Epic Athena - Tumblr Posts
First post hooray!! I'm VERY new to Tumblr so if anybody has any tips to navigate this wild site lmk please.
Just a lil Athena and Telemachus sketch I did a while back. This is supposed to be during We'll Be Fine.
Athena is a Eurasian Lynx and Telemachus is an Aegean Cat.
I chose the lynx for Athena because they are associated with wisdom and she is the wisdom goddess. Eurasian Lynx are also the largest species of lynx and I imagine Athena as a pretty tall/big imposing goddess you know.
Tele on the other hand takes after his father (also an Aegean cat) and basically, it's meant to represent his royal lineage, the royals of Ithaca are Aegean cats. They also are from Greece so boom instant reference to Greece lol. They also just come in the cutest patterns and I have a PERFECT one in mind for tele.

AND IM NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT ATHENA FIGHTING AGAINST HER ARES AND LOSES HER COOL THE SECOND ARES TALKS SHIT ABOUT TELEMACHUS

Telemachus's little 'thanks' after Athena says "you're a good kid" Was FUCKING ADORABLE OKAY???
This baby has some strong people around him. His mother Penelope fending off 100+ men while waiting for her husband for 20 YEARS and then there's Athena ,aka his other mom thats a goddess, becoming protective of him both against to the suitors AND Ares and also there's his father.
Like.... Come on.. The sunshine kid has beautiful and strong people around him. This is just wholesome.
Its fascinating that the suitors try to put Telemachus down by calling him "little wolf" But Athena uses the same phrase to encourage him. (Also her calling the guy dog was my favorite part HXJSXHSBZ)

She's still getting used to being an aunt
Love Paradise makes me cry. Every single time I listen to the song it pulls on my heart strings in a way that I can't entirely describe. The actual music is amazing all around, but the different emotions portrayed from Athena's grief and guilt, to Ody's PTSD episode following Calypso's unfortunate word choice, I could go on and on about how much I love that song.
I also can't imagine what Athena was feeling. She finally gathers the courage and resolve to reconnect with her old friend, regardless of the path he's on now and after seeing the intense suffering and pain he's experienced in his time apart from her, then the most up to date thing she sees is him crying out for her. His mentor, his friend. One of the only friends he has that isn't dead at his hand, even though I'm sure he blames himself for her absence from him.
Heart wrenching.

I say this solely based on the fact that they both call Zeus/Jupiter “Father” as opposed to “Dad”
Ok, Athena shows up mainly looking like an adult, which is probably true for the entire musical/books/whatever.
What if when Odysseus was a kid she made herself look like 2-3 years older than Odysseus? Not to be extremely imposing to Odysseus and when she appears to him in places it wouldn't look like he was talking to an adult but a kid a little bit older. Athena seemed to be with Odysseuss a lot during his childhood (based off the OdyPen cut song Jorge showed off). She seemed used to his antics.
This thought came to me by @mushyooms Odypen video. I know it is the chibiness that makes Athena look more like a kid next to kid Odysseus but this is now my headcanon.

Athena: Yes, but if you let him go, he can still BUILD a future with his fam.
Hephaestus (laughing): Good one, let him go.
Aphrodite: Odysseus should have been home sooner then his Mom wouldn't have died.

Ares: DON'T MESS WITH MY GIRL ALSO YOUR ODYSSEUS IS A SLY BITCH JUST LIKE YOU AND HIS SON'S A LOSER.
Athena: (rage activate) DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK OF MY BOY LIKE THAT!
Ares: gods okay chill
Aphrodite: awww so cute you do have a heart
Athena: Besides Ares we can watch ody kill all those assholes in his palace and I'll get popcorn.
Ares: GREAT FUCKING DEAL!
Hera: Look I've been pretty pissed at Zeus lately just gimme one good reason.
Athena: So he's smart.
Hera:
Athena: He's... Uh... Did I mention he's smart?
Hera:
Athena: He's kinda funny.
Hera: seriously?
Athena: Okay goddamnit he's not a serial cheater like Dad alright?
(Collective gasps, Hermes is lying on the floor laughing silently)
Apollo: Oh wow.
Artemis: She actually just said that.
Athena: (internally) shit fuck just act like you didn't just say that.
Hera: Husband goals, let him go.
Athena: (internally) act natural... (To Zeus) So I won, let him go.
Zeus: You little shit-
