I never read the series until I was an adult, and the first book legitimately made me cry! Knowing Jango was going to die made it even worse. Here’s this kid who sees his dad as his entire world, and that world is ripped away from him in one instant at the start of a war he can’t possibly understand. It really makes you hate all the adults involved even more, especially people like Palpatine and Dooku, knowing that this tragedy will repeat itself many times over across the galaxy. And seeing how no one even gives a crap about this kid afterwards is especially heartbreaking.
(Mace is really cold-hearted about the whole thing in the Clone Wars series, telling Boba “You’ll just have to forgive me.” Not a sorry or anything. Granted, the kid had just tried to kill him, but damn, not an ounce of compassion or understanding. I respect him as a Jedi, but I can’t forgive his treatment of Boba. He demands understanding without showing it himself.)
i got a book about boba fett as a child at the library and it’s the worst decision i’ve ever made

Writing Problem
Don’t you love it when you take the time to rewrite an entire scene, only to decide the one you originally had is better?
I’ve wasted so much time…
For my No Man’s Sky fic, it would have to be Verity’s older brother, Sage.
She was in space when he was killed. He was part of a unit escorting a group of colonists to a new galaxy when they were ambushed. One of the raiders got a lucky shot.
Verity didn’t even get to return for the funeral, so sometimes it is easier for her to pretend he is alive. However, his death haunts her more than she would like to admit, not just from a personal standpoint but a philosophical one. What are she and her brother really doing out here? Sure, Euclid is friendlier to humanity than Andromeda, but that doesn’t erase the fact that both she and him are/were invaders. Even though she isn’t part of a militarized force, she is essentially scouting ahead for new territory. She had never really thought about the colonial/imperialist implications of her job before, and as someone with Native Alaskan ancestry, it makes her too uncomfortable to think about often. So she buries it under the wonders she finds, knowing deep down that her species and their home planet might be fucked beyond repair.
But beyond that is the fact she simply misses her brother, like she does all her family. She misses the person who taught her how to throw a punch, who hid fish eyeballs in her socks, and who engaged her in never ending Star Wars versus Star Trek debates. Every day she spends in Euclid, the farther she and her family’s experiences grow apart, and now she has lost the one person back home who would understand what she’s going through the most.
(Weird behind-the-scenes story. I tried playing as Sage for the fishing expedition so I could ask him some questions from the “afterlife” and get to know him better. The save became corrupted after only one session, and I could not get it to load again. Out of all my dead characters, he is well and truly dead, and appears to want to stay that way.)
which oc haunts the story?
It’s usually a bit awkward at first when any group of my characters meet, but there are a few with enough charisma to break the ice and form friendships from any group of characters. Some of my oldest OCs are well into retirement and don’t come out anymore, preferring to watch everyone else interact from a distance, coffee or tea in hand, remembering when they were the ones having adventures or guiding me through my internal work, but grateful that they finally get to rest.
I can never predict how my characters will interact. Sometimes an old one who I thought was long gone will reincarnate into a new form that I barely recognize, but there will always be some flash of their old selves, a look, detail or preference, which lets me know who they once were. These characters have become archetypes for me, splitting off and recycling themselves in endless forms for endless stories. Now if only I could write as fast as they regenerate!
How would your oldest OCs react to meeting your newer ones? Excited? Scared? Would they be friends, or would they hate each other. (Can be used as a writing/drawing prompt!)
These idiots were probably the ones who set off the alarm in the first place.

Zartan would wake up groggy, trying to rest after a long stint deep undercover, and be like "What did the morons do now?"

Then he'd go and rein the Dreadnoks in like he always does. He can't leave them alone for more than five minutes without something going wrong.
(Dreadnok image is a cover from G.I. Joe Declassified. I don't have an image credit for Zartan. Found it online, and his pissed-off vibe was just too perfect not to share. If anyone knows the source and wants to share, I would be much obliged.)

Hannibal Lecter would only think he was initiating contact with Pinhead.

In reality, Hell has been watching him for a long time.
Hannibal Lecter is not the first cannibal Pinhead has come to collect, but he would surely be one of the most interesting. I imagine Leviathan has been wanting him as a cenobite for a while.

Scenario Prompt #11
Your character gets a job at a nursing home full of former villains.
Zartan, correcting his boss’s mistakes and averting catastrophe.
He and Destro both deserve a raise.
At least the Commander is more polite to Zartan than he is to Destro. Zartan might actually get the pay raise he deserves, providing the Dreadnoks don’t mess things up.
"Oh, sorry about that."
Night on the Galactic Railroad

This anime adaptation of the classic Japanese children’s book by the same name is such an underrated gem. It gives me the same sense of wonder as a Studio Ghibli film, but has a slower, more melancholy note, full of liminal imagery and meditations on life and death. It’s one I rewatch periodically and makes me cry a little every time.
I was just telling my coworker who I’ve introduced to GI Joe media about the Fury Force comic. (He’s an action figure collector who thought they were cool but didn’t really know much about any of the characters he was buying.) I didn’t realize that the women were only included in vehicle packs initially or that Hasbro thought villains wouldn’t sell. The villains are my favorites!
I think Cobra Commander would be an interesting opponent for Nick Fury. The guy simply doesn’t fight fair, and always has at least five tricks up his sleeve. Depending on the continuity, he likes to play weak so his enemies underestimate him, and then once they become too confident, the fangs come out. (Granted, the weakness he preys on in others is very often a reflection of his own. He can become too cocky, as well.) I would definitely pay to see it, to be sure.
I can’t imagine the Dreadnoks being able to face off against Nick Fury for more than five minutes, but I’d like to think Zartan would put up a decent fight. The guy canonically has ninja training, is a world-class infiltrator, and has held his own against Snake Eyes in some continuities. Sure, a lot of the Cobras wouldn’t hold up, but give the man some credit where it’s due!
(Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, who knows? He was a Jedi in a past life!)

There’s no way Cobra Commander can beat Nick Fury, Fury would own him in a sad. Hell any one else in Cobra would fare better against Nick than CC (even Doctor Mindbender) Speaking of GI Joe and Fury, from the G.I. Joe: ARAH Wiki
Prior to G.I. Joe’s relaunch in 1982, Larry Hama was developing an idea for a new comic book called Fury Force, which he was hoping would be an ongoing series for Marvel Comics. The original premise had the son of S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury assembling a team of elite commandos to battle neo-Nazi terrorists HYDRA. Shooter approached Hama about the Joe project [Hasbro wanted Marvel to do a story for their G.I. Joe toys] due to Hama’s military background, and the Fury concept was adapted for the project. Shooter suggested to Hasbro that “G.I. Joe” should be the team name and that they should fight terrorists, while Archie Goodwin invented Cobra and the Cobra Commander; everything else was created by Hama. Hasbro was initially uncertain about making villain toys, believing this wouldn’t sell. Marvel would also suggest the inclusion of female Joes in the toyline, and to include them with the vehicles (as Hasbro again worried they wouldn’t sell on their own).
And now you know.
