Tag game! The post I was tagged in was long af so I’m just making a new post.

Thanks for the tag @sickasafish I love these things! The game is such:

List your top three whump tropes and tag people.

Whoever gets tagged gets to say how they feel about your top three tropes.

After finishing that, they then list their top three tropes, and the tagging cycle goes on!

If you don’t feel like playing, it’s ok!

1) Concussions- oooooooh I love concussions! The delirium, the uneven pupils, the incoordination, the confusion, love it! They’re a wonderful bit of whump!

2) Fevers- ooooooooooooooooooooooh those are some of my favorite things ever! I love me a good fever, be in an infected wound or pneumonia or even just a simple flu. Most of my fics are sickfics of some sort haha but I am not ashamed of that^^ and fevers lead to fever dream hehehehe

3) Survival where an accident leaves the whumpee trapped- now this isn’t one of my personal faves but I do still love it. I just love the caretaking aspect of it more. Finding the stranded whumpee, freeing them, bringing them home, treating the wounds they got, etc.

And now onto my own favorite tropes!

1) I do love me some good sedation. There are so many options, the whumper sedating a whumpee and the whumpee trying to fight a losing battle with consciousness, the caretaker being forced to sedate a desperate whumpee who’s begging not to be sedated for some reason and the betrayal or the soft fading as they can’t comprehend what’s happening.... mmmm that’s the good stuff.

2) Stabbings. Stabbings are alllllways such a wonderful form of whump. Be it a blade, a piece of shrapnel, whatever works. If it pierces the skin, it’s good with me^^

3) This is a weird one but I still love it. A whumper having control over a whumpee’s hair. It’s a thrill to have a whumper cut, style, change, control a whumpee’s personhood by screwing with their hair. I do love an intimate whumper who loves to show their control over the whumpee by something so basic yet so personal.

written correspondence. there's a nathan bateman x reader fic on ao3 (or maybe it's here) about nathan and reader writing sticky notes to each other on their doors and it's SO CUTE i will try to find it. but I LOVE THAT IDEAAAA

academic/workplace rivals. not just enemies. like, The Hating Game type shit

yearning. as brittany broski said BRING BACK MALE YEARNING. no i just love people being in love it's so cute

reluctance. they are so in love but one person is like 'idk maybe we shouldn't/i'm scared' and their crush is like falling over themselves to convince them. AHHHH

lovesick. like physical symptoms of being in love. tummy ache, dizzy, consuming thoughts ahhhhhhHHHHHHHhh just everything yes

Favorite Tropes

Totem Pole Trench (aka the "people stacked up in a trench coat" trope)

Extended Disarming (aka the "remove your weapons...all of them...I said all of them" trope)

Off-screen crashing, followed by sirens and horrified cats (or someone makes a loud noise, and the series' equivalent of birds are seen squawking while flying away)

The characters breaking the fourth wall.

Found family.

Redemption arcs.

Montages with epic montage music.

"They're coming! Everyone act natural!"

The character(s) is trying to sneak by someone, and when the person looks in their direction, the character(s) is gone. Once the person's attention is diverted, it cuts to wherever the character(s) is hiding (it's usually in a ridiculous spot).

One of the characters go somewhere, and the squad follows them, disguised as newspaper reading strangers, trees, etc.

Everyone ignoring the elephant in the room.

*opens door, sees something abnormal, closes the door*

People sharing extremely biased flashbacks of the same situation, painting themselves as heroes, and everyone else as bakas.

Alternatively, everyone is sent (separated) for questioning, and they either complete each other's sentences or hilariously contradict each other.

Big fan of that one weirdly specific trope that’s like:

All our parents have a secret past where they were involved with some cult/organization/crime and we, the teen protagonists, are now collectively wrapped up in the actions/mysteries we had no idea our families were hiding.

And I’m talking about ALL this and then some

You know what? I’m tired of hearing about soulmates.

Can I hear some commotion in the club for soul enemies? For destined rivals and loathing at first sight? For tearjerking tradegies about star-crossed nemeses and duos who both give it their all to destroy the other, yet can’t find the strength to carry on in their abscence? The twisted, poetic dance between two people that can’t even tell who they are anymore without their adversary- their forever opponent, and no one else’s. And the best part is how, even knowing that true victory and defeat both would throw all of this away, they will still keep playing that game to win. They’ll pursue that chase even when it means they may loose their ability to connect with the more reasonable, peaceful world around them. Because they wanted so badly for more than that, and they found someone who doesn’t only understand that part of them, but respects them for it- in fact, needs them for it just the same. For better or worse.

Call me a nostalgic soul but one of my most beloved running gags they used to sprinkle into older cartoons was the one where whenever a character was being an absolute douche weasel or a weapons grade idiot, to start playing stock audio of a loudly braying donkey in the background, indicating a “jackass” moment

Simultaneously manufactured and miraculous. A conscious masterpiece standing before the mercy of time.

The first one is so Riley!! Especially whenever Miles makes them happy, like they get overwhelmed by it it’s my fav thing ever 😭
