This Semester I Worked Real Hard On Making A Dummy For A Childrens Book About A Young Dinosaur Going

This semester I worked real hard on making a dummy for a childrenā€™s book about a Young dinosaur going to summer camp! It was a whole lot of work but I love how it turned out, and I learned SO MUCH about digital painting. Hereā€™s the three finished illustrations I did for it!

Iā€™m also thinking of putting the dummy on gumroad for pwyw / free: would anyone be interested in reading it?

Hand to Hold

A book for the little person in my life.

Hand To Hold

This book was written by a musician singer and that I love. I love the sound of her voice. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PgGUKWiw7Wk

I never read the series until I was an adult, and the first book legitimately made me cry! Knowing Jango was going to die made it even worse. Hereā€™s this kid who sees his dad as his entire world, and that world is ripped away from him in one instant at the start of a war he canā€™t possibly understand. It really makes you hate all the adults involved even more, especially people like Palpatine and Dooku, knowing that this tragedy will repeat itself many times over across the galaxy. And seeing how no one even gives a crap about this kid afterwards is especially heartbreaking.

(Mace is really cold-hearted about the whole thing in the Clone Wars series, telling Boba ā€œYouā€™ll just have to forgive me.ā€ Not a sorry or anything. Granted, the kid had just tried to kill him, but damn, not an ounce of compassion or understanding. I respect him as a Jedi, but I canā€™t forgive his treatment of Boba. He demands understanding without showing it himself.)

i got a book about boba fett as a child at the library and itā€™s the worst decision iā€™ve ever made

books where elementary-aged kids unwillingly move to a new house (because parents, of course) and find old and possibly evil magic somewhere, requiring them to learn new information and skills in order to learn about the magic and be able to use it responsibly (so that it will not be evil), but of course their parents have no idea what the truth of any of this is

Herky the only MonkeyMouse finds out that being unique can be a good thing and that even among their friends who seem to all be the same there are differences that they help the others to embrace as well.

This is high-brow literature at its finest.

As much as I love it, I can't claim that it's my favorite children's book.Ā  That distinction belongs to Tuesday (go read it!).

"what use is it to be an illustrator of children's books when the world has sentenced the children of your country to the death penalty, to vanish, to genocide?"

this is an illustration for youssef, whose mother is remembered running desperately into the hospital asking if anyone had seen a "small white boy with beautiful curly hair, his name is youssef," a description which was remembered by millions when she finally identified his body:

This Probably Makes Sense With Additional Context, But I Have No Desire To Acquire It Because I Find

This probably makes sense with additional context, but I have no desire to acquire it because I find the possibility that I live in a world were a fictional caterpillar is being called out for not being ā€˜wokeā€™ enough hilarious.
