Time for an intro.

Oi!

Miles here. This is a sideblog, that I won't use exclusively for whump. It's meant for anything not project-related.

I go by any pronouns, but they/them are my preferred ones on the Internet.

My fav whump tropes are :

- bound and gagged

- non human whumpees

- whumpee turned whumper (*cough* REN HANA MI AMOR)

- used as livestock

- used as bait

- Lady whump.

My main project is a webcomic that I'll start posting about on my main blog ( @unknowntalesbymiles ) and I intend to make it quite whumpy.

Oh, and, I like whumping dragons. A lot. Dunno why.

I won't write much, maybe post a few ideas or some art once I get my Ipad.

hi i need help finding a merlin whump/angst fic i read on ao3 a long time ago. i don't remember anything about the author or the tags but if i had to guess it might have been the red exclamation point "graphic depictions of violence" It was also most likely a ONESHOT. PLEASE help me find it or tell me if you know anything about it.

*it might be under "merlin angst" when you search those exact words under the search bar in ao3, i used it on my phone, I'm still not sure how it works or if it's different from other devices. also i would go really deep into random pages like page 40 or even like page 200 so I've really absolutely no idea where it could be😭😭😭😭😭👎👎👎👎👎👎*

the fic went like this: Arthur catches merlin doing magic because they're in the woods or something (i forget what they were doing), merlin was like making a fire. later back in Camelot Arthur banishes merlin because of uther? or something, i don't remember. idk i just remember he banishes merlin. i think Arthur says he wants merlin gone by like the next morning. merlin then leaves by himself and he's in the woods, then he gets attacked by bandits or something, and he gets shot in the shoulder with an arrow. this is important because it might be the only thing that can help me identify the fic. some knights on patrol report back to arther that they had seen a sorcerer attacked by bandits and shot in the shoulder in the woods. arther later goes by himself to find merlin, then merlin sees him and gets scared and runs. arther is chasing him, merlin accidentally runs under some lose rocks or something , arther yells at him to stop but then the rocks fall on Merlin and almost arthur, but Merlin uses magic to keep the boulder from hurting arthur, then arthur gets merlin out from under the rocks and sees his leg very broken that he almost throws up, then he carries him back and its a happy ending.

please please help me i loved that fic and i didn't have the chance to save it because i didn't know how ao3 worked back then. pleaaaaaseeeee it's like one of my favorites I NEED TO FIND IT IVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE

Give me whumpees that come out the other side dangerous.

Whumpees that have been absolutely shattered, but instead of breaking into harmless sand they stick themselves back together into razor sharp blades and edges.

Whumpees that have been through hell, and you know just by looking at them that it made them deadly instead of weak.

Whumpees that are starved for touch and affection and will cave into any hug, but will just as easily break the spines of any who would hurt them again without hesitation.

Whumpees that are calculating and clever in the desperate survivalist way that forces them to stay sane and smart and not give in to despair.

Whumpees that did not get rescued so they rescued themselves.

What's a niche/uncommon whump thing you love? (Could be a trope, whump for a specific character, a setting, anything)

I’m not sure if any of these count as uncommon, but:

Any form of mind control. Compulsion, glamour, magic, etc. I have a special appreciation for fae glamour/compulsion specifically.

The fae world, in general, as a setting.

Delirium, in any form, really. Fever, sleep deprivation, etc.

Sensory deprivation.

And I know this one is definitely not niche, but kidnapping is just AHHH

Having whumpee OCs of your own often means having a preferred way of whumping for the each one. Sometimes it's not planned, not deliberate - just a feeling these kinds of suffering fit them right.

If this sounds relatable for you, which whump tropes each one of your OCs usually get? Which ones are just made for them?

Ooooh, this is a good question!

Adelie: exhausted, bloody, and bruised, knowing that no matter what she does, she cannot save someone in a given situation, and blaming herself for it.

Melody: being confined or bound, especially small rooms/fear of her whumper no longer being imprisoned

Cat: having to watch as someone he loves is hurt, helpless to stop it

Travis: the people he loves being hurt mere hours after he left them, but being too far away to do anything

PERMANENCE in whump. scars. trauma. loss. grief. those things that never heal completely. let's talk about it. :)

I have read fanfics I would pay to have bound into books and keep them on my bedside table.

I’ve been asking myself that question for the past year, lol. The list has definitely been growing with the new tropes I’ve discovered. I’m probably going to list them when I remake my Masterlist, but I’ll use this to start figuring out the ones I like.

Kidnapping/ Held Captive:

This is what started me on my whump journey. I’ve always been obsessed with movies and stories that had scenarios that involved this.

Torture (physical and emotional):

Love interrogations with torture, even just unwarranted torture that leaves the Whumpee helpless and groveling. Making threats of torture and hearing them beg. Begging gives me hard whumperflies.

Giant/Tiny:

This one is recent. I’m starting to love the dynamic of a small whumpee being trapped and helpless against a large Whumpee. Like a cat and a mouse situation. Even caretaker having to be delicate with Whumpee.

Pet whump:

This one is new too, but I think it’s more because I like the side of it where Whumpee gets punished and wants to be forgiven by their master so badly. Or even a defiant Whumpee that doesn’t want a master at all but they better listen if they want to live. Im not too big on like the sexual pet side where they need to do intimate favors and that’s the entire dynamic. That’s not to say I don’t like a little nsfw if it’s written well 🤭.

Whumper turned Whumpee:

Omg when I tell you I eat this shit up, I’m not even kidding lmao. Just the satisfaction of knocking whumper off their pedestal and giving them a taste of their own medicine gives me whumperflies every time. Whether it’s a vengeful caretaker, whumpee, or outside party, someone needs to beat this shit out of that guy.

Wrong place wrong time, or right time?:

Not really a standard trope but I like scenarios where maybe whumpee is just doing a simple thing like grocery shopping or taking a walk down the street and whumper shows up and decides, “yeah, that’s mine now”. Just snatches whumpee simply for existing. Even if maybe whumper accidentally got Whumpee instead of their original target or was forced to take them because they witnessed something and now they actually like having them as a plaything.

Being held at weaponpoint:

Having a knife to your throat or a gun to your head. Maybe a freaking lightsaber that can cut your limbs off kind of thing. Anything that is a threat to your life and makes your adrenaline pump.

Immortal/ non-human whump:

Vampires, gods, hybrids, mythical beings. Whatever you can think of in this category. I love them being a whumpee. Having this perception that they’re invincible in their own realms. The strongest, baddest beings alive and yet a “lower being” has captured them and is breaking then down to nothing.

Multiple Whumpers:

I only sometimes like this. I have a problem with becoming biased towards one of the whumpers so when another one comes over, I’m like, yah no that’s not right. But if it’s written well and theres a dynamic where one whumper is way more sadistic and horrendous than the other. Then it makes it interesting to see Whumpee picking favorites.

These are definitely not all of them, just the ones that I could think of in my head right now. I think I definitely lean more towards the “hurt” side of whump. I’m only ever really heavy on the comfort if I feel bad. Like, I’m the one who wants to comfort the whumpee, not the caretaker in the story if that makes sense. Which is why I like to draw because then I can make the things that I want to do for characters come to life.

love the classic damsel in distress trope, but the damsel in question is a pathetic fictional man bleeding out in the dark somewhere on the floor before his ridiculously gorgeous knight comes for his rescue just when he’s about to pass out, and the ridiculously gorgeous knight in question is actually a deranged villain who is his archenemy. but they both have these frustratingly unresolved sexual tension going on where they both hate each other but are also super possessive and protective of each other in the sense that no one else can hurt this little guy but me!!!! and so the knight carries his pathetic damsel in his arms bridal style back to his goth castle where they have hot, kinky gay sex ever after (after he nurses his pathetic enemy’s ass back to health, of course, can’t risk bruising our fragile damsel when he’s already half dead).

I love you misunderstood villain who’s been through the worst kind of hell and wasn’t able to come out of it unscarred.

I love you villain who is well understood and just likes doing bad things for pure pleasure.

I love you villain who is loved by the fandom.

I love you villain who is hated by the fandom.

I love you villain who has to cry alone and lick their wounds in the dark because they’re too scared to let anybody see them vulnerable.

I love you villain who’s not scared to shout all their pain and trauma at the top of their lungs for the world to hear.

I love you villain who’s on their knees begging to be accepted and loved for once.

I love you villain who never bows down to anyone.

I love you villain who hides their scars like their deep, dark secrets.

I love you villain who shows their scars like trophies from the battles they won.

I love you villain who wants to create a better world, even if their way of trying to achieve the goal is different than hero’s.

I love you villain who wants to burn the world down.
