to you through the bond or the feeling of someone looking at you, but you slowly opened your eyes to the sun leaking through the window and directly in your face. You groaned at the sunlight, squinting in an effort to block it out, and turned away from the window. You were met with the hard chest of the general of the Night Court, whose stare you could still feel on your face. Peering up at him, you found Cassian staring at you with a lovesick smile on his face as he brought his wing up to shield you from the sun. You hummed in comfort at the shade, sending your gratitude down the bond and closing your eyes once again.

“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” Cassian greeted.

“How long have you been staring at me?” you asked in a husky morning voice. Your eyes remained closed but you knew Cassian was grinning at you.

“Since I woke up,” he replied, leaning in closer to kiss your forehead.

Your brows furrowed with a smile of amusement tugging at your lips. “Which was when?” you inquired, now opening your eyes to peer up at him.

Cassian hummed in thought. “Don’t remember,” he shrugged. “I was too lost in thought looking at my beautiful mate.”

You blushed, playfully rolling your eyes and pushing Cassian away from you. “You’re so cheesy.” He only laughed in response.

You rolled onto your back, stretching and rubbing the sleep out of your eyes.

“What time is it?” you asked.

A mischievous smile took over Cassian’s face and you gave him a look that said ‘Don’t do what you’re about to do.’

Cassian wrapped a muscled arm around your waist, pulling you close until there was no space between the two of you. You yelped, handing flying up his chest, and you looked annoyed at him.

“It’s time for kisses!” Cassian announced before leaning in to attack your face.

You shrieked loudly, laughing at the ticklish sensation caused by his lips. Just as Cassian was about to kiss your lips, you put a hand over his mouth. Cassian huffed in annoyance, giving you a questioning look.

“Not until I’ve brushed my teeth,” you declared and removed your hand.

“But baby, I don’t care if you have morning breath,” Cassian whined.

“I do,” you retaliated and moved to remove the covers off you so you could get out of bed.

Cassian put a firm arm over your waist, stopping your movements. You looked up at him sheepishly and he gave you a devilish smirk. “Where do you think you’re going, princess?”

“To the bathroom,” you replied simply, an innocent smile on your lips.

“Oh no, you aren’t. Not until I get my morning kisses,” he announced and moved to kiss you again, this time holding your arms firmly so you couldn’t stop him. You turned your face away at the last second, laughing, making the general whine, which made you laugh harder.

“Y/n, stop laughing,” Cassian protested and you finally turned to face him with a bright smile that made his eyes light up. The look he gave you made the playful grin shrink to a flustered smile, and Cassian smirked at the effect he had on you.

You wiggled your arms free from his grip to reach up and cup his beautiful face in your hands. You lifted your head off the pillow to kiss Cassian’s nose which made his face scrunch up adorably, making you giggle.

Cassian kissed your forehead in return, then both of your cheeks, then your nose. Finally, he bent down to peck your lips but you freed yourself from under him before he could, quickly running into the bathroom while laughing devilishly.

“Hey, no fair!” Cassian huffed in protest.

A few minutes later, you came out of the bathroom, your hair in a beat bun, face washed and teeth brushed. Cassian was sitting on the bed, arms crossed with an adorable pout on his face that made you crack up and wanna kiss him all over simultaneously.

When you approached the bed, Cassian pointedly turned away from you, huffing loudly. You had to hold in your laugh from escaping.

You sat on your knees behind Cassian, mindful of his wings, and wrapped your arms around his neck, leaning to kiss his cheek.

When Cassian turned his head away from you, you gently stroked his wing and he shuddered, leaning slightly back into you. You kissed his temple this time, hand traveling to the other side of his face to caress his cheek.

The general hummed, turning his face towards you and capturing your lips in a sweet kiss. You reciprocated, hands running over his shoulders and into his hair, as he turned his whole body towards you, arms winding around your waist and pulling you onto his lap.

“Good morning, general,” you smiled and nudged your nose against his.

“Good morning,” he replied, stealing a few more kisses before you had to get out of bed.

Cassian X Fem Reader

Cassian landed on his balcony in the house of wind with a thud, he barely had enough energy to fly to his room. He knew he wouldn’t be able to provide the joy or give his friends the attention they deserved. His body felt weighed down by bricks, each step toward his bed more difficult than the last. He didn’t bother taking off his leathers as he collapsed to his bed.

The general’s thoughts were swarming in rapid speed, and he knew that it would prevent him from sleeping. Guilt slammed into him as though he a wall collapsed on him. Closing his eyes he tried to focus on his breathing as the correlating panic began to build. Cassian bit his lip trying to keep it from wobbling as tears began to pool behind his eyelids. The heavy feeling in his chest not easing, his usual breathing techniques failing him.

The Lord of Bloodshed knew his friends were struggling and relied on him for guidance, a punching bag, a comforting hug. Yet here he was battling an internal war that he was losing. A battle no one close to him knew he was fighting and have been since the war.

Yet guilt was consuming him and he let out a pained whimper. As though his wings were once again shredded.

Cassian was barely able to conjure enough energy to illuminate his siphons let alone be there when his family needed him.

Bustard.

Brute.

Pathetic.

These feelings would pass, they always did, but first he would rest his eyes and try to not let the weight of world crush him. Try not to let the guilt of letting his family down, of letting you down consume him. And it was the look of disappointment on your features that flashed into his mind before the darkness consumed him whole and his body gave in.

Cassian X Fem Reader

You finished off doing your stretches with Azriel in the training ring looking at the entryway from the house. You were bursting with excitement, as you had just got home from a long mission and missed the routine that came with training, but you had simply missed Cassian. His smile, his warm embrace, the way his hair would tickle your nose when held you tightly in his arms, His presence alone calmed you down on days when your anxiety would spike. A pinky wrapped around your own, a hand on your shoulder, or a wing tucking you closer toward the Illyrian warrior, his touch became one you were dependent on and growing to yearn for.

An hour went by, you refused to move an inch not wanting to start without Cassian, not wanting to miss an opportunity to show him you’d been practicing while you were away. Not wanting to miss the look of pride on his face when he learned you finally mastered the maneuver that had been taking you months to.

Another hour went by.

And another.

It was at the fourth hour that Azriel kissed the crown of your head, “I have to go.” He whispered, but his words fell on deaf ears as you remained planted in the center of the sparring ring; your eyes never leaving the door hoping red illumination would brighten the dark, cold corridor.   “Sweetheart, he is in his room. Go” You turned to see a shadow swirling near his ear, Azriel’s eyes holding a slight worry in them. He splayed a palm on your back and lightly pushed you, urging you to go inside.

You wrapped your arms around the shadowsinger before he could began pushing you to the doorway, “Safe travels, Az.”  You pulled away and bolted into the enchanted house that you, Azriel and Cassian called home. The hall became a blur of blacks and grays until you reached the familiar door of the General’s room. You lightly knocked, “Cassian,” you called out slightly out of breath by your endeavor silence met you after you called out to him. You knocked once more, “Hey, I missed you at training this morning.” You had missed him, his smile, his warm hazel eyes, his beautiful silky hair. Being away from him for so long left an ache in your chest. “Cassie?”

Worry etched your eyebrow; you opened the door just enough to peek inside. Cassian’s back was facing you, wings tucked in. His curtains were drawn tightly ensuring no sun came into his room. His shoulders were rising and falling in slow steady beats, all indication that he was asleep. “I’ll check in on you later then, sleepy boy,” you whispered. Shutting the door you began walking away, concern weighing down on you with every step away from the Lord of Bloodshed’s door. Approaching the stairs you paused, looking back at the shut door. Your heart aching for the male on lying on the other side.

Cassian X Fem Reader

Cassian listened for the door to latch before he allowed the tears to cascade down his cheeks. Guilt overrides his senses and for a brief moment he wasn’t thinking about those heavy burdens he shouldered. His only thought was that in the haze of his grief and self-loathing he failed the one person he cared for most:

You.

The General knew you were coming home, and he had tried to swallow the heaviness of his feelings for you, but his bones felt as though they were weighted down. The guilt of missing your training had caused him to groan in pain and suddenly he wasn’t reaching to get out of his bed. No, his mind took him to the last time he crawled to you.

Cassian had heard your scream from the sky, only to find you clutching your side as you collapsed to the floor, not before you sunk your blade into the chest of your attacker, the strike hitting true to the target. Distracted by your injury, Cassian had left himself open for an attack and several ash arrows pierce the leather of his wings. The male howled in pain as he tumbled to the ground as Hybern’s armies pushed the line.

Colliding with the solid ground he heard the snapping of his bone, and he winced in pain. Blinking away the blood from his eyes, he lifted his head, and his blood ran cold. You were curled in a fetal position, your leathers torn and sweat coated hair struck to the side of your face, not noticing the Hybern soldier preparing his sword behind you. With a lift of his hand he summoned his power, what little he had left to spare and blast the soldier away from you. You were quick to cover your ears with a whimper escaping your lips.

The General began to crawl with his one functioning arm, gritting his teeth as he did so. The strain on his body, sweat and blood swirling together and dripping along side his face. The battle around him since forgotten he had one goal in mind and that was reach you.

“Sweetheart,” Cassian called out as he reaches out his hand, “Come to me.”

“It hurts Cassian, my whole body feels like it’s on fire. Make it stop. Please. Make it stop.”

Cassian placed a pillow over his face as the sounds of your pleas rang in his head:

Please

Please

Please

Cassian let out a sob, and another one until his cries drowned out the strained voice of your own from all those years ago. Before he could stop them, his mind began to spiral into all his failings.

Azriel; never getting the protection he deserved as a child.

Rhysand sacrificing fifty years of his life in order to keep him and Velaris safe.

Feyre being forced to return to the spring.

Nesta and Elain being made.

Azriel’s wings getting shredded.

You getting injured on the battlefield.

The pained expression of yours when he left that night after Nesta on solstice, as you held out a gift out with his name on it.

Cassian hated himself for making you feel like you were less than. What you didn’t know was that when you ran out to get his gift Nesta had made a cruel comment about your character right as she collected her money for rent and made her way to her seedy apartment. Cassian’s anger and protectiveness of you won out from his rationality to let the eldest Archeron walk away. The cost was seeing the hurt on your face that you tried so desperately to hide from him had broken something in him. You suddenly became quiet; you were biting your lip so that it wouldn’t betray your real emotions.

Not being able to handle another moment of your behavior; the Lord of Bloodshed had scooped you in his arms and pressed your face into his shoulder. In mere minutes, he felt your shoulders shake and the sound that followed had been branded on Cassian’s soul. The blood curdling cry finally releasing the months of pent-up emotions from the war and everything that predated it was released. The rest of the Inner Circle were quick to leave the duo to their privacy as Cassian soothingly rubbed your back, whispering sweet words to calm you down.

The two of you had never talked about that night but by the next day you were bantering with him as though nothing happened, but he could see the distance in your eyes. As a result, he pushed you harder in training until you had let out all the fears and doubts that had crept into your mind after years of keeping quiet about it.

Cassian had felt guilty and still did about not being able to see how you were hurting and withdrawing from the others. He had failed you in so many ways. He couldn’t even pull a recent memory of when you smiled at him last and in its place the pained expression on the battlefield urged Cassian out of bed to try to find you. The General’s limbs still weighed him down and he only managed a few steps before his legs failed him and he collapsed to his knees. He didn’t have the energy to cry out in pain. Instead, he collapsed onto the cool carpet and resigned to lay there until the weight of his chest lifted or caused his heart to stop beating all together.

He simply wasn’t aware that there was a shimmering gold connection blown opened wide, and his emotions were flooding to the one person he didn’t want to see like this.

You.

Cassian X Fem Reader

You sat in the dining hall and pushed around your food once again keeping your eyes glued to the door where the hall was illuminated by dimmed fae lights. You waited for Cassian to come join you for dinner figuring he would be awake by then. You pressed your lips in a tight line opting to drop your fork on your plate and smooth out the skirt of the new red gown you had bought. The gown was the finest silk with a corset bodice that had mesh revealing your bare skin. You wanted to look nice for the occasion of finally being able to See Cassian.

He never appeared; you had waited until the candles had burned down to nubs before you rose. “Bring me a plate, please.” You called out and the house provided a plate of all of Cassian’s favorites along with a goblet of wine. “Thank you.” Straightening your spine you rose from your seat; grabbing the plate and the wine and set off toward Cassian’s room.

Something was wrong. You felt it in the tightness in your chest as you grew near his room.  You were halfway down the hall when you felt it.

Anguish.

Self-Loathing.

Guilt.

You gritted your teeth to ground yourself from the waves of emotion bombarding you but it’s what came after that caused you to drop the plate and goblet in your hands, not caring that the contents have splashed up onto your skirts. The feeling causing tears to prickle in the back of your eyes.

Numbness

“Cassian!” You screamed, as you bolted toward his room. You reached his room, not caring that you slammed his door almost pulling it from its hinges. The sight before you elicited a sob to escape your throat. “Cassian.” You whimper.

The male you admired more than anything in this world was lying on the ground; his eyes puffy and glossed over his cheeks, having fresh tears streaming down. You slowly approach the male, and with a furrowed brow and tears falling of your own, you lay on the floor beside him. His arm instinctively gripped your waist. Your tender fingers find his face, and his dulled hazel eyes look into yours. “Cassie, what’s going on?”

“I’m Fine.” His voice was hoarse as if he spent most of the day crying.

“You’re not.” You countered.

“I will be.”

Your thumb stroked the stray tears from his face, and you shake your head. “No, Baby.” You sighed, pressing your forehead against his, and he gripped your waist tighter. “What happened?”

Cassian could feel the emotions stirring again and as if his darkness called to you, you responded with light and the feelings of love, and being cared for flooded him combating the dark feelings he was close to fully submitting to. “It’s too much. I feel like I’m drowning.” He whispered, his thumb stroking your waist and feeling the mesh material, solidifying you were here.

You had come for him.

You pulled your head away from his and rose to your feet. “On your feet, General.” Cassian sits up as you hold out your hand for him to take. His calloused fingers wrap around yours and you help pull him up to his feet quickly placing his arm over your shoulder your arm slid around his waist. Cassian took in your scent of berries and a hint of vanilla, and the weight lifted slightly from his chest.

“I can take care of myself.” Cassian grumbles as he hears the house start the water for a bath for him.

“I know you can.” Your tone soft, tears were still running down your face. “Your hurting, and its clear you need someone to take care of you.” You looked up at him and your thumb rubs lazy circles on the top of his hand. “Cassian, you always take such great care of me.” You gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “Allow me to take care of you. Please.”

Cassian took a moment to study your face, sadness was there but not an ounce of pity in your features. You looked determined to help whether he agreed or not. “Okay.”

You grinned at him and sharply took a breath, relieved that that he could do so without the dark wall crushing his lungs. You were the light that he needed; your touch mended wounds not visible to the naked eye but have been festering inside Cassian for centuries. And then you led him to the bathroom and helped him remove his leathers. Cassian simply knew one thing.

You were his salvation.

Cassian X Fem Reader

The warmth of the bath loosened the tense muscles of the Illyrian warrior. He hummed as the warm water caressed his wings. Cassian’s eyes slid to where you were gathering supplies, noticing the new dress you were wearing and how it hugged your figure beautifully. His eyes drifted down, and guilt bubbled up as he saw the stains on the bottom. “Where did the stains on your dress came from?” Cassian cleared his throat as it was still dry, and you moved closer with a glass of water in your hands and various soaps.

“Don’t worry about it.” You muttered kneeling down beside him and reaching toward him gently placing the glass to his lips and he greedily took large swigs, the cold water easing the soreness of his throat. You smiled at him as you placed the glass down.

Reaching for some soap Cassian gripped your wrist, “Did you ruin your new dress because of me?” Your eyes widened, his voice wavered, you had never seen this side of Cassian before.

You sighed. Standing up you begin to undo the corset. Cassian tilted his head in confusion until you let the bodice fall and the skirts pulled at your feet and Cassian couldn’t help but stare at your ethereal form. You picked up your dress and walked out of the room. Moments go by before Cassian hears the roar of the fire crackling and you have returned with one of his shirts on your body. “There. Nothing to worry about now.” You smiled as you took your spot kneeling beside him.

“Sweetheart-

“Hush, Cassian.” He shut his mouth, “You will always be more important to me than a silly dress.” You gently tilt his head back and wet his hair. He watched you work as you lathered the shampoo in your hands and began massaging his scalp. He groaned and you smiled as you could feel the weight of what he’s been holding onto begins to melt away. Feeling brave you asked, “Do these episodes happen often?” You rinse out his hair meeting his eyes.

“They have been more frequent as of late. This was the first time; I couldn’t manage it.” Cassian murmured. As you warmed the soap you would use to wash his body. He continued as you began to rub the rag down his back, “It started small, things I could handle, a fleeting insecurity here. An insult that lingered over there. Lately though.” He sighed. As you began to delicately wash his wings, something you had done countless times before. “It feels like the thoughts build and stack on each other until one day the comes in a colossal wave and I get swept up in the current.”

You paused and angled yourself so you could meet his eyes. “Cassian, does this happen when everyone is coming to you for their problems?” Cassian averted your gaze but your delicate hand against his chin had him looking back at you. “Be honest.”

The General nodded his head. He watched as You schooled your features into one of neutrality, but Cassian knew better.

You were blaming yourself.

“Stop it.” He quipped.

“Stop what?” You throw back as you finish washing his body.

“Stop blaming yourself.”

“I’m not.”

“You are.” You handed him a towel as you crossed your arms. Wrapping the towel around his waist he approached you and you had to crane your neck to look at him. “Sweetheart, I’m okay.”

“You’re not.” You whispered, “Cassian, I Felt what you were feeling. It felt as though someone was ripping my heart out.” You gripped his hand on your own and placed a gentle kiss to his knuckles. “I’m sorry I should have seen the signs. I failed you.”

Cassian’s eyes widened at her words. “You almost died under my command.” He whispered. Your head whipped up at his confession.

“No, baby.” You shook your head, “What happened at Hybern was my mistake, but something tells me that no matter how hard I try to convince you. You won’t be convinced. We can talk about it. Tomorrow. Tonight is simply about taking care of you.” You led him into the bedroom and Cassian squeezed your hand looking for comfort.

And his lips tilt upward when he felt a light squeeze in return.

Cassian X Fem Reader

Cassian was in heaven. He had you straddling his lap watching the flames erupt as you brushed his long dark hair. His calloused hands skimmed your thighs his thumb tracing circles idly on your bare skin. Placing your hands on his shoulders you smiled, “Can I braid your hair?”

Cassian rolled his eyes, “No.”

His honey glazed eyes slowly returning from the dull pits they were, stared at you as you pouted. Rolling his eyes for a second time, “Fine.” Your face brightening caused him to smile, and you paused as you slid off his lap. “What?”

“You smiled for the first time today?” You whispered, “I was worried I was getting annoying.”

“Rhys is annoying. Mor is annoying. Your company, my dear,” He took a steadying breath grabbing your hand. “Brings me out of the darkest corners of my mind.” He began kissing the inside of your palm, “My light.” He kissed your thumb, and you could barely get air in your passageways, “My star.” He kept kissing fingers until his eyes locked on yours. “My mate.” He kissed your pulse point on your wrist. Before releasing you, fighting every urge to kiss you. “How long did you know?”

“The war.” You shift on your feet. “I should have told you-

Cassian gripped your waist, and you sat back on his lap, the idea of braiding his hair long gone. His mouth seals over yours for a gentle chaste kiss. “I knew too.” The words warm the gold bond that is shining brighter since you arrived. “This wasn’t how I wanted to have this conversation.”

You ran your fingers through his hair. “Cass, I don’t want to have this conversation tonight. We have to talk about other things.”

He tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “I know, Let’s talk about it tomorrow. All of it.” He cups your cheek, and you lean into his palm. “Right now, I would like to sleep.”

Your eyes locked onto his. “Tomorrow?” You question.

He gives a curt nod. “Tomorrow.”

You smile, “Let’s go to bed.”

Cassian X Fem Reader

Cassian held you in his arms as you slept nuzzled against his bare chest. His wings provide you with extra warmth. He smiled as the female of his dreams was his, and with her near, the loud dark voices faded away as new ones took its place.

Loved.

Worthy.

Brave.

Mated.

A loving friend.

A kind soul.

Words you had used to describe him before you fell asleep and in tandem with you sending love down the bond Cassian believed he could be those things. That he was worth asking for help as much as he was willing to provide it. He kissed the top of your head, and you tucked your head deeper in his chest. “I love you, sweetheart.”

You didn’t stir or mumble anything in return, but he could feel your love through the bond and his eyes watered at the overwhelming joy.

He was worthy of having a mate.

Worthy of having someone to go on adventures with.

Worthy to have someone pull him from the depths of his despair as he had done countless times for others.

Worthy of Laughing.

Worthy of joy.

Worthy of you.

Being Mated to Cassian

Cassian x reader

Being Mated To Cassian

summary: a bunch of scenarios of what its like to be mated to Cassian

warnings: none!

~●○°●○°●○~

I feel like Cassian’s the kind of guy you’d have a best-friend's relationship with. Let me explain. Starting in the morning:

You glanced at the clock then at your mate still snoring soundly in bed and sighed. You and Cassian were supposed to be at the Townhouse in thirty minutes yet this male was still asleep. Rolling your eyes, you marched up to the bed. Cassian looked so peaceful laying on his side, face partially buried in the pillow, and hair swept over his face. What you were feeling at the moment looking at him might even be mistaken for adoration. You picked up a pillow and slammed it on Cassian’s face.   “Ow!” Cassian screamed, sitting upright in bed. “What was that for?” he asked.  “Get up! It's 12. We need to be at the Townhouse by 12:30!” you said and walked towards the closet to get ready.  Cassian groaned loudly, plopping back into bed. “5 more minutes,” he mumbled. Just as he was about to slip back into that peaceful slumber, you grabbed his shoulder to turn him onto his back and captured his lips into a kiss. Now he’s definitely awake.  You pulled away for a second and said, “Good morning,” then kissed him again.  “What are you doing? I haven’t even brushed my teeth yet,” he said.  You smiled. “I don’t care,” and kissed him one last time before pulling him up and out of bed.

When Cassian gets injured and you’re tending to his wounds:

He’s sitting in a chair while you’re perched on his lap, inspecting the gash on his wing near his shoulder that he got during training with Azriel. Your concerned frown already tells him that you’re upset he wasn’t more careful.  “Y/n, I’m fine,” he says but he’s quieted by one look from you. You pick up the antiseptic-soaked cotton and gently dab it onto the wound. Cassian hisses from the burning, eliciting a mumbled apology from you. You hold his face gently with one hand, thumb stroking back and forth on his cheek in a comforting gesture. He looks up at you with utter adoration, completely enamoured by your gentle and loving yet strict nature.  Finally, when you’re done, you look into Cassian’s eyes and find some of the anger dissipating.  You smile, gently holding his face between and kissing his forehead. Cassian leans into you, closing his eyes in comfort. You loop your arms around his neck and hug him. Your cheek rests on his forehead, and you sway side to side slowly.  “You gotta be more careful, Cassie,” you mutter and kiss his head again.  He looks up at you, kissing your lips in reassurance. “I’m okay, really. It's not that big of a deal.”  “I know,” you mumble. “But I don’t wanna wait for the day it is a big deal.”  Cassian’s heart stutters for a second. Finally, he smiles and says, “I’ll be more careful next time. Promise.”

Going shopping with Cassian

“How's this?” he walks out of the fitting room wearing a tunic.  “No,” you shake your head immediately.  “Why? What's wrong with it?” he asked, looking down at himself to see if he was not wearing it right.  “It looks like an oven is wearing a tunic, Cassie,” you reply.  “Damn, baby,” he says and walks back into the fitting room to try something else on.

But god forbid anyone says anything to Cassian while you’re there

The IC was sitting in the living of the House of Wind, laughing and chatting about different things all that once. Cassian said something in response to what Amren said in a conversation between her and Nesta.  Immediately, Amren and Mor started jesting Cassian, calling him an unintelligent brute.  You knew it was all fun and games and neither of them really meant it, but you saw the light leave Cassian’s eyes.  You glared daggers in their direction, demanding them they take it back right now or the consequences would not be pretty regardless of how powerful either of them was. When it comes to your mate, no amount of power will stop you from hurting whoever dares to hurt your mate.  They immediately stopped laughing at the look you gave them.  “We didn’t mean it, Cassian, I hope you know that. We’re sorry,” Mor immediately said and looked to you for approval.  You gave a slight nod in response but didn’t smile to let her know apologising did not make this behaviour okay.  Rhysand watched the entire interaction with cunning eyes, internally laughing at how adorable your protective instincts were.  “You found yourself a good one, brother,” he mind spoke to Cassian.

We all know that Cassian is everyone’s rock in difficult situations. He’s the positive one who manages to make a joke out of every situation, makes a problem not seem like a problem and keeps everyone sane during difficult times. Sometimes, though, all of that gets to him and leads to very bad mental health days where he needs someone to be his rock and take care of him.

Cassian lays in bed on his side, turned away from the door where you stood. You knew he hadn’t gotten out of bed since morning. That was already concerning given this male never skips a day of training but you just thought he was tired from last night the IC had spent at Rita’s where the two of you had danced and drank a lot.  Now, you weren’t so sure.  You approached the bed slowly, deliberately making your footsteps loud so he wouldn’t be startled. You stroked the bond lovingly, but he kept his side firmly closed.  You laid a gentle hand on his arm, thumb drawing soothing circles into his skin.  “Cassie,” you called softly. “What’s wrong, baby?”  Cassian didn’t reply but he opened his side of the bond, letting you feel what he felt at the moment. Immediately, negative thoughts and an overwhelming sadness engulfed your heart. Your breath stuttered for a second from the pain of what your mate was going through.  You moved to the other side of the bed and laid down so you were now facing Cassian. His dim eyes flicked to yours and you stroked his cheek lovingly.  “I’m here, love,” you said softly.  That was all Cassian needed to hear. He moved closer to you and you laid on your back, giving him room to rest his head on your chest. Your arms wound protectively around him, one hand scratching his scalp lightly. He sighed against you, melting into your embrace, and fell asleep feeling safe and loved and protected.

Married to the Lord of Bloodshed (One-shot)

A/N: OMG! Thank you all for so much love on the Azriel one. I am literally SHOCKED.

**fair warning: it is unedited, like a rough draft like the last one as I am working on both the series as well. Just had a lot of fun with it!**

Summary: collections of being married to Cassian! Married for fifty years :)

Word count: 1.6k

triggers: Mentions of intimacy, lots of pet names-like LOTS, that's about it!

***

You, an unlikely match, found yourself married to the formidable Illyrian warrior, Cassian, general of the Night Court. Fifty years of a beautiful marriage under your belt. Meeting at a party that somehow left you both discovering you were mates. Cassian was a completely different male when he was around you compared to how he was at the Illyrian camps.

Among your cherished moments together…

After a long day working as a healer for the court, your muscles tense. Cassian would very much enjoy rubbing out your sore muscles. You knew he did this to lead to other things.

As you would lay on the bed, flat on your back. Cassian lifts one of your legs to rest on his shoulder as he rubs your calf. With a mischievous smirk, he murmured, “Baby let me take care of you.” The feeling of his rough calloused hands rubbing out your sore muscles from standing all day. You couldn’t help but laugh, attempting to retract your leg from the ticklish sensation.

“Baby, that tickles,” Cassian smirks in response as he applies more pressure. “You think this tickles, I haven’t even started yet” he murmurs as he presses a thumb to your tight calf muscle as he rubs a knot out and notices your reaction as you cover your face.

“How are your muscles looking? Still sore? Maybe you should take off a few days, you’ve been working really hard. I could stay with you and keep you company.” his gaze meets yours as his hand seems to have traveled to your thigh.

“Well I’ve been going to this new workout studio before work in the mornings, it’s this new workout called pilates” a soft laugh escaping your lips as he reaches a more tense area in your thigh. His smirk fades a little as he looks at you.

“You’ve been going to the gym before work? Baby, you work like hours on end. Are you trying to run that body of yours to the ground? It’s beautiful and deserves to be cared for” Cassian states as he leans closer to you pressing a kiss to your forehead. “I never complained about you working so much, but sometimes you worry me. Try to take it easy okay? Maybe we can have a relaxing weekend together, just us, maybe go to the river?” He smiles down at you as he pulls you closer to himself. You knew where this was leading, as soon as his hands moved across your thigh and onto your hips to pull you flush against him as he kissed your lips. “How about I make you feel good tonight, hm? I’ll be gentle” He smirks with a kiss.

However, one thing that really was a bummer was being married to a super health-conscious Illyrian. Going to the market was a challenge. Sure you enjoyed that your mate looked out for you. Picking the best fruits and vegetables to cook healthy delicious meals with.

But sometimes a girl just wants two different types of cake and maybe some cookies. Your monthly was probably starting soon but the sugar cravings were at an all-time high. Yes, Cassian would obviously let you pick up one. Not two, no no, just one. He said too many sweets would burn you out…I mean he was right, but it still sucked to admit it.

“Mamas, just pick one” Cassian chuckled as he carried the bags of food. Looking at you with a smile as you stood there for the past twenty minutes. Carefully. Picking out the one sweet treat you were allowed for the week.

You pleaded to him as if you were begging for your life. “My love, it’s so hard, can’t we get the fancy cake and the cheesecake?” You shot him a look that even a puppy would fall for, almost begging for your mate to indulge in your cravings. Pointing at the beautifully decorated chocolate cake that sat right next to its best friend, the cheesecake with the pretty little strawberries sitting on top that just went into season. “I mean look they’re best friends, baby? It’s like you and Azriel, we can’t just break them up”

Cassian smirked looking at you, trying to put up a ‘no’ look for you but the male was weak. You knew he couldn’t say no to your cute pleading face. So the moment you looked up at him, he rolled his eyes.

“Fine. But only this, one time.” He teased with mock sternness, his voice low and playful “Only, because you brought up a compelling argument”

“I have never loved you more than I have in this very moment, Pookie” You gave him a big smile as you motioned the baker over to box up both the chocolate cake and the cheesecake.

Cassian was just going to roll his eyes, but he couldn’t say no to his wife’s charms. He looked at you and chuckled, not saying anything as you walked out of the store. Grabbing the bag from you and following you. Though he did make sure to give your ass a tiny pinch on the way out.

“Pookie? I swear you’re going to be the death of me some days, I have a reputation to uphold, you know!” he teased as he walked with you. You both had to pick up a few more items before heading home for the day…

***

Mornings were never your thing you despised mornings. You always opted for the afternoon or night shift when you had to work. Cassian on the other hand was a ray of sunshine in the mornings. Though, he never cared that you didn’t work out with him. Your mate just cared that you would at least move around a bit, whether that was doing yoga with Feyre or taking dance lessons over at the Rainbow. He trained you in self-defense when you first started dating. His wife needed to be able to protect herself at least.

You unfortunately had the morning shift today. A grumpy walk on the way home, you could winnow home. But, you needed the walk to cool yourself down. A walk down the streets of Velaris led you to a new studio that had just opened with the word  ‘Zumba’ written on the glass.  You peeked in to find music flowing out and a bunch of what seemed like moms dancing.

Sounds like a good time!

There were two open spots for tonight. You signed both your and Cassian’s names onto the sign-up sheet. Though you hadn’t asked him yet, you were sure you could be convincing enough.

Entering his office, you found Cassian engrossed in paperwork for the Illyrian camps. “Baby, my love, my sweet honey bear, snookums” you whispered in his ear as you leaned over his shoulder. Carefully not pressing weight down on his wings.

A soft hum escaped his lips as he reached for your hand. Pressing a small kiss on your palm as he kept reading a document for supplies. “What is it my love” he murmured clearly not paying attention to you.

“There’s this class going on tonight and I would really love you if you would join me,” you kissed his ear and then his neck. “Pretty please”

“Mm, what sort of class?” He hummed. Although Cassian would agree to anything for you, he couldn’t help but find your sweetness after work unusual, yet endearing. Usually, you were a snapping turtle, especially once you discover soon that he ate the last piece of cake while you were at work.

“It’s like a workout class with live music, seems fun right? Please baby…pretty please my big strong Illyrian male that I love so much” you whined as you kissed his neck with peppered kisses. Use your other hand to rub his chest.

“Yeah, we can go, let me get ready then” just the confirmation you needed. You pulled away from him and with a happy smile, just about to leave him to his paperwork. Before you knew it, Cassian had swept you off your feet, a playful gesture that spoke of what was to come when he carried you over his shoulder to your shared bedroom.

****

Stepping into the ‘Zumba’ studio, Cassian realized that facing war and bloodshed paled in comparison to the challenge of dancing with a group of determined mothers on a Tuesday night. These females seemed as if they were ready for war. Strapped with their sweatbands and their workout clothes. Cassian was definitely out of place, a few of the fae women gave him curious glances as he stood in the back. The mirrors clearly show him towering over everyone, his massive wings were tucked close to his body, straining as if they sought freedom from the small studio. His small wife was beside him, grinning ear to ear as she looked up at him full of excitement.

How could he refuse when she looked that happy?

As the class concluded, Cassian found himself drenched in sweat, a testament to the intensity of the workout. Sure, he was in perfect shape, he’s had about 500 years of training. Of course, he was a fit male.

But this tortuous dance class had him wheezing and gasping for air while these moms did the cardio squats like it was nothing. A few of the moms even gave him some fist bumps, humbling the poor lord of bloodshed.

Grabbing your hand as you both left the studio, a smile formed and tugged on his lips as he reluctantly said, “Mamas, I need one of those pinky drinks you love so much.” Wiping the sweat from his brow, he looked at you expecting to lead the way to your favorite cafe.

ACOTAR x "Can we be something more?"

Headcannons

Summary: Telling your fuck buddy that you want to be more than friends. Includes: Azriel, Cassian, and Amarantha

WC: 1.6k

Warnings: Crackship (Amarantha x reader), Pet names (Pet, Sweetheart), Mostly Fluff

Azriel

Finding you in the hallway of Hewn City, you were dropping off healing potions and heading back to Velaris. Azriel, however, trailed after you, pushing you into the dark hallway, peppering your neck with kisses as he raised your wrists above your head with one hand.

“I missed you,” he murmured into your ear, nipping the lobe as he continued his conquest.

You couldn’t stop the moans escaping your lips, trying to quiet them as his other hand raised your leg to lift you, allowing you to wrap your legs around his waist as he pressed you hard into the wall.

“Az…” you pleaded as his lips met yours, softly tugging your bottom lip. He stopped and tilted his head to the side.

“Not into it today?” Azriel muttered in confusion. You always loved him doing this to you. You always let him mark you. Why not today? Were you seeing someone else? Were you already bored of him?

You shook your head as he gently placed you back on the ground, yet still kept his chest pressed into yours. His hazel, golden eyes pierced your own.

“I’ve been meaning to ask you something,” you murmured sheepishly, tearing your glance away from his. Using his hand, he lifted your chin to face him as he nodded, encouraging you to inform him of your thoughts.

“I want to be something more with you…” Your gut was telling you, no, screaming at you that you knew how this would play out. The infamous spymaster being with the likes of a healer? You two were opposites; he inflicted pain while you cured it. When you both started this friends with benefits situation, he strictly stated no feelings attached.

He placed his head on your shoulder, hunched over as he nipped the skin. You could feel heat on his cheeks. Was the spymaster…blushing? You went to say something, and in a moment he nipped again as if telling you not to speak.

Azriel took a deep breath, his face still buried in the crook of your neck. You could feel his heart pounding against your chest, each beat a reminder of how vulnerable this moment was for both of you. His shadows laced around the both of you, perhaps protecting this moment from curious eyes. Slowly, he lifted his head, his eyes searching yours with an intensity that made your breath hitch.

“You want more?” His voice was barely above a whisper, but the weight of his words hung in the air between you.

You nodded, the words sticking in your throat. You had never felt this way before, not with anyone, and certainly not with someone as guarded and complex as him. Yet, for yourself, you couldn’t deny your feelings any longer. “Yes, I…I can’t keep pretending this is casual for me. I know what we agreed on. I want more, Azriel.”

Azriel’s eyes softened, the golden flecks in his hazel gaze catching the dim light of the hallway. He cupped your cheek, his thumb brushing gently over your skin. “I never thought I’d hear you say that,” he admitted, his voice raw with emotion. “I was scared to think that I could deserve you.”

Your heart ached at his words. “You deserve everything, Az. You deserve to be loved, truly and completely. You’re not as bad as you think you are.”

His eyes closed for a moment with a sigh escaping those soft lips of his, as if absorbing the truth of your words. When he opened them again, there was a determination there, a resolve that made your heart skip a beat. “If you want more, then more you shall have,” he said firmly. “No more hiding, no more pretending. I want you, all of you. And I want to be yours.”

A wave of relief washed over you, and you pulled him into a fierce kiss, pouring all your feelings into the embrace. He responded with equal fervor, his hands roaming your back, anchoring you to him.

When you finally pulled apart, both of you were breathless with swollen lips, but the smiles on your faces mirrored each other. “Let’s get out of this hell first,” Azriel suggested, his voice husky. “Let’s go somewhere we can talk, like actually talk. I want us to do this properly.”

You nodded eagerly, your heart soaring. As you walked hand in hand out of the dark hallway.

Cassian

You both had met at Rita’s, sharing nights between each other after your first one-night stand with him. It started off small: alleyway hookups, bathroom trysts, to him coming over to your apartment, and even dropping off flowers at your job.

You currently lay in bed after a long session, your sore muscles protesting as you stretched. Noticing he wasn’t there, you crept out of bed and down the hallway, finding him on your couch lazily reading camp reports. When Cassian looked up and noticed you, he put the documents down and a smile planted itself on his face.

“Awake already? You passed out pretty fast,” he teased, opening his arms for you to come snuggle into his broad chest. You padded over to him, sitting on his lap and burying your face into the crook of his neck. Cassian wrapped an arm around your waist, his other hand moving to your chin to tilt your head towards him as he planted a gentle kiss on your lips.

“Working already?” you murmured against his lips, eliciting a groan from him as you reminded him. You looked into his eyes, seeing the warmth in them. To others, he was the lord of bloodshed; to you, he was sweet and gentle. Tender moments like these made your heart race.

He cupped your face with both his hands, “You’re so pretty,” he murmured, gently kissing your cheek, under your eye, the tip of your nose, and then your lips.

“Cass, can I ask you something?” you pouted as he smooshed your cheeks with his huge hands.

“Anything,” he smirked.

“Can we be something more?”

Cassian tilted his head in confusion. “What did you think we were?” he muttered, moving his hands from your cheeks to your shoulders. You looked at him, confused. “I thought we were just friends with benefits,” you murmured sheepishly, your cheeks turning pink at the words.

Cassian tried not to laugh as he looked at your features, as if taking you in. “Friends with benefits don’t bring flowers in front of your coworkers. Friends with benefits don’t bring their toothbrushes and important work documents to the other’s house. I honestly thought we were dating,” Cassian laughed a little as he looked at you, the shocked expression on your face.

“You mean, you thought we were already dating?” you muttered under your breath, looking at the kind expression on his face as he nodded.

“Perhaps we could have communicated that,” he murmured as he looked at your lips. “But I’ve been all in since that moment you let me bang you on the side of Rita’s, sweetheart.” He chuckled as he pinched your cheek just as you were about to huff at him for teasing you.

You couldn’t help but laugh, the tension melting away. “Well, in that case, I guess we’re official now,” you said, a playful glint in your eyes.

Cassian’s expression softened further, his eyes gleaming with emotion. “More than official,” he murmured, pulling you closer. “I’m yours, and you’re mine. No more guessing.”

A lump formed in your throat as the depth of his words sank in. “Deal,” you whispered, sealing it with a kiss.

Crack ship for this one: Amarantha

You’re nestled in the bedsheets next to the general of Hybern, the self-proclaimed High Queen of Prythian. Her long nails trail against your body as you stir awake from your last session together. You give her a sleepy smile, one that she returns along with a kiss on your lips.

“My queen,” you mutter gently, to which she raises a brow.

“Yes, pet?” She lines your jaw with her nail as she gazes into your eyes.

“Can we be…something more?” You manage to stutter out as she lines your bottom lip with her nail. If she wanted to, she could cut it open right then and there. Yet today she is gentle.

“Something more than a pet,” Her hand stops as she grips your chin to look at her, her eyes darkening.

“Are you that obsessed with me?” Her smile turns sinister. “Mother above, you must be sick in the mind to want to be more than a pet. You want me to be all yours, don’t you?” She croons as she plants a rough kiss on your lips. Small whimpers escape your lips.

“I want you to be my girlfriend,” you manage to pant out as she breaks the kiss, earning a feline grin from her as she leans into your ear.

“The only thing you will ever be is my pet, my concubine,” she purrs, her voice dripping with a dark amusement.

A laugh escapes her lips, a sound that sends shivers down your spine. “Girlfriend?” She muses, as if the word itself is a joke. “Oh, sweet pet, you are amusing. Why would I limit myself to such a mundane role when I have you exactly where I want you?”

You feel your heart sink at her words, but the power of her presence keeps you enthralled. “But I… I care about you,” you stammer, your voice barely above a whisper.

“And I enjoy your company,” Amarantha replies, her nails now gently scratching your scalp. “But don’t mistake my amusement for affection, pet. You are here for my pleasure, nothing more.”

You swallow hard, the sting of her words mixing with the lingering pleasure of her touch. “I understand,” you say softly, trying to mask the hurt in your voice.

Stubborn (Drabble)

Summary: Taunting Cassian, you silly little thing. 😎

SMUT!! ** Minors do not interact under the cut **

Warnings: FILTHYYY, Bratty!Reader x Brat tamer!Cassian, Slight degradation, spanking, no plot just smut, unedited as per usual when it comes to smut, I get shy :3 WC: 1k

You really did it this time. You pissed him off.

Cassian already had a frustrating day, and you were no help. The tension between you two had been simmering all day and that's how you ended up in this moment with you hair bundled in his fist as he had you over his knee with his other had landing hard smacks on your ass.

Cassian would chuckle as you gasped, the wetness already pooling between your thighs as he would land another punishing slap.

"That's for being a brat," He said, his voice low and stern. Fuck, you loved it when he was stern, the way the general in him would come out. Lecturing you and all that crap. You knew what you were doing taunting him, shooting him snide remarks all day at the camps.

Another slap, this time on the back of your thighs earning another gasp from your lips. As his hand rubbed the sore bruising marks, keeping you on guard for his next attack.

He finally smacked again, harder this time, "And that's for pushing me all damn day." A yelp escaped your lips, you felt your eyes water with that one. You squeeze your legs together as your body trembled.

A movement that would not go unnoticed, Cassian had that stupid smirk on his face. Without warning, he pushed your legs further apart.

"Now, now sweetheart," he purred, the male fucking purred, "None of that. We're far from done here, count to twenty" He landed another hard slap on your ass. You gasped as you counted, each spank was either hard or just as hard as the last one. If you stuttered? Good fucking luck with that because he would just mock you.

"Crying already baby? Come on, I know you can take these. It's only twenty" He crooned as he rubbed your red backside. "You really like being punished don't you?"

You only whimpered as his hand trailed between your legs, rubbing that little bundle of nerves. "So wet f'me already?" he hummed as he spread your pussy lips, exposing your cunt to the cold air right before inserting his finger into your dripping heat. He was soft and gentle at first, teasing your entrance as he pushed one of his digits inside.

"Look at you, so docile now" Cassian murmured "Just needed to be put in your place didn't you?" You nodded your head as he kept a smooth rhythm, inserting another finger inside you. "Fuck baby, you're so messy already"

The lewd noises causing a blush to form on your face as he kept that slow pace between your legs. Dragging his fingers in and out. You tried to move your hips but he would just hold you down like it was nothing.

"Mm? This is a punishment sweetheart, none of that. Just let me play with your pussy mkay?" Cassian hummed as his fingers were stretching your wet cunt, a mewl escaped your lips when he would curl them in the right spot.

****

Now don't even think about when he finally presses you against that desk of his. Pushing all of that paperwork aside, your breasts flush against the wooden desk as he spreads your legs. The way he lines up his cock against your entrance, teasing you as he slowly inserts it.

"Oh gods" You whimper as you feel the stretch, inch by inch. "You're so...fuck..you're so.." you were just babbling at this point. Earning another low and dark chuckle from Cassian's lips.

"You say that every time baby, but you take me so well. The way your pussy tightens around me...fuck" He groans as he pushes the rest of his length into you, earning another curse from your lips. "Shhh baby, Azriel is in the next room...fuck that made you tighter" Cassian groaned his big rough hands resting on your hips as he pulls out halfway before ramming back into you.

"Sweetheart you..." Cassian had to bite his lip to not groan, fuck you were too tight. "Gotta relax f'me baby, can barely move with the way that pretty cunt of yours is gripping my cock." His rhythm slow as he moves in and out of you. His free hand gripping your hair and pulling your face up as he leans behind you. His cock hitting that sweet spot. Your moans and squelches of your pussy filled the room.

"Ah...fuck...Cass.." You groaned as his pace quickened, your juices making a mess of the floor with each punishing thrust. Cassian's hips were relentless with hitting that pretty spot of yours occasionally brushing against your cervix. "Ah Cass...I can't...fuck...I need to cum" You whimpered, you could feel those hot tears rolling down your face as he bullied his cock into you.

"Not-uh baby, I'm going to cum first, you think brats get to cum?" He said as he pulled your hair back. His free hand landed a loud smack on your ass earning another whimper from you. You were trying, really trying not to cum, biting your lip as he would get you close to a point and then change the rhythm.

That fucking jerk.

You could tell by the way his pace was going, he was close. Fuck he needed that release. The way he would pull all the way out and then ram his fat cock into your pussy, his tip hitting your spot. Your eyes rolled back with drool coming out. "I'm going to fill this pretty pussy kay?" You couldn't respond, after all, he literally fucked you into submission. No more sassy remarks, you weren't sure you remembered what got you into this situation.

You felt him pull out and then slowly push his cock back in as he came earning a groan from his lips. Cassian sounded so pretty when he came. That low raspy groan that would escape his lips, the way you could feel his cock twitch inside you. The hot sticky cum seeping out as he pulled out his thick cock. Just so his fingers could push the cum back inside you as your legs trembled.

"My sweet brat" He whispered next to your ear as his fingers curled inside your pussy.

The Price of Protection- Cassian x Fem!Reader one shot

Warnings: No happy end. Angst

Summary: When a looming threat endangers her mission and the lives of thousands at risk, y/n is forced to lie to her beloved to protect him. As Cassian faces her growing emotional distance and deceit, he grapples with the pain of betrayal and the burden of her hidden sacrifice.

The Price Of Protection- Cassian X Fem!Reader One Shot

Y/n's life was never an easy one. Born to a barely there mother and a nonexistent father in the Court of Nightmares, she endured and witnessed the horrors that came with being a part of such a place. The Court was a realm steeped in shadows and cruelty, where survival often meant navigating a landscape of constant danger and manipulation. From a young age, y/n learned to guard her emotions and trust sparingly, traits that were as vital as her ability to navigate the treacherous politics of her surroundings.

Her mother’s presence was a mere whisper in the background, leaving y/n to fend for herself amidst the ruthless environment. The Court's atmosphere was one of constant strife and fear, where the games of power played by those in authority were unforgiving. The lack of a stable family structure only heightened her sense of isolation, making every victory and setback a solitary experience.

Despite the harsh conditions, y/n's resilience shone through. She found a path forward not by succumbing to the darkness around her but by using it to fuel her own drive. Her sharp intellect and strategic mind allowed her to rise above the turmoil, catching the eye of those who recognized her potential and offered her opportunities beyond the Court's suffocating grip. It was through these opportunities that she managed to distance herself from her past, slowly carving out a role in the Night Court that leveraged her hard-earned skills and determination.

Y/N's transition from the Court of Nightmares to the Night Court was a painstaking journey, but it was within the Night Court that she encountered Cassian. Their first meeting had been marked by an unexpected clash of wills and perspectives. Y/N, in her role as a diplomatic liaison, was tasked with negotiating delicate agreements, while Cassian, with his commanding presence and warrior’s instinct, was often involved in the security aspects of the court. Their paths crossed during a particularly tense diplomatic event, where their differing approaches initially created friction.

However, over time, their mutual respect began to bridge the gap between them. Cassian admired Y/N's intelligence and unwavering determination, while she found solace in his strength and steadfastness. Their interactions, once marked by professional courtesy, evolved into a deep and transformative relationship. Each day, they helped mend the scars left by their pasts—Cassian offering a sense of safety and acceptance Y/N had rarely known, and Y/N providing Cassian with a perspective that complemented his own, a balm to his more battle-worn experiences.

For Y/N, Cassian was a revelation. His presence was both commanding and comforting, a stark contrast to the cold, ruthless environment of the Court of Nightmares. She found solace in his straightforwardness and the way he seemed to understand her unspoken fears. The strength he exuded wasn’t just physical but emotional, offering a sense of stability that she had longed for. His unwavering support helped her shed the armor she had built over the years, revealing a vulnerability she had kept hidden for so long.

Their relationship blossomed in the spaces between their shared duties and personal moments. Quiet evenings spent discussing their day, gentle encouragements, and the occasional playful banter became the highlights of their time together. They supported each other through the demanding nature of their roles, with Cassian often finding respite in Y/N’s insightful perspectives and Y/N drawing strength from Cassian’s steadfast loyalty.

Slowly but surely, their bond deepened. They would steal moments of peace from their busy lives—walking through the moonlit streets of the Velaris, sharing unhurried meals, or simply enjoying each other’s company in the solitude of their private quarters. Each day they spent together was a step towards healing, a reminder that despite their tumultuous pasts, they could find joy and solace in each other.

It was during one of these quiet moments, as they sat together in the soft glow of the evening, that y/n began to feel the full weight of her dual existence. The laughter they shared and the affection they displayed were genuine, but they were also tinged with a sense of impending challenge. y/n was acutely aware that her carefully maintained balance was about to be tested.

Her secret was a mission so covert that its revelation would endanger not just her life but the stability of the entire realm. Unbeknownst to anyone in the Night Court, y/n was part of an underground network dedicated to countering a covert, sinister plot orchestrated by an enemy faction. The supporters of the king of Hybern. This faction sought to destabilize the Night Court by sowing discord and manipulating key figures from the shadows. Y/N's involvement required her to gather intelligence, disrupt covert operations, and ensure that the enemy’s plans remained thwarted.

Her mission involved infiltrating various circles and manipulating events without revealing her true allegiance. She had taken measures to ensure that her role in this shadowy endeavor was completely obscured, even from those she cared about. The weight of this secrecy was immense; it required her to maintain a facade of normalcy and trustworthiness while orchestrating actions that could shift the balance of power within the realm. Y/n's ability to manage this dual life was crucial not only for the success of her mission but for her own survival, making each day a careful balancing act between her public persona and her hidden responsibilities.

The more she grew close to Cassian, the harder it became to maintain this secret. The weight of her hidden mission, coupled with her growing love for him, created an inner turmoil that she struggled to keep in check. She was determined to shield him from the dangerous reality she was entangled in, even if it meant carrying the burden of her secret alone.

As they continued to build their life together, Y/N was haunted by the knowledge that her mission could one day force her to make choices that would impact their relationship in ways she could scarcely imagine. The deeper their bond grew, the more complex the challenge of keeping her secret became, making each day a delicate balancing act between the life she shared with Cassian and the covert world she navigated in silence.

"You have to cut your ties with him and you know it."

Y/n switched her gaze from the wall she had been staring at for who know's how long and looked at the male standing in front of her. The harsh lines of his face were illuminated by the flickering light of a solitary candle, casting shadows that seemed to deepen the severity of his words. His eyes, cold and unyielding, bore into her with an intensity that left no room for argument.

“What are you suggesting?” Y/N’s voice was steadier than she felt, betraying none of the turmoil churning within her. Her hands, clenched at her sides, were the only sign of her internal struggle.

The male’s-Bram's- lips curved into a grim, humorless smile. “You know exactly what I’m suggesting. The mission’s success depends on it. If Cassian remains in your life, he could jeopardize everything. You’ve seen the threats. The enemy is watching, waiting for any sign of vulnerability.”

Y/N’s heart clenched at the thought of severing her connection with Cassian. The idea was more than just painful—it was unthinkable. They had built a life together, one filled with genuine affection and mutual support. To betray that, to lie to him in such a fundamental way, felt like tearing apart a piece of her very soul.

“He’s not just some distraction,” Y/N said, her voice strained. “He’s… he’s important to me.”

Bram's gaze remained unsoftened, his tone unyielding. “Personal attachments are a luxury you can’t afford right now. If the enemy discovers the extent of your relationship, they will use it against us. The stakes are too high. You need to be pragmatic about this.”

Y/N turned away, staring at the cold stone walls of the room as if they could offer her solace or answers. The weight of the decision pressed down on her, threatening to crush her under its enormity. Her mind raced through the possibilities, the potential consequences of revealing her true role or abandoning her mission.

"And what should I do? Do you expect me to just lie to him and break his heart?"

Bram gave her a cold, insincere smile as he said, "Yes."

“What if I can protect him without ending things?” she asked, desperation lacing her words. “There must be another way.”

Bram shook his head, his expression resolute. “There isn’t. You know that. It’s either your relationship or the mission. You can’t have both without endangering everything you’ve worked for. If he or anyone else finds out- everything we worked for will turn into dust. This is an underground battle that doesn't need to be brought into light. If the high lord finds out, thousands of lives could be at risk."

"No, I can- I can make him swear to secrecy! I can-"

Bram got up from his chair. "Do you know, that they have a secret weapon. And apparently some powerfully bred creatures. My other spies tell me the weapon is so unique, never seen before, with the most unusual powers that no one knows what it can even do. So if anyone outside this organization finds out, how easy do you think it would be for them to just let their weapons out into the world?"

The silence that followed was heavy and oppressive. Y/N struggled to reconcile the demands of her covert mission with the reality of her relationship with Cassian. The two worlds she had worked so hard to keep separate were colliding, and the fallout promised to be devastating.

Finally, she met Bram's gaze again, her expression a mask of resigned determination. “I understand,” she said quietly. “I’ll do what needs to be done.”

As she left the warehouse in the middle of nowhere, y/n thought over and over about how she would end things with Cassian. She had made sacrifices throughout her short but eventful life, not having any remorse for the things she had done. No one had any remorse for her growing up, so why should she ever feel bad whenever she took lives that deserved it?

But this...this was different. The pain of loosing Cassian was too much. She loved him dearly and would rather kill herself than allow this to happen to him. He deserves better. So, so much better.

It's for his own good. For the good of the realms. You can't have him or anyone else killed.

But the pain was unbearable, worsened by the fact that Cassian was not just her beloved, but her mate. She found out about it only two nights ago when she watched him train. Y/n was shocked, happy but most of all, sad. Because she knew it could never last long. Perhaps it was a good thing that he hadn't yet felt the bond because it would make this a little easier.

When she reached the house, he paused in the doorway, her fingers grazing the cold metal handle, her heart aching with the enormity of what she was about to do. Cassian's laughter from a nearby corridor reached her ears, a sound so pure and unburdened that it felt like a cruel contrast to the turmoil roiling within her. She could picture him now—his face alight with the genuine joy and warmth that had drawn her to him in the first place.

Taking a deep breath, Y/N steeled herself. She needed to approach this with the same calm resolve she applied to every diplomatic negotiation, every covert operation. But this was different. This wasn’t about maintaining balance between political factions; this was about unraveling a personal thread that had become crucial to her very sense of self.

As she walked through the hallways toward their shared quarters, every step felt heavier than the last. Memories of their shared moments—quiet talks under the stars, warm embraces, and their laughter echoing through the place—flashed through her mind like a montage of what could have been. The sense of loss was almost unbearable, and she fought to keep her expression composed, her emotions firmly in check.

She reached their door and hesitated before pushing it open. Inside, Cassian was lounging on the sofa, a book open in his lap, his expression relaxed and content. He looked up as the door opened, and his smile, so easy and genuine, faltered for a moment when he saw the look on Y/N's face.

“Hey,” he greeted softly, setting the book aside. “Everything okay?”

Y/N’s heart twisted at the concern in his voice. She could see the love and trust in his eyes, and it made the weight of her decision even more crushing. “Cassian,” she said, her voice cold and controlled, devoid of the warmth that once came so easily. “We need to talk.”

Cassian’s expression shifted to one of concern as he stood and moved toward her. “What’s wrong?”

Her heart was pounding but she managed to keep her mask of indifference as y/n said, "I am leaving."

Cassian’s eyes searched hers, confusion beginning to show. "Wha- I don't understand. You're leaving? Why?"

Now came the hardest bit. Y/n opened her mouth and said the worst thing, the only thing she never wanted to tell him because it was all a lie.

Y/n’s gaze remained detached, her heart aching as she spoke the words she had dreaded. “Because I’ve realized that I no longer have any feelings for you. My priorities have changed, and it’s become clear that staying in this relationship isn’t right for either of us.”

The impact of her words was immediate and devastating. Cassian’s face fell, his shock and pain evident. “You’re saying you don’t love me anymore? That’s why you’re leaving?”

“Yes,” Y/N replied coldly. “I’ve been unfaithful. I’ve been involved with someone else, and it’s clear to me now that our relationship was built on illusions. It’s better for both of us if we end things now, before more harm is done.”

Cassian’s face was a mask of disbelief and hurt. “Unfaithful? And you didn’t even tell me? You’ve been lying to me this entire time?”

Y/N’s heart clenched at the pain in his voice, but she forced herself to maintain her composure. “I’m sorry. I’ve made my decision. I need to move on to a new place, start anew. This is the end of our relationship.”

Cassian's eyes were wide with disbelief as his hand threaded through his hair. "Are you serious? You truly cheated on me?!"

When y/n didn't reply, Cassian came towards her, his eyes full with unshed tears and devastation. "Please, my love, tell me this is a joke. Tell me it's not real."

Y/n forced her voice to stay cold as she said, "No, it's not a joke."

At that moment, she saw how Cassian's expression changed from one of pleading to one of anger and disbelief as his voice too, grew detached.

"I guess I was really the stupid one all this time. Stupid for falling for you even though you used me for your needs."

She forced a laugh and moved past him, pretending not to be affected even though her whole body was shaking. "Believe it or not Cas, you aren't the most wanted male in the world. It was nice to have you to distract myself for a little while but I don't need you anymore."

When she turned around, it pained her, crushed her, to see him regard her with such disgust, such anger. He was clearly holding his rage in, waiting for her to leave. But this was for the best.

His voice like cool ice echoed through the room as he said. "Get your things and get the hell out of here. Pray to the mother that I won't ever see you again because y/n believe me if I do, I won't be as nice as I am now."

And without giving her a chance to reply, he spread out his wings and flew out of the house, leaving her to cry her heart out as she packed her things.

By the time Cassian had come back, y/n was long gone, no trace of her remaining.

They were never meant for a happy end, just borrowed time anyway.

Atleast now he would be safe. Atleast now the mission wouldn't be under jeopardy. Atleast he hates her now, that is for his own good right?....right?

But what about her? How many more times will y/n have to make sacrifices for the greater good? When will she get to keep something to herself, at least once?

It seems like never.
